Crispy fried duck

Excellent crispy duck, worth stopping by. First time . . . I'll be back . . . Next time, Beijing duck (needs 24 hr notice).

My parents chose to come here and they don't look at Yelp reviews much, so I was a little nervous when everyone we saw eating here was not asian, and the menus were in English. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service here and we enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered. The fried rice was good, so were the scallops and the veggie dish with pea pods. The Kung pao chicken was okay, though the flavor was not your standard slightly spicy kung pao. The ma po tofu was the one dish everyone disliked (I did not try it though so can't really judge). The real surprise was that Peking duck was on the menu. The duck was a little dry but tasted good! We do wish the wraps were thinner and smaller and that they had better garnishes like cucumbers and more green scallions, but honestly I was not expecting much. I haven't had Peking duck in quite a while and it was enjoyable. They even obliged when my parents asked for the duck bones to take home so they could make soup with them. The ambience of the restaurant is more upscale than most Chinese places, and we had a semi private room. Our server was gracious and explained to my parents what to get or avoid on the menu in terms of authenticity.

Takeout joint only. Zero seating. Reasonable prices. Combos all day. Nice takeout packaging (black…read moremicrowaveable plastic with clear plastic tops). The food is just barely okay, but I'd say adequate for a quick takeout situation. -- Egg Roll: Crisp, cabbagey, with lesser bits of celery. Surprisingly pink inside, but not sweet. Seasoned in a traditional way, but subdued. -- General Gao's Chicken: Big chunks, briefly crispy, sweet with no counterbalance, and a bit of extra sauce to lend the rice a hand. -- Pork Fried Rice: Bits of pork and only minimal flavor, but at least it was fresh. Bland and hot beats bland and tepid. A good amount of food for a decent price. No rival for better sit-down joints, but I'll take this place over the fast food chains, and it'll be a better value.

I'm not normally one for giving negative reviews, but I need to share. My lunch had absolutely NO…read moreflavor, the food was so bland and the duck sauce didn't have any flavor either! I ordered a combo of white rice, chicken wings (which are the largest chicken wings I've ever seen, beef teriyaki which were also large, boneless ribs (way over cooked and dried out) and an egg roll for my appetizer (part of the combo). My Coke (in a bottle) was even flat! There was a kid behind the counter (school holiday in honor of Veteran's Day), he was really rushing me to make a decision but I think mostly out of boredom. I read previous reviews about him and didn't experience what others wrote (at least not that I noticed or heard). I won't go back.
