    Spicy tonkostsu

Place has gotten busier than when it first opened and appeared to be slightly under staff. Take out orders were fulfilling much faster than the few tables in the restaurant so we waited a while for the food. I assume they have higher priority so don't get hit with fees from Uber. 1. Sushi was delicious and comes with miso soup. 2. Spicy tonkostsu ramen was pretty good but not that spicy 3.Chicken teriyaki is a bit on the pricey side but at least it's a pretty big portion Waitress took our order and did not write anything down so ended up forgetting my drink. No biggy but could have been easily avoided. They also gave our check to the table next to us. So service was just a bit slow and chaotic. Did not refill water or clear the plates when we were done. Restaurant is on the darker side with some peaceful music in the background.

We stopped in for an early dinner at 5 pm. The restaurant was empty but then started to fill up as we were eating. We ordered several maki rolls: spicy salmon, Boston, and eel avocado. Salmon was fresh. The rice wasn't rolled great and fell apart a bit. The wasabi didn't have that kick I was expecting even after using a good amount of it. We also tried the spicy miso ramen and the chicken katsu ramen. Soups came with several toppings: bamboo shoots, beansprouts, half soft boiled egg, and corn. The broth was on the saltier side - didn't give me the umami flavor I was looking for. Overall, food was fine, I would say average. Works if you are craving sushi/ramen in the area. Service was prompt and friendly.

Had the yakiudon and it was okay. I do wish it had a bit more flavor to it however. I asked for a side of chilli oil and man was that yummy and spicy! It added the perfect kick to the meal! The service was good. The atmosphere was quiet but I think maybe to be expected on a Sunday night.

Would've gone 3.5 stars if available. Found the food to just be average to me. Customer service and cleanliness was 5 stars however. Not sure if I'd return with better options in the area.

Love Uchi. My favorite sushi place on the south shore. My daughter and I come every weekend for lunch and the service is great they always are kind enough to adjust her bento box.

A real nice family-owned sushi restaurant in Dedham center I think, a great space with beautiful artwork on the walls. The presentation, classy atmosphere, and service was all great. It was calm and pleasant in there when we went for lunch. The menu was impressive with numerous special makis that I wanted to try. We ordered the lobster maki and a shrimp one if I recall correctly, with gyoza of course. Everything tasted so fresh and high quality. The portions were very good too. Eat here if you're a sushi eater in the area, this place deserves your support!

    Shrimp Hibachi Fried Rice

This is my fifth or sixth time dining at Uchi. Each time I have dined in or ordered to-go, the service has always been quick. Today my sisters and I ordered the soft shell crab and crab Rangoon for appetizers which were delicious. Both were lightly fried. The soft shell crab was accompanied by a bed of lettuce. My sister ordered the hibachi shrimp fried rice that we both could not stop eating because it was that good. It had medium sized shrimp and a vegetable medley and was lightly season, not too salty or soaked in soy sauce like at other places. Our maki rolls were also very fresh and beautifully plated! I requested gluten free soy sauce to eat with my rolls in addition to eel sauce. The Lobster maki is always delicious and the chefs do not skimp on the shellfish. The other rolls were well cooked and rolled as well! The only pitfall for us were the drinks, we had the mango seltzer, Ramune, and lychee seltzer and each of the drinks were just alright. But all in all, I'll definitely be back and would recommend! Try it out!

The food was amazing, the interior is nice and clean . Came in for ramen and did not disappoint. Great food and atmosphere. Perfect. Will come back again. The servers and owner were also very kind.

Mango ice cream mochi - delicious!

Next, when I was ordering, I asked the guy if I could get a side of the pork, but I wasn't getting ramen. No problem he said. For future reference, that side of pork needs to be in the ramen because it doesn't stand on its own. It was so dry, and tasted off. I also found the guy up front to be rude. My name is Jonathan. Not Johnny. I politely asked him to call me Jonathan and not Johnny. Didn't matter. He persisted. Overall, we won't go back. The poke nachos were easily the star of the table...honestly to die for. All three sushi rolls were packed with flavor and didn't last long once they hit the table. One had some thick fishy slices but aside from that, wasn't bad. The edamame came out warm and perfectly salted (simple, but done right). The atmosphere was really nice and relaxed, and the service was professional and quick, which is always appreciated when everyone shows up hungry. Definitely a spot we'd come back to when the sushi craving hits again.

The food was top quality and the atmosphere was on point. Genuinely one of the nicest experiences I have had with Hibachi in the state since moving here from Chicago. 10/10 would come again despite the 30 minute drive.

There was plenty of parking, and upon walking in the restaurant looked very clean. Since it was close to closing and I had called ahead, we were seated right away at a hibachi table with just the two of us. There was an extremely loud birthday party seated next to us, but that's not the restaurant's fault. While ordering, I wanted to get appetizers and sushi before our hibachi meal, but I felt a little rushed by our server. On a previous visit I remembered there being a Tuesday appetizer special (I thought it was half off), but when I asked, I was told they had never offered that promotion. Food: * Rock & Roll Roll - 8/10: Fresh and tasty, although the crab had a slightly stronger smell than I'd prefer. * Shrimp Tempura Roll - 9/10: Very good, but I asked for extra eel sauce and was given barely a tablespoon. * Steak & Shrimp Hibachi - 5/10: The flavor was excellent and everything was cooked exactly as requested, but the portions were surprisingly small for the price. * Chicken & Steak Hibachi - 5/10: Again, the flavor was great, but the portions were disappointing. We ordered extra chicken, which ended up being a good decision because the regular portion was very small. Each plate had less than a cup of rice, and although I requested extra mushrooms instead of zucchini and carrots, that substitution wasn't made. * Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - 10/10: Easily one of the best items we ordered. Perfectly crispy with great seasoning and just the right amount of spice. * Scallion Pancakes - 9/10: Crispy and flavorful, but they could have used more scallions and a larger portion of dipping sauce. Drinks: I ordered a lemon drop martini made with tequila, but it tasted like it was made with vodka. I asked if it could be replaced, but that request was declined. They brought me pineapple juice to try to make it more drinkable, but it didn't help, and the drink still remained on the bill. That was definitely a 0/10 experience. Our hibachi chef was fantastic. He was engaging, acknowledged my fiancé's birthday, and honestly made up for the lackluster service we received from our waiter. One thing diners should be aware of is that an 18% service charge is automatically added to the bill, but it isn't verbally mentioned. It's listed as a "service charge" on the receipt, so it's easy to overlook if you're not paying attention. I asked about it to confirm, then tipped our hibachi chef separately because he deserved it. The receipt also includes wording encouraging additional gratuity, which could easily lead guests to tip twice if they don't notice the automatic charge. Overall, the food quality and flavors were still good, and the hibachi chef made the experience enjoyable. However, the rushed service, disappointing portion sizes, drink issue, and lack of transparency about the automatic service charge kept this visit from living up to our previous experiences.

We walked into a space with a cute, unique quality to it, and the menu covers a wide range of Thai dishes including ramen, curries, noodles, and rice dishes, which gives a table with different preferences plenty of directions to go. The pad see ew and basil fried rice are both solid orders that cover familiar ground competently. The noodles on the pad see ew had decent wok character and the basil fried rice was well seasoned and aromatic, though neither dish pushed beyond what you would expect from a good neighborhood Thai spot. The mango sticky rice is a satisfying finish and the sticky rice texture was on point, though the mango itself can vary depending on the season. The Thai tea is well made and a natural complement to the spicier dishes on the table. Across everything we ordered, the food was consistently good without being particularly memorable, landing in that comfortable range where you leave satisfied but not necessarily thinking about it the next day. For a weeknight dinner close to home it works well and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price. The menu is large enough that there is probably a higher ceiling to explore on return visits with some of the more distinctive options like the khao soi, tamarind wings, or crispy duck. Service and pickup accuracy have been inconsistent based on different visits, so dining in tends to produce a smoother experience than ordering out. As a neighborhood Thai option in Needham, it fills the gap well enough.
