I was really craving some simple salmon over rice and decided to order delivery from here. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The rice was over seasoned but the texture was great. Followed this up with dessert, strawberry mochi ice cream. You get two pieces in an order. Chewy, sweet, a perfect end to the meal. Keep in mind that prices on delivery apps (we used DoorDash) are almost 1.5x the price in the restaurant. Of course, their delivery fees are also quite high irrespective of distance so it evens out. Misono is one of my favorite local spots for good comfort Asian food. They have a mix of Korean, Japanese and Thai options. Service is always great and attentive and the place is always a quaint place to sit and eat. I always enjoy their tofu pad Thai, salmon or tuna bibimbap bowl, and duk mandu guk (soup in photo). Recently some friends took me to dinner at Misono for my birthday, and I was impressed. So I decided to try ordering dinner through their delivery service. I was charged #60.95 for the food, delivery, and a tip for the driver, but the food never arrived. I got a phone call from the driver, saying that he couldn't find my number. Since I just moved in a few weeks ago, I thought he couldn't find me in the building entry system. So I said I was coming down, and I went down to the lobby, but he wasn't there. He called me again and said he couldn't find my rather large apartment building. I kept telling him it was at 201 Sherman Road, but he finally said he was at 200 and was leaving the food there. He texted me a picture of the food left in front of a door numbered 200, and I got a text from Grubhub saying that my order was delivered. But it wasn't delivered. Not to me anyway. Then I got an email from Misono asking for a review of my experience. I replied with a thumbs down and described my experience. I thought I'd hear from them by now, but that was Saturday night, and it's now Tuesday, and I've heard nothing. Since I see no way to rate grubhub or Toast, their "delivery partner," and the Toast website provides no way to follow up, I'm posting this review of Misono. SUSHI SUPREME I've been coming to Misono for over 10 years and I can say the service is always consistently been amazing. I have gone to other Japanese and Asian restaurants where they serve sushi and none of them compete in my book. I have never done take out with them because I never really believed in ordering Sushi or food takeout because it's not the same experience. But I was blown away, it was virtually the same experience taste-wise. The food is always delicious and has never changed. They use quality ingredients and this place is definitely affordable. You can choose to have a luxurious sushi roll or stick with something casual for a more affordable price. But either way you will not be disappointed. We come to Misono a few times a month because it's close by, but last night, I got some severe FOOD POISONING and that was the last straw. Officially never coming back again. Ordered the firecracker roll and the fish on top did look fairly gray and suspicious, but I have had sushi here so many times that I didn't think much about it. I ate 2-3 pieces before realizing it tasted strange too and started picking it off. Woke up suddenly in the middle of the night 10 hours after the meal in a cold sweat with every food poisoning symptom under the sun. My husband's food poisoning kicked in about 12 hours later. Neither of us could even get out of bed today. It absolutely destroyed us. What kind of experienced sushi chefs would serve that kind of fish?! And honestly, the service here is some of the slowest I've ever seen. Most of the waitresses are nice, but there's a big stone wall in the back that they all hide behind and ignore their tables. Besides pouring water, it takes at least 15-20 min before they come check on you to order. And the way they deliver food to the tables is so inefficient. Most of the time, the sushi orders are just sitting on top of the sushi bar being ignored for way too long. (That probably doesn't help with keeping them fresh...) All of this really just stems back to poor management. The lady and guy who seem like the managers/owners also play hostess, so they're busy dealing with take out orders and seating people. One of the waitresses should really do that job, so the managers can actually manage what's happening on the floor and make sure the employees aren't just hanging out in the back. read more

Greeted nicely at the front, but things quickly took a downturn. Upon being seated at the sushi bar, I began to give my order to the "sushi chefs", but they only responded with a confused look. My party was then informed by the gentle-spoken waitress that all sushi orders are done on paper. This struck me as awkward, especially since the whole point of sushi bar seating is to interact with the people who slice your fish. There should be no reason why customers sat at the bar shouldn't be able to order directly. It is understandable for customers sat at tables away from the bar to order by paper. Another thing that struck me was the amount of online orders and dishes on top of the sushi bar. Online orders were piled 3 high all along the bar. Dishes of sushi and sashimi sat for 5-15 minutes undisturbed atop the bar. If I were at a table and saw my food just sat there unattended to, that would drive me mad! No reason for these not to be delivered to tables in a timely manner. The back was hectic. Communication was done primarily in Mandarin. Staff occasionally talked among themselves in Cantonese. Online orders, as I overheard, took up to an hour to get out. For 5+ chefs at the sushi bar, the pace that they made the sushi was unacceptably slow. My boyfriend ordered beef+shrimp teriyaki. The beef was very much overdone, tough and chewy. The sauce itself was singular in flavor, not much else but sweet. Insanely overpriced for what you get. The cut of beef was poor. This came with miso soup. I also got a miso soup on the house for having to wait so long for simple nigiri. Nothing fancy. Mainly seaweed/dashi flavor with not enough miso. The miso separated from the broth. Overall, mediocre. My nigiri finally arrived after around a 30 minute wait. Unacceptable! I ordered saba and hamachi. Saba was bland. Hamachi was bland. The cuts were subpar in quality but at least of decent size. Not worth it at all. Terrible! Would never return! read more

The food is amazing, but the service is extremely upsetting. I have been going here for YEARS and order takeout weekly. I get off of work at 8, so I order then. Their website states they close at 9pm as they have been for years. Lately, the hostess is making up closing times every week when I order. She will say "Oh we close at 8:30 today" and the next week it will be 8:40 or even 8:20, all in an attempt to not wait on customers to pick their food up close to closing time. If the restaurant wants to close earlier, they can update they hours on their website. I just placed and order at 8pm and I got a CALL from the restaurant at 8:30 saying that I'm late to come pick it up and that they are closing in a few minutes.... When I know full well they close at 9. It's extremely unprofessional, rude, and off putting to customers who order every single week. read more

The spicy tuna maki came discolored and fell apart when I picked it up as it was sloppily made. The tuna was a dark brown color instead of a reddish color and seemed like it was left out for days... It was most likely not fresh. I had previously read a review about somebody getting food poisoning from also having this restaurants tuna sashimi. The good thing though, is that while you sit on your fancy minimalist bamboo chair, you can smell all the wonderful sesame oil and tempura flakes smell waft out the kitchen. By the way, they certainly don't cheap out on their sashimi. Cool temperature, THICK slices (thickest I've seen anywhere)..and VERY fresh! Once I sat at the Sushi bar and had the most amazing spicy tuna roll I ever had. I ordered a Bento box another time and the miso soup , salad and teriyaki rice bowl thing was awesome! This place has been a regular spot for me for almost 20 years. Consistently really good food. The okdol bibimbab is my favorite but have had lots of sushi, noodles, katsu, bulgogi, miso, etc., over the years and has never missed on quality. They are not super friendly here but not at all unfriendly. They are always busy but manage it well. Oddly, I have only eaten in maybe 5 times in all those years. I have been going to Misona for over five years and have always enjoyed the great service, beautiful atmosphere and solid sushi but tonight was a disappointment. I ordered the super crab roll which is my favorite and one I eat on my monthly visit there. Unforfinately, it seems that Misona is trying to save money by adding filler to this $15.95 roll. Tonights roll, which is normally stacked with a blend of fake crab and real crab and mayo had only small flakes of FAKE crab and was mostly tempura crubs. At $16 for one roll I expected that there would be some REAL crab. Cheap! You are not fooling your long time customers and quit trying to skim a buck. Its bad enough that your menu advertizes this as a crab roll, never mentioning that it is a blend of fake and real crab but now there isnt even any real crab in the crab salad on top. That is called false advertising. May never come here again. Ps. I just tried the lobster roll again and what used to involve real pieces of lobster for 14.95 is now lobster mush. (See photo). This place is amazing. I have gone dozens of times. The okdol bibimbap is always a crowd pleaser with any of the meat options available. I love it so much. It is comforting, filling and has plenty of yummy vegetables mixed in. The sauce is an incredible addition. As someone who had a bad experience with sushi once, I was hesitant to try it. Misono completely changed my mind on sushi. Their rolls are so fresh and interesting. I have been craving literally any roll from Misono for days now. The udon soup and yaki udon are also very good. I cannot wait to go back and try even more items on their menu. A testament to how incredible this place is: last week there was over an hour wait for food, and people were still placing orders! Visited Misono this evening after finally feeling comfortable enough to dine in after Boston's implementation of the Covid vaccine mandate for restaurant dining. The hostess promptly checked our vaccine cards and brought us to our table. Let's just say I left this meal feeling extremely pleased with my decision to visit Misono for my first real meal in a restaurant for a long time. Everything was delicious - the fish was fresh and flavorful. Everything was cooked to perfection. Even though there only appeared to be one server working the whole restaurant, the service was exceptional. Can't wait until my next visit to Misono for some delicious eats! read more
