Hang Tai Too on a mid-Saturday afternoon was not very busy and a good time for me and my husband to take my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for a late lunch. It was Phase 2 of the COVID 19 reopening so dining indoors was allowed. Five tables and 3 booths were available. Our waitperson wore a mask and gloves and the tables appeared to be sanitized. We ordered spicy beef on green beans and udon noodles with pork which were both delicious. We also ordered crispy lemon chicken and a PuPu platter for two. The lemon chicken tasted ok but was tough. The platter was ok but forgettable. Egg rolls texture was not crunchy and flaky, doused in soy sauce made them tasty ok. The boneless ribs were tough and chewy. Fried chicken wings and cream cheese wontons were dry. The only things enjoyable were the beef skewers. Service was attentive. We'll be back, but stick with what we know is good.

$1.00 per piece of chicken tasty but not worth $15 for 15 pieces of chicken

Excellent food. Excellent drinks. Stellar service. Try the Salt & Pepper Shrimp. HT2 is truly the best in the game.

Great food and service! Fun environment at night too. Food always tastes fresh and great portionsread more

A few more visits, a few more items. Same score…read more -- Chicken Wings: Once coming in near-perfect in size, crispness, tenderness, juiciness, and strength of the five spice marinade. This is a must order every visit. Elite and arguably the best in the region. -- Beef Teriyaki: Merely good on the first visit, but superb on the next. Great combination of light char, good tenderness, and gingery taste. Near-elite to elite. -- Spareribs on the Bone: Recently added, this had sweet, bright red sauce, the all-important char, but the browned cross sections (and slightly cold bites on some) revealed a reheat. A little on the tough side. Flavor, yay; texture, nay. Average. -- Beef Fried Rice: Not old school at all, but very good as simply rice. Fresh, light of color and texture, but pleasing silky. Plenty of tender beef, supported by egg, onion, and bean sprouts. This could be a meal on its own. Well above average and more impressive than the photo suggests. -- General Gao's Chicken: A beautiful presentation, with the chicken nestled in a circular broccoli arrangement and flower on the side. Light batter and good chicken-to-batter ratio, though the flower on the plate had a pretty high ratio too. High quality chicken and nicely tender. Fairly tame sauce treatment, with minimal spice. Above average. -- Hong Kong Shrimp: Huge shrimp, plenty of them, and nice presentation with the string beans fanned out beneath them. A little on the sweet side and not much flavor. Not bad, but probably wouldn't get this again. -- Beef Chow Fun: A hearty dish of thick rice noodles, with onions and well-cooked beef that had both crust and tenderness. The noodles themselves were very soft-- closer to mushy than chewy. Not a bad thing; it all depends on what you like. With a couple items elite (chicken wings and beef teriyaki) and most items solid, Kawaii is worth a visit. There's a superfan and self-appointed Chinese food expert out there whose promotional "reviews" suggest everything is perfect every time, which isn't the case, but Kawaii comes through more often than not, so it earns my recommendation. Much too good to be a 3 and too many flaws to be a 5, so a 4-star rating is exactly right for them.
