My first time to this spot and having Thai food. I ordered the Spicy Pad Thai for my meal with a Thai tea. The tea was pretty good, sweet and taste like orange sherbet. The entree was good as well, tasty noodles with chicken, vegetables, and a spicy sauce. It was a pretty good meal. The service was good, took a it but it was cooked to order so expected. We will Never go back!!!! We were charged for 3 dinners when we ordered 2 and then when I brought it to their attention, they gave me the wrong change to add insult to injury to their advantage. Will never go back. They gave me the wrong food to take home. Drove all the way home, figured out i was given the wrong food, came back and i was handed my correct food after giving back the wrong order. That means they are just going to give the food that drove home and back with me to the other person. At least let me keep it for my extra half hour of driving. Takeout from the Thai Place in the time of covid.... We had, golden cups, Ginger Duck, Pad Thai, panang curry with chicken, and crab rangoons. Golden cups are and interesting combination of crunchy little batter cups, a corn/ground chicken/spice blend, and a sweet sauce that you assemble yourself. I've had a very similar appetizer in Thailand called ka tong tongs. Super good, with sweet, savory, and sour notes. The pad thai has mixed seafood and chicken, rice noodles, and peanuts. Classic dish that's done very well in my humble opinion. The panang curry has a low heat, with lots of chicken, green beans, and carrots. Super nice, I personally like the sauce spooned over rice. I personally liked the ginger duck very much. I did feel like that the duck was a bit overcooked, but it is takeout so I get it. The crab rangoons were super crunchy and nice with a sweet duck sauce type dipping sauce. They are a upright type with a similar shape to shumai as opposed to the pierogi shape found in a lot of places. Great spot and I look forward to going back. read more

This was some of the oddest food. The pineapple fried rice has tomato in it, the bbq pork was definitely chicken and the beef pho is chicken broth with cinnamon. Most off putting of all, the beef for the pho was par cooked- placed hot into the to go box, on top of the bean sprouts and topped with canned fried onions and no basil or spice at all. We had food safety concerns when we realized it was half raw, but still hot, beef pieces on top of cold bean sprouts. Let me start by saying that the friendliness of the owner is 5 stars! However...there were far too many problems with the food. Let's start with the rice... it had obviously been placed in the bowl quite a while before serving, so there was a bit of a hard crust over the dome of the rice scoop--ugh. No rice-centric cuisine should ever be serving rice like this. Horrible and embarrassing! Next let's discuss the chicken that was in our Pad See Eaw. It was not stir fried from fresh raw chicken but was a pre-cooked breast that was sliced and added to the dish. Dry tasteless chicken. The sauce was way sweeter than any Pad See Eaw we have ever had--and it's a dish we order everywhere! It was also visually unappealing as it clung to the canned baby corn ears--so thick they looked like furry hot dogs. We were only able to eat the noodles and the broccoli... The other dish we had was the Soft shell Crab Ginger. I was excited about this because it is soft shell crab season right now. The menu described it as "Softshell crab lightly floured and fried until crisp"--HOWEVER... it was batter-dipped and deep fried, more like a greasy tempura. It had some flavor, but on the whole, extremely disappointing and a waste of good crabs (not to mention good money!) Obviously we were really sad when we left the restaurant. They had one server who was just being trained and so service was also very slow, but I don't fault her--she needed help on the floor! Two days later we needed Thai food redemption and went for an amazing lunch at The Taste Thai in Amherst which has epic flavor and freshness! If you are craving flavorful Thai food in The Valley, I implore you to choose that place instead! read more

*Actually 3 1/2 stars* I've recently moved from Boston to Amherst and it has been hard finding a decent Thai restaurant out here, but Thai Place passed the test! The pad Thai looks like it would be bland, but was actually very flavorful and authentic. I am personally not a fan of peanuts, so I appreciated the minimal garnishing of ground peanuts. Both shrimp and chicken come with the dish, but the chicken was very very dry. The pad see you was very flavorful as well, but was more vegetables than noodles, and the portion looked much smaller compared to the pad Thai. The tom yum chicken soup tasted more like tomatoes and ketchup than anything else - definitely wouldn't reorder. Overall a great meal, as authentic Asian food is hard to find. They also give you real chili paste as opposed to sriracha Update to 5 stars: their Thai ice tea is amazing, definitely a must try!! I've come back twice since my initial visit as the food keeps getting better and better. It's definitely one of the more authentic Thai places out here in my opinion. I wish I lived closer to this Authentic Thai place. It's even better than the authentic ones I've tried in Boston. I had the pad thai and pad kee mao. They were both stir-fried to perfection. They were flavorful and had a lot of gravy on the bottom which is a huge plus. I hate when the noodle dishes are too dry, but this one exceeded my expectation. I've tried a lot of Thai places and hands down Thai Palace is my favorite place to get Pad Thai. I don't come to this part of MA often, but when I do I will always pay a visit to here. Other dishes I always get are the tom kha, tom yum soup, soft shell crab, tamarind duck, and of course the mango sticky rice. Sooooo the waitress was exceptional and her drink recommendations. The appetizers were good. The rolls were yummy. Then came the food. Pad Thai had a weird smell and was soupy. I had a recommendation of shrimp curry and it was disgusting. Veggies were crinkle cut out a bag and hard. Another dish was soupy, shrimp/ veggies and curry soup. Last dish was cashew chicken was nasty. The chicken was good but the rest of the dish was full of a weird soupy substance and crunchy veggies. I've been eating here for at least 13 years. My family loves this place - the service is great and I never had a bad meal. The soups are tasty and my favorite meal is the Duck Choo Chee, my wife loves the Hot Basil Noodle, and my kids will order a number of things - Pork and Peppercorn, Chicken and Snowpeas are the go to for them though. It is not authentic thai food. The papaya salad was in creamy sauce and the Tom yum soup didn't taste right. I can't believe the pad thai noodle was too "wet" too.
