I've been to Sweet Rice countless times and am never disappointed. Usually I go for sashimi, a fish dish, or drunken noodles with tofu. I wanted to try something a bit more veggie-packed, though, so i opted for the Vegetable Basil; it was good! The steamed tofu I added rounded out the dish well with brown rice, and I liked it enough to add to the top of my rotation! Sweet Rice in JP was one of my go-to's for casual sushi and Thai cuisine for many years! I don't really venture out to JP as much nowadays but recommend this place if you're looking for both sushi and Thai food in one spot! Some of my favorite dishes to order from here include: -tuna tataki -volcano roll -spider roll -yellowtail toro roll -chirashi don -pad Thai -crispy duck mango curry -papaya salad All of these dishes are super yummy! Prices are reasonable and have never had a bad meal here. Very similar to MAGURO in Brookline, in terms of the dishes offered. I really enjoy dining here & picking up take out. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is finding parking in this area. There's a lot going on, on Centre St and many restaurants are located here. Find parking is not fun in this area and always struggle to find parking here. read more

I especially loved the berry crab Rangoon (wish I had remembered to take a picture!) and the tropical lo mein, which was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the service was underwhelming. It felt like the staff was more focused on getting us out than checking in to see if we needed anything else. Considering how quiet it was at that hour, the lack of attention stood out. The space is small and can get busy, though that wasn't the case during our visit. There's no parking lot and if you know Centre Street in JP, you already know what a headache that can be. I'll definitely come back--but for pick-up next time. I used to enjoy going to sweet rice. Cuz I love their food but today. Sunday March 29th 2026 at approximately 4:00 I had ordered some food. I was not asked if I wanted to dine in or if I wanted to go. They just assumed that I wanted to order out. But it was fine that way I have my food in a to go plate and I can just leave once I got finished. I got my food I sat down at the bar like right in front of the window. AND started to take my food out my bag. And a ladies approached me. She said are you dining in. I said yeah.I'm going to eat a little bit and then I'm going to go! OH well I can give you a plate. I said no I'm good I don't need a plate I'm okay. She said oh we don't allow people that buy the take out food, we don't allow them to eat in our dining room. I'm not from here I'm from down south and down south. If you long as you're eating from that establishment they don't care if you eat in or eat out. It was not a crowd in there it was nobody in there actually cuz they just reopened. From lunch. So I didn't think anything wrong with it until the lady approached me and said I can't eat in if I have a carryout. I got all my food together she put my cold soda in the bag with my hot food so by the time I got I guess to wherever I wanted to go. My food was going to be either cool down. Or my soda was going to be hot. I did not appreciate this at all I told them as I was walking out. That y'all just lost your best customer because I'm always going to that sweet rice. When I'm at work I was going so much. Did they recognize my phone number. That's how much I enjoy going to sweet rice I enjoyed their food their rice and shrimp and broccoli and rice. Not no more I am a dissatisfied customer and I did not appreciate it that's not right not everybody knows that you can't if you order out you can't eat in that's crazy especially if it's nobody in there. This was my first time getting food from and it's certainly not my last! The shrimp pad thai was delicious! Great flavors and a good amount of the classic toppings pad thai is known for. The spring rolls were great as well. The most, surprising and best item however were the berry crab rangoons! I'm not sure whose idea this was or if this is a classic Thai appetizer. This place used to be great. However, I ordered delivery and I'm pretty close-- less than 15 min away. The food was awful. I had to pick over my meal. I do not like overcooked shrimp. They were not fresh and they were tough and chalky in my mouth. The crispy rolls were soggy.
