We stopped by here for lunch, after a relaxed hike nearby. My friend mentioned that they dined here pretty regularly, so I was pretty excited for some delicious Thai food. I mean, I am never not excited for Thai food though, to be honest . . . We luckily slipped in right before there was a sudden onslaught of people started lining up - seems like this place is rather popular, which further bolstered my confidence! I tried the fresh vegetable rolls - which was okay - nothing super duper exciting. It's basically salad in a rice paper roll. I had the Basil Eggplant Tofu as my entree and I specified no fish sauce, no oyster sauce - vegan please. It arrived rather quickly and yeah, it was near perfect. There were generous fried tofu cubes and big chunks of tenderly cooked eggplant, and the sauce was surprisingly flavorful, for being vegan. Based on my experience, Thai recipes sometimes "suffer" a bit when you veganize them, but I was very glad that was not the case here! Service was prompt and attentive. The server was knowledgeable about what was vegan/could be veganized and checked on us throughout the meal. She wasn't the most quick to fill our water cups (and we were parched), although they provide rather small water cups for customers, so I'm sure this is probably just something to be patient about. Overall a lovely experience and one of the better Thai vegan dishes I've had in recent memory! read more

Went here for lunch on a Monday. They were busy but we were a group of 6 and got a table right away. We parked on meter street parking behind the building. The servers were soo attentive, refilling our waters and making sure we had everything we needed. They served a chicken noodle soup before the meal. We went with a group of some who love Thai food and some who don't have much experience eating it. This was the perfect place for both ends of the spectrum. The Thai lovers got pad Thai and red curry and said it was amazing. The ones who haven't eaten Thai a whole lot got the cashew chicken and pineapple rice, and they loved it!!! Right when you enter you get a small sense that you are transported to Thailand... The wait staff and dressed in traditional clothing and the music gives the same sense. They also give you a free small noodle soup in clear chicken broth to whet your palette. For appetizers, I got the special crispy corn money bags. It was very crispy but underwhelming in flavor. For the main, I got the Crispy Basil Fish -- lightly battered fish fillet in a yummy sweet and spicy chili sauce. It wasn't that spicy. The crispy basil chips on top were lacking flavor though. I used to be a regular at Thai Garden, and their food was consistently good for the area. However, my recent experiences have been nothing short of disappointing. Last night was the final straw. I ordered my usual, expecting the same decent taste, but what I received was a far cry from what it used to be. The rice was plain and bland, and the chili sauce was so watered down it was practically flavorless. Despite paying extra for additional sauce, it seemed like they diluted it even more. I used to live in the area, but I still travel to New Hampshire for work and often dine out while staying there. I won't be returning to Thai Garden. Their quality has declined to the point of being disgusting! We've been going to Thai Garden for years, and it's probably my favorite restaurant in Keene. I'd say we eat here once or twice a month, or get lunch take away We usually do all our errands at lunch time, this last time we were celebrating a birthday and I found out they had crispy duck during dinner, which is the birthday boys favorite. I had the mango curry with chicken and shrimp. I usually get things spiced or ask for the spice caddy. There are currently 4 kinds of crispy duck recipes on the menu, he decided on the crispy basil duck. We also got the crab Rangoons which are pretty standard. If we had more room I wanted to order the dessert special of fried banana and coconut ice cream, which we've had before and is delicious. I had hot tea he had Thai iced tea. Other favorite dishes are the panang, green, or mango curries, koi soi noodles, pad thai, drunken noodles, thom kha soup, tom yum, beef macadamia, fresh rolls, spring rolls, and seaweed salad. All the curries are delicious! I love the peanut sauce, I will say the tempura batter has changed and isn't as crispy as it was. For the record we still order them regularly. Staff is really personable and is chatty in the best of ways. You really feel comfortable and well taken care of going out here. I definitely recommend Thai Garden for a casual meal out or a special occasion destination. It's affordable and worth every penny! One request; Please offer green Papaya salad someday-it's my favorite and I have to drive an hour or more to get it. read more

Great place. I had the gai krapow (first time ever, shameful on my part) and the boss had her usual, pad Thai. The gai krapow was deeeelicious. A kick of spice and the ground chicken was seasoned wonderfully. Sweet, peppery, yummy. I took some of my wife's pad Thai noodles and dipped it into my sauce. Boy, it was good. Im so glad we stopped here for dinner on our way through town. We were greeted by a jolly host and and sat at a beautifully clothed table at a safe distance from others. We ordered delicious appetizers and nicely presented with carrots carved into flowers-Tod Man Pla, fresh garden rolls and a special Jai Ho sausage rolls. Everything tasted homeade, even the sauces and the seasonings were so complex and satisfying. My husband ordered Tom Yum Gai soup- which is what he always orders in Thai restaurants. Very good option in downtown Keene. I had the nam sod which is basically larb gai everywhere else. It couldve been spicier but was still very good. The chicken satay is good and the dumplings are delicious. The only thing unexpected about the dumplings is that theyre served sitting in the dipping sauce already.
