    Dinner special
    Alex K.

Food here is very good. The lunch specials are not as high quality as the food made to order. I have not tried the hot pot but their Chinese food is good and sushi is too. Eating in is much better than their takeout. The menu is pretty large and the price is not too bad for the portions. The parking can be a little tricky too.

Hot pot with divider for two different broths

We went in after being at the park for a couple of hours. We were greeted immediately. We both decided to get the hot pot, which we never had before. My husband and I both ordered the seafood platter. I ordered the seafood, ginger and cilantro broth and he ordered the spicy. We both ordered the vermicelli (rice) noodles. They had a divider in the pot so we could each have our preference. The seafood and vegetables were so fresh and our waitress explained what everything was, how to fix dipping sauce to our taste etc. it was a huge portion of food. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, not much in the way of decor but the food is what counts.

Hot pot on a cool autumn day!

So now that the weather's cooler, we decided to try the hot pot menu at Shabu Lee. And it was good, satisfying and filling! We opted for 3 combos: the prime ribeye, fatty beef, and pork; and opted for the basic pork-based broth. For each combo, you get a plate of the desired meat, a vegetable basket (comprising napa cabbage leaves, watercress, spinach leaves, enoki mushroom, woods-ear mushroom, slices of taro and daikon, a section of corn cob), and choice of noodles (we took the rice vermicelli). I must say, for the 3 of us, this amount of veggies and noodles was too much (a good problem, though ...). Next time, I'd order 2 combos for the 3 of us and add an ala carte meat or seafood plate. The meats were good and as mentioned, the amounts were generous and filling. And the broth after all the shabu-shabu-ing, was delicious. We enjoyed the meal very much! Wait staff was very pleasant and helpful in explaining items; the built-in induction burner for the hot pot was easy to use, easy to adjust the temperature, and was safe - never had a concern for burning yourself (I imagine this would be great for kids' safety).

It was a cold day and was craving hot pot. The restaurant is small and it seems like takeout was popular during dinner. We only saw street parking which is plentiful. The owner was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the kimchi hot pot soup base with Japanese ramen noodles, beef, enoki mushrooms, bok choy and assorted tofu. The soup base was good and I didn't notice it being spicy. The beef was cut in large slices and most of the items were frozen as expected besides the bok choy. Really appreciated the induction hot plate and 10% discount when paying cash.

Hot pot. Prime rib, veggies and shrimp.

Food and service. This place really treats you like family and there is something to be said for that. The food is excellent. If you are looking for something new and haven't tried hot pot I highly recommend it. It is healthier as all of the food is cooked in broth table side. Their sushi is ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS fresh. We haven't gotten a single thing we did not like after 3 years of coming here from takeout to dining in. There are some abrasive clients and this area and I always see them handle all people with grace and kindness. This the spot to support.

The food was top quality and the atmosphere was on point. Genuinely one of the nicest experiences I have had with Hibachi in the state since moving here from Chicago. 10/10 would come again despite the 30 minute drive.

There was plenty of parking, and upon walking in the restaurant looked very clean. Since it was close to closing and I had called ahead, we were seated right away at a hibachi table with just the two of us. There was an extremely loud birthday party seated next to us, but that's not the restaurant's fault. While ordering, I wanted to get appetizers and sushi before our hibachi meal, but I felt a little rushed by our server. On a previous visit I remembered there being a Tuesday appetizer special (I thought it was half off), but when I asked, I was told they had never offered that promotion. Food: * Rock & Roll Roll - 8/10: Fresh and tasty, although the crab had a slightly stronger smell than I'd prefer. * Shrimp Tempura Roll - 9/10: Very good, but I asked for extra eel sauce and was given barely a tablespoon. * Steak & Shrimp Hibachi - 5/10: The flavor was excellent and everything was cooked exactly as requested, but the portions were surprisingly small for the price. * Chicken & Steak Hibachi - 5/10: Again, the flavor was great, but the portions were disappointing. We ordered extra chicken, which ended up being a good decision because the regular portion was very small. Each plate had less than a cup of rice, and although I requested extra mushrooms instead of zucchini and carrots, that substitution wasn't made. * Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - 10/10: Easily one of the best items we ordered. Perfectly crispy with great seasoning and just the right amount of spice. * Scallion Pancakes - 9/10: Crispy and flavorful, but they could have used more scallions and a larger portion of dipping sauce. Drinks: I ordered a lemon drop martini made with tequila, but it tasted like it was made with vodka. I asked if it could be replaced, but that request was declined. They brought me pineapple juice to try to make it more drinkable, but it didn't help, and the drink still remained on the bill. That was definitely a 0/10 experience. Our hibachi chef was fantastic. He was engaging, acknowledged my fiancé's birthday, and honestly made up for the lackluster service we received from our waiter. One thing diners should be aware of is that an 18% service charge is automatically added to the bill, but it isn't verbally mentioned. It's listed as a "service charge" on the receipt, so it's easy to overlook if you're not paying attention. I asked about it to confirm, then tipped our hibachi chef separately because he deserved it. The receipt also includes wording encouraging additional gratuity, which could easily lead guests to tip twice if they don't notice the automatic charge. Overall, the food quality and flavors were still good, and the hibachi chef made the experience enjoyable. However, the rushed service, disappointing portion sizes, drink issue, and lack of transparency about the automatic service charge kept this visit from living up to our previous experiences.

Did a lunch visit with a friend, going our own way with lunch combos and adding a couple of full-order appetizers. -- Spareribs on the Bone: St Louis cut ribs with ruby red glaze, just a bit of char, and a clear honey glaze to sweeten things further. Not the meatiest, not the juiciest, and not the most tender, but they got the job done, thanks to the very pleasing flavor. These have the potential to be stellar at night. As sampled, above average to well above average, even with the flaws. -- Egg Rolls: Extra crunchy exterior and a soft, stringy assortment of both cabbage and celery for greenery, accented with pork. Above average. -- Chicken Wing (the included appetizer on a combo): Not dark of skin, but still crispy. A bit dry. Kinda plain, with discernible but light marinade. Average to slightly below average. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Not many mushrooms or other fillers. Mostly thick, weirdly gloppy broth and some scallions. Spice present, flavors good, textures not so good. Balances out to average. -- Szechuan Style Chicken with Peanuts: Other than having the two ingredients listed in the name, it didn't seem like similarly named dishes or kung pao. Pea pods standing in for celery. Chicken was high quality and the flavors were appealing, with spice coming through and a hoisin-equestrian undercurrent adding depth. A little above average even if different. -- General Gao's Chicken: My friend's lunch combo. He said it was heavy on the breading and had one-note sweetness. A mixed bag, but a worthy visit if you need something in the area. Lunch specials at $11.95 have a more than fair amount of food, so a good value. But it's those spareribs that'll bring me back. Attentive service. Parking in back of the building.

My sister and I have gone twice since they opened a few weeks ago. I am the kind of person that likes to eat raw fish over cooked fish and do not like sugar in my tea. Although, I wish it were a little bit more chilled when served. The sushi rice is a bit over cooked but still okay. Drinks are great! Haven't had a bad drink yet! My go to is the Iced Matcha and the A-Oolong tea w/ cheese foam. The strawberry matcha latte and drip coffee are also yummy! Service: staff is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Friendly, attentive, and everything came out in a timely way. But when it came to the food, it was just ok for me. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The rice had decent flavor, but nothing really stood out. It tasted more like a safe choice than something I would go back for. The shrimp with lobster sauce had a nice portion size, but the sauce felt a little flat. It was missing that rich, layered flavor I was expecting. We also got the Bo Bo Platter to share, which is their appetizer sampler. It came with beef teriyaki, chicken wings, spring rolls, shrimp, and crab rangoons. A little bit of everything. Again, it was just ok. The flavors didn't pop the way I wanted them to. My husband had the Crispy Pad Thai which came with jumbo shrimp, chicken , and egg, stir fried with rice noodles.
