We stopped by here for lunch and from what I've heard about this restaurant, I was expecting so much more. I wouldn't categorize this food as authentic Chinese food at all. Everything comes out in plastic containers even if you're dining in. You're using single use plastic silverware. The plates were the only thing that wasn't plastic. The dumplings (we ordered the pork and chicken ones) were so-so and reminded me of frozen dumplings you can get at the store. The lo mein was okay, but it reminded me of something I could get at a chain fast-food Chinese restaurant. Sharing a side entrance with Heirloom, I wanted to try this dumpling-centric restaurant next door. I had the pan seared pork and cabbage dumplings and pan seared Shanghainese buns, which were fresh and flavorful. The interior has beautiful decorations including a large vase and especially gorgeous and endearing aquatic and nature-themed bathroom wallpaper. One odd thing is even when you eat there, they serve the food on plastic containers and plastic silverware, which many others have commented on too. But all in all Dumpling Daughter is a great place and I'd happily visit again. read more

Sorry - I just can't understand why folks like this place except for convenience. The dumplings are doughy, the katsura chicken was very dry, and the crab rangoon shell was too thick and not light and crispy. The 2 shrimp dishes were good but pricey at $27 each. Pretty good dumplings. I liked that I could taste the cabbage in the pork and napa cabbage pan seared dumplings. The service was pleasant and I'd go back to try another type of dumplings or bun. I tried the Shangainese bun which was okay but I feel like I'd enjoy the roasted BBQ pork bun more. I do agree with other reviews that the abundant use of single use plastic is kind of surprising. As an example, you tell them you're eating there and they serve the food in plastic to-go containers even when your intention is to eat food there. The only item that is washable that they provide seems to be small plates that you can eat your food off of. The utensils are plastic and you only know that there are chopsticks available when you're throwing away items from your meal. It is a really nicely decorated establishment. There are beautiful vases, wallpaper especially in the restroom. I do think there is some wear and tear with the dining tables but it shows that it's being used. I would come back though. read more

We enjoyed our dinner at Dumpling Daughter last night. The pan seared dumplings are consistently delicious and high quality. My husband enjoyed the kimchi fried rice with egg, adding beef to the dish, and the kids got mango boba tea. It is an order at the counter and sit at tables that lack silverware or place settings yet it is the perfect place for a family and group to sit over a casual meal or a place for a snack. The food comes in real dishes and one can get real silverware. Glasses were plastic cups. It works and a really nice room Then the food. All gone. Tried dumplings and they were stars. Scalian pancakes great and ate too many. Won ton soup classic and flavorable. Nothing went to waste. Most helpful is their knowledge of allergies. I'm not local, so I stopped by during a roadtrip. I had come here many years ago and very much enjoyed my experience then, but I'm sad to say that my recent visit did not match my memories/expectations. I was shocked that even in my dine-in order, my food was served to me in plastic take out containers. Even for my noodle soup, the broth was served in a separate container, and I had to pour it over the noodles myself. And then there was only trash - no options for recycling all of these plastic containers - so wasteful. As for the food itself, the dumplings were tasty. The grandma beef noodle was dry and not enough sauce or topping. The Beef soup noodle was okay. The pork belly rice was good. The dumpling schesuan sauce: the dumpling skin was too thick but the sauce made up for it. I usually don't like schesuan taste but this one is very good. Not spicy what so ever but very tasty. Top 3 orders: Fried chicken bao buns: everything about these are literally perfection. The crispy chicken, SUCH flavorful sauce, breading, and the textures of the bao buns contrasting with the chicken are perfection. Would highly recommend - these are a crowd pleaser for sure! Grandma's Beijing meat sauce over spaghetti: this has always been my #1 order in terms of a main dish. The sauce is incredibly unique and has both beef and beans - I've never been a fan of beans but this is SO GOOD!! I could eat 5 bowls in a sitting... Scallion pancakes: can you ever go wrong with these? No, but also...DD does them ESPECIALLY right. I would highly recommend as a side!! I stopped by Dumpling Daughter in Weston for takeout recently. They are doing takeout only due to the pandemic. I placed my order online and it was ready for pickup 25 minutes later as promised. When you arrive, just call the number posted on the window and your order is brought out to you. I ordered the Three Day Pork Ramen ($12) with Extra Noodles (add $2) and Steamed BBQ Pork Buns (3 for $6). The dry ramen ingredients (in a bowl) and ramen broth (plastic container) were packed separately, pour broth onto dry ingredients when ready to eat. The ramen dish was very good, served very hot which had tender pork belly, quail eggs, bamboo, ginger, seaweed and scallions in a rich tasting pork broth, not too salty. The steamed bbq pork buns were nice and soft outside, filled with modest amounts sweet tangy chopped BBQ pork pieces inside. Overall, I enjoyed a very good takeout meal and hope to dine-in here for dumplings once the national crisis is over. read more

Had the scallion lo mein, and the chicken dumplings. I liked the chicken dumplings and the noodles were alright. There was a huge portion of the noodles! I did not like the donuts. It was a delivery order and it was quick and efficient. The to go containers held up during the drive as well. The bubble tea cover was sealed well and did not spill. Too much single use plastic! We enjoyed our lunch at dumpling daughter. Very tasty. But it would have been infinitely more enjoyable if served on non-plastic tableware. We had a fantastic experience at Dumpling Daughter the other evening. At the recommendation of a fellow Yelper, we ordered three type of dumplings; pan seared pork & cabbage, chicken, and vegetarian. Even after a 10 minute drive home, they were still crispy as they were not covered in a lot of oil. Also, the batter was thin and not that very thick, doughy type that you get at many Asian/Chinese restaurants. . In fact, a few minutes in the air fryer the next day they were just as good...and maybe with a little more crunch. Delicious! While not usually a fan myself, friends wanted to try the steamed BBQ Pork buns. Three came in an order and they were separated nicely with paper so not to become a stuck together mess on the drive home. They found them to be very good, but a little light on the filling compared to the overall size of the bun. The buttery miso noodles were also ordered with vegetables and the healthy serving size in a bowl made for easy sharing onto smaller plates. Scallion pancakes were ordered and like the dumplings were still very crispy after the drive. Moreover, they were far thinner than most other restaurants and not soaked in oil. Very good! An order of chicken and broccoli was also ordered, but with all of the other food was less popular. Lastly, and perhaps my favorite were the organic chicken cutlet buns. Served with the vegetables and sauces (no mayo) they were crunchy and delicious. Next time we will order a second item since there are just 2 to an order. Overall, very good food with easy to get to convenience. In the sleepy little town of Weston, they close at 8PM, so don't wait to call or book your order on line. They even allow you to indicate any food allergies with each item which is very helpful when you actually do have someone with a shellfish allergy to advise them about. read more

I was pretty disappointed in the bbq pork buns, it didn't have the right flavor, texture, or color to the bbq pork that I expected. The pork belly baos were filled with pretty big pieces which made the bao enjoyable to eat. There was enough sauce on the pork belly with the super-soft bao bun made a great combination. I have been here a few times but this place is very mediocre with very fusion type of noodle and rice bowls. Their ramen is yellow chinese noodles. Their rice bowls is 85% rice with few slices of meat and toppings. Their buns and dumplings taste like frozen buns thrown in a steamer. Never hot. A few weeks ago, I dropped by this place to get takeout lunch since they don't have dine-in service yet. I ordered the pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings, braised pork belly buns, and the pan fried pork buns. The pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings were amazing. Although it's not the bursting juice type of dumpling, they were still very delicious. I like how they put some ginger bits inside the meat. The braised pork belly buns came with a slab of pork belly, cilantro, slivered cucumber and hoisin sauce. It was very savory although I wish the pork belly was more of a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Sometimes this is what you want, and other times you find yourself at Dumpling Daughter because there is no other choice in the area. I was tempted to give Dumpling Daughter a 2 based on the gap between expectation and actual experience, but the rating that feels right is 3. It's not that there's anything terrible about the place; it's just that there's no real oomph. Two visits have yielded buns and dumplings that were okay, nothing special. They felt a little tired with flavor muted compared to similar restaurants; the dipping sauce was one-note (no additions) and similar to storebought. On our first visit, we spotted frozen dumplings being poured out of plastic bags into a steamer. On the plus side, I'd say there's good value considering the dumplings are a buck apiece and there's convenient parking. Treat it less as a destination and more as a convenient stop when nearby and you'll do okay. read more
