The Chef special roll was way over priced for what you get, especially only having 1 piece being the best out of the "assorted" fish. The hibachi wasn't good in my opinion, good portion though. Would not order that again. The chicken teriyaki flavor was great, chicken texture was more like grilled on a pan vs over flame. Loved the veggies though. The gyoza and takoyaki were good as well as the strawberry mochi icecream. Wish they were more friendly though, making us feel like we were inconvenient for them was a major turn off.

We visited the day after a large 1-2 foot snowstorm, and Ochi was one of the only restaurants open in town. I've eaten at Ochi 4x since it opened in 2023, although there's a lot more to explore on its expansive and prolific menu. On this visit, we tried a Tuna Poke Bowl, a Salmon Pome Bowl, a Katsu Ramen, a Mango Salad, and a Mochi desert. Regarding the Tuna Poke Bowl, Ochi took the liberty of substituting more expensive fatty tuna (Toro), for regular tuna (Maguro), a generous and appreciated gift as a thanks for dining on a very slow night due to the storm. Hence, I would recommend everything we tried: the Mango Salad, any of the Sushi, Sashimi and Maki choices, the Poke bowls and Ramen (especially the Spicy Miso Ramen, the chicken Katsu Ramen, and any of the traditional pork or beef Ramen choices). After a few minutes I attempted to get her attention, without success. I saw she was deeply swiping her smartphone. Even as another party entered, she seemed glued to her phone. Eventually, she took my order robotically. The salad was iceberg lettuce with one slice if cucumber, and one cherry tomato. It was clear that it had been thrown together, as the dressing (which was good, BTW) was clumped in a couple of dense spoonfuls, on top if the copious water that had not been dried from the lettuce. About 10-15 minutes later, my ramen was presented in its lukewarm majesty. To me, the four primary keys to good Japanese restaurants are in the care, freshness, preparation and presentation. I found that Tama Japanese Ramen was lacking on all four considerations. Given that they have very little competition in the area, and the food itself was disappointing but not awful, it's clear that the management at Tama needs to devise a better strategy.

The food is consistently delicious and the hibachi chefs usually put on a wonderful and entertaining show. Unfortunately, the wait staff can sometimes be less than pleasant, although we were fortunate to have a great male waiter that evening and our chef was entertaining as well. Our waiter was doing his best, but he was busy attending to the other tables. At one point we had dirty soup and salad bowls sitting on our table and there was simply no room left for them. We tried to hand them to one of the female waitstaff members who was nearby, thinking it would be a simple and reasonable request. To our surprise, she flat out refused to take them and told us that we needed to wait for our waiter. Given that the restaurant was busy, this came across as unnecessarily unhelpful and added to our frustration with the service. Things were going very well until around 8:30 PM. We were seated in the back section with several other families and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Then a very large group of young adults arrived, apparently celebrating some type of event. They came in with oversized speakers and began playing very loud music, parading and dancing around the restaurant and generally taking over the atmosphere. What was especially disappointing was that the restaurant staff did not appear to do anything to address the situation. The noise and disruption became so excessive that it completely changed the experience for everyone seated in the back section. Families who had been enjoying their dinners began leaving, including my family. What should have been a relaxing Friday night dinner turned into an extremely loud and uncomfortable experience. I want to emphasize that we have enjoyed Masa Hibachi many times in the past. The food is good, the hibachi chefs are entertaining and when the atmosphere is under control, it can be a great place for a family dinner, etc. Unfortunately, the lack of intervention that night, combined with some of the service issues, really hurt the experience. If you're looking for a quiet or relaxing family dinner, I would strongly recommend avoiding Masa on Friday or Saturday nights, especially later in the evening. Based on our experience, it can turn into a madhouse and the restaurant should do a better job of making sure one large group doesn't ruin the experience for everyone else.
