    Pineapple rice

I'm surprised this only has 3.5 stars on yelp for a good and affordable Thai option in Boston! All of our dishes were solid, and I was happy to see fair prices. The restaurant is pretty small with only 3-4 main dining tables, mostly take out. I also got a Thai iced tea which was good and they have unique sodas. Overall this was a solid spot with great papaya salad that actually had a small spicy kick as well, a dish I do not see prepared very authentically elsewhere. Definitely a spot to add to your routine!

Driven by a thousand times... stopped in as in mood for chicken satay... very good food,, prices very reasonable and look's excellent take out or delivery food spot... Ordered some apps and under 26 bucks total.

    Spicy Basil with tofu

Did a take out order online on a Friday around 5:15pm. We ordered Coconut soup with shrimp, Pineapple fried rice and Spicy basil with tofu. The soup is a small portion with 2 shrimp. Overly salty, but also tasty with nice lemongrass and cilantro and mushrooms. The fried rice is a decent portion. Two pieces of broccoli, which is stingy, plenty of onions and baby corn. It's both sweet and spicy. The spicy basil with tofu is very tasty, but not a large dish. Next time I would add more veggies because onions and peppers and carrots are not enough. The tofu is good and plentiful, but the pieces are very large, especially compared to the smaller cut veggies. If the tofu was half the size, it would work better. The dish comes with jasmine rice which goes very well with it. The prices here are lower than the local competition which is a plus and the food was ready really quickly. It's a solid B option, nothing wrong with that!

This was a cute find on my rainy day exploring the Boston College neighborhood. Lots of eateries here for the studious. Despite being a cold rainy day, I was happy this place was available. On the small side compared to a restaurant but for a good reason. Small places tend to have the best quality food and I can say the expectations lived up. Got the Krapow Crispy Chicken on a bed of white rice and sweet and savory sauce with spiced stir fried veggies. This isn't a common Thai dish I see available in Thai restaurants but I'm glad my experimental choice worked and this was so savory and sauced. Had to eat it the moment this dish made out of the kitchen. Only one staff member was at the front and this place is tiny enough to service both diners and quick service takeouts. Highly recommended if you want some homely comfort Thai food in the Boston campus neighborhoods. And if Coconut Newton does well for a bigger space, I know they'll happily have more staff for their customers.

    Pad Thai

We ordered a variety of dishes from coconut Thai. Some we really liked. The pad Thai and pad see ew were great. The scallion pancakes were a little too thin and crispy, but if you like them that way then you would like these. I was impressed by all the indoor and outdoor seating they had. So if you wanted to dine in you could do that too. The owners were really friendly when I picked up my order and it was ready on time. They did forget one appetizer we ordered but it was no big deal and we easily got a refund after calling. Overall, it's an average Thai restaurant.

Dirty shoyu ramen, not so good, not worth it even at a relatively below average price of $13.50, sadly.

Very friendly service but just average foods. Had the Indonesian fried rice ($11.95, just ok as the fried egg was cold on very hot fried rice), scallion pancake ($5.95, just ok, could not see any scallions inside the pancake at all) and dirty shoyu ramen ($13.50, not so good, seems like MSG broth, the cha siu was not fatty and the ramen is like ones could be bought at HMart, meh). Perhaps we ordered the wrong stuff? Or it is another nothing special restaurant...

    Curry Puff - would recommend!

There wasn't a strong ginger or garlic essence like I'm used to in a Thai brown gravy. My friends seemed happy with their curries though...so maybe I just ordered wrong. On Sunday, they have a very strong takeout business, which also impacted the ambience. At one point there were like six people waiting in line at the entrance. In such a small establishment, it changes the vibe to have people hovering and getting impatient and clarifying orders, with the frequent entrance/exit of new patrons. Our table was closest to the entrance so we probably "felt" it more than other tables would have. Still, for the "mom's night out" space that we were cultivating, I would've preferred to pay more to go someplace that had less of a takeout vibe. Note: there is only one all-gender restroom and it is for customer use only. Free parking out front.

The chicken pad Thai was very good yet I wish the chicken had been cut into smaller pieces and it felt a bit overcooked. I missed the lime piece too. Still very good. Loved the Thai iced tea. Not too sweet. I would order from here again especially as the portions were quite healthy! I appreciated a good takeout dinner.

The Pla Pad Kun Chai which is a fried cod fillet, with a mix of root spices and Chinese celery, had some complex flavors that didn't pan out - the fish itself was breaded in a batter that was perhaps a bit too MSG-laden, and not enough distinctive a flavor to justify its saltiness; and the Chinese celery was really tough, which didn't make for a good bite of texture. The green onions were too crispy relative to the other alliums. The Kao Soi Brisket had some decent beef pieces, but then some of the other pieces were way tough. The soup (or is it a sauce?) was way thick, and overall the dish was overly salted. There also needs to be more noodle, and more mustard green overall. The curry puff was a good idea, but the puff itself was rather dry, and not particularly well integrated with the chicken, potatoes, and alliums. The stuffing might also have been underseasoned. In general the dishes demonstrate expert preparation, but the concepts need reworking. The new environment (across the street from the former location) is a tad loud when populated with many diners, though visually it's a pleasant place to dine. The servers were attentive and respectful.

Nice quality tables and chairs as well as decorations creates an inviting environment. The warmth of the staff also makes it inviting. Food Type: What you would expect like Street food, classics. noodles and curries and a few regional specialties. Prices: Reasonable for food of this quality. We spent $90 pre-tip for three including an appetizer and a few beers (for me only). Food Quality: Very Good. We had three dishes and an appetizer and shared everything. Singha and Leo beer available as expected washed it down. I have been to Thailand on business trips and vacation and by no means have a palette capable of detecting nuances in regional dishes (I can a bit for Korean and Japanese due to extended time spent there), but could taste it was a bit playing to the American tastes. Still really good. Service: Friendly and generally fast. Minus (-) The meals came out separately. Meal one came with the appetizer. Then 7-10 minutes the second meal. Then 7-10 minutes the third meal. If eating American style ie everyone eats only their own meal, this would be a real problem. As my wife is Korean we usually eat family style (we often share meals at American restaurants, why not, you get to try more dishes), so this was not an issue really. The pluses outweigh negative it is still 4.5 rounder to 5. Absolutely worth a try. Enjoy!

There were 6 of us and we ordered 6 things, and fortunately we weren't ravenously hungry because otherwise we might've needed at least 3 more. We ordered mushroom salad, pad paa (a scrumptious concoction of veggies in sauce that comes with jasmine rice), crab fried rice, roasted brussel sprouts, grilled pork cheek, chicken ka praw. The order was ready for pickup within 30 minutes (which is what it predicted online). The food was freshly made, hot, ready to go at 8 p.m. and the staff were friendly and helpful. It looked like the customers there were having a fun time. We all really enjoyed every bite, particularly the pad paa with jasmine rice. It ended up being enough food for us as well.

The fried chicken skin was a standout. The crispy skin paired perfectly with a cold beer. The Pad Thai was also delicious, the Brussels sprouts were wonderfully crispy with a simple but flavorful seasoning, and the beef Massaman curry was rich and comforting--I'd definitely recommend ordering a bowl of rice to go with it. The pork cheek was incredibly tender and very filling. Not every dish was a hit, though. The crab fried rice was a bit disappointing. It was essentially regular fried rice with just a few pieces of crab sprinkled on top, so it didn't feel worth ordering. The crab curry was also a letdown. If you do order it, I'd recommend having it with rice instead of the rice noodles, as I think that would make it more enjoyable. Overall, the quality of the food and the excellent service made for a very enjoyable meal, and I'd happily come back to try more dishes.

We walked into a space with a cute, unique quality to it, and the menu covers a wide range of Thai dishes including ramen, curries, noodles, and rice dishes, which gives a table with different preferences plenty of directions to go. The pad see ew and basil fried rice are both solid orders that cover familiar ground competently. The noodles on the pad see ew had decent wok character and the basil fried rice was well seasoned and aromatic, though neither dish pushed beyond what you would expect from a good neighborhood Thai spot. The mango sticky rice is a satisfying finish and the sticky rice texture was on point, though the mango itself can vary depending on the season. The Thai tea is well made and a natural complement to the spicier dishes on the table. Across everything we ordered, the food was consistently good without being particularly memorable, landing in that comfortable range where you leave satisfied but not necessarily thinking about it the next day. For a weeknight dinner close to home it works well and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price. The menu is large enough that there is probably a higher ceiling to explore on return visits with some of the more distinctive options like the khao soi, tamarind wings, or crispy duck. Service and pickup accuracy have been inconsistent based on different visits, so dining in tends to produce a smoother experience than ordering out. As a neighborhood Thai option in Needham, it fills the gap well enough.
