This has been our go-to restaurant for tasty, reasonably priced Chinese food for about 18 years. Yes, they offer "americanized" food, but for this category of food, I'd rate it as A-. Way above average. We end up there about every other week, and often bring friends who are not up for the more authentic fare. (For that, our local favorites are Szechuan Gourmet and Red Pepper, both on Route 9 westbound in Framingham.) The lunch and dinner buffets are a very good value at about $8 and $16 respectively. The dinner buffet offers exceptional garlic shrimp and several other seafood dishes; at lunch, the Cantonese-style egg foo yong is a favorite; at both, the standard appetizers are plentiful, and there are always chicken, beef and vegetarian dishes to choose from. From the menu, our favorites include: spicy minced chicken in lettuce pockets; crispy fish fillets with pea pods; orange flavored beef; crispy imperial pork; szechuan spiced beef (kung pao beef); egg flower soup; and cold sesame noodles. The bar area is busy on Thurs-Fri-Sat nights, but a door minimizes the noise impact on the dining area. Their Mai Tai recipe is my current favorite, and at $5.50 it is less expensive than most other nearby mixed drinks. Amy and her crew are friendly and accommodating, and the reliably good food makes Cherry Blossom one of our preferred dining destinations -- and that's saying a lot, with so many local restaurants to choose from! read more

Just returned from cherry blossom with a full belly and still money in wallet. Calamari app was very tender which can be easy to over cook. Had a pu pu platter for two With side of shrimp fried rice. All items seamed very fresh with individual flavor not like some places where it all tastes the same. Server was very pleasant, eating area looked well kept and clean. Prices were reasonable.. The short: Yuck. Food was bad, service was worse. Food: I had cold sesame noodles for an appetizer. They were not spicy at all, as they were listed, and the sauce tasted like bland peanut butter. My tofu was fried, but it was soft and fell apart and was bland. None of the other four people in my party enjoyed their meals either, all of whom ordered chicken dishes. Indeed, "yuck" is actually a direct quote from my sister. Service: First, they sat us at a table near several screaming children. Not a big deal, but my dad asked to move and they moved us. It was all downhill from there. We had to wait a long time to order, a long time to get our food, and the waitress would disappear for long intervals and we had to chase her down whenever we wanted something, and she never once asked how our food was. Great hot and sour soup if you like it spicy! They had s solid buffet. I was shocked they did have orange chicken as an option. Overall good value and price. If I ever go back to Ashland i will go again. They kept my water filled thats for sure. read more

Cherry Blossom is our go-to for Chinese food since moving to Ashland. We've dined in a few times and have ordered take-out a bunch too. The food is always hot and seems to be pretty fresh and they've never messed up a take-out order. The drinks when dining in are usually really good and strong. The lounge is super casual and they have Keno, while the dining room is quiet, albeit a bit outdated. The prices are a bit steep, especially since they don't offer all-day combination specials like they do at lunchtime. My husband and I have different taste in Chinese food and we always end up compromising since we'd spend too much and have way too much food if we both got what we wanted. We'd love for them to offer an entrée with rice or lo-mein and a choice of two appetizers and would even be willing to pay a bit more than the lunch prices. Used to go to the Cherry Blossom on a regular basis when I worked in Ashland and the food was the best ever. Very disappointed on a return after several years. Ordered the Seafood Fantasia and it was definitely not as described. Was listed as hot and spicy garlic sauce with scallops, shrimp and sole. Came to the table bland without a single hint of sole in the dish and a few thinly sliced scallop pieces. While they did try to remedy promptly the dish came back with a mildly spicy sauce that had not a hint of garlic and still no fish. My husbands dish Mongolian Beef was blah as well several tough strips on fried beef and just a few pieces of celery for vegetable. Boring and one single taste with that he was quick to tire of. The vegetable beef soup was still the same delicious appetizer as I remembered and the egg rolls were pretty good. Still, hoping it was an off night or maybe a new chef who doesnt know what the menu says because it would be a shame to see that the restaurant has decidedly gone downhill. Will go back for another try if we are in the area, but we won't go out of our way for some great Chinese food as we did last night. read more

Buffet was poor today. The food was stale and dried out. We arrived at 7:30pm and were told we were the only ones eating, which is why the food in the buffet was stale. They did offer to make fresh food after we complained but we'd already lost our appetites by then having eaten some of the stale stuff. Update: I complained again when paying and they knocked the price down by half which was nice so I'm adding a second star for that. On the other hand, they told me I should have known the buffet starts at 5pm and would be stale by 7:30pm which I don't agree with. They're the ones who should know that. They're nice people and they did say when we came in that they would cook more of anything that was empty. But the problem was not that it was empty. It was that it was stale and dry. read more

My family has been ordering from here for a good 10 years. It's solid greasy Chinese food. However, it seems to be getting greasier and has gone down a bit lately. Great pork fried rice, crab Rangoon, veg delight, egg foo young. Not a fan of the general gaus or orange chicken - it's very gummy! read more

Not what it used to be. I've been going here since the owners relocated from Natick many years ago. It was the best Chinese food in the area until about a year or so ago. I don't know if the cooks are different but the food isn't the same, it's very disappointing! They do still have the best Hot n' Sour soup around although even this has been hit or miss of late. The inside has deteriorated as well and although it was never fine dining, it is now pretty gross if you look at the dirty walls and carpet - doesn't help the appetite! The owner and staff have always been great but everything else has gone downhill to the point that I don't think I can give it another chance. Once the place I would tell people about is now a place I would say to avoid. I can only hope that they do a restaurant makeover and bring back the quality food! read more

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The staff is attentive and friendly and the food is well-prepared. Someone else said it's not authentic Chinese food and that's correct. But that's not what the market generally wants. I enjoy the authentic cuisine but also like the Americanized version, which they prepare very, very well. My boyfriend and I had been getting take-out from this place since it is within walking distance of our house. The price of take-out for the both of us is roughly $20 including the tip. Thinking that is pretty cheap, we decided to try their buffet. The lady at the front desk is always a kind woman. After experiencing her, we grab plates for the buffet only to find out there were very few options. No chicken, the fish covered in sauce was odd and tasted like old fish covered in bbq sauce, and the rice was stickingto the bottom of the pan. My boyfriend wasn't going to get the buffet so he got the sesame chicken plate, which he thought was great. The waiter didn't have good customer service, he forgot my boyfriend's cola, and didn't even bother giving us refills. When we got the check, it seemed very high. $16-something for one buffet? NO WAY! Sadly, that's what it was. $16 for 8 food options and no refills. $1.85 for one drink. A man came into the place to get the buffet and the woman at the front told him to hurry because they wanted to close the buffet down in 45 minutes. That's not how you talk to customers and definitely not how you run a business. Unfortunately because of this visit, we will not be eating here again. We spend less money for better food in Chinatown. read more

This place is Gross, my friend and went this past Sunday and had Severe Stomach Problems late Monday and Early Tuesday. I do not know what is was but it was from the Rotten Food at this place, I will Never go again. The Service was Horrible and the staff did not care about anything except the Patriots Game. The Board of Health in the town of Ashland should be Notified and they should inspect the Kitchen. read more

Food is okay service is horrible! They never come to your table to refill drinks they don't check in on you to see how everything is going. When you getting your food at the buffet they will cut you off to get a take out order so your standing there and your food is getting cold. They are very rude and not pleasant they ask for you for a tip and tell you what they want for a tip! Why tip them if they are not doing anything for you! We will never go here again! They don't wear hairnets or gloves to get take out orders one of the keys from the front desk while getting a tank out order over the food was scratching her hair which is disgusting. We walked right out! I would drive for better food this place is going down hill no one even came to our table to talk to our party to ask anything they avoided us the whole time. read more

CAN'T BE BEAT! I have been dining at this restaurant since I was a little girl. I have dined at numerous other Chinese food restaurants in Boston and in the Metro West area, and I have yet to find another restaurant that comes close in consistent quality. I needed to kill some time and thought I would give this place another try. This was my 3rd and last trip to this place, which, over 20 years ago, was the place to go in the area, not any more. I arrived at opening, 11:30am on the dot. Every item on the buffet was ice cold. The management's solution??? Next trip, dig down to the bottom of the tray. Might work for rice or lo mein but not for the rest of the buffet. The wrappers on the egg rolls were so well done and dark, they were almost burnt, but cold, just the same. The crab rangoons were just rangoons, not an ounce of crab in sight or taste. The Chicken wings were over done and dry, the boneless spare ribs were more like bones, or leather. The noodle baskets of the steamed Shu Mai were so dried out, all four contained in the metal ring in which they were served, were stuck together and insisted on remaining that way even on the plate. And the soy sauce I am used to dipping these dim sum items in, spiced at most places, was just soy and tasteless. The duck sauce was so cold, it was as if it came right from the freezer. The only thing that was hot was the tea but the tea cup was chipped. The shrimp toast was pathetic as were the scallion pancakes. All for $8.50 incl tax. But why???? When a short drive to the Marlboro Super Buffet on Rte 20 just down the street a bit from Home Depot, Target and adjacent to Staples offers several tables of HOT, delicious food, including sushi, Mongolian grill, salads, abundant desserts including ice cream, every popular dim sum and appetizer one could want, including several different pot stickers, shu mai, sweet and sour chicken, fabulous shrimp, all kinds of pork, beef and chicken main course dishes, all for $9.21 incl tax.
