What a gem this restaurant is! The food is absolutely delicious and genuinely tastes like a home cooked meal. I would recommend all dishes we ordered especially the scallion pancakes. We ordered the following: 1.) Chicken fried rice 2.) Glass noodles with chicken and veggies 3.) Egg noodle soup 4.) Gan Poong Gi Bab Everything was delicious and came with a variety of pickles. Had lunch here for the first time in two years when we arrived at noon, the place was empty which we thought strange after a while. Two couples came in to sit down and another man. The food is amazing huge portions and you get something like eight different small salads in the forms of kimchi, chopped zucchini, onions, bean, sprouts, and other vegetables usually with a pepper sauce I had Judge Bob, which was wonderful and not too spicy but just enough my wife had a seafood soup that was huge. Pretty much the only authentic Korean restaurant we can count on that is in this area. This place has great Korean Chinese cuisine, but sometimes when we order something other than our usuals (regular jajangmyun, jambong, or ganpoonggi) it's not that good/as authentic, so we are hesitant to branch out from the basics. You also have to specify for the ganpoongi to be spicy, which is apparently strange according to my husband, who is Korean. This is not the best Korean Chinese cuisine we've had, but it's definitely good, and we are used to the really good places in NJ. This place is small and cozy, the service is friendly, and I only wish they delivered. Now that a bbq chicken has opened locally, all we need is a good kbbq spot and a place with gukbap in the area and we'll be set! read more

Legit Korean food outside of Brighton. Was skeptical at first as prices are ridiculously high (maybe no competition) but food came out to be flavorful and delicious. The kimchi jigae order was bland so I would spice it up. All entrees came with a bowl of rice. One of the banchan I would love them to refill - looks like kimchi but with a tangy taste. I used to like this restaurant, but not anymore. The atmosphere is super rude and unwelcoming, and the owner had a really strong attitude. He didn't greet people when we walked in, and when my friend said we have a reservation he used his chin to point out our table, are you kidding ? Then we ordered 3 meals, two came with rice, but each rice bowl had a black hair inside! We pointed it to the owner and he didn't say a single word, just took away! No Sorry, No apology from the owner about this, or the staff! When I brought food back to my daughter, she found that her bowl of rice had hair in it too. Unbelievable! What are the chances??? 33 years ago this place was one of the only Korean place that was decent in Boston area. I endured long car rides to have a bowl of spicy noodles and taste of the home country. Now there are so many other options nearby and the place doesn't stand out as much but it's still good. Thankful for all the memories. It looks like the place hasnt changed much. Seems like the same sign. Seats are different. There used to be no chair seating area in front of restrooms but no more. The price is kind of high now. $21 for the noodles and $17.50 for fried rice. However my daughter and I had our fill of great food and also hd some leftover. Service was quick and servers attentive. I saw bunch of fancy out of state cars parked outside. I was here before covid started. The food was good. We came back on a Thursday at 7pm. Order a Bibimbap and a spicy pork soup . Both items were underwhelming. The pork soup was so watery and bland. The Bibimbap lack in portion and taste. The waitress as if I wanted my egg drop soup that came with the Bibimbap. If I did they would have to make it. I don't understand why you ask if I want something that came with it just cause you didn't want to make it. Anyways, we had them pack the spicy pork soup which lack the portion that we gave them. This is probably the only Korean restaurant around the area but it's one of the best that I've tried around the U.S. Since I'm here on business working I decided to give this place a try and boy was I not disappointed. Don't let the exterior fool you, yes it's not the prettiest establishment but the food will make you want to return. The business is run by a Korean family and they do a great job! WARNING- come early for lunch because this place will get packed! Now lets talk about the food... Spicy chicken with fried rice- DELISH! The sauce that's on the chicken isn't spicy at all but its still a great flavor. The fried rice is really good and the lunch special price will make your wallet even happier lol. Came here for dinner one night by myself and once for lunch with coworkers. The banchan or side dishes was pretty fresh and tasty. I almost finished all of them. Different types of kimchi was served on the sweet and fresh versus sour and tangy which I like best. I was also intrigued by the hot tea that was served -- apparently a Thai tea -- which was nice. Ool-myun - It comes in a big hot bowl almost too much to eat in one sitting. Perfect for a frigid winter day. It's usually chock full of seafood, but to my surprise, there were strips of pork as well, which was a first for me. I'm guessing a cheaper form of protein. Gan-poong-gi bap - Very different than I'm used to, definitely not the typical recipe. The battered chicken pieces was alright, but the sweet sauce was very different, not bad, just different. Kimbap - In my opinion was a thumbs down. At $8 per roll, It's expensive even for city prices, and not really well made. Seemed to have more rice than veggie/meat filling. Huge fan of their Luncheon Specials. Coworkers and I love this place. The positivity of this review is mostly focused on their incredible (L1) Bulgo Gi and (L3) Bi Bim Bab dishes. When my company orders about 15 entrees at a time, just about everyone orders the Bi Bim Bab and it's easy to understand why. The quality of their bulgogi is outstanding. It's packed with flavor and easily the highlight of their menu. The L1 is meat and rice, whereas L3 is less meat, rice, and vegetables. On top of their great dishes, each entree includes sauce containers containing their kimchi cabbage, cucumbers, radish, and bean sprouts. Honestly, even the bulgogi wasn't great, their kimchi more than makes up for their food. It has a great flavor, and despite looking molten red, it actually isn't spicy at all so it's an easy recommendation for anyone who's always wanted to try kimchi but are hesitant about spicy foods. Once you start ordering even a few entrees at a time, the bags really pile up with a bunch of kimchi containers. I prefaced the review by mentioning only the L1 and L3 because I've tried several of their other items and they just don't compare to the flavors of the latter. Specifically the (L14) La Jo Gi Bab (spicy battered chicken) and (L17) O Jing Uh Bok Um (spicy squid) leave a lot to be desired. There's a little heat to them, but I feel like I don't taste anything except for whatever oils they're cooked in. Which is a shame because visually it looks like they'd pack a punch. I ordered the beef dumplings (5 was plenty for two people) and had the jam bong, a spicy pork broth soup with house made noodles, pork, and seafood. It was exactly what I needed on a winter evening. For my spice level, it was flavorful but not overly spicy. The beef dumplings were fried and were delicious. My parter ordered the Korean ribs and they were awesome! Now 9yrs in the rear view, it is clear this is the Mecca of all Korean food so I must increase its rating to the ultra 5star score. I'd go to 6stars if it let me. And it just goes to show, stick with people that are more interested in the quality of preparing the dish, then their appearance. Ambiance is like the body of a sexy muscle car, it only goes so far if you have a tinker toy engine under the hood. But Woo Jung needs no alluring setting or fancy marble counter or some thousand dollar chandelier because it's food stands alone. It's that good. The perfect place to stop for a bite between Boston and Stowe-adjacent Vermont. Service is attentive and friendly, menu is surprisingly large, and everything was scrumptious, just what we were looking for to break up a long drive in the cold. The ban Chan starters included a bunch of classics: sesame oil bean sprouts, spicy cucumbers, Kim chi cabbage, Kim chi radish, and a few others I can't now recall. But I remember being quite happy. The veggie pancake was cut into fist sized chunks, so much easier to eat than the usual wedges, and it was crispier than usual and just delightful and packed full of tasty green onions. My table was passive aggressively fighting over the last few wedges. The ja jeong (spicy black bean sauce, chopped onions, small chunks of pork) noodles with long thick rice noodles were well done and always such a classic. They'll bring you scissors to cut the long noodles. I really enjoyed the spicy seafood tofu soup. It was nicely flavored, warming, chock full of veggies, nicely spicy, with perfectly cooked rice. There's no Korean BBQ here, but the rest of the classics are well represented. Don't miss the kimchi pancake, which I can't get enough of. Noodle dishes are solid. Kalbi could be a tad more tender, but close enough. Fantastic accoutrements, including two kinds of kimchi. Who would have thought you'd be able to find tasty Korean food in Ayer, MA? I'm so happy my friend introduced me to this place. I'm actually salivating thinking about my favorites: delicious Beef Bulgogi and crispy scallion pancakes paired with their kimchi sides to share with friends or family. I have been here a few times and I've also tried the Bibimbap, Kimchi scallion pancakes (I actually prefer the regular ones) and fried rice dishes which were also yummy especially with the Gochujang (sweet/spicy ketchup). I've usually also had enough left over to save for another meal. Service and food were served very promptly so we weren't waiting long! The only thing is I wish it was closer so I could come here more often! read more
