When stuck in traffic, search "sushi near me" on Yelp, & you too might also stumble across a gem like Hao Sushi. When I saw the impressive average star rating of Hao on Yelp, I took it as a sign to give up on the traffic & treat myself to some sushi instead. I arrived just after they opened (around 4:50pm) & I had the restaurant to myself. It was clean, bright, & joyfully decorated. I was immediately struck with how cheerful & kind the server was. I felt like I had sat down in her home - that's how hospitable & familiar she felt. I asked for a bowl of miso soup to start, & it appeared in front of me in less than 3 minutes. It was warm, balanced, & the perfect appetizer. I moved on to some toro nigiri & their "crispy rice" appetizer (which was topped with spicy tuna, tobiko, honey miso, eel sauce, & fried seaweed.) The toro was spectacular. It was tender, fresh, & topped with a balanced little chutney situation that tasted a bit like wasabi. I don't like wasabi. I always opt out, if I can. But this little chutney was delicious! The crispy rice appetizer was spectacular & comforting as well. I could've eaten 2-3 more servings. I concluded my meal with an order of avocado & cucumber maki. It was rolled tightly & well balanced. A perfect, fresh roll. I'm so glad I stopped here! Dining in was a great choice. Came here for dinner after spending time at Supercharged Entertainment. The restaurant is beautiful inside and gives an impression of quality between the napkins to the dinnerware. Service here is great as well. The menu is extensive with many creative rolls. The tuna tartar is a good sized appetizer for one person and is very delicious. I thought the French cake roll would have more flavor, could have been the extra tempura flakes. The crazy roll and spicy tuna were simple and flavorful. We've been about 4 times to Hao Sushi now and it's our favorite sushi spot around. The sushi is always fresh, the ambiance is super laid back, the service is pretty good and the food options are super tasty. We always go for the triple roll combo where you can get 3 types of sushi, but also it comes with a small salad and miso soup (both of which are great). We've celebrated multiple birthdays here and their staff is always wonderful to celebrate with you and even do a fun little minute celebration with you. Food: the sushi was okay. They have a big variety of American-style rolls. They rolls are really sauced up and they have a strange fascination with putting red onions on it. Nothing of note. They do the work. Ambiance: it definitely feels like an American-chinese type of restaurant with some extra water bubble features and RGB lighting. I hadn't eaten in this location in many - maybe 5 - years. And since the new owners have taken over the location, it has become a very lovely place to dine. First, they invested what must have been a ton of money to completely renovate the place. It is now bright new and cheerful. The person who waited on us was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. But the best part was the sushi. I had a 4-Seasons Roll, Seared White Tuna, Salmon, Eel, and Sea Bass. All of the fish was extremely fresh. And the miso soup was just the perfect balance of savory, soft tofu, and seaweed. I've eaten sushi all over the country, and this is about as good as any I've eaten anywhere. The place is small and it's located in Foxboro town center, right across CVS. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing, with a nice Asian theme . The waiter greeted us when we walked in and she was very pleasant. I had the chicken fried rice which was very good, and I'm a rice snob. I wanted to like this restaurant since it is a short drive and like Japanese food. The size and layout makes the cold weather a minus when seated in one section of restaurant. My shrimp Teriyaki had an excellent sauce, but the overcooked shrimp were hard. Two small pieces of broccoli and small pieces of carrot, should never been served. Small is not the proper word. One floret must be cut into about 5-7 dinners. The service was fine. The ambiance lacking. Despite all this, the customers were there. May have chosen the wrong meal and wrong chef on the schedule. With food the cost it is, Im not sure I will give it another try. I do not eradicate a restaurant due to lack of ambience. Food will. Only white rice available. Would need larger portion of vegetable. My shrimp could not be cut with fork so used the Chinese chopsticks to pick up, or stab, to eat whole. I've been to China and Japan. The best thing about this place was the edamame. The sushi was at best ok. The rice was stale. Any place with crunch on spicy tuna is a red flag. There is no relation to Japanese search for master-craft here, not sire they are Japanese. read more

I was hesitant to rate this restaurant because I do want to see it succeed but I think it's worth noting at this time the restaurant could use some improvements. Service: Unfortunately, the waitress seemed to be the only one on, was probably overworked and needed some support...it showed. She was always rushing off, sometimes before we had gotten assistance. The basics fell through the cracks like getting napkins and chopsticks to eat with. My date's chopsticks fell on the floor while we were eating and 5-10 mins after asking for new ones, he still was unable to eat. We had to take some from an empty table nearby. I'm all for being understanding for folks in the service industry but this did impact the eating experience. Food: For the suburbs, the sushi was decent but nothing special quality-wise. Got the fatty tuna nigiri and could barely tell it wasn't just regular tuna. Good range of options though. If this spot was in a city, it would not be anything too special. For the area this is hands down the best sushi you can find! The place is immaculate/clean, the service is fast and efficient and the food was fantastic. They have a lot of options for traditional and fusion sushi rolls and the presentation was top notch! I have not written a review in a while and felt compelled to write this ASAP it was so good! We have been coming to Hao for at least 8 months and almost every Friday night. The server Alice is an exceptional server!! When you walk into the restaurant you are always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile!! My wife is not a sushi fan at all. Alice always has an excellent suggestion for her for something to order. I recommend asking for the secret menu which you can see in one of my pictures an item called a crispy rice roll. The restaurant is always spotless and has a very calming atmosphere. Great little place in the center of town! Great staff that are friendly . They have a punch card that can get you a free meal! They have great sushi rolls and have yet to try one that was not good.
