Legit Korean food outside of Brighton. Was skeptical at first as prices are ridiculously high (maybe no competition) but food came out to be flavorful and delicious. The kimchi jigae order was bland so I would spice it up. All entrees came with a bowl of rice. One of the banchan I would love them to refill - looks like kimchi but with a tangy taste. I would love to see that on appetizer menu. Free parking.

This is AFTER I finished, I got 3 meals and a snack out of the appetizers.

My go to for fresh Korean Food. I will no longer eat cheap Chinese food! Bimbap #23, no rice is my favorite dish. Spicy kimchee to go. BYOB

Woo Jung has been in Ayer 33 years and there is a reason for it. Quality and good service. I remember this place went stationed on Devens in the 90s and it's still good food. It's a simple low frills decor on the inside but comfortable. Very clean and tidy. I like the intro of scissors to cut the long noodles.

I love the japchae/fried rice combo, the kimbap, kimchi pancakes and the pickled cucumbers! Recently tried the bimbipbap. SO GOOD! Service is always friendly and timely. Overall chill ambiance, for a casual lunch.

33 years ago this place was one of the only Korean place that was decent in Boston area. I endured long car rides to have a bowl of spicy noodles and taste of the home country. Now there are so many other options nearby and the place doesn't stand out as much but it's still good. Thankful for all the memories. It looks like the place hasnt changed much. Seems like the same sign. Seats are different. There used to be no chair seating area in front of restrooms but no more. The price is kind of high now. $21 for the noodles and $17.50 for fried rice. However my daughter and I had our fill of great food and also hd some leftover. Service was quick and servers attentive. I saw bunch of fancy out of state cars parked outside. Maybe people like me visiting the old memories. Thank you for keep going.

Very modest dining room as others have noted, the food is the star of this operation. You must try it for yourself!!!

Approachable menu with as much fusion as authentic Korean. -- Chicken Wings: Jumbo wings with extra crispness and an inner texture varying between sufficiently moist and gushingly juicy, depending on the piece. Always liked them, and I tried twice more recently with similar positive results. Excellent flavor in both the Soy Garlic and the Sweet and Spicy Gochujang. Superb, and with no price hikes in at least five years, now an excellent value too. -- Kimchi Pancake: Crispy on the edges and fluffier inside, with kimchi adding some crunch and nice flavor to go with the starch. Thin dark sauce to complement it. I think of it as a Korean cross between scallion pancake and egg foo yong. Good for sharing. -- Seafood Jampong: A large bowl of seafood stew with a red broth that has some creaminess as well as spice. Nice texture and chock full of large mussels, scallops, shrimp (gigantic Gulf shrimp as well as baby shrimp), Asian squid, and noodles. The squid was a little chewy, but everything else was cooked beautifully. This dish satisfied both in the restaurant and as leftovers the next day. Good choice for family meal, date meal, or chowing with the buds meal.

Decent atmosphere (more…read morebistro yearnings than a "joint"), friendly service, and just-okay food if not getting sushi. First visit in a few years: -- Salt and Pepper Wings: Small, fried, seasoned, and unsauced, with jalapeños and such for assistance. Decent tenderness and moistness, but light on flavor without the jalapeño and a little bland despite the name. -- General Tso Wings: One fewer wing, but much larger ones, with a sweet, thick sauce, good crunch, and decent moisture underneath. No heat to counter the sweet, but that's the case for most General Gao or Tso these days. Still very solid. -- Teriyaki Salmon: Lunch special with choice of salad or soup, choice of Rangoons or gyoza, and choice of white or fried rice. The salmon itself was sensible of size, but dry inside and topped with a gloppy sweet sauce that helped the dryness but not the cause. The gyoza were small and most likely frozen. Overall, seems like going to an Olive Garden that happens to be serving Asian cuisine. I've been a few times before, with similar thoughts (and half the coworkers I've gone with agree, and half love it). Pleasant enough, and easy street parking, but I don't see myself rushing back. Maybe sushi is the way to go.

Have tried many of the Korean restaurants in Allston and this, K Restaurant, seems to outrank them all! As for service -- indeed you pay first, but was a bit confused about the server/front desk who pretty much tell you to order before seated (choosing your own table), take your order, serve you with all the food, etc -- literally she handles all the customer service stuff -- wondering why she did not appear at pleasant or smile at all. Don't get me wrong, fully aware of wide range of personalities -- some appear more excited and enthusiastic than others others -- even without the the usual tipping at the end, and especially with the tipping at the end. Here, of course you pay -- and finalize your tip or no time before being served with your food, but still the server did not appear to greet or show those standard pleasantries expected all common in America ... She wasn't rude or anything. It just seems like she's not happy being there. Any event, just some thoughts here. Would definitely be back. And do recommend this place to others who want delicious meal but just note the above.

It's relatively small (only about ten seats) and at the time, only two people were working. It took a little bit for the food to come out (my dad was able to go order a coffee at Coffee Break Cafe next door and bring it back before our orders came out) but the portions were perfect for our lunch and my dad really enjoyed his! The noodles are dropped off on the bar for you to pick up and you grab your own chopsticks as well. We ordered the Chili Ramen (tonkotsu with chili oil on top) and the Shoyu Ramen, both with pork as the protein. The cook on the egg was great (nice and gooey in the center and the white was nice and soft) but it was a little cold and lacked flavor (could've been marinated for longer?). The pork was a nice cut of meat but despite being blowtorched it was a little chewy and lacked a bit of flavor also. The lack of marination on these toppings was helped by the fact that the broth was great and flavorful and if you ate them with the broth and noodles, it was satisfying! I think the broth was the best part; I tried both of them and enjoyed drinking the broth by itself even without eating the noodles with it. Overall, I thought the ramen was OK (the soup was the best part!) but for the price and portion I think this is a nice place to stop by for lunch! My dad enjoyed it a lot and was impressed by the authenticity for an American establishment.

The food came out hot and fresh with crisp veggies a perfectly fried egg and perfectly cooked rice. The spice was on the side to add to my liking and everything blended together really well. I think this is a secret star of a place and disagree with the comments that the woman here was unkind, I think you can tell by the food itself she cares about quality and taste.
