This restaurant has a small dinning area but the service was great and the food delicious. I had a perfect lunch catching up with a friend. Sound level was low so it was easy to have a conversation. There's a wine menu, sushi, and Thai dishes. I had a maki combo for my meal and enjoyed it. For dessert I got mango sticky rice. It was wonderful. I've never had that dish before and I loved it. read more

Walked in on a Saturday night with a friend around 7 PM and were seated immediately. We wanted a late dinner to share, and were happy with the dumplings and pad see ew that we got! Good service, clean dining room and excellent food. Portions were reasonable in size and prices were comparable to similar restaurants in the region. It's probably the best Asian restaurant in the area. read more

Always quality food and consistently tasting amazing. The crab rangoons with the berries are phenomenal. Great go-to take out place.

I've been coming here for years food is always great definitely recommend especially the pad Thai.

Pretty solid local spot. Eating in person is better than takeout. All the noodles are great. Service is on point too! Sushi was solid as i had a spicy yellow tail. I recommend the drunken noodles with beef. Ambiance is pretty nice here too especially at the window where you can eat and people watch. read more

My daughter and I came here after a show at the Footlight theater. We enjoyed the chill vibes and variety in the menu. Solid food, good service, parking on the street or in a lot not far from the main street. read more

I've been to Sweet Rice countless times and am never disappointed. Usually I go for sashimi, a fish dish, or drunken noodles with tofu. I wanted to try something a bit more veggie-packed, though, so i opted for the Vegetable Basil; it was good! The steamed tofu I added rounded out the dish well with brown rice, and I liked it enough to add to the top of my rotation! As always, it was a bit busy but not loud, and the staff were very friendly; we did sit by the door, so it was cold with the winter wind, but nothing I couldn't ignore. read more

Sweet Rice in JP was one of my go-to's for casual sushi and Thai cuisine for many years! I don't really venture out to JP as much nowadays but recommend this place if you're looking for both sushi and Thai food in one spot! Some of my favorite dishes to order from here include: -tuna tataki -volcano roll -spider roll -yellowtail toro roll -chirashi don -pad Thai -crispy duck mango curry -papaya salad All of these dishes are super yummy! Prices are reasonable and have never had a bad meal here. Very similar to MAGURO in Brookline, in terms of the dishes offered. I really enjoy dining here & picking up take out. The only thing that I'm not a fan of is finding parking in this area. There's a lot going on, on Centre St and many restaurants are located here. Find parking is not fun in this area and always struggle to find parking here. read more

I visited Sweet Rice JP on a weekday around 3:15pm after the lunch rush. The food did not disappoint everything was fresh and flavorful. I especially loved the berry crab Rangoon (wish I had remembered to take a picture!) and the tropical lo mein, which was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the service was underwhelming. It felt like the staff was more focused on getting us out than checking in to see if we needed anything else. Considering how quiet it was at that hour, the lack of attention stood out. The space is small and can get busy, though that wasn't the case during our visit. There's no parking lot and if you know Centre Street in JP, you already know what a headache that can be. I'll definitely come back--but for pick-up next time. The food is worth it, but the dine-in service didn't meet the standard I'd tip 22%+ for. read more

Stunning variety of well-prepared Asian specialties. I went the Thai route (pad woon sen) and it was very tasty. There is an obvious sushi fan club here that revels in their (fairly expensive) rolls. Party of two, excellent service. Our bill was less than I'd hoped for. It was all fresh, had good ingredients, wasn't too greasy. It might not be good for a huge gathering, but it was cozy for us. Recommended. read more

Yum yum yum yum yummitty yum yum!!! Called in on whim and ordered take out front the counter. I was offered a seat at the window counter and had a relatively quick wait. Orders pad see ew and Tim yum soup. it was excellent!!! Very generous and large shrimp in both items. Flavor was perfection! Spicy in flavors and spicy in . Just the way I like it!! Wish I lived closer because this would probably be on rotation! Inside looked friendly, well decorated and not tacky. Very cozy dining. 10/10!!! read more

Love pad Thai, chicken satay, pineapple rice and Thai tea; and just about everything here..!

My mom orders for takeout from here often and there's always quite a few people dining inside when we go to pick up. I really like the pad c-u. It's very tasty. The basil fried rice is good. I always ask for them to make my food spicy and they don't deliver, but the food is still flavorful. Their portions always vary. A lot of the time, the container isn't even full. The sweet sticky rice with mango is my absolute favorite. read more

Went recently for weeknight dinner. The space is beautiful with some lovely wallpaper, color and light. Great menu items sushi and Thai dishes available. Be sure to tell folks your allergies. Got mango sticky rice to go and it was a 8/10. Looked like a nice lively place to have dinner inside as well.

Visited recently for a weeknight dinner. The space is beautiful, with lovely wallpaper, colors, and lighting. The menu offers great options, including sushi and Thai dishes. This review is for experience on 7/27/2025. We got severely food poisoned at Sweet Rice today. Severely! We are never going back. This was a favorite spot but now there is new staff or lack of hygiene. We are not putting our lives in danger here again. read more

This was my first time getting food from and it's certainly not my last! The shrimp pad thai was delicious! Great flavors and a good amount of the classic toppings pad thai is known for. The spring rolls were great as well. The most, surprising and best item however were the berry crab rangoons! I'm not sure whose idea this was or if this is a classic Thai appetizer. However it was delicious! Very unique flavors that wasn't to sweet and the savory flavors were still there! All and all this was a great meal! read more

Living in Jamaica Plain, this was an absolute staple for us. Takeout is very efficient and the food is always up to par!

This place used to be great. However, I ordered delivery and I'm pretty close-- less than 15 min away. The food was awful. I had to pick over my meal. I do not like overcooked shrimp. They were not fresh and they were tough and chalky in my mouth. The crispy rolls were soggy. At first I thought it was just the packaging but the gummy corn covered was a complete giveaway that the food was simply not fresh and/or overcooked. It was a waste of money. read more

The pad Thai is quite good. So is the sushi. Also helps that the sushi is amongst the more reasonably priced

What's not to adore. We came in, seated promptly and soon thereafter asked for drinks. We ordered two different beers, they were delicious. Ordered appetizers, they are huge be forewarned. Avocado rolls and then brussels sprouts. Both portions were huge. We then ordered sushi and again the portions were large. Price was great for all the food we ate. Small pet peeve is the food came very quickly and the tables are too small to hold all the dishes -- we had to do some juggling with plates til it was orderly. And parking was easy and plentiful. read more

I used to enjoy going to sweet rice. Cuz I love their food but today. Sunday March 29th 2026 at approximately 4:00 I had ordered some food. I was not asked if I wanted to dine in or if I wanted to go. They just assumed that I wanted to order out. But it was fine that way I have my food in a to go plate and I can just leave once I got finished. I got my food I sat down at the bar like right in front of the window. AND started to take my food out my bag. And a ladies approached me. She said are you dining in. I said yeah.I'm going to eat a little bit and then I'm going to go! OH well I can give you a plate. I said no I'm good I don't need a plate I'm okay. She said oh we don't allow people that buy the take out food, we don't allow them to eat in our dining room. I'm not from here I'm from down south and down south. If you long as you're eating from that establishment they don't care if you eat in or eat out. It was not a crowd in there it was nobody in there actually cuz they just reopened. From lunch. So I didn't think anything wrong with it until the lady approached me and said I can't eat in if I have a carryout. I got all my food together she put my cold soda in the bag with my hot food so by the time I got I guess to wherever I wanted to go. My food was going to be either cool down. Or my soda was going to be hot. I did not appreciate this at all I told them as I was walking out. That y'all just lost your best customer because I'm always going to that sweet rice. When I'm at work I was going so much. Did they recognize my phone number. That's how much I enjoy going to sweet rice I enjoyed their food their rice and shrimp and broccoli and rice. Not no more I am a dissatisfied customer and I did not appreciate it that's not right not everybody knows that you can't if you order out you can't eat in that's crazy especially if it's nobody in there. IM AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS AT ALL !!! read more

My go-to Thai restaurant in JP. Decided to actually sit in instead of getting takeout. Ambiance: Tables are very close together. Hello neighbor! Not a fan of the chairs though. They are super uncomfortable. Service: Poor. Looks like there's only one waitress for the entire place. It's not very big, but this place gets very busy. Food: Everything her is great here. Had the berry egg roll and loved it! Ordered the yellow curry with chicken. Very good, just enough kick to it. Only downfall, the few pieces of sweet potatoes served were not cooked all way. We ordered jasmine rice and was served white rice. I'm getting takeout next time. read more

Entrance door is a bit hard to open but once you are in you are welcomed with a warm greeting. Friendly staff and service. Prices are fair and reasonable especially for the healthy sized portions. The papaya salad was fresh, with spice (there could have been more heat ) and very filling. Definitely can share the papaya salad with at least 3 people.
