Had lunch here on a quiet weekday afternoon. It is a small cozy restaurant. Thai iced coffee was very good. Crab rangoon and Curry Veggie Puff were delicious. Their Thai fried rice was very average, there was barely any flavor to it and the veggies added were a bit too raw for our liking. The pad-ki-mo was also meh, lacking flavor and seasoning. The server was very friendly and the restaurant and bathroom were very clean. Ample parking available.

Pineapple Thai cuisine in Chestnut Hill is a very unassuming but amazing Thai restaurant. I recently ordered takeout food there when I was looking for Thai restaurants in the area and had no idea there was a Thai place in the Chestnut Hill shops area. The online order system was easy although I wish they had it so you could scroll through the entire menu rather than have to click each individual category and have to go back and forth (very minor criticism). I got the pork pad see ew and chicken pad prik khing which was something new that I had never heard of. The photo looked amazing with string beans and spices. When I picked up my order it was ready in a few minutes after my arrival and was piping hot. The pad prik khing came with rice and it was one of the best foods I have ever had. There were plenty of string beans with bell pepper and chicken and I got regular spicy which was a good amount of heat. The sauce was amazing and I can't even explain how good it was. I highly recommend this dish and it also came with a side of white rice which helped tone down the spice. The pad see ew was equally as amazing even though I have had this dish before at other places. So flavorful, and you can really taste a good smoky flavor from how it was cooked. The chinese broccoli was crunchy, the noodles were nice and soft and had the perfect amount of sauce. This place was so good! It's honestly one of the best if not the best Thai food I have had in Boston/the Boston area. The portions were good but most importantly the flavor was incredible. If I am in the area again I will for sure be coming back. Side note: I did not dine in but the restaurant is very nice and clean.

Good food, good service, simple but nice decor and there is ample parking which is hard to find in Newton.

All I can say is go somewhere else- here is the response I received from the owner after I posted my honest review stating the food is excellent, and that I have been a customer for years, but the wait times of sometimes over 2 hours is not justifiable for take out. The owner told me he did not need my business and called me a loser. Is this who you went to give your business to? Not me.

I have eaten at the place and have ordered take out before, and I think that they give you a good amount of food regardless! The quality is solid and I have always had a good experience with them. The service there is also good and they're nice whenever I went to pick up or dine in! The place is also cozy and small but there still is a lot of space at the restaurant to eat (tables/chairs). If you're in the area or near the area for delivery, I would try this place out!

Great place for Thai food! I ordered takeout for dinner and it was nicely packaged for pickup! I ordered the pineapple curry, crispy wings, Thai tea, and crispy chicken pad Thai. The pineapple curry was amazing, probably one of the best curries I have ever ordered! Yes, I like pineapple on my pizza as well! The wings were crispy and mild in flavor. The pad Thai was just ok in my opinion. The Thai tea was great as well, the perfect amount of sweetness, strong thai tea flavor and creamy!

Bonus points for an extravagantly laminated menu that has pictures of every single dish rendered in uber-colorful detail. We got the: papaya salad with shrimp; chicken satay; crab fried rice; pad thai; and mango sticky rice. More than enough food to feed two people, including a little bit for leftovers the next day. The crab fried rice - please, please get this. I'm usually not a fried rice person, as my parents taught me long ago that rice is just filler and must be avoided at all costs at the buffet line, but their crab fried rice is stellar. Loaded with generous chunks of real crab and so flavorful, with the smokiness of the wok permeating through. I also usually skip the pad thai at any Thai restaurant but I loved this rendition, beautiful balance of sweet and salty, and with all the necessary accoutrements, like chopped peanuts and a squeeze of lime. I would say the chicken satay is maybe a skip but it comes with an incredible peanut sauce that I love to slather on top of everything. Mango sticky rice: eh, it's not the season for mango. The one that came with ours was definitely a bit anemic and limp. The warm sticky rice covered in condensed milk with the faintest tinge of pandan green was good enough to eat on its own. They're really busy so not the best place to sit and talk with your friends all evening. Also not a lot of street parking on a busy street. I suggest walking or taking the bus over. Need to order the fried fish next time. You know a Thai place is excellent when I'm lured away from my beloved green curry to try the other options.

Back then, they were a normal-style restaurant (similar system to Panda Express). After that first time, I quickly became a repeat customer because of their catfish, pork soup, and the crispy pork. Just those three were sufficient and then several months later, they became a buffet-style restaurant. I was elated. They experimented with other dishes but the crispy pork remained my favorite. No matter what dish they make, all of them were infused with strong flavors and mouth-watering aroma. It is truly a tragedy that this restaurant closed. Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): The people here were incredibly courteous and kind whenever they served us. Wait-time can be rather long ever since they converted to a buffet-style but somehow they still manage to keep the restaurant clean and well-kept. Price (1/1): Even back when they were NOT a buffet, their price were very reasonable for the amount of food they give. That positive is multiplied so many times once they transitioned to buffet-style.

It was very busy but we were able to get a table for two within 5 min. The service was super slow. Took ~20 min for our server to take our order & another 40 min for our food to come. We noticed our server was the only server for all the tables, haha crazy! Here's what we ended up ordering: -roti (w/ potato curry sauce) -chicken wings (w/ spicy garlic sauce) -pad see ew -pla pad kun chai (fried cod fish fillet w/ lemongrass + Chinese celery) -Thai iced tea We tried the chicken wings, the roti, and Thai iced teas at the restaurant & ended up requesting for the rest of our food to go since we were on a time crunch. Thoughts: The pad see ew was delicious! We reheated it later that night & it was flavorful. I would definitely get this again. The chicken wings had good flavor but we found the chicken itself to be very dry inside. Made it difficult to enjoy. I loved the potato curry sauce that came with the roti. Simple but tasty dish. The pla pad kun chai was our least favorite dish we ordered. It didn't taste good at all after reheating. We're curious if we would've enjoyed this more if we ate it at the restaurant when it was fresh? The fish had a very fishy smell & didn't taste like it had been treated with lemon, vinegar, or both. We usually enjoy cod fish & lemongrass but this was a complete miss for us. Lastly, the Thai iced tea was okay. It was a bit too watery for us & we wished it could've been creamier. Overall, I would come back again to give Cha Yen another try. I did like the dishes we tried at the restaurant & perhaps the fish for example would've tasted better if had at the restaurant.

I'm glad I didn't judge it by it's outwardly appearance because it was actually freaking tasty!!! The inside is ... also interesting looking. The service was fast but lacking enthusiasm and could have been a little more friendly and welcoming. The first time I tried it was in person ... inside the restaurant. I've tried it 2 more times since ... both UberEats. The first time really blew me away!!! I was ready to give this place 5 stars!!! The flavors were so perfect and unique. The downside was that the portions were extremely small ... like so small, especially for the price. However, it was so good that I ordered it via UberEats 2x after. The first time I ordered it via UberEats, it was ok, but the second time, it was just horrible ... like way too greasy with no flavor. Just grease and oil. For this reason, I give the rating I did. Arriving at 6, our party of 4 received seating immediately; the establishment only had a few other tables occupied (they did have a decent number of delivery orders). We ordered everything to share, I sampled the following: - Sai Oua | $10 - Crying Tiger | $16 - Kra-Pow w/ground Pork | $14 - Drunken Noodle w/Beef | $16 The Sai Oua, a Northern Thai style of sausage, had both strong lemongrass and earthy herbal flavors. This proved quite addictive; the plate emptied quickly. The Crying Tiger, a grilled steak, proved equally popular given the savory marinade's interplay with tangy dipping sauces. The Kra-Pow w/ground pork, an orthodox menu item representing ground pork sautéed with chili, garlic, basil leaves with hot basil sauce over rice, met expectations. The Drunken noodle with beef, another orthodox menu item, this time with sautéed flat rice noodles with egg, basil, bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and onions in spicy basil sauce, also tasted decent. Notably, the spicy sauce actually had some heat and didn't just taste like soy sauce. Overall, I enjoyed everything. The starting 2 appetizers stood out compared to the mains mostly because of the novelty. The portion sized did seem a bit small, but given the quality, I can understand the establishment trying to maintain a certain price point.
