    Duck Noodle Soup
    Alana K.

My friend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. The menu is huge and everything looked delicious, so it was difficult to decide what to order. I finally settled on the duck noodle soup with vermicelli noodles. Is there anything more perfect than a big bowl of noodle soup in the fall or winter? No, no there is not. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back and order another bowl. Affordable price, cute interior, and great food. I'd definitely recommend!

I had an enjoyable dinner at Bamboo Thai Restaurant. The Chive Dumplings were unexpectedly good; when they came out, I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. My main course, the House Pad Thai, was delicious - it was very flavorful and fresh. The restaurant is decently priced and the menu has so many options to choose from - it took me so long to decide what to take because everything looked so good! The restaurant itself has such a cute vibe, and it feels very cozy. I would suggest this place for a yummy, well priced Thai meal!

Pad Thai with tofu and extra vegetables

Item(s) ordered: Tofu Pad Thai (with extra veggies and no fish sauce) and Thai tea with boba Speed: arrived via DoorDash within 30 minutes Freshness: hella fresh Value: It makes sense to pay for something this good. The review: This experience ordering delivery from Bamboo Thai was more than I could ask for. The perfectly-fried tofu triangles mingled with rice noodles, crunch peanut topping, and crunchy stir-fried vegetables. The Thai tea was quite creamy but equally delicious, with perfectly cooked boba. Cannot comment on the ambiance because I ordered delivery, but the meal was heavenly. Also great portion size, and it tasted very good despite not having fish sauce, which is hard to find in the vegetarian Thai food sphere.

Finding parking is tough. Thai tea was no good and the tapioca pearls inside were hard and wrinkly. Crab Rangoons were delish but rice was a little spicy for my liking. Also there is a hispanic man cooking the food so Im not sure how authentic this is.

listen, we all want a go-to thai place that doesn't disappoint. i wanted bamboo thai to be mine, but i am not entirely convinced. first, some pros. bamboo thai is a gorgeous little building that's easily accessible by the green b line. their menu is huge with plenty of options and customization opportunities to find something for everyone in your party. i ordered for pickup and our food was ready exactly (and i mean EXACTLY) when we asked it for it to be. portions were good and filling. the taste of everything was solid! now for the areas for improvement. first, the crispy noodles were not crispy. they were a little soggy and paired with some yellowing broccoli which made a very interestingly textured meal. taste was good, but i was missing that crispness that i love in crispy noodles. i also ordered it with extra vegetables and i dont feel like that was what i received. perhaps because there is limited space with the take out container, maybe they could have put it to the side like other restaurants? i can't speak about if you ordered dine-in, but it is something to be aware of. next, the spring rolls (vegetarian style) were a little bare for the additional 7$ they were. if you're offering a vegetarian spring roll, perhaps there would have been tofu or another replacement for the shrimp. i am a believer of second chances and we did enjoy the flavors of everything. maybe the old vegetables and portioning was a fluke! personally, i would try other thai restaurants in the area before giving bamboo thai another chance for delivery. they have the potential for a 4/5 at least. i hope to update this review again with more thoughts on the second try (:

Amazing food, i loved, definitely will try come back soon.

Inside of resturant: super clean and plenty of seating. They have an amazing fish aquarium in the center and are quick to serve. Service: our server was very friendly, consistently making sure we had water and were satisfied with our meal. Food: Reasonably priced- you get a protein, rice and veggies for about $15 not half bad! I got the sesame beef with rice and veggies, for appetizer we ordered calamari which were crispy and a bit of a kick but delicious! Then as a desert highly recommend the fried banana its wrapped in like dumpling paper of sorts and drizzled in honey a perfectly not too sweet and light desert!

    Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu

I was initially planning on going to La Catrina, which is next to it, but it was closed, so I ended up going here. l was a little disappointed at the quality of the food here, especially compared to other Thai places in the Boston/Cambridge area and due to its four star rating on Yelp. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with tofu made vegan. Overall, it was very bland and lacked seasoning. It definitely needed more sodium and curry flavoring. By the looks of the picture, you can also see that there wasn't that much tofu or pineapple, so the proportions to rice weren't right, and I ended up with a bunch of rice leftover. The service was good, though, and the food came relatively quickly. Because there's so many other amazing Thai places in the Boston/Cambridge area, I probably won't be returning.

Amazing Thai food spot! Friendly staff, fast service, reasonable prices. Drunken noodles, cozy shrimp, and chicken kra pow are all amazing.

First time here and it was great! We did the AYCE all-you-can-eat on a Monday (they only do it…read moreMonday and Tuesdays) - got there around 7:30p and even though it was very full, we got seated quickly with a table for 3. It's $50 for the regular AYCE or $80 for the Premium AYCE. We opted for the former, and it was plenty great. We have done lots of AYCE sushi and I will say this is the BEST of them - I think it's because it's the same grade sushi as they would normally do Ala carte on other nights. The $50 menu had plenty of sashimi and regular nigiri (sushi with rice) options and some Thai too. We had mostly the sashimi Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Octopus, a few rolls, some edamame, gyoza, shumai. My favorites were the salmon, as the cuts were large, thick and amazing silky, and the gyoza, as it was perfectly crispy. The Pad Thai was bit way too sweet for my taste - a skip for me next time. The decor is very nice - reminded me of a dive Tokyo bar. Service was quick and very attentive. We will be back!

Have been hearing about their Mon & Tue AYCE, so went on to try it a month or so ago. With what…read moreseems to be a recent price increase, now $50++ allows access to a good variety of sushi/sashimi, on top of apps, ramen, poke bowls, and cooked rice/noodle dishes. Whereas $80++ offers diners a set of amount of uni, plus unlimited amount of everything else, wagyu included. Sounds like a good deal, especially when one can eat a lot. Even as we are no longer Team Eat Till You Burst, we went for the premium, mainly for the nicer cuts such as toro and wagyu, and because uni!! Jumping in shortly after 5pm, we were promptly seated, marked a bunch of stuff on paper, and soon after submission, we got food brought to our table. It was a decent meal overall, so why 3 stars? Let's recap. Menu variety is fantastic, though of course we didn't get "one of everything", coz that's simply impossible. While the premium did cover a lot of grounds, it would have been nice if they also included anago (sea eel) which is currently only available on the a la cart menu, and maybe even offer couple lesser-known items such as monk fish liver app, sea grapes, off-the-beaten-path fish cuts, what have you. Would be happy even if we only get an allotment of those like we do with the uni. Now, service - great overall. Servers circulated around and were alert of customers' needs. Approached at appropriate times to take our order sheets, refill water, provide new order sheets, and ask if we wanted more food. So kudos on that. Their denotation of serving "regular portion" of cooked food had us hesitant in ordering, since we didn't want to be wasteful (or use our limited stomach space for dishes we can easily get elsewhere). But from other tables' orders as well as the one noodle dish that we ended up getting, it seems that the portion size was what I would like to see at AYCE places -- about 50-60% of regular Asian dish size, where 3-4 people can each have a couple bites "just to try". However, to think if that is what they call "regular portion", then it is definitely "Brookline pricing" on a la carte, which I would not recommend one to do such things on these items. Food is fantastic in general; we got a variety of stuff, and everything was really of top quality and taste. The meal would have been a "highly recommended" if they didn't serve the uni that we got. Out of the 12 pcs of uni sushi, all of them were... while not "foul" to a point where one cannot safely consume, they were definitely more sub-par than "ok but not great". Colors aside (which I understand there can be a range depending on origins and such), the uni was a "splat" of yellow stuff on rice, without distinct shape of the flesh. On top of the fishy smell (I'm talking about slightly ammonia-ish), the presentation and taste-texture upon them hitting our tongues... really left the ENTIRE room to be desired. In retrospect, we should have sent them back even if they weren't going to replace them. But instead, we stupidly forced ourselves to shove them all down in cowardly silence, then ordered another round of wagyu just to make us feel a little better about it. Yes, we weren't smart as customers. But if the restaurant is going to charge $100++ per person (after tax and tip), someone from the kitchen should have known better than pushing this thing out for customers to deal with. In their defense, yes, the uni itself was still "edible" in a sense that it didn't make us sick, but I'd maintain that better judgment should have been made. Once the shell was cracked open and you see this pale-gray yellow mush, it should have been decided that it is better repurposed, than be served straight to your customers as your star/featured product. As seen in other diners' experiences, it could just have been a one-off mishap, so I'm not knocking them entirely. But I do hope the restaurant would improve on their QC accordingly. It was such a disappointing low point in an otherwise wonderful meal.

We walked into a space with a warmth that you notice immediately, with fish tanks along the walls and butterfly art details that give it a coziness that feels genuine rather than decorated for the sake of it. The lighting is soft and the overall atmosphere made it easy to settle in for a longer meal. The menu is expansive and covers a lot of ground, which works in its favor for groups with different tastes. We ordered the Thai iced tea, one of the better versions we have found in Boston, rich and creamy without being cloyingly sweet, and worth ordering on its own. Beyond that, the menu offers plenty of Thai classics, and the kitchen seems capable of turning out a wide range of dishes. That said, not everything landed equally. The chicken wings were a disappointment, coming out without the crispiness or seasoning that would make them worth ordering when there are stronger options available elsewhere on the menu. The mango sticky rice, despite sounding like a natural finish to the meal, fell short of what it should be, with the rice texture and the balance between the mango and coconut milk not quite coming together the way it does at spots that treat it as a signature. The prices ran a little higher than we expected, which added to the slight disappointment of the uneven dishes. Overall, Brown Sugar Cafe is a nice place with genuine warmth, but our visit left us feeling a bit let down by the food outside of the Thai iced tea. We would have to go back and try more of the menu to see if it was just a one off occurrence or a pattern. For now, we recommend the tea and the atmosphere, but we would choose carefully on the food.
