D6. Crispy Chicken Basil Asked for no mushrooms (clearly mushrooms are present)
    Justina B.

In all, very decent Thai food. I would definitely consider eating here again. To consider in my review: I ordered delivery through door dash. The time elapsed from order to plate was about 40 mins. My order: chicken satay, add peanut sauce ($1), and crispy chicken basil (no mushrooms, medium spicy) Pros: the satay was DELICIOUS. Everything about it was right. the chicken was moist and tender, and absolute flavourtown. It had the right amount of spice, and was hands-down a win from every angle. The Crispy Chicken Basil was good, flavour-wise. It had a bright spicy flavour and a nice crunch from the veggies. It was definitely a 5/10 spice level. Cons: - Of note, I had ordered the the main entree (crispy chicken basil) without mushrooms (personal preference, not allergy.... I even said "please"... hah.). ***However it did come with mushrooms.*** I'm not deducting any "points" for this, since ***I*** can easily pick out the mushrooms, but if you have an allergy, this could have been a problem. The "crispy" chicken did get soggy by the time it arrived. Perhaps this one is better ordered for dine-in.... or ask for the chicken on the side so it doesn't get soggy. The portion of chicken in the main dish was pathetic for the $15 price tag. (the equivalent of one of the satay chicken pieces I'd say... *if* that). The last critique is that it is called crispy chicken basil... of which it was not crispy, there was no basil flavour, and there was barely any chicken. So I'm definitely salty about it. In all, the crispy chicken basil looked more like a lunch portion..? Final rating: 6/10. Would I go here again? For the satay? absolutely. I'd have to look around the menu for something else to go with it though.

Tom yum noodle soup . Very tasty. Definitely enjoyed it.

Some pretty good Thai food here. Awhile back I had the tom yum noodle soup and it was pretty tasty. Restaurant has decent amount of seating for busy lunch times. Nice tangy/sweet savory soup and good portion of noodles. I've also had the country style pad Thai recently and requested for extra spicy. That was perfect. If you like spicy and pad Thai, this was truly enjoyable. I really enjoyed the crush peanuts on the side. They have a fairly large menu, including a variety of vegetarian options as well. Overall, enjoyable restaurant to enjoy a meal. Drawback is limited free parking around the area. But they do have metered parking during the day. This location is right around the corner of Blue Ribbon bbq. Thai'me for soon good eating.

First off, the quantity was very less. We expected the serving plate to be full of noodles and veggies. Had to order 2 because of less quantity. Veggie Pad kee mao - the flavors were not great, just an averagely good dish. 3/5 for this Panaang curry - again, average/mild taste. The beans seemed a bit uncooked.

I should've read the reviews first. This food is just not good. The portions are tiny. For example, just six pieces of tofu, with the fried tofu appetizer. They did not include utensils or napkins as requested, nor was there any rice with the entrée. Everything was soggy and tasteless. This was a delivery order, from GrubHub, and that made it even worse since the bad food that started the order turned into cold bad food after nearly an hour of waiting (30 minutes past GrubHub's estimated delivery time.) But the bottom line is that the food isn't very good no matter how you get it.

Indonesian Fried Rice and Crispy chicken

I ordered the Indonesian Fried Rice w Crispy Chicken. The chicken is beautifully seasoned and cooked.

Thai iced tea, lychee fried rice, star noodles, pad Thai

Who would've guessed that there's solid Thai food in Newton? A small sized restaurant in the mix with many other restaurants on the block. We ordered take out and got pad thai, lychee fried rice, star noodles, and a classic Thai iced tea. (You can't get Thai food without the Thai iced tea). This was the first time I've seen lychee fried rice and was excited to try it. Surprisingly, it was pretty good since the lychee was full of juice and gave the fried rice a different texture than you're used to eating. The star noodles were great and have a mix of shrimp and different veggies from beans to broccoli in it. The pad thai was pretty classic and the Thai iced tea was a perfect drink to have alongside this meal. If you're in the area, it's a great place to check out and since their menu is so extensive, I'll be back to try out more dishes!

    Penang crispy duck

Came here Sunday night for dinner. There is a public parking lot across the street. Alot of seats available but somehow they were understaffed. We waited a while before we got our orders in. I started with non-dairy thai iced tea. It is refreshing. Kinda wish they serve it with crushed ice and with lemon juice like another thai place I've been. Golden bags for appetizers. It wasnt anything special. Just a typical deep fried appetizer with a sweet/sour type dip. I wouldn't order it again. Shrimp Tom yom soup was delicious. Flavorful. Good amount of spice. Country pad thai wasn't as great as I expected. It is like typical pad thai with a different sauce. I'd stick with regular pad thai. Jade noodles was something I cannot recommend. The noodles have a weird chew to it. The dish was salty. The chicken and stir fried vegetable was disappointing. The dish doesnt even look good. Check out the best jade noodles I had in Los Angeles in my post at Sapp coffee house. That is how jade noodles should be. The penang crispy duck was also disappointing for the price. The duck was not crispy. It was soggy and covered in typical stir fried vegetables. The curry sauce was good though but that is about it. I wouldn't recommend that quality for the price. Overall, disappointed. I've had better thai food with better service. Maybe it was an off day for them but the overall experience left a bad aftertaste. Unlikely to return.

Ordered "chicken" basil fried rice. These two tiny specks of "chicken" were the only chicken pieces we could find.

Ordered "chicken" basil fried rice. These two tiny specks of "chicken" were the only chicken pieces we could find. I wouldn't get their food here. Also, the fried rice tastes burnt. I dont mean nice fire taste.

Fried chicken wings, tiny wings not much bigger than that spoon.

There wasn't a strong ginger or garlic essence like I'm used to in a Thai brown gravy. My friends seemed happy with their curries though...so maybe I just ordered wrong. On Sunday, they have a very strong takeout business, which also impacted the ambience. At one point there were like six people waiting in line at the entrance. In such a small establishment, it changes the vibe to have people hovering and getting impatient and clarifying orders, with the frequent entrance/exit of new patrons. Our table was closest to the entrance so we probably "felt" it more than other tables would have. Still, for the "mom's night out" space that we were cultivating, I would've preferred to pay more to go someplace that had less of a takeout vibe. Note: there is only one all-gender restroom and it is for customer use only. Free parking out front.

Not too sweet. I would order from here again especially as the portions were quite healthy! I appreciated a good takeout dinner.

The Pla Pad Kun Chai which is a fried cod fillet, with a mix of root spices and Chinese celery, had some complex flavors that didn't pan out - the fish itself was breaded in a batter that was perhaps a bit too MSG-laden, and not enough distinctive a flavor to justify its saltiness; and the Chinese celery was really tough, which didn't make for a good bite of texture. The green onions were too crispy relative to the other alliums. The Kao Soi Brisket had some decent beef pieces, but then some of the other pieces were way tough. The soup (or is it a sauce?) was way thick, and overall the dish was overly salted. There also needs to be more noodle, and more mustard green overall. The curry puff was a good idea, but the puff itself was rather dry, and not particularly well integrated with the chicken, potatoes, and alliums. The stuffing might also have been underseasoned. In general the dishes demonstrate expert preparation, but the concepts need reworking. The new environment (across the street from the former location) is a tad loud when populated with many diners, though visually it's a pleasant place to dine. The servers were attentive and respectful.

Nice quality tables and chairs as well as decorations creates an inviting environment. The warmth of the staff also makes it inviting. Food Type: What you would expect like Street food, classics. noodles and curries and a few regional specialties. Prices: Reasonable for food of this quality. We spent $90 pre-tip for three including an appetizer and a few beers (for me only). Food Quality: Very Good. We had three dishes and an appetizer and shared everything. Singha and Leo beer available as expected washed it down. I have been to Thailand on business trips and vacation and by no means have a palette capable of detecting nuances in regional dishes (I can a bit for Korean and Japanese due to extended time spent there), but could taste it was a bit playing to the American tastes. Still really good. Service: Friendly and generally fast. Minus (-) The meals came out separately. Meal one came with the appetizer. Then 7-10 minutes the second meal. Then 7-10 minutes the third meal. If eating American style ie everyone eats only their own meal, this would be a real problem. As my wife is Korean we usually eat family style (we often share meals at American restaurants, why not, you get to try more dishes), so this was not an issue really. The pluses outweigh negative it is still 4.5 rounder to 5. Absolutely worth a try. Enjoy!

We walked into a space with a cute, unique quality to it, and the menu covers a wide range of Thai dishes including ramen, curries, noodles, and rice dishes, which gives a table with different preferences plenty of directions to go. The pad see ew and basil fried rice are both solid orders that cover familiar ground competently. The noodles on the pad see ew had decent wok character and the basil fried rice was well seasoned and aromatic, though neither dish pushed beyond what you would expect from a good neighborhood Thai spot. The mango sticky rice is a satisfying finish and the sticky rice texture was on point, though the mango itself can vary depending on the season. The Thai tea is well made and a natural complement to the spicier dishes on the table. Across everything we ordered, the food was consistently good without being particularly memorable, landing in that comfortable range where you leave satisfied but not necessarily thinking about it the next day. For a weeknight dinner close to home it works well and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price. The menu is large enough that there is probably a higher ceiling to explore on return visits with some of the more distinctive options like the khao soi, tamarind wings, or crispy duck. Service and pickup accuracy have been inconsistent based on different visits, so dining in tends to produce a smoother experience than ordering out. As a neighborhood Thai option in Needham, it fills the gap well enough.

Unfortunately, during our most recent visit, we experienced something extremely disturbing involving our 18-month-old child. From the moment we arrived, the server appeared visibly irritated and was openly complaining about work pressure and staffing issues. We understood that restaurants can be understaffed and stressful, so we initially tried to be patient and respectful. However, the situation became unacceptable when our infant child was seated in a high chair. The server brought plastic wrap, duct tape, and scissors toward the table and attempted to "wrap" the high chair area while saying that "kids make a mess." When I asked what she was doing, her behavior and comments felt completely inappropriate, offensive, and deeply upsetting. After that, the server repeatedly returned to our table with what we felt was hostile and abusive behavior toward our child and family. Even though we had already ordered nearly $200 worth of food, we chose to leave because no parent should ever feel their child is being mistreated. Children cannot always speak for themselves, especially infants and toddlers, and they deserve to be treated with kindness, patience, and dignity everywhere they go. I strongly encourage families and parents to think carefully before supporting businesses where children are not treated respectfully. This experience was heartbreaking for our family, and I hope the restaurant takes this matter seriously and ensures no other child or family experiences something similar again.
