I had high hopes walking into Bamboo Dedham. The restaurant was beautiful chic, modern, and super clean. The service was great too. Friendly, attentive, and everything came out in a timely way. But when it came to the food, it was just ok for me. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The rice had decent flavor, but nothing really stood out. It tasted more like a safe choice than something I would go back for. The shrimp with lobster sauce had a nice portion size, but the sauce felt a little flat. It was missing that rich, layered flavor I was expecting. We also got the Bo Bo Platter to share, which is their appetizer sampler. It came with beef teriyaki, chicken wings, spring rolls, shrimp, and crab rangoons. A little bit of everything. Again, it was just ok. The flavors didn't pop the way I wanted them to. My husband had the Crispy Pad Thai which came with jumbo shrimp, chicken , and egg, stir fried with rice noodles. It had a nice presentation. The standout of the night for me was definitely the Fried Shrimp from the Bo Bo Platter. It was done perfectly. Light, crisp, not weighed down by thick batter. I honestly would have been happy just getting a plate of those. Overall, Bamboo is a beautiful space with solid service, but food wise, it didn't hit for me the way I hoped it would. While visiting relatives in Dedham, Mass., we went to Bamboo for dinner. Our drinks were delicious. I really enjoyed the Asian Pear Martini. For appetizers we had vegetable spring rolls, summer rolls, wonton soup and hot and sour soup. Portions were large--especially for the summer rolls--and very good. For our entrees, we had the Polynesian chicken, sautéed chicken and vegetables (which was like Moo Goo Gai Pan), Garlic Chicken, and the Family meal of steak, chicken, and shrimp in a brown sauce. All were good and had leftovers to take home. We had to ask for white rice, which struck us as odd. Service was friendly and efficient. The dining room is large and comfortable. I find myself back again. Not specifically for the food, more that this is the best hotel near where I'm working. I should have read my review from 9months ago and not ordered the gyoza or at least asked for a different dipping sauce. Soy and sesame with chili oil would have been better. Also they were a bit cool. When I bit into the first one I looked for the server, but she was not around so I muddled through. I ordered the hunan boneless duck and asked for it spicy. It also came out cool to the touch and not spicy at all. In fact it had almost no flavor. I did send that back and asked for it to be spiced up. It came back and tasted the same. I asked for some chili flake and added it at the table. Last time I had the sushi and it has okay. Perhaps I should stick with that next time. read more

Absolutely terrible service. We ordered take out which cost over $130. I took our order out to the car to make sure we got everything we paid for, which has been an issue in the past. Everything we ordered was in the bag - BUT - I noticed that they did not include any hot mustard. I went back in to ask for some and the older woman working there was very rude and handed me a small container that was about 1/4 full. What can a family do with that? I asked if we could have more and she ignored me. I asked the young woman working at the bar for some and she and the other woman began speaking Chinese and then I was handed another small 1/4 full container. The food is pretty bland here, as other reviews mention - so the mustard gives it some flavor. The food we got was flavorless and we ended up throwing most of it out. What a waste of money. Should have just hit the drive thru at Burger King and saved myself money and aggravation... Lesson learned - we will never order from this place again and will make the trip to Brookline for much better food and excellent overall experience in the future! read more

The last time I came to Bamboo it was when they had a buffet. The buffet is gone. I didn't expect that but it's okay! The moment the food came out everything was so fresh, clean looking and tasting and delicious. I came with my parents for Mother's Day and we had such a pleasant time. The service was great and they were kind. We got the Happy Family, shrimp lo mein, house fried rice, sauteed bok choy, bo bo platter (pu pu platter) for 2. I would say that the portions of the fried rice and the lo mein are smaller so you might need to order more if you have a group that eats modest to larger portions or a group of more than 3 people. The food was great and I would go back 100%. It is pricey if you're with a group as most dishes are around $20 each. read more

Rushed due to closing hours,however, we still had time and felt they just wanted to clean and get out.. Environment clean. Food I felt was old rice and over cooked sauce for the chicken. Ordered through Ubereats as we've done over 25 times and the wrong order was delivered. Assume Bamboo gave the driver the order. We sent it back with the driver and called the restaurant to rectify. After waiting 2 hours they said we had to "reorder" on Ubereats. My suggestion for them to send a cab for the order that was sitting there was declined. I can't comment on the buffet as I'm not a buffet person (trust issues) so I've never tried the buffet here. What I have had plenty of is food from their dinner menu which never disappoints. Food quality and proportions are consistently good. My usual order is crab Rangoon (~$9), vegetable fried rice (~10), chicken teriyaki skewers (~10), and shrimp lobster sauce (~$18). When I eat here I never come alone. The plate sizes are large enough to eat family style with whoever you're with. I discovered Bamboo when having to stay at the Holiday Inn next door for a work event. We have been dining at Bamboo Dedham for many years and usually eat at the Bar. I must say the Food is well prepared and the Ambiance is also good. The service however since COVID is horrendous and the BarTender (I believe his name is Ray and he seems to work many nights) acts like he is doing you a favor by waiting on you. This is not a feeling by just me as I know a lot of people who have stopped going here because of his poor service and poor attitude. But some things were too salty, saltier than usual. Staff is great and generally patient, but some are brisk/efficient. Which might come off to some people the wrong way. **NOTE** This review is for the lunch buffet only! This place is tucked in out of sight next to a Holiday Inn. Normally when it comes to locations like this expectations are usually pretty low but I was quite surprised at the offerings available! Now I'm not going to lie and say that this is the best buffet I've ever been to EVERRR but it was surprising at the quality of the choices that were available. We arrived at 11:30am (right when the place opens) and were seated promptly. The buffet opened soon after and I was able to make my way around the various offerings. The best part I would say would be the sushi offerings which had a fairly large assortment of Maki rolls available (with the usual offerings of wasabi and soy sauce along with ginger). The sushi was quite tasty and while not the best sushi ever (let's be honest, it's a buffet), I had no complaints. The rest of the buffet had your usual fair if americanized Chinese food with some more authentic choices available (if you've been to a Chinese buffet, you won't be surprised here). Staff was pleasant and were quick to remove used dishes and refill our drinks! The total was less than $30 for two people so not bad for a buffet with the offerings available. The most interesting of all the locations. A lot of Local regulars at the bar, randomly. A bunch of thick Boston accents drinking bud light and eating sushi and dumplings.
