AYCE Thai food? Say less! Thai food is probably on my top 5 favorite cuisines. Saw so many food content on both Instagram and TikTok, it's a must try! Immediate reaction when we arrived, this restaurant reminded us so much of Anchan in Braintree. A great Thai restaurant if you're in the south shore. Very nice and cozy interior. Lots of greenery decorations. A clean atmosphere for a AYCE spot. I believe this used to be or still is, a dine in spot minus the hot bar. We got here right at opening for dinner (4:30pm). The smell from the hot bar was amazing. The staff were so nice and welcoming. They still had a few more dishes to bring out so we decided to wait and not get in their way. Once ready, we were all excited. They had many dishes you normally would order off the menu. Pad see ew, papaya salad, glass noodle salad, coconut soup, Tom yum soup, chicken pad krapow, a few seafood dishes, and yellow curry . I believed maybe roughly 12 dishes total. My favorite was their pad see ew and chicken satay skewers and fried pork. It was so flavorful. Along with the glass noodles. I could eat that everyday. Was a little disappointed because there wasn't sticky rice but I get it, it's not cheap and the labor to make it. They had all the sauces out. Everything was so nicely prepared for all the guests. I would definitely come back. Thank you for the wonderful food and the amazing service. Tip : post and tag them on IG to get 10% off!

Relative to Boston, I think this is the best Thai place you will get in the city. Extremely reasonable prices, great service, and extremely tasty food. I have been here twice and have been impressed both times with the noodle and curry dishes I have ordered. In the restaurant they even have a lunch special which is of great value and really adds to the ambiance of the entire place. I would highly recommend Rice Away Thai Express to locals and tourists alike.

One of my favorite AYCE places! I've been here twice and had a great experience both times. The service is great and they're always smiling and so nice! For $18/$22, you can get a great variety of food, ranging from rangoons, spring rolls, papaya salad, Tom yum soup and more. The options are all delicious and they do not hold back on the protein portion sizes! PS if the son in law eggs are available, definitely try them. And if you want a laugh, look up why they're called son in law eggs

My #6th visit ! Simply I was blown away with this beautiful TooGoodToGo Surprise Bag ! Server made one of the very best food package. Most variety and each was full of flavors, beef with vegetables was at top of authentic joy. And TomKah soup was just out of the amazing world. I also found Pad Thai, eggs, with 3 fried spring rolls in the package. A little feast for beautiful night in Allston, Brighton, MA area !

So many different foods to try!

LOVE that they now have lunch buffet for only $18! I don't think I've actually ever seen a Thai buffet before, so this was groundbreaking. Now, I love Thai food, but one of the downsides for me is that I know the two or three dishes that I like and I always order only those dishes. There end up being dozens of dishes on the menu that I never actually try, but with the lunch buffet at Rice Away Thai, I was able to try all sorts of different foods, and they were all delicious! Some highlights: Crab rangoons - Of course these are a staple, and this place does them really well. Doesn't even need sauce! Really nice and crispy with just the right proportion of cream cheese and wonton skin. Penang pork - OH MY. This is one of those dishes I've never had before but the tender pork soaked in this lovely coconut milk curry sauce was to die for. My second plate was basically mostly this. Chicken wing - Nice and flavorful - pretty standard, but I'd get this again for sure. Braise pork belly - This was so tender and soft. It's the item in the middle of the plate photo and it had a great balance of meat and fat and was basically falling apart in my mouth. Fried fish - Crispy and coated in a sweet chili sauce - delicious! Even though it was sitting in a buffet and covered in sauce, it still kept a nice crunch! The rest of the food was also amazing - the shrimp curry had nice flavor, the eggs with crispy shallots were soaked in a sweet soy sauce that was wonderful, and the ground chicken and chicken thigh were both extremely flavorful but also quite spicy! There was pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, and fish, and I loved all of the different options. One thing I will say is that because there are so many sauces, I probably ate more rice than I wanted to, but they have both white rice and fried rice available. I got pretty full off of two full plates, but I'd love to come back and try for three plates next time! I love love LOVE that there is a Thai all you can eat restaurant where I can try all sorts of different dishes - and for a pretty reasonable price too!

This restaurant is very small. My husband and I went for their buffet lunch. I was surprised to see so many selections. The food that we enjoyed the most were the spring rolls and the chicken wings. I have only had Thai food once before many years ago I didn't like it. I can say that I enjoyed the food very much. This restaurant will definitely stay on my list.

For the price of one average takeout entree in Boston at any Thai establishment, you get to try 16+ dishes at same or better quality! The line starts with fried rice, rice, papaya salad, steamed veggies, ground meat, glass noodle starters. Then there are 16 mains including 4 different types of soups (including tom yum and curry), crispy pork belly, crispy cat fish, two beef dishes, two chicken dishes, pad Thai, walnut shrimp, egg rolls and crab rangoons (with pineapple sauce!), chicken wings, veggie medley, shrimp/squid dish. The dishes have an emphasis on pork belly (which I don't mind) as it's sprinkled throughout a lot of the dishes. Dessert was watermelon and a delightful herbal jelly. Everything was actually delicious and I was so uncomfortably stuffed after. The inside is bright and modern. Biggest qualm is that the space is small so the line and buffet flow was quite congested at peak dining times. Also the place is understaffed so plates were not restocked or cleared as quickly as demand, food was not refilled as quickly. Parking around can be tough to find. Either way this place is a steal and I'm looking forward to coming back!

We came here to try the dinner buffet, and it exceeded all expectations. In addition to their à la carte menu, they offer daily lunch ($18) and dinner ($22) buffets. We were amazed by the sheer variety--over 16 Thai dishes including chicken, pork, shrimp, fish, vegetarian options, soups, noodles, and curries. Not only was the selection impressive, but the quality was outstanding. Every dish was hot, fresh, and bursting with fragrance--nothing was oily or bland. Honestly, we would've been happy ordering any of these dishes individually, so sampling such a wide range for just $22 felt like an incredible deal. The staff was attentive, quickly clearing used plates, and the space--though small--was clean and bright. Drinks are around $5, and dessert options range from $7 to $10, though the buffet does include a sweet herbal black jelly. Free street parking was easy to find, and we're already planning our next visit!

I am a Thai food lover. I've had incredible meals and can too tell if a spot is bad immediately by the menu and first meal. Rice Away is an awesome find and I taste tested a ton to verify this. I had: Veggie Curry Puff (good) Taro Curry Puff (great, never had taro before!) Chicken sa-te (no skimping on meat, huge! Awesome taste) Scallion Pancake (good) Green Curry with Vermicelli (great) Pad Thai (I asked for country style and they brought the heat as I hoped. It was huge portion and fantastic) Will be back for more, didn't get to try in person!

Combo #3 (between the two= Pad Thai, Pork Penang Curry, Fried Pork Belly, Thai herbs fish, Stir Fried Squid with salted egg)

Please add a lunch buffet option here!! I recently got takeout, ordering their combo #3 since some friends highly recommended this restaurant and heard a lot about it! Within combo #3, it includes 3 entrees and 1 side for $16! The side options are white rice, fried rice, or pad thai. Considering that you can pick pad thai as your side, that's honestly a steal in itself! It seems as though they have a rotating menu for what entrees you can pick for your combo. My favorite thing here thus far is the Pork Penang Curry. It is a creamy coconut curry, that is not too spicy, and went perfectly with the side of rice I had. Good amount of pork included as well. Pad thai was fine, however the noodle this time was chopped up into shorter 3 inch strands which I was not as big of a fan with. Otherwise the flavor of the pad thai was decent. As for the fried pork belly, it was fairly crispy with a hint of garlic and was a good ratio of pork meat and fat. Thai herbs fish had a mix of green peppercorn, peppers, and onion. Do note that the fish is fried, and overall pretty good entree, but just the quantity of fish given to vegetable ratio was not great. My friend also mentioned that with entrees it is a hit or miss whether there is a decent quantity given. Inside there are a decent number of tables, and in the back left corner of the restaurant there is a counter for entrees as though it was set up for a buffet. Cannot comment on the service since we did not dine in, but we received our order on time. Speaking of this, it would be a great idea if they had a lunch buffet here given the perfect set up with their counter full of entrees! Overall, it's a pretty great family-run restaurant at a great price point, considering Boston doesn't have restaurants serving Thai food with multiple entree options given for a meal, which is what makes this place stand out! What I ordered: - Combo #3 (Pad thai, Pork Penang Curry, Fried pork belly, Thai herbs fish (fried)) - Combo #3 (Pad Thai, Pork Penang Curry, Stir-Fried Squid with Salted Egg, Thai Herbs Chicken (stir-fried)

Was excited to try out Rice Away and really enjoyed it. Came on a Monday for lunch right when they opened. We were the first ones there but more and more people slowly trickled in to eat or get takeout. Between the two of us we ordered the Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Gai Grob Pad Thai. I really enjoyed both dishes but the standout was definitely the noodle soup. It had really good flavors and was exactly what I was looking for. I do wish though that they had soup spoons because we were given just a regular spoon for the noodle soup. Regardless, I'll definitely add Rice Away to my rotation of local eats.

A small but mighty Thai spot! They also have enough seatings although it's small. You can either get from the menu or the combo entree meal rice plate from the pre made dishes. For the combo rice plate, you can choose up to 3 entrees. We opted for the $16 Combo plate with three options - panang curry, tom zab and braised pork belly. Everything tastes authentic and just at the right spice level. I am surprised by how much food is there. I also appreciated how all dishes come in separate bowls instead of all on the same plate. If I have to complain about one thing - probably because we came at night some dishes were out. It would be nice to see all the options. Nevertheless all very solid flavorful dishes! Great service and friendly staff as well. I will definitely be coming back to try other options. -8.9/10

I wish I lived closer! The food here is so tasty and they offer dishes I haven't seen at other Thai restaurants in Boston. I personally really enjoy the cafeteria style service, it gives me the freedom to choose what I want on my plate. We got the Combo with three sides for $16 and we were all very full after the meal. Since I went with a group, everyone ordered something different so we were able to try a lot of their sides. Our favorites were the son in law eggs, spareribs, fried pork, and the curry with morning glory in it. The combo comes with a large portion of rice which is the perfect vehicle for all of the flavors and sauces.

The restaurant was casual, but nice, and had several other tables of diners at that time. The staff was very friendly, as well. The menu had some really interesting dishes that I had not seen elsewhere, but I was lame and ordered my usual - Chicken Pad See Ew. I found the poultry to be very tender, and the included broccoli was fresh and crisp. I should note that the broccoli used was the popular Calabrese kind, while Chinese broccoli cost $1 more. In fact, there were several upcharges scattered around the menu, which was a bit much. Anyway, back to the dish...In addition to the broccoli, carrots were also included, which was not typical for Pad See Ew, but I was fine with it! The sweet soy sauce was a bit thick, like a light gravy, so that was a bit unusual, but the flavor was terrific! I heard reasonably positive things about their Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles as well. Thaitation would be a place I would frequent if I lived in the area.

Noise levels were low for most of the meal, but at one point turned up to blast a rendition of "happy birthday" for another guest - after that, music stayed a bit too loud, which seemed to clash with the otherwise calm ambiance. They didn't ask for our preferred spice levels for the main dishes, and I would've liked everything a little bit spicier. We originally wanted the salmon spring rolls but they were out. We got Tod Mun (fried fish cakes) instead, and they were really tasty. They were smaller but greater in quantity than what I've seen elsewhere, and the sauce was good. I'm not a huge fan of the side salads, though this one surprised me with the spiciness in the dressing. We ordered the mango curry (which comes with chicken, and we added steamed tofu for no charge) and tofu drunken noodles. The noodles were really good, plus looked more appetizing than the similarly-popular pad thai. I was hoping the mango in the curry would be large, beautiful pieces of sweet mango on top, so I was a little disappointed that the small chunks weren't quite as flavorful as I was hoping for. However, I was still quite happy with the dish overall. It also comes with a (pretty small) bowl of rice on the side. The food by itself would be 4 stars for me, except that at the very end of my meal, as I was polishing off the curry, I found a long hair stuck to the bottom of my plate. It didn't match ours, so I know for sure it came from the staff. I know it happens, but the ick factor is hard to get over. Knocked off a star for the unfortunate hair.

I had never heard of this dish before but it quickly became a favorite in my household and we always order at least one order of it. Basically, it is described as "thin egg noodles with Thai style roast pork, fish balls, chinese broccoli, bean sprouts, and topped with crispy wonton." It is AMAZING. On top of what's listed, it comes with ground pork in the noodles and a sweet and savory sauce that perfectly coats the egg noodles. There are 3 different kinds of fish balls - a shrimp one, a whitefish one, and a fried one, as well as peanuts, deliciously juicy roast pork (char sew), and the crispy wontons add that perfect extra texture and crunch. Man, if I could eat this every week I would. Easily a 5/5 - this is the only place I've seen this dish and it is out of this world.
