The food was good, but overall the experience was just okay. The service was pretty average and could have been more attentive. One thing to be aware of is that shrimp is included in a lot of the dishes, so definitely make sure you ask questions about the ingredients and what comes in your meal before ordering. We asked for CHICKEN & when the dish came it had chicken and shrimp and the waitress told us it comes with both... even if we asked for just chicken??? listen, we all want a go-to thai place that doesn't disappoint. i wanted bamboo thai to be mine, but i am not entirely convinced. first, some pros. bamboo thai is a gorgeous little building that's easily accessible by the green b line. their menu is huge with plenty of options and customization opportunities to find something for everyone in your party. i ordered for pickup and our food was ready exactly (and i mean EXACTLY) when we asked it for it to be. portions were good and filling. the taste of everything was solid! now for the areas for improvement. first, the crispy noodles were not crispy. they were a little soggy and paired with some yellowing broccoli which made a very interestingly textured meal. taste was good, but i was missing that crispness that i love in crispy noodles. i also ordered it with extra vegetables and i dont feel like that was what i received. perhaps because there is limited space with the take out container, maybe they could have put it to the side like other restaurants? i can't speak about if you ordered dine-in, but it is something to be aware of. next, the spring rolls (vegetarian style) were a little bare for the additional 7$ they were. if you're offering a vegetarian spring roll, perhaps there would have been tofu or another replacement for the shrimp. i am a believer of second chances and we did enjoy the flavors of everything. maybe the old vegetables and portioning was a fluke! personally, i would try other thai restaurants in the area before giving bamboo thai another chance for delivery. they have the potential for a 4/5 at least. i hope to update this review again with more thoughts on the second try (: read more

I was initially planning on going to La Catrina, which is next to it, but it was closed, so I ended up going here. l was a little disappointed at the quality of the food here, especially compared to other Thai places in the Boston/Cambridge area and due to its four star rating on Yelp. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with tofu made vegan. Overall, it was very bland and lacked seasoning. It definitely needed more sodium and curry flavoring. By the looks of the picture, you can also see that there wasn't that much tofu or pineapple, so the proportions to rice weren't right, and I ended up with a bunch of rice leftover. The service was good, though, and the food came relatively quickly. Because there's so many other amazing Thai places in the Boston/Cambridge area, I probably won't be returning. read more

Love this place. Ambiance: Hands down, this is by far one of the best places to dine in. You actually feel like you've been transported away from the city (maybe to Thailand?!) with the gorgeous art work on the walls and the silent surroundings, and the aquarium with the pretty fishes. I especially love coming here for lunch, it's like a calming experience for me - even their plates remind you to 'breathe' and 'relax' :) Food: I've tried so many things, and they've all been great. My favorite is their curry noodle soup with udon noodles. The broth is so flavorful. It's perfect on a cold day (I like it on hot days too!). The kao kra pow, thai basil fried rice, mango curry with rice, drunken noodles and veggie fried rice are a few other favorites. As a side, especially with a curry dish, the papaya salad is yummy. Sometimes, if I only want a snack, I'll just get a bowl of their soup. Doesn't matter which one, they're all great - but the chicken galangal one is my favorite. Service: Everyone is friendly. Service always comes with a smile. They're very accommodating with your requests. I prefer steamed tofu over fried, and they kindly oblige. Even with spice level requests, they're spot on. I eat a lot of thai food in Boston and this is definitely in the upper half of all the pad seews I've had. Noodles were cooked perfectly. Had that usual pad seew soy saucy-ness flavor. The crispy chicken was not as crispy as I'd liked but I'll attribute that to the delivery and wait time. 2) Vietnamnese iced coffee (4/5): Really liked this! Usually when I get viet iced coffee, the coffee is just too overpowering and I don't really taste anything else in the drink. This one had a good balance of coffee flavor and milk. Overall, great thai food. I would give it 3.5/5 as the portion size was pretty small, the smallest for Thai food delivery I've gotten in Boston. It should be like 30% more. A hidden gem for Thai food up the hill in Brighton. I love it because we can take the green line straight from work, and it's moderately accessible, although a little cramped. I've had the chicken noodle soup bowl, yellow tofu with curry, the appetizer sampler, and the boyfriend has had the sriracha seafood, and shrimp pad Thai. All were delicious, and the Sam's Sampler is delicious and could easily be a small meal for one or two people! They also have a beer and wine menu, as well as sake! Both times we have come here it has been pouring rain, so it's a perfect place for a hot meal and a drink to warm up! The interior was a casual, romantic feel when we walked in to pick up our take out. The servers seemed friendly but seemed to speak minimal English. I, however was extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered a medium level spicy pad Thai but honestly think that I ended up with a high spicy level pad Thai. A few of my friends tried it and said it was definitely spicier than expected. The spiciness unfortunately took away from the flavor of pad Thai itself so it was disappointing.
