We go here about once a week. I love the lychee martini. I asked him not to make it too sweet they always make it just perfect. I love the salmon sashimi I love the egg drop soup. They also have an appetizer that is like little noodle pillows that you have to order pretty quickly cause it takes a while to make. I can't remember the name of it but it's delicious. The sushi rolls are really good. I have several favorites but they're all pretty good. I think I've tried just about all of them, but the most important part of our experience is the service. I was here for a special party and there were birthdays going on all over the place that night. Staff were awesome. They have bar drinks and bottled beer if you aren't eating. The place was packed, but we got seated right away. It looked as if they were short staffed as I only saw a couple of waitresses covering the whole restaurant. As such, it took awhile for one of them to acknowledge us, but once that happened, the service was very good. The food was excellent as I'm accustomed to and it was served very quickly after it was ordered. We also ordered a Scorpion Bowl for 2 and it packed quite the punch. I have been coming to Milford Mandarin for years now and I'm treated like family. I'm a big proponent of the bar section to grab some great Chinese food (general gous and Lomein). The sushi is a big hit too. The mai tai is the main attraction. Hands down the best mai tai i've ever had! Try the vodka mai tai (twist on the rum mai tai). The servers are more than friendly and the managers always treat me well! 10/10 recommend if you're in the Milford area! read more

Went on New Years Eve...got seated right away but took over 20 minutes for a waitress to come over and take a drink order. Once we gave our order we never saw our waitress again. Someone else brought out the food and my daughter never got the sushi she ordered. The waitress never came back to check on us or offer refills in drinks. 30 minutes after we finished eating we had to ask the hostess for our check since our waitress never reappeared. We placed an order today for Chicken Wings, Fried Rice and Vegetable Delight. It took them an hour to have it ready (which is fine, I guess...). When we got home, we realized the order was messed up. We got chicken wings, fried rice and lo mien. We called to explain the order was partially wrong. We asked for the order to be adjusted to deduct the lo mien. The lady would not honor the request. In stead, she offered to adjust the bill only if we came back to the restaurant to return the Lo Mien. Or, to wait for half an hour more to get the Vegetable Delight originally ordered. I went to Madarian for lunch with my husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law a couple of times over the past two months. Due to COVID restrictions the restaurant was not very busy with dine in customers. The food however was freshly prepared and delicious. We started with hot and sour soup, egg rolls and boneless spareribs. The egg rolls were crispy and ribs tender. We shared lemon chicken and Kung Pao chicken. Both were tasty. The chicken was moist unlike other oriental restaurants where the chicken is sometimes dry. We'll definitely be back! read more

Like nearly everyone else who has reviewed the Mandarin, we've been going for years. We sit almost exclusively at the bar. For as often as we go, we've had great nights where the food is heaven; where the beef, the chicken, or the bobo is just perfect. And we've had nights where the crab rangoons are only warm and need to be replaced or the chicken fingers are a bit too batter-y. Regardless, we've always been well taken care of whatever the problem. The mai-tai, on the other hand, can do no wrong. I've never had a bad one and we've enjoyed quite a number of mai-tais there. If you want something fun, try the Goose Tai (Vodka in place of the Rum). I'm not sure where the complaints about service are coming from. Maybe things are different at the back tables, but the bar service is impeccable. Friendly, attentive, and professional. If it seems like everyone knows everyone else and the staff is chatting everyone up, it's because this is Chinese Cheers and, as everyone's review already says, we've all been coming here for years :). read more

Ordered ~$80 in sushi post tip for pickup (Mandarin Garden combo thing) for my wife (allergic to gluten) and I for her birthday. I asked for them to make sure it was gluten free. When I got home, all of the soy was not gluten free, all of the rolls had imitation crab (not gluten free) and one had tempura in it. When I called to find out "is this real crab" and / or "is this gluten free tempura" the manager (Frank) quickly got on the line and said they couldn't guarantee any of their sushi at the restaurant is gluten free. When I asked him why I wasn't told this before I completed the order / paid. He said it was a miscommunication and he would speak with the gentleman who took my order. No refund, partial or otherwise was offered, nothing but "I'm sorry" and "I'll talk to him". People with food allergies beware. Milford Mandarin doesn't seem to care about food safety after they have received payment. read more

Food just ordered in take out seems different than months ago. Portions smaller. Chicken teriyaki with asparagus seems the chicken are large chicken that had grill marks. Flavor not great veges not cooked soft. Beef with broccoli had a lot of broccoli but less beef. Duck sauce seemed different in color n sweetenes. Did they change chefs? They used to be better before they remodeled a while back. We literally had our chicken fingers taste raw when we bit into them which is why we stay away from them now. I do the sushi bc I figure if I'm going to get raw food it better be what I like - i.e. the sushi. The golden dragon is a good choice. Their cocktails are still very good. So...I've gone year for many years and it's always a mixed review. Covid doesn't affect this review because it would be an excuse for cold food If I order a BoBo platter. It's the standard chicken fingers and wings and crab Rangoon, beef skewers, etc. you get it. I always get pork fried rice on the side. (Side note...I've live in this town for 54 yrs) The rice comes barely warm and the chicken fingers aren't warm at all as if they forgot to microwave them (we know they sit there per-cooked, which is fine, but cold isn't). The beef is steaming hot, but egg rolls are cold!!! They are well-established here, but when my fabulous waitress, Candy, says, "oh, I'll make it hotter!" That doesn't make the food better. Just makes the food take longer to get to you. Today I ordered chicken fingers and pork fried rice. I said, "can you be sure everything is very hot?" Yep! Chicken fingers came out and rice didn't. Rice comes out ten mins later and it's cold. Candy is busy at this point and takes 15 mins to come back. She took rice and microwaved it then it came back just barely warm. She said, "they are very busy back there but made the rice warm!" Sigh, they get 2 stars for the past two years from me. I don't come often, but I want Chinese every now and then. Won't be coming back soon. And I never put a negative post, but you simply can't just keep saying everything is great when it's not or it's COVID's fault! It just isn't! Rant over!! I have only had the buffet here but it is wonderful. The one draw back is that it is only offered on the weekends. I wish they could have it during the weekdays too, even if it was just at certain times. There is no comparison between Mandarin and Imperial Buffet which is down the street. I went to Imperial for far to long, before I found Mandarin, and had to deal with their pushy and overbearing waiters/waitresses. You will get the opposite at Mandarin - really friendly staff that never pressure you to pay before you done eating and you will never witness them coming by to take yourr plates while you are still eating off of them! Mandarin rocks. If you are looking for great quality food that is delicious and low in salt then this is the place for you. Buffet price is reasonable too - I want to say around $12 - $14 per person - which is a bit on the expensive side for a buffet, but I would much rather pay a couple bucks more and come to Mandarin than ever go to Imperial again.
