We sat in the dining area, near the door, it was cold. It was between lunch and dinner. The waiter just ignored us for a while. He was bothered by our presence. We wanted to order a chow mein dish with rice and apps He served us a dish that was not what we ordered . Then we told him he didn't care. The food was cold too. The food here is generic Chinese and is quite tasteless and boring. I had the Szechuan chicken and it was bland and not spicy at all. The order contained one hot red pepper but the spiciness did not transfer to the food. There were no vegetables at all in the order. We also had a specialty chicken dish which was essentially moo goo gai pan with fewer vegetables. This was very bland and almost inedible. We had both hot and sour soup and wonton soup. Both had a funny taste and were different than we have ever had anywhere else. The only thing we had that could be considered to be tasty was the egg rolls although they were expensive. in fact everything seemed to be a few dollars more than at other area restaurants with much lower quality. Is it the best.... no, but it's good. If I want a real Chinese meal, this isn't my first choice, but it will do in a pinch. This was a staple restaurant for us, but boy has the food gone downhill! Either they lost their chef or they just don't care about the food anymore and too busy counting their $. Ordered Chow fun with Pork, which was the worst I've ever had at this place. Pork was so chewy and bland, similar to the bland flavor of the Chow fun itself. Scallion pancakes were dry and inedible, they used to have really good scallion pancakes, now just shoe leather that they try to pass as them. Chicken satay was again dry and flavorless and quite honestly inedible as well. I am so disappointed I used to love Cherry Blossom. My recommendation is for anyone looking for Chinese food to spend their hard earned $$ at another restaurant, whatever they had...they lost it. read more

My daughter lived near here so we stopped in for lunch. Our first observation was a couple of regulars from the lounge sitting by the front door chain smoking and scowling (probably not at us, but reflecting upon their disgusting habit?) But I digress... Solid three stars... not bad, not great. I feel that even mediocre Chinese food is better than none at all, so keep that in mind! Scorpion bowl wasn't bad, although I prefer when they are orange in color vs. pink. They have a buffet which seems to be very popular and is refilled often. Ordered cold noodles with sesame sauce, but what arrived at the table looked like vomit on a plate. I actually took a photo before eating it (and in fairness it tasted better than it looked.) My friend and I went here for dinner last night. We arrived around 9:45, the posted hours on the door say they are open until 11. So why were we rushed through our dinner and forced to leave before 10:30? Service was the worst I've had yet and super rude. We sat down, and had barely opened the menu when our waitress (who was standing over us) said "hurry order now because the kitchen is closing" My friend ordered a Pupu platter for 2, I ordered veggie lomein and steamed white rice. But the waitress gave us some BS "white rice is too much for you it's $2 extra you already ordered a lot of food" We were shocked as we are grown women, and are spending money at your restaurant so don't judge ??! After being fat-shamed and talked down to, my friend and I sipped our waters and contemplated leaving because who wants to be judged while enjoying Chinese food? Our food came out pretty fast which was concerning. The presentation of our pupu platter was cool with a tiny fire in the middle. I'll link a picture of it. The veggie lomein tasted the same as any other cheap restaurant does. Nothing special. And of course no rice! Our waitress disappeared as soon as we made space on the table for the platters. She didn't come back to our table for quite a while, not even to refill our drinks. I did see her peeking at us from around the corner on occasion though. I grabbed her attention when she was walking by once and told her I never got my rice. She loudly goes "oh! You wanted that??" with massive attitude and under her breath while walking away said "but you already have so much" Ugh. When she finally came back with the rice (yay!) she dropped the check and a couple fortune cookies on our table. We were still eating and obviously engaged in conversation. She stood at our table and angrily stared at us while we finished our meals which made us really, really uncomfortable. When we paid, she immediately opened the booklet. She laughed at what we gave her, saying "you tip more I waited on you for an hour" and wouldn't take no for an answer. For the absolute shit service, judgement, and massive attitude, she did not deserve more than $2. After quite an ordeal we ended up giving her a regretful 20%. Every year my brother-in-law invites the entire family here to dinner for the buffet and every year we leave thinking the same thing - AWFUL! We literally went to dinner days before at one of the best in Boston's Chinatown (Peach Farm) before coming here so I have something fresh in my mind to compare this to. Let me make a major caveat first. This is chinese american food. This is not authentic chinese food by any means. So if you're looking for what you'd find in Chinatown then this is the wrong place. But if you want sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoons, fried noodles, and fried chicken wings then this is your restaurant. They make an effort to cook the authentic chinese dishes but to disastrous results. We always come for the buffet because of the all you can eat lobster (offered only on certain weeknights) but it's far from a saving grace. On our recent visit, some of the more "authentic" dishes we ate were beef and broccoli, shu mai (dim sum pork dumplings), spicy green beans, spicy fried squid, fried rice, lobsters with scallions and ginger, and shrimp with snow peas. Everything was bland and tasteless. Fried items often had a heavy coating of flour and soaked in oil. We also got won ton soup but all the dumplings were raw. Of course, we discovered this after my daughter finished off her bowl. The bright spots of the buffet were the fresh honeydew melon and longan fruit (canned though). I can't comment on the regular menu because we always do the buffet. They do have a full menu from what I can tell. They have a full bar too complete with scorpion bowls and mai tais. The service itself was fine. They seem very accomodating and friendly. It's family friendly and good for groups too. I don't know what they charge for the buffet but I imagine it's around $20/person. Overall, I didn't find the food quality to be very high. In terms of value, you get quantity over quality. We were the ONLY chinese (or asian for that matter) family eating in the restaurant which is a huge tell tale sign whenever you are eating in an chinese restaurant. I used to love this restaurant when I was a kid. Every now and then me and my family would go to the buffet and it was like an event. They easily had one of the best buffets in the area. Cherry Blossom used to be the choice destination for take-out by my family, but in recent years the price and quality of food have started to travel in different directions. Went, after not having gone for months because the quality of the food had gone down hill. What? No lobster? Buffet was not up to par. The quality is just not there anymore. This place is almost the opposite from the Asian restaurant down the street. It looks horribly outdated and greasy but the food is delicious. Much more reasonably priced, takeout comes with rice. The buffet is of decent quality, albeit a small assortment of food. For some reason the buffet rice is always dry to the point where its hard/crunchy in the buffet which is a shame and an easy fix if they just set up a cooker or something. Biggest minus is the smoking shed they have in front, for some reason I every time I'm there there's someone smoking which is not really appetite inducing going into a restaurant. read more
