The Taste is located in the heart of Amherst Center. The service is pretty good and the place is decorated in a minimalistic but modern design. I believe it is a family-run business, but everyone is professional and understands the business well. The food was pretty decent. I got the Basil Fried Rice, which was priced reasonably. I did think the portions were a bit small so it wasn't good for sharing, but priced reasonably enough for individual plates. The basil fried rice had a little kick in it but didn't have that much spice to overwhelm. Overall a good place to go if you are looking for Thai food in the area or a casual date night.

I've been here twice on two different trips to Amherst! Every dish was a delightful journey into the vibrant and complex flavors of Thai cuisine. Starting with the pumpkin curry, it was a rich and aromatic dish with the sweetness of the pumpkin complementing the warm Thai spices. A very comforting dish! I couldn't resist trying the Pad Thai, a classic Thai noodle dish, which did not disappoint! The Siam rolls, we're one of the crispiest things I've ever had! The contrast between the crunchy exterior and the tender, flavorful interior likely makes them irresistible appetizers. I regret eating them all in one sitting but I knew they would be good in a hotel microwave. The chicken coconut soup, made with a creamy coconut milk base, kaffir lime, tender chicken, mushrooms, and other herbs and spices infused the broth with layers of complex flavors, creating a comforting and aromatic soup that warms the soul. Lastly, the Thai-style basil chicken pan-fried dish was flavorful with tender chicken, aromatic Thai basil, bell peppers, onions, and chilies. This is also a staple of mine when visiting a Thai restaurant and I loved this one! The service is great, very quick, and polite! I will return here whenever my next trip to Amherst is!

Here are the must orders in my opinion: chicken satay and potstickers. Everything else I enjoyed, but those 2 things went above and beyond. Pad Thai was pretty standard for a Thai restaurant, still would recommend. I'll be back!

Best Thai food around! I love the green curry and the massaman curry. The people who run the restaurant couldn't be nicer!

Very disappointing. I wanted to like it but it was the worst Pad See Ew I've ever had. Totally devoid of flavor.

Atrocious. Like eating cardboard. Noodles all clumped together. Like, negative taste. Watch out for eggshells!

Food is good. Unfortunately, out of potstickers when I ordered. Wut! Otherwise, no complaints.

The drink selection is just as impressive -- creative cocktails, a solid wine list, and plenty of beer options to pair with your meal. The staff really elevates the experience. The servers were so beyond welcoming, and nice, and made sure we felt comfortable and almost as if we were at home! Second off, I cannot express how incredible the food was. It was so heartwarming, flavorful, and just wow. Truly something you don't get everywhere. I got the seafood curry in the red coconut curry sauce with a side of white rice, and it was absolutely amazing. So good, I was so full but couldn't stop eating it!! Every bite just got better and better. I got my daughter the chicken noodle soup, and the broth was so delicious, it made you feel warm and cozy, and as if you were eating at someone's grandmas house. It was comforting, heartwarming, cozy, friendly, and welcoming, plus the food was beyond amazing. I will definitely be coming back, and I truly recommend it to anyone who wants to try it out! Thank you for the amazing service, food and such a wonderful visit!

food - 6/10 service - 6/10…read more Came here for a lunch with some friends wanting to try a new thai place. I would say, if u you a thai place you already like, just stick with it. The place was cute, you go up to the counter to order once you're done looking through the menu on the table and after you're done with dishes there's a place to put them all as well. The place was pretty empty when we first came in and when we tried ordering you should just ring the bell right away cause even if they see u through the kitchen they will not come out. We ordered from the lunch menu and I really tried to justify the proportions with it being the lunch price but none of us got full. There was mostly just vegetables in the all the dishes specifically peppers and none of the spicy dishes had any spice flavor to them. We ordered the thai coffee but it only came after we finished our dishes after constant ask of where the drink was. The place did start to get busy but the waitress never really came to our table until we tried calling her over about our coffee. We ended up asking to put it in a togo cup since we already paid for it but the size difference between the togo and sit in cup was pretty noticeable.

I'm not used to it but I like it. I would say this is a hidden gem. so check it out.
