This is an incredible place. My daughter, who has been a regular customer at Pita Pockets for years, took us to her favorite eatery in Amherst. It did not disappoint. Our family enjoyed the best falafel pita pocket and lamb pita pocket in our lives. The portions were also generous. But more importantly- the service stood out the most. We arrived late am- about 10 mins - after the place closed. The owner saw my daughter, who is graduating this weekend from Hampshire, and without us asking welcomed us and said let me make you a falafel pita pocket! He quickly pulled his food out and served us. While preparing the pockets he joyfully talked to us and let us stay As long as we wanted. What a memory. Great food, service and pure love. We Are from Alabama (traveled all day getting to Mass). I got to say - thank you Pita Pockets! You are 5 stars! read more

Best gyro I've ever had, happiest owner I've ever met and I can see why. Plenty to be proud of. Excellent value and exceptional food. Going to be hard to beat as my "best bite of 2026" easy 5 stars. Will be back. read more

The owner alone is a reason to go here. He shows hospitality that I feel has slowly faded away in most businesses unfortunately. He always has smile and a welcomes you in the restaurant. Sometimes he will give you fresh falafel while your waiting for your order. He has always been generous and gives great recommendations. Now the food: well its just absolutely amazing. I have tried to whole menu at this point and can confidently say its ALL amazing food. I highly recommended the falafel, jedra rice, hummus and babaganoush. Cant forget about the desserts. We come once a week just for the different Baklavas. Great food, amazing service, phenomenal owner. Keep up the amazing work! read more

Pita Pockets is a family business. They are making gyros, pitas, and sandwiches all day. They have a comfy dine-in section, and greet you as you come in. Don't be surprised if there's a line, because that's the one thing they power through first. I'm used to seeing just the proprietor, but often I'll meet his staff who I find friendly, skilled, and diligent to their stations. I would love to say more but the proprietor is so humble that I don't know his name yet, just that Pita Pockets consistently cooks good food. Apparently, their Turbo pocket is original, and could be a good journalism scoop. Otherwise, they'd need food carts outside to keep up with much more traffic. Maybe someday there's a Turbo Trust passing down the restaurant? :) read more

I love this place so much! The food is consistently delicious and made right in front of you by the employees. It is a family business and I feel like part of the family when I am there, because everyone is so kind and there is always sports of some kind playing that the people waiting will comment on. My favorites are the grape leaves and falafel wrap. A plus is how tasty the vegan options are! read more

A little off the beaten path - that is, on a side street off of Main - is this small unprepossessing eatery. But what a pleasant find! Terrific falafels, gyros, baba ganoush, hummus, kabobs, and more - all delicious and served in a friendly welcoming manner. The proprietors are Syrian and they give these popular dishes a different - but good! - twist. For desserts, they have baklava of course, but also try their Syrian harissa (yes, harissa - not the chili paste, but in Syria it's the name of a semolina and rose water-scented syrup dessert). I had their gyro plate and it was very tasty; my wife's falafel pita wrap was equally good - nice fluffy and crisp falafels and a smoky baba ganoush; and my daughter really enjoyed the chicken kabob wrap. We'll definitely be back! read more

Amazing food. The owner was really kind and talkative. Got a surprise (he picked) and it was amazing. Would 100% go back.

This is the best place for a quick, tasty bite! My all-time favorite is the falafel pocket with everything on it, accompanied by a side of grape leaves. The veggies are fresh and delightful! The owners are wonderful people who will remember you through the years. I also love the way they twist up the pita so you can eat it while walking. I can't tell you how much I love this place! read more

"HELLO MY FRIEND" the gentlemen greeted me with an exciting and welcoming tone. This was easily one of my favorite spots to eat at Amherst, with a short walk from campus. The food was priced right, the ingredients were freshly prepared, and every bite is packed with flavor. Coming to eat here was a little indulgent for me, so I made sure to treat myself. You cannot go wrong with the combo plate. With a few slices of bread, garlic sauce, hummus, and tzatziki, I cannot think of other enjoyable culinary experiences. I highly buy the $5 babaganoosh to have with your meal, and take the rest home with your left over bread pieces. BOMB.COM read more

We ordered takeout from here and I was disappointed. The chips and baba Gannouch were very good but the chicken kabob pita was bland and had little taste- more tzatziki and oregano needed. Did not care for the baklava and what is that 3rd thing in the box that is green? Wish they had pastries and moussaka or pastitsio but I guess with the name pocket it implies that although they do have platters and there should be an alternative for those of us that don't like lentils. It was ok.. Don't think I will return. read more

Love this place! Best customer service in the valley and the food is awesome. Wish we had more places like Pita Pockets.

Staff is so warm and friendly!! They treat everyone like family!! Plus the food is extremely flavorful and tasty!! This is one of favorite Halal places to eat in Amherst!! read more

Hole in the wall place in this nice little town. Should surely be a hit with the University crowd. Got the chicken and falafel plates, which were quite filling, and baklava, which seemed appropriately sweet and well flavored. The plates come with lentil rice, which is richer and adds a nice touch over plain rice. The chicken kabab was juicy and nicely charred without any stringy bits while the felafel, shaped like donuts, were crisp and fresh. All in all a reliable spot for a tasty and filling meal. read more

I've been going to Pita Pockets for years ever since they first opened. It's a really well run business, with really good food. The service is great, too. It's a small hole-in-the-wall place, but the vibes are nice. I've never had a bad meal there, and always leave feeling happy after interacting with the staff. read more

Great food. Nice service. Fairly clean dining room. The bathroom was out of service, which was kind of a nuisance when you have kids.

In addition to the super-delicious food, the service here is amazing. Case in point: I went in for my first time, ordered some food, and then two weeks later came back for my second time and he immediately says, "Hello my friend. Chicken pita, right?" I wanted to try something different, the combo plate. Third time I showed up he asked if I wanted to go back to the chicken pita or have the combo plate and then says, "No. Actually, can I recommend something for you instead?" . . . and based on what I had most liked the first two times he had me trying other new foods. Fantastic! read more

Great little place off the side of the street in Amherst! It smelled so good while we were waiting and by the time we got our food we were so hungry we didn't even think to take pics :). I got the Mediterranean plate, which was a Greek salad with falafel and stuffed grape leaves. My mom got the falafel wrap. It was all delicious!! The falafel were very crispy but still moist inside, and even though I had never had the grape leaves before i was very impressed! 10/10 Love the clear labeling of vegan options on the menu, and the prices were amazing too especially for the area and being in a college town. The workers were very nice efficient also, despite there being somewhat of a crowd waiting when we arrived we still got our order quickly :). read more

Our first time visiting Amherst so we looked for the best rated restaurants. Clearly Pita Pockets was #1 with five stars. We all ordered pockets with chicken or with falafel. We were even treated to some samples. Everything was cooked to order and paired with fresh ingredients. So good. So 5 stars. Will return. read more
