Scallion pancake
Nicole N.

We stopped here for lunch on Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. The soup dumplings were our favorite. We also ordered the scallion pancake, sticky rice with chicken, and the rice roll with xo sauce. This was enough food for two people. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. She always made sure we were taken care of. I would come back again.

Was here on a Saturday night with a group of seven and had no advance reservation. We called before going and were told that there would be space. After a bit of a wait, we were seated at a table. Between the seven of us, we ordered two chicken soup dumplings, dry pot chicken, general gau's chicken, sweet & sour chicken, orange chicken, deep fried shrimp & chive dumplings, a scorpion bowl, and the sparerib in black bean sauce. The food came out as it was ready. As the name of the place suggests, the dumplings were good. The portions are large and some of the dishes were more fried than expected.

Westbound, hungry, and driving through an unusually slow traffic, it was only a matter of time before my itching fingers and fiendishly famished stomach determined the next course of action. Swerved off the next exit, pulled up a list of nearby restaurants, rerouted, and floored it. Fudge it. Hungry. Don't care. Hungry. Just drive like another M@$$hole and get this nonsense over with. U Dumpling House had immediately caught my attention. I couldn't recall where I had read about it but it was positive. Now that it's just a few minutes away from where I was, why the heck not? Dimsum and soup dumplings? Can't go wrong right? Then again, I don't ever remember anyone this hungry complain about anything in the moment until *way* after the meal... So I rapidly ordered away like it was my last meal before I met my maker. Stuck to the usual choices to see their take on classic dim sum dishes. Best part? Food didn't take long at all to trickle in straight from the kitchen (no dim sum cart here, as expected). While the preparation was slightly different from what I've been accustomed to for the last few decades, I found their style both pleasant and tasty. At least, most of it was...and I would have given them 5 stars easily if it wasn't for a few missteps that I can't let slide. Dry Sautéed String Beans. As good as your version is...the word "dry" means a particular technique that does not involve blanching the beans. I expected something but received something else. That one step has a different texture and matters to those who know this dish well. Moreover, I expected the soup dumplings, which you are famous for, to stand out. I can't say it did and that's me being nice. Anyways, I definitely recommend anyone in the immediate area craving Chinese food or dim sum to at least try them out once. You may end up being one of those several regulars there that day that obviously frequent this place.

Pan Fried Dumplings

My 11 year old fell in love with soup dumplings on daytrip to Chinatown, so I was thrilled to find a place in the suburbs that have yummy soup dumplings. It has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and a pretty big menu for a dumpling place if you want more than dumplings. Recommend if you are looking for dumplings and they have vegan friendly options too.

I really liked this place! Quick and attentive service, solid dumplings. I only docked a star because we ordered the flat noodles with beef(not pictured) and they were a bit of a disappointment: I think they forgot to put any sauce on them. But for a place known for their dumplings, the dumplings certainly delivered.

Cumin tofu, stir fry flat noodle, Steamed Sticky Rice Siu Mai, and wonton soup. All delicious.

Came for the first time and will 100% be back. I got the cumin tofu and stir fry flat veggie noodles and they were both amazing. The atmosphere is also great - lots is beautiful plants. Very friendly service as well. The cumin tofu is very spicy fyi

I have driven by you dumpling many times and finally stopped to try it today. It did not disappoint. Everything was so flavorful is my first time trying soup dumplings so I got assorted soup dumplings six different kinds so good. The exterior doesn't look like much when you're driving by the inside was nice and it was clean, they have a bar full bar. We will definitely be back again. Service was phenomenal.

Pork and Chive Dumplings-fried

Rarely get to this area but we stopped in because we were hungry and we love dumplings! The inside is very clean and pleasant. Each unused table has a long stemmed flower atop the table which might be an indication that the table has been cleaned and ready for the next patron-it's a pretty touch. There are cool screen like wrought iron structures with wood cutouts separating the two dining rooms resulting in a cool aesthetic. We started with the boneless spare ribs which were very tasty-very tender and sliced thinly making it very easy to eat. They had a slight sweetness to them -very delicious. We had the pork and chive dumplings and the mixed soup dumplings. Love them all!! Thanks to a previous reviewer who suggested putting the dumpling on the soup spoon, poking holes in the top to allow the steam to escape and then pouring the sauces on top. When biting into the dumpling the soup pours onto the spoon. Such a great tip! The mixed soup dumplings came with a pork, a shrimp & pork, a crabmeat & pork, pork & truffle, chicken and beef. They were all amazing-particularly liked the pork and truffle since the truffle was not overpowering. The chicken broth and the dumpling tasted like chicken soup on a spoon! They all are so cute also! We also got the pork buns to complete our meal and they were also amazing! Sometimes pork buns are dry and doughy to me, but these were perfect! Our server was super friendly and explained menu items with detail. An enjoyable lunch and look forward to going back when we return!

Lobster, good deal for $20
Jannet C.

This place was just ok. We ordered the lobster with ginger and onions, bc it was a great price of $20. This was the best dish we ordered there. It was flavorful, but slightly over cooked. We also got a soup dumpling, which was good, but not anything special. The skin was a bit soft for my taste. We also got a beef rice roll, and this was not good at all. With so many options in that area, we are unlikely to go back.

Food is good but a little expensive, plus these days they expect you to pay 25% tips, this makes eating out very expensive.

Lotus Blossom - Pork Fried Rice

Lotus Blossom

First few visits back after they reopened after fire damage were good. All weeknight dinner visits…read more -- Har Gow: Shrimp dumplings fresh and flavorful, but the vessels were so gummy they stuck to each other and the serving tin. Average. -- Beef Teriyaki: A four-stick serving had bumpy, lightly-charred and lightly sweet surfaces, along with good tenderness underneath. Decent marinade flavor. Above average to well above average. -- Mongolian Beef: An outstanding presentation of beef slivers thick enough to be tender, while also getting nicely crisp and a vigorous flavor superior to the teriyaki. Scallions added some extra kick in addition to the sauce. Really good feel and really good taste bring it really close to elite. -- Pork Fried Rice: Lovers of dark pork fried rice are in for a treat, because this is among the darkest and has dark flavor to match. Fresh, hot, not a reheat, and not sitting for hours. I could do without the peas, but all of the other additions-- egg, onion, bean sprouts, and big chunks of fresh pork-- were top notch. A benchmark rice if you're into this style. Elite. -- Chicken with Ginger and Scallion: Long and winding chicken with good tenderness and noticeable ginger flavor, with bold scallions the unsung hero. Closer to a very good dish than a great dish, but bonus points for being neither sweet nor spicy, but still bringing plenty of flavor. -- Chicken Fried Rice: Another example of bold, dark, fresh-cooked rice, this time with chicken. I was expecting shreds and got finger-length pieces that were much more impressive. Elite. -- Boneless Ribs: Lightly lacquered with shiny cross sections, so they were moist, but a bit fatty. Above average for sure, but not elite or close like some other dishes. -- Chicken Fingers: Fresh, hot, and crisp, with some small ones less dazzling, but most pleased. Good meat-to-batter ratio. Optional sweet and sour sauce add-on did dazzle, coming in sweet but dark ruby color and complex. Not your daddy's sauce; this didn't have pineapples and cherries but it did have more flavor. -- Chicken Teriyaki: Charring, coating, tenderness, juiciness, and marinade all combined to make this one of the better renditions. Well above average to near elite. -- Yuen Yang Beef: Very impressive dish, from the quantity, to the textures (perfect on both the beef and the bed of string beans), to the flavors (savory-tingly on the beef, though without much heat, and gingery on the string beans). -- Duck Sauce: Barely a variation from straight apple sauce. Not a strength. Only negative on service is that sometimes one server handles the entire dining room, so there might be waits, but even still, service is always friendly and efficient. This place sometimes gets a bad rap for being expensive, but I believe the quality warrants the prices and that there's good value thanks to execution and consistency.

Lunch time is still relatively busy with about half the tables being taken but no wait. At peak times, the lines can get quite long. Upon being seated, the tables are clean and the staff is prompt in seating you and clearing your finished plates. At lunch time, the raw bar is still open with clams and oysters available. There's also tons of sushi options, both nigiri and maki. I will say that the food isn't the highest quality but you get tons of variety so there's something for everyone. Last time I went, I got a plate from the raw bar and the sushi area and then spent the rest of the time in the hot food section. I really enjoyed the dim sum area with dumplings and buns. There was also various cooked fish and seafood available. I was very excited that there was fish maw soup available - it isn't as high quality as what you would get at a Chinese banquet but I really enjoyed it as it's usually a rare treat for me. Another huge plus is the drink and dessert options! You can either order soft drinks directly from the servers when you're being seated or you can find a variety of premade bubble tea and other canned/pouched drinks available in the dessert area closest to the left wall (on the wall behind the sushi station). There's a large selection of authentic Asian drinks - I usually go for the grass jelly when I'm stopping in. I would say Sora is worth trying out, especially for a weekday lunch meal if you're able. The variety and selection and expansive so there's something for everyone from your pickier eaters to your more exploratory eaters.
