Somehow 3rd photo came out bit funny, actual color is between 2nd and 3rd photos of mine. Best Indonesian fried rice and pad Thai, best place for to-go to run in and grab your food. They're still as good as prior to the crazy fire they had to deal with. Maybe because I'm not a young college student anymore but still not bad and prices are reasonable enough. Whenever I am close by and just wanted to drive by to grab something on the way home, it's a great option. Quality is still there but don't expect AMAZING. Found another yummy Thai place ... called "Thai Place". LOL!!! Giggling Rice used to be my go to for Thai takeout. However, their hours and availability on Uber Eats is sometimes challenging. Thai Place is very tasty and has good portion sizes. The only downfall is that it's a little pricier than Giggling Rice. I also prefer the Crispy Chicken Pad Thai ("Pad Thai Gai Grob") at Giggling Rice. On the upside though, their fried appetizers are more crunchy and their food is always delivered super quickly. As long as their quality continues, I'll definitely continue to order from there. read more

I ordered from Thai Place through UberEats. I would say the Pad Thai portion was quite large, while the Massaman Curry was a bit small. The Pad Thai was fairly standard, but I think it could have used some more flavor. The Massaman Curry was pretty solid, but I wish they included some avocado and/or sweet potato in there. Thai food, when done right, is so amazing. That said, I think it's really hard to keep things authentic while meeting the various preferences of the local palate that you're serving. I imagine that's likely the conflict that we discovered dining here. We arrived for lunch, and there were only 4 tables in the place. Despite it being peak lunch hour, only one other table was occupied, which could have been a tip off to us ahead of time. The menu was pretty standard, although I was impressed they had multiple options for pad thai which was unusual to me. To start, we ordered the pad woon sen, which is hubby's favorite thai dish, and because there were so many pad thai choices, I opted for that. I asked for a thai iced tea with coconut milk instead of crème, and initially they said they couldn't do it, but then later came back and said yes, and it was good. The entrees were polarized. Hubby's pad woon sen was excellent, with crisp veggies, and well seasoned. I was super jealous because mine was a comparative let down. My pad thai was heavy with sauce and overly sweet to the point of being sickly sweet. I was unable to finish even half of it. The saving grace was dessert. We ordered the coconut sticky rice with mango and it was excellent. The rice was not over cooked, the coconut crème was equal parts sweet and salty, and the mango was ripe and tangy. Service was fast, prices were good, and parking was chaotic on the street. Given the unpredictability of the food, I would not likely return. read more

Updated takeout review: the food I received tonight is not as good as I remember. Thai Place is not usually my go to for Thai food but my other spot was closed, so I decided to try this place again. This place has the best drunken noodles that I have ever had! The noodles were the perfect texture and had a bunch of yummy veggies mixed in too. The drunken noodles that I have had in the past were usually too mushy but Thai Place's was amazing. There was a perfect sweet to savory ratio which I have had a hard time finding at other Thai restaurants. The restaurant is also very accommodating for whatever additions or subtractions to your meal that you want. You can also ask for no spice if that isn't your thing. We called to order and then picked up in person, and the whole process went very smoothly. Thai Place is doing a great job with the COVID-19 safety measures. There is plexiglass set up between the cashier and you, and the employees are wearing masks and gloves. I got the steamed shumai and the pad Thai with chicken, tofu, and fried egg. I was pleasantly surprised with portion size of the pad Thai. This one dish could easily feed 3-4 people. I'm not complaining. The pad Thai was nice touch of sweet and savory (more on the sweet side which I like). Flavor is there, I would say the noodle consistency isn't the same throughout. One of the few places that does delivery not through a third party. I ordered a bunch of entrees to try. Their lunch specials are a good deal, entree/spring roll/crab Rangoon/fried banana/soda. I got the drunken noodles, which was too salty but flavorful. I feel like they accidentally put in the seasoning/sauce for a regular full portion even though it was the lunch special size. The beef red curry came with the beef all stuck together and still raw. I ended up heating the curry on a stove top, but then the beef was pretty inedible. The saving grace was the pad woon sen. Good flavor, not salty and the noodles were cooked to the right consistency. Had a late night take out, midnight on a Saturday, ON MOVE OUT FRENZY in Allston. Order was ready in 15 minutes, maybe less. We couldn't believe how quick things were with so many people out and about constantly ordering from all over. I was scared it would be too good to be true, but IT SURPRISED ME IN A GREAT WAY. Food portions were much bigger than I thought, especially the large fried rice (meal size). Amazing. Price was cheaper than most Thai place--did not effect quality of meal. We ordered veggie fried rice and pad see ew with tofu. For veggie versions, most places just give you the regular meal minus the meat, this place surpassed most by adding veggies galore not in normal meal AND our tofu pad see ew was chock full of tofu & veggies. Rice had an intriguing spice, not just generic soy sauce and rice. Pad see ew had a sauce that involved a bunch of flavors. Tofu wasn't spongey and the veggies were hard AND the noodles were firm & not a soggy mess. A total recommend. And all this for $20! It's a YES from me. PAD THAI - I have been searching for good pad Thai in Boston (Montien? No. U&D? No. Lanta? No. Siam bistro? No.... you get it) and finally I have found it. It's exactly what you want and expect pad Thai to be. Somehow so many places get it wrong. Thai Place does it right. Perfect mix of savory and sweet and just the right amount of moisture. I haaate super dry pad thai. (Also sorry the pic I took sucks) CRISPY CHICKEN - another big thumbs up. Again, exactly what I hope it tastes like every time I order it at a Thai restaurant and somehow it can be very off. Thai Place uses dark meat but I like dark meat and they use good clean cuts of chicken not disgusting fatty pieces as I've seen others use. SPRING ROLLS - very good. The best ones ever are from Krua Thai in Natick, but these are #2 out of probably 50 others I've tried. CRAB RANGOON - these fell a little flat for me. The taste was good, thought a bit too onion-y. But it was the texture of the mixture inside that wasn't my fav. There was a ton of onion which made it very lumpy and chunky (see pic) as opposed to smooth and creamy which would be my pref. This place is amazingly quick, almost too quick. The food was good for fast food but from the reviews I expected better. Think of the McDonalds of Thai food. I ordered the Thai basil rice noodles with chicken. The dish was a dark brown with very little vegetables or chicken but hit the spot for a quick bite before work. This wouldn't be my go to place if I'm back in the area and the price was far from worth the large portion of rice noodles with not much else. If you choose to come consider getting the spicy sauce. The spring rolls are authentically crispy and smoky in a way that other places often fail to replicate. And the Pad See Ew was sublime. The noodles were bouncy, tender, and the perfect amount of sweet. I'm definitely planning to try more dishes but at this point I'm not sure why I would bother ordering from anywhere else. After browsing GrubHub for about an hour, my boyfriend and I decided we couldn't go wrong with thai for our night in. We were luckier than most, as our order came within 45 mins- 1 hr, which was quicker than they said it would take. The food wasn't awful, but I was disappointed because whatever I received was NOT what I ordered. I ordered the garlic entree with tofu. This was supposed to come with baby corn, mushroom, broccoli, snow peas (and maybe a couple other vegetables) in addition to the garlic sauce. What I got was chicken, with carrots, broccolli and pineapple. And the brown rice I had ordered as a side. There wasn't even an entree that included these things! I don't know if it was the end of the night and they just threw a bunch of stuff in. As for the chicken vs. tofu. Good thing I am not an actual vegetarian or I would've been having spring rolls for dinner. It tasted good enough, not a lot of sauce, but plenty of garlic- but again I was disappointed as this was not what I wanted. I knew this was a good place as soon as I saw the Yelp sticker on the door. I was sure it was a good place when I walked in and 3/4 people who worked there all stopped what they were doing to make eye contact with me and say hello. Even if the food were bad, I'd probably come back. I had the tofu tamarind the first time and it was very fresh and tasty--if a little sweet for me. Today I had the pad thai--just right. They do accept credit cards but it costs them money so they prefer if you pay in cash. They are up the block from Urban Renewals, so you can hit them both on the same trip. update: I still like this place, but so far most of the things I've ordered have been too sweet for me. read more

Always fresh and made to order, they have delivery or pickup at the moment and the staff is so very kind. Great thai food, and local neighborhood favorite.
