The shrimp in the Lo mein was HORRIBLE! Could not eat it. Tasted like how bleach/ floor cleaner would smell or would taste, as if shrimp was treated with some chemical or something on it. The hotel I was staying at told me this was recommended delivery for Chinese food so I ordered a sweet n sour lunch special with pork fried rice and boneless pork spareribs. I added an egg roll and apparently it came with a coke/soda. Lady on the phone was kind of curt but not exactly rude but she got my order totally right so I can't complain. The orange, sesame and Generals chicken are all dark meat and she didn't offer to make it with white meat so I opted for the sweet n sour chicken and wasn't disappointed. The sweet n sour chicken came with no vegetables. Just the fried battered chicken breast pieces. The chicken tasted fresh and there were no "weird-cartilage-y" bites in it at all. The batter was tender and bready on the inside and golden and crispy on the outside. Classic New England style chicken fingers/sweet n sour chicken. I've lived all over the USA and you just can't find this style elsewhere. The pork fried rice was actually flavorful and I was impressed. Back in Denver where I'm currently living, the fried rice doesn't have these little red pork bits in it and is basically pale flavorless soy sauce egg fried rice. Only entree style fried rice has flavor out there. Having delicious fried rice as a side dish was ahhh-mazing!! The egg roll was great. Crispy, not too oily, nice interior. A tad bland but tasty over all. The boneless pork spare ribs were pretty good. On the fatty side, but what spare ribs aren't? Sauce was sweet but not too overwhelming. Nice, classic spare ribs. Delivery was pretty quick. There was a $1 gas fee on my receipt but that was cheap for delivery "fee", just wasn't expecting it. Food arrived hot and that was what was important. Order came while I was putting food on plate and the container flipped over and ended up with it all over my stove. It had so much food in it. Not complaining about to much food. But would it kill you to put the lo mein in a separate container. The rangoons tasted disgusting. The (home made) duck sauce was so gross. The generals chic was hard to chew. I just picked up an order for mothers day and it was so disappointing. The crab Rangoon were tiny overcooked envelopes with very little filling. The Lo Mein and chicken fingers were just ok. I ordered the Five Delicious and it was just awful. The tiny piece of lobster was over cooked and chewy. What was supposed to crabmeat was soggy little pieces of imitation crab. my husband and i are in love with this place. our normal go-to was Hong Kong House or the Mandarin, but we've ordered from here the last couple of times and have been so pleased. everything so far has been exceptional. first of all, the dumplings are phenomenal. i mean, we've gotten dumplings from the Dumpling Daughter and these are better. nice thin wrapper, delicious filling, and the dipping sauce is super flavorful. the moo shi, chow fun, mixed veggies, and egg drop soup have also been awesome. there's a reason this place looks like it has been there forever from the outside- it's delicious, affordable Chinese food cooked correctly to order each time. i haven't been inside, but my husband reports that their COVID19 safety/social distancing measures are excellent. we highly recommend. read more

If I could give negative reviews, I absolutely would. We live locally in Milford. I've had a bad experience with Great Taste before but hasn't ordered from them in YEARS, so I figured I'd give it another shot. Boy oh boy, was I wrong to try them again. I ordered online. The order was confirmed via email at 6:42pm and was also documented on the receipt. I called them at 7:31pm wondering where the food was. They said the food was on its way. The food didn't get delivered until 7:57pm. I was disappointed because my order not even close to what was expected. It was a ton of vegetables and noodles with very little chicken. Basically chicken lo mein. I am getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and they're killing me, so I needed to eat soft foods. (I would usually love crispy veggies!) I called to tell them the order was wrong. The person who answered the phone offered to come pick up the untouched meal and bring me a new one. I needed to eat before 9pm due to the surgery, so that wouldn't have worked. I asked for a refund of the meal I ordered. Not even $11. Was told no. I, of course, questioned this. Then the person on the phone gave the phone to who is apparently the cook. The cook told me I was lying about the meal being wrong and LITERALLY began screaming at me. He told me he had been a cook for over 30 years and that none of the food he cooks is ever wrong. He told me I was lying about what time I ordered my food (which is in my email) and what time the food got delivered (we have a Ring security system, so I know exactly what time the delivery man came) and accused me of wanting "free food". I can assure you me and my family do NOT need free food. I just wanted to have a nice meal before getting my damn wisdom teeth pulled. He was swearing at me in Chinese, yelling at me so badly that my husband got on the phone and tried to diffuse him. NOPE! He kept yelling. I got back on the phone, told him I wanted my $6.00 tip back and to come get the food I didn't eat. He refused. Then hung up on me. I called right back. The person who answered the phone told me I "hurt the cooks feelings", so I wouldn't be getting any money back. He also asked me how I would feel if I'd been doing something for 30 years and got complaints. I told them I've gotten plenty of complaints from my FAMILY (and others) about the dinners I make, but I don't cry about it. I move on with my life and don't scream at them for them not enjoying it. Never in my 43 years of life have I EVER encountered such a terrible experience with customer service at a restaurant. EVER. The food didn't even taste bad, so there shouldn't have been any "feelings" involved. I just wanted my less than $11 back for my particular meal that wasn't correct. They spent over 20 mins on 2 phone calls with me yelling. Instead of just refunding $11. Needless to say, now I will be leaving this review wherever I am able. Don't eat here. Please. We're visiting from out of town. My child and I decided for a little walk over Main St. In Milford. My son decided he wanted Chinese food for lunch. We ordered to dine in. They have a little seating area with 5 tables. It's completely abandoned. As proof of that all tables' surface have some layers of dirt and dry grease. God knows when this was cleaned last but I bet it hasn't happened recently. Even the 14 inch tv screen is glossy of grease. Food taste it's ok and portions size it's ok as well. Even though our food was ordered to eat at the place the food came in in containers to go. So we are on disposables. As we awaited for our meal to be cocked the lady (guessing wife) started having a discussion way out loud with the husband. They screamed at each other for 10 mins. I think I heard the men's voice breaking. My kid and I were concerned as we heard loud noises so not sure if stuff was thrown at each other? When the lady came in to deliver the food I asked if everything was ok and she said yes, she said in Chinese there is a crazy loud talk. I didn't buy that. If you're ordering to go I guess this this is an ok option. If you want to seat down to enjoy your meal this is not a place for that. At the end my son needed to use the restroom. We were lead to the back of the restaurant past the shelfs of sodas and species through what it seems it was a buffet place before now filled with all kinds of food items for cooking. The switch light was all dirty but I managed to turn the light on. The urinal was covered with a trash bag and a handwritten note "out of order". The soap bottle was filled with water and a soapy residue, probably when the soap was low they refilled with water to make it last longer, but at the present time no soap was available. That's an issue for the restaurant. Customers must was their hands in a healthy way and so the cooks. The lack of soap will not clean the cooks hands and therefore that may add an unwanted layer of flavor to your food. read more

First time ordered and probably last. Placed an order for 7 appetizers, one of which was a large order of chicken wings. Bring the order home, did not get the wings but got crab Rangoon instead. I called them back to say they gave me the wrong food item, they told me that if I brought back the Rangoon, they could give me a small 6 piece chicken wing because it was the same price. I'd hate to think I had to bring back the Rangoon so they could resell it to someone else. Regardless, I had to drive all the way back to make the swap for less food than I ordered. So bear with me as this is the first review I have done on Yelp... I'm sorry it is wordy, but I feel as though I need to warn you. A group of us in the office decided we wanted Chinese for lunch. Mandarin hands down has the best Chinese in Milford, but it is way overpriced. So we decided since we have tried most of the others in town to give Great Taste a whirl. If I may preface this review by giving you a quick description to help get your imaginative brain waves going, I think it will help you understand. I work in an office that unfortunately is right next to the Men's bathroom that dozens of technicians use throughout the day. So as you can imagine, there is a certain odorific effervescence that wafts by my desk all day, everyday. Sorry to be so descriptive, but I had to set the stage... I went online and I must say, their online menu and ordering is quite nice! Very easy to read, understand and navigate. We all ordered lunch specials and an appetizer each. Although I put specific instructions where to go for the driver, he still managed to get himself in the wrong spot. Very nice gentleman though, so no complaints there. The food took about 50 minutes to get here which I think is fairly average. Now for the food ::fingers tapping on the desk thinking of what to say::. I think the general population would agree that for the most part, Chinese is Chinese. Some is better than others (i.e. Mandarin), so you would think at worst, it would be average right? Yeeeaaaahhhhhh...not so much with them. For starters, they got my beef and broccoli order wrong. I specifically asked for the broccoli to be overcooked a little so it was soft. Instead, I could have used that to throw thru the pane glass windows at the local 711 if I ever decided to go on a criminal spree. I asked for pork fried rice, but got white rice. Which that's not that big of a deal to me because I can eat that and enjoy it anyways. But the biggest thing about this order was the sniff. My food smelled like a fishing troller coming back from a 3 month stint in the Northern Atlantic. WOW... when I say it smelled of pickled Moby Dick poop, that would be an enormous understatement. My entire office gave me the death stare within one minute of me taking the cover off the food. I felt like the guy that reheated his week old swordfish steak in the office microwave and left the vulgar odor to stew for the next few days. To the trash with that!!! Next up is the crab rangoons. I'm pretty sure I broke a part of my L29 bicuspid when I bit into the unbelievably overcooked on the outside, yet still frozen on the inside pouch of grossness. Join the L17 in the circular file please! OK, lets try the fried ravioli.....nope, never mind. You shouldn't have to wear eye protection to keep the molten lava oil that comes shooting out at you when you try to cut it from permanently fusing your pupils to the inside of your eyelids. Dammit, I really wanted those. The last hope, my side of chicken fingers. They look good, that's a plus! However for some reason we have gone from the rotten smell of stingray carcass, to the stinging whiff of a space monkeys crudded up diaper. Holy hell, it was almost impressive. Needless to say, not one of us enjoyed any part of our meals. Price was fair as was delivery time. I cant speak for the inside of the restaurant obviously, so I won't. I am going to go out on a limb and say that we, or at least myself, will probably never try to experience their Not So Great Taste anytime soon. Not to mention that as I Googled them, there were SEVERAL articles on how they have been shutdown multiple times on health code violations. This restaurant (and I use the term VERY loosely) is nothing but a fraudulent business with mediocre food. I placed a rather large order that, when delievered, included a pupu platter the we did not order/want. When we called to have the order fixed and the platter ($18.00) refunded, they became very angry and accused us of lying to get a freebie. The options given to us were to keep and pay for the food we did not order, or have them come back to our house to collect it so they could throw it away.
