I can't speak highly enough about this local Chinese restaurant. I've been living in the area for two years now and I get take out at least once a month. The food is always super fresh and orders are always made very quickly. I love their Peking ravioli, lo mein dishes, and fried rice. Not bad, not bad. I've been on the hunt for a good Chinese food spot in the area and it has been a challenge as I am very picky with my Chinese food. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and lobster sauce, an egg roll, and scallion pancakes. I'll give the shrimp and lobster sauce a 7.5/10 only because it could've had a little more flavor. They give you the nice plastic containers and not that styrofoam garbage. The egg roll was a little tough and stale and actually had my throat in discomfort after I ate it so I'll give that a 4/10. The scallion pancakes weren't the best but with the sauce was an 8/10. The delivery service was fast and the delivery man properly greeted me which a lot of places I find don't do so that is ultimately why I gave them a 4/5. The only thing I didn't like is when I initially called I was sensing a bit of a dry attitude because I was taking a little bit to decide what I wanted and was asking her questions about certain entrees. The woman taking my order abruptly dismissed me saying "I should call back when I figure out what I want." I understand you may be busy but the rudeness was uncalled for. read more

This place used to be good decades ago after they first opened up. The lemon chicken from then to now is like night and day. Now the chicken tastes like it was overcooked yesterday, refrigerated and nuked to death before purchase. Not saying that's what they do but that's what it tastes like. I called the store they said I had to bring it back with no refund just exchange. But I had a party and couldn't leave my guests. After the fall of Mandarin Cuisine in Walpole, I was forced to seek out a new haunt for Chinese. A year or 2 passed and I went away to my first year of college in Rhode Island. I came back home to do the usual laundry and get some home cooked meals but I was missing something. Providence offered nothing special in the way of good Chinese and I felt there was a gap that needed to be filled. Then one trip home, my parents had mentioned there were some leftovers in the fridge from this new restaurant that had opened a few weeks ago. So, expecting disappointment, I rummaged through the fridge and pulled out some hefty plastic containers. Immediately, I knew there was something special in my hands as no Chinese restaurant had taken such precautions in packaging their leftovers. I mean, these weren't the usual paper take-out boxes that fall apart after absorbing too much garlic sauce. So my mom had recently decided to call it quits on deep fried foods...I know, I know, she's nuts. But she's my mom so lay off. Anyways, I crack open a container of Chicken and Garlic Sauce and add a serving of pineapple fried rice and nuke it for a minute. *DING!* 'Ok',' I think to myself, 'At least this is a free meal" I go for the rice first, the pineapple had started to sweat a little into the rice and was mixing with the garlic sauce. POW! It was magic! I fell in love with the sweet and garlic flavors all melding together, the fresh taste of the fried rice, the very subtle but very pleasant spiciness of the sauce. The chicken was still tender and the medley of mushrooms, bamboo shoots, celery and water chestnuts added a nice combo of crisp, crunch and meatiness. In a frenzy, i devoured the plate and poked back into the fridge to see what else was in there. To my surprise, there were chicken fingers (thanks to my old man and his undying love of fried foodstuffs), one of the major tests of a restaurant. They were still tender, even after being in the fridge for a few hours, and were just right. The batter was crisp and not too thick. It wasn't trying to hide the chicken inside, it added substance to it. So I've been back in numerous times since for both takeout and dine-in, trying everything from the General Gau's to the Crispy Beef, from the Double Cooked Pork to the Hot and Sour Soup and Salt & Pepper Shrimp; and I can say that nothing has yet to disappoint me. The appetizers are fantastic, freshly fried and done just enough where they're not sopping in oil. The fried rice is fried when you order it; you can taste it hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp all afternoon. The veggies are fresh and crisp and never taste like they've been frozen, and between you and me, the scallion pancakes may wind up on my list of my last meal. Service inside or for pick up is always fast and courteous and there always seems to be seating available. They also have another location in Downtown Walpole, which also serves sushi, which I will try soon! The Wrap-up: The BEST moderately-priced suburban Chinese restaurant south of Boston. The menu is nothing groundbreaking but the dishes are done perfectly. If you are in the area at all, or even kind of close, you need to check this place out. **UPDATE** The Walpole location is undergoing some renovations and the word on the street is that they bought out the UPS store next to it and are expanding it into a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. read more

The lo mein and crab Rangoon's we're good but I emphasized very much and multiple times that I do not want any meat in the pineapple fried rice. Me and my friends do not eat meat and we started eating it and I had to spit it out because there was chicken inside. Also I found a piece of hair inside the rice after the fact. I've been here so many times I can't even count, but the other day put me over the top. I generally have a pretty good experience here, it's gone down a bit since my first ever review. I remember ordering here when I had just given birth and them delivering in knee-deep snowbanks. The other day when calling for delivery I was told 35-45 minutes. Perfect, sounds good. I gave her my address, then she says, oh no, more like an hour. That's fine, whatever (I am in their delivery area, obviously). Once she looked up my address, she then says the driver didn't want to drive to my house! WHAT??? This is how you treat a repeat customer that is fully within your delivery range? Pathetic. EASILY the best Chinese food in the area, and possibly better than even some of the better places in Boston. Blue Orchid is one of my favorite places to eat. Ever since I first tried Blue Orchid several years ago, I just can't order Chinese food from any other restaurant. The lo mein is outstanding and doesn't come in that gross soy-based brown sauce that a lot of places seem to be peddling. It's garlicky, light, and fresh - and even better as leftovers the next day. The crab rangoons are another must-try, as are the peking ravioli, garlic chicken, and mongolian beef. One of the things that sets Blue Orchid apart is the obvious freshness and quality of the ingredients. The veggies are cooked, but retain a little crispiness and are not overdone. The meat is also great, especially the chicken, which is all-white meat and very juicy. The sauces are light but flavorful and not greasy at all. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and if you opt for delivery or takeout, it's pretty quick. I really just can't say enough good things about Blue Orchid. It has been a staple of my dining out experience for years and will definitely stay that way. read more

I had been half terrorized at Fortune Palace in Essex the day before, and still hungry for the Chinese food that was denied me we ventured here. We walked in (albeit at an early 6:00 p.m.) and we were the ONLY people there...scary part #2...Robert came over with menus, suggestions and humor to put us at ease. On the menu I ordered Sesame Shrimp extra spicy, and I could not tell you what my boyfriend ordered, but it was on suggestion of Robert and he said it was delicious. Robert also steered us toward the salt and pepper shrimp as an appetizer even though it is an entree - it was absolutely nothing short of AMAZING! PLUS - I asked for spicy - and they actually gave me spicy! The service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and I can't wait to go back. They were doing a thriving take out business while we were there and also seem to deliver. Also, they have a sister location (where Robert is more often) in Walpole. I have been frequenting this spot for about 5 years now and every single time the food is fantastic. Consistency is the major factor I look for when eating out and Blue Orchid passes with flying colors. The crab rangoons are the best I have ever tasted. I cannot even compare them to any other restaurants because they are in a class all by themselves. Stuffed with cream cheese, and a hint of scallion they are beyond addicting. The other items are just as good, with the vegetable dishes being extremely fresh and colorful, and the chicken wings loaded with tons of meat and a crispy lightly battered crust. Stopped in for an early dinner on Friday night while I was in the area. Crab Rangoons were very good, and I got like 10 of them in the order. Crispy Beef in chef's special sauce was somewhat disappointing. It was your standard lotus floured thin pieces of beef, but it came out smelling burned. Not being one to complain, I ate it anyway. And it wasn't bad. A decidedly average Chinese food experience. They charge extra for steamed rice at dinner, which is a pet peeve of mine. The lunch specials looked good, and $8 looks better. It's the closest Chinese place to us so we order from here all the time. It usually satisfies our craving with certain standard items. Some things tend to be a little off though. We recently got the Mongolian beef...and the flavor was not right. It wasn't bad, beef + onions but it wasn't Mongolian beef. We got a bunch of things so we could share. But, for my money, it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I tried their special (a cranberry chicken dish). Brought incorrect food. Driver never called or knocked even though they said he did. I stated I did NOT want contactless delivery for that reason. Food was left outside for 30 minutes. When we got food it was incorrect item, albeit it was close but not what we ordered. I called to question the order. The lady on the phone got upset and said I had to pay for it because they "delivered it" even though it was the wrong type of food. We got into an argument, she hung up the phone and vulgarities were exchanged and she told me she didn't need my business. When threatened with a bad review the manager called back and stated that her driver would come back an issue a refund for incorrect item as it was unprofessional behavior by her staff member. It's been 2 hours since the manager called. The driver never came back, no refund has been made. The food was mediocre which we barely ate. Definitely wouldn't order again. Poor attitude, mediocre food, false promises. I'll gladly spend my money at the other Asian restaurants in the area. Try Golden Abacus in Norwood-great friendly customer service with an awesome menu in a true Ma and Pa joint. Unfortunately if they actually listened and refunded for the incorrect order and apologized, they would have gotten a much better review along the lines of 4 stars. However this is the truth. You could order and I'm sure it would satisfy your Cantonese craving but I guess this is what I get for trying to keep this Ma and Pa going during the pandemic-- rude, arrogant, incorrect and mediocre. Ordering was easy and pain free unlike some places it's like pulling teeth. Delivery was faster then estamated but delivery driver was rude and wanted more of a tip.(delivery fee is high so less tip) The portions I would say are medium to small. Chicken fingers were NOT over breaded like other Chinese places. Chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki are the second best I've ever had. Chicken wings are very crispy and a good flavor but 2 out of 4 were tiny. Lomain had no filling 3 chicken strips and 4 celery strips. The crab Rangoons are really good. Spare ribs are very fatty but the edible ones were good. There prices are high even for the Westwood Norwood area. All in all I will not be ordering from her again. And really wouldn't recommend it unless you want OK Chinese food fast. read more

We got take out from them the other night and it was only average. The crab rangoon was stuffed full, but not very crispy. The peking ravioli were ok, but too much dough and not enough meat. My husband had the Mongolian Beef and I had the Tangerine Chicken, and both were just ok. The prices are however quite reasonable. This is unfortunately the best Chinese food closer that Wellesley, so we may go back if we really want Chinese, but I expected it to be better than it was from reading other reviews. read more
