Less flavorful and a bit lower quality than some other, more expensive spots, but a solid choice for a casual night of Chinese takeout when price and convenience is a concern. We frequent Joy Luck mostly because of the moo shi which, for some reason, can be hard to find on take out menus. Dislike that they charge for rice ($3.5 for small, $7 for large) but I guess they keep their prices low by keeping things basic. I'd say that all of the dishes are a solid 3.5 stars but a good value. The peking duck is not the best that I've had but pretty good for $28 for 1/2 a duck. Paradise chicken came with snow pea shoots and mushrooms which I enjoyed, but the chicken itself was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. Basil eggplant was good, but the tofu was fried when I would have preferred it steamed. However, I was quite pleased with my experience. The hot and sour soup was delicious and had a good amount of spice. The Peking ravioli were HUGE and quite yummy. I've seen other reviewers say that they felt the ravioli were too doughy but I thought they were fine as is. Beef teriyaki skewers were also delicious. The sauce was disgusting. The Peking ravioli had dried meat soaked in soy sauce. Garlic chicken was not labeled as spicy and I do like spicy sometimes but it was so spicy it was inedible. I ordered takeout from Joy Luck last Wednesday, what I thought was a lunch special and unfortunately my experience with this establishment was less than satisfactory. I called in and asked about their lunch specials because there was nothing on their online menu that specified the lunch specials. The man I spoke to suggested Chicken Fried Rice and then told me I could pick an appetizer so I chose crab rangoon. He told me it would be 8.95 plus tax. The delivery guy arrived I saw the check and my head nearly exploded, 14.25 I gave him a 2 dollar tip and then I called Joy Luck to ask why it was so high. The man then proceeded to tell me there was an extra charge for the chicken and because the combo I chose wasn't a regular one they offer they added another surcharge. I was very upset on the phone because no one had ever told me this, he had suggested this to me and told me the total without talking about the surcharge. A woman then came on the line, presumably the manager and told me this charge was for chicken and the crab rangoon I then proceeded to tell her exactly what transpired during the order, he had suggested it, he had never told me about additional fees. I would have gotten pork fried rice if that's the case. I told her I wanted a refund of two dollars, she said ok. Today is Tuesday the charges cleared and its 16.25 (including tip). Unprofessional, and though the food was decent Ill never go again simply because of the way I was treated. For my first time there I was hoping for a decent experience. Krua Thai down the street is better and they actually put their lunch specials on their menu and don't overcharge you. read more

I really like the food but I'm sick of the delivery guy. He is very aggressive about his tip. I usually tip $5 for delivery. Maybe I'm off, but I feel like that's a reasonable amount when I'm ordering $40 worth of food. But the guy goes out of his way to tell me how long it took him to get here and how inconvenient it is. I've been ordering from them for a long time now. We love there food but after todays experience I don't think I will order delivery from them again. First it's $3 for delivery okay that's fine we gave them delivery man the money and he complains about the tip. I don't understand why you have a delivery fee if your guys are using there own vehicles and not yours for who is that going to? And don't question a tip you get because no one has to tip its a nice gesture. You can't expect to get a tip. Maybe your management should change the delivery fee and maybe you would get a better tip or better yet that $3 fee can go to you! read more

Check your bill! We ordered $38.85 worth of food and were charged $41.75 plus tax. When I asked about the difference on the phone when placing the order, they said that I probably have an old menu. I thought, fine, no big deal. But when I went in to pick up my food, I asked for a new menu and learned that the one I have is the current menu. When I asked about the price difference, they blamed it on the computer! The $3 difference isn't a big deal, but I can't handle dishonesty!
