The location is quaint and has seating inside that isn't an after thought that is both visually pleasing and comfortable, there are some random items laying around that sort of look like the are more intending to be just take out with a eat in option, in fairness I think most of there business is take out. I have had more luck in eating in, the sauces are more flavorful than when I take to go, in some instances a drunken noodle or pad see ew would taste like it didnt have any sauce at all on it when I get it to go. Generally specials are worth trying and their prices are a decent quality for a meal or snack. Portions run decent for a pad thai i can make a couple meals out of it so I ask for peanuts and bean sprouts on the side. read more

I stopped by Thai Cafe on my way back to Boston from Monadnock. Thai Cafe is located in a cute little downtown area, with some other restaurants and shops nearby. It's a pretty casual spot with counter service. The staff was really friendly and chatted with us about things to do in the area. The decor seemed pretty random, with various memorabilia hanging on the walls. For the food, I was really impressed with the Peanut Noodle. The curry had a unique, rich flavor with plenty of noodles and protein. I wasn't a huge fan of the Drunken Noodle, as the noodles themselves seemed to be some kind of egg noodle, not the traditional rice noodle. It did have lots of vegetables, but it didn't really satisfy my Drunken Noodle craving. I ordered the spicy crispy chicken and they either forgot the sauce or the chicken absorbed the sauce and they were so dry and tasted like old cooking oil that they were inedible. I also tried the chicken satay. One menu says it comes with 2, another menu said it came with 4. It came with 2, and one was enough to know that it was just so-so. The peanut sauce was gelatinous and not appetizing. Maybe this is the best that this little town can do, but I have had good Thai food and this is just not good at all. Hmm... Another Thai food disappointment in NH.... 2nd worse Drunken Noodles ever. (Worst is still M Thai in Skohegan Maine). Noodles were not good. They looked more like fettuccine pasta than the usual expected flat wide rice noodles. Also, not spicy enough. Both dishes (the other one called Ka Pow...) were extremely salty.... Bleh.... I finally tried Thai Cafe again. I had come in the first year they were open, and I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was a bad day! The curries were watery that time, and the bamboo shoots were super stringy. After moving back to the area, I finally got the curry longings hard enough to give it a go again. I ordered a green curry chicken, and a red curry chicken both spicy. The meals were very tasty, but not very spicy. The Keene affiliated restaurant, really gets the spice hot level when we order it. I've been wanting to stop in and try the food here for quite some time and today I finally got a chance. Mom and I were out together and popped in to sample the menu. This is a very casual spot where you order your food and find a table. You get your own utensils and napkins and when you've finished eating you clean up your mess. But don't expect bland cafeteria style food here. This place is amazing! Mom and I both ordered the drunken noodles. I had mine with chicken and mom had hers with veggies. I had already started to eat when I remembered to take a picture. I also ordered spring rolls (you get two) and chicken satay (also two) for us to share. We both decided to have hot tea as well. The spring rolls were crispy and flavorful, the satay tasted like it had been cooked on an outdoor grill, and the tea was perfect! The drunken noodles we're cooked perfectly with small pieces of chicken all through. The spiciness was just right, although I admit I love spicy food so if you don't you may want to ask for a less spicy version. Everything is served on real plates, not paper or plastic. The young woman who took our order was extremely kind and helpful. She filled our tea cups and gave us to go covers as we left. I can't wait to go back and try something else! read more

The shu mai was a little unusual but I'd never tried shu mai before so maybe that was to be expected. We haven't ordered from Chef Bank's Thai Cafe for take-out before but we wanted something as a treat, and we're still not going to restaurants as the kids are too young to get shots yet. We called to see if we could pay over the phone and have curb-side delivery, and the friendly staff person who answered said that was no problem at all. We ordered, and when I went to pick up our meal, they brought it out promptly. As it turns out, they can also bring out a pad so I can pay at the car - way easier than reading a number over the phone. They make ordering take-out safe and easy. The food itself was great. My favourite was the pad thai, although we ordered a range of different dishes as we wanted the kids to try a range of things. A surprise favourite with the kids were the spinach rangoons, deep-fried wontons stuffed with spinach and cream cheese. When we're able to go in person I plan to try their "Inferno Noodle Challenge". Good food, friendly staff. They've got a nice PDF menu to download and we'll use it to keep track of what we've tried and what we want to get in future orders. I absolutely LOVE the Thai Cafe. They are fairly new to the area, but their meals never disappoint. I usually order take out on my lunch break. Their parking lot is small so you may have to park around the back of the building. They are always fast and friendly. My go to meal is the tofu Pad Thai. I'm kind of a Pad Thai snob and I love the flavors in this dish. The chili sauce also adds I nice flavor. If you wish to dine in they have a cute little cafe area. I ordered a shrimp pineapple fried rice and the taste was lackluster though a good portion of rice, it only included three shrimp which felt flimsy. The thai tea was mostly milk with hardly any orange tea in the actual drink. It just seemed watered down. The thai chive pancakes were the winner with great crunch, pungent chive flavor, wonderful texture, and a very sweet soy sauce for dipping. Overall, I don't think the taste or food quality matched the price point. I appreciate kind customer service and I just wish more for the food? Perhaps if I'm in Peterborough once again I'll try different items but if the fried rice is meant to be a standard, that's concerning. Everything here is good: the curries, the noodles (although the pad Thai is a little too sweet for me), everything is worthwhile. Love the chicken himapan! Always super friendly, super fresh and love the coupon card (buy 10, get one free). Wish they offered some more dishes like khao soi or even some with more heat (like my favorite spot in NYC "Ugly Baby!"). wow! who writes these reviews? so very disappointing! we ate here recently for a birthday lunch and it is unclean and unpleasant..poor ambiance,and the food was bland and salty,lacking any real thai flavor..the noodles dishes of which we had two were not warm enough, and the only thing half edible was the shrimp..to make matters much worse, the bathroom is old,unkept, with used toilet paper hanging on the bar rack..the soap dispenser was completely empty and a sign over it said :employees wash your hands.. when we approached the man behind the food counter to give us soap he said it's the landlord's job so he wouldnt give us any..considering we had just eaten there and given him a tip and that it is his restaurants restroom , it makes us wonder how this place ever passes inspection and how do the employees actually wash their own hands????food is poor, cleanliness is poor, customer service is poor, and we will not be coming back.. read more

Located right next to Ava Marie's icecream joint this cute little Thai place is basically in the heart and center of Peterborough. The prices are pretty low if you catch lunch specials and the food is about worth what you pay for it. The staff is super friendly as far as I am concerned and I really like the look and atmosphere of the place. Was expecting portions to come in a bit bigger but perhaps when you grab the dinner option after 4:30 the portions adjust with the price. All around average to semi above average food experience, nothing offensive but I doubt I'd take a date to eat there unless we'd grabbed about three or four drinks beforehand and she was dying for something spicy we could walk to. So, as others have mentioned, don't come here for friendly service and ambience. If you want authentic Thai in a small town in NH, look no further. We've eaten here many times and have not been disappointed. Do not overlook the specials! My favorites are the crispy chicken dishes but they also have great appetizers and hearty soups, stir fry and curry dishes. A warning: If you ask for spicy, this is exactly what you'll get. They do not hold back on the chilli if that's what you want! They have lots of condiments and complimentary ice water if you want to cool things off. The service is a bit 'icy'. Don't expect gratitude, conversation or even a smile. Perhaps it's a cultural thing but we don't really care. Bottom line: This establishment is fastideuosly clean and consistently good. Eat plenty of Thai all over the place and our two trips here have hit the mark. My wife and I have tried some of the noodle soups, drunken noodles and mango curry as well as dumplings. We saw the Pad Thai for all the PTOs out there and it looked very good. Chef is not afraid of the spice but not overly so. He does a great job balancing the sweet, heat and acid in the dishes. Word of advice, if you want to add spice and use the available red chili sauce....go easy and add gradually, it has some potency. The Yum yum chicken noodle soup is fantastic but just keep in mind servings are huge. The tempura shrimp and pad thai are delicious too. They are quick, friendly, clean, delicious and not expensive. since the chinese place we normally order from in the area closed down i gave this a try having liked thai food in other areas. we had a large order since i wanted to try a good number of things and while a bit expensive the portions were mostly respectable ( 15 items during lunch hours came to about $150) , but i'll say it was all pretty good with the exception of a couple things. the appetizers are too small to recommend , but if the fried dumplings were twice the size i definately would . the scallion pancakes had almost no flavor tho. my fiancée's Garden Delight Stir-Fry beef was a bit overcooked in his opinion , but everyone else seemed happy i would definitely order again.
