I live in Brattleboro, and it is worth the drive on a weeknight to eat at this wonderful restaurant. The food is probably the best Indian food I have had in this country, the prices are reasonable and the waiter seems like he might be the coolest guy in town. The Naans are cakey, crispy, light and the garlic naan will have you remembering it for days. Lately they've been making dishes requested as mild as spicy so not sure what's up there. It's inconsistent is the message you need. The food was excellent but the service and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired. The drink menu showed Chai. It was a cold and rainy day and we asked for Chai. The waiter said they didn't have any? WHAT INDIAN RESTAURANT DOESN" HAVE CHAI? He finally gave us some black tea but didn't have any milk. WHAT? Two other couples asked for Chai. They weren't even offered black tea. The waiter and a very obese man (chef?) were arguing constantly. And the obese man had a bandage on his hand and no glove while handling dishes and food. The health department wouldn't be pleased. It is dark, dingy, and had no charm and there was a sports show on the TV over the bar. Atmosphere is nothing like the photos. Flavors are incredible. I also didn't find the food to be overly salty. I mean, it's restaurant food so it's still saltier than prob most home made food but it wasn't so salty where all you taste is salt. The salt was just enough to bring the flavors out. It just so happened we traveled to this area to see about adopting a dog at New 2 You dog rescue. While we were mulling over the idea of expanding our family, we decided to think it over while having a lunch in town. That is how we found Namaste. Online, the items looked pretty promising, so we decided to give them a try. The waitress tried to steer us to the lunch buffet, but we wanted to order off the main menu which seemed to make her unhappy. We started with a soda and a cup of chai while we looked over the menu. We decided to try the Malai Kofta and the Veggie Tikka Masala, with a side of basmati rice and the seasonal special garlic chive naan. The food took a surprisingly long time to be made, and nobody came by with updated timelines or to explain why the wait was so lengthy. While we were there, there were only two other tables, so I know the wait wasn't because they were slammed with people. Once the food finally arrived, we were immediately disappointed. The curries were both tepid, and the flavors were flat and boring. There was no heat, no spice, no salt and overall no real flavor. The rice was fluffy, but that's the only positive about it, and the naan was very colorful, but was really lacking in texture. The chai however was pretty good, but how really can you mess up sweetened tea? If that wasn't the worst part, once we were on our way home, we both started feeling sick to our stomachs. It was a three hour car ride home to Aquidneck area, and we had to pull over multiple times because one or both of us felt like we were going to be rapidly ill. Definitely not the experience you want after eating a very underwhelming meal. Price was fine for the portion size, food was not good due to lacking flavor and spice, service was inattentive, and getting sick after eating was definitely a downside. Ambiance was fine, but nothing really that amazing, and parking was limited due to being on a thoroughfare and accessing it during the lunch rush was a bit of a headache. To be fair, I've not been here for anything but the lunch buffet... Which is really nice. I *LOVE* Indian buffets. Some are def better than others. (If you're looking for the best buffet, this isn't it.) But this is a solid buffet, and the staff is REALLY nice. One of my coworkers LOVES their Chicken Chili (which is a fantastic dish. I finally got to have some on Friday, as it was on the buffet.) He was so praiseful about it, that the restaurant brings him a plate of it every time he comes in, even if it's not on the buffet now. (The owner even texted him that it was on the buffet this Friday, but my coworker had taken the day off.) The space is nice. It's been an Indian restaurant in it's last couple incarnations. They have silverware, and table cloths. It feels like it would dress up nice for a dinner date situation. There is a bar, but it doesn't seem to get used much. (Certainly not during the lunch buffet.) The favors are good. The staff is very nice, and the space is well maintained, and clean. The buffet is a bit over $10, but it's kept well stocked and runs a good long while. (It's still kept up after 1:30, when another coworker and I usually go.) There is usually Naan, pakora, several vegetable dishes, chicken tiki masala, and tandoori chicken. The vegetable dishes rotate, and there is sometimes another meat. Sadly, the dessert is the place I would ding them the most. It's usually a small metal bowl of kheer in a bowl of ice. The last time it was somewhat congealed. I'm sure that I will be back here, many, many times. Oh, yes. They are closed on Mondays. Adjust your plans! read more

The food is always good at Namaste, however, the service was very weird today. I went with 3 others and we were seated (fortunately in front of a fan because it was really hot inside the restaurant). There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant. We sat and waited 20+ min to order food. The server kept telling us "on more second" and staples some menus to bags, packed a bag of food, and other tasks that should typically be prioritized AFTER serving the customers inside the restaurant. When he finally came over, he said "you ready?" And we said yes, then looked at each other to see who would go first. We sat silent for another 5 or so seconds before he said "I'm busy, are you ready or not?" In a very irritated tone. We all just looked at each other and then gave him our orders. It wasn't busy in there. There's wasn't a lot going on, but even if there was, he made us feel like we were an inconvenience for dining at the restaurant. It was very bizarre. Most restaurants treat guests who are actively in the restaurant as priority, not an inconvenience. Very uncomfortable. The rating is 3 star because the food is still really good. The dining choices are limited in Greenfield due to Covid. My colleague and I decided to try carry out from Namaste. We were impressed at the flavor and freshness of the food. The serving sizes allowed for a late night reheat and it was still very good. I'm pretty sure this would have been a 5 star rating if we were able to dine in straight from the kitchen, but I applaud the local business for being safe rather than sorry. I don't bother with reviews too often but this place is just plain phenomenal. Some of the best Indian cuisine we've had in a very long time. If you're thinking about this place, just go for it. For real. Manchurian Shrimp was off the charts tasty. Pakora were just popping. Vindaloo wasn't too spicy even though I ordered hot, but I expect you can simply ask for a bit more heat if you're into that. Chicken Tikka Masala was just heavenly. Saag paneer was spot on. I love that I can order my kiddos the Butter chicken with no heat, And order mine (whatever I choose on any given night) spiced up a bit more! Yummm! Really delicious! I always order the Paneer Tikka Masala (without bell peppers, which I recommend, because they have a really strong taste that takes over the masala). It's always flavorful, warm, and because I have only ordered delivery, timely! The naan is good, the mango lassi are delicious, the rice is flavorful and never crunchy or undercooked. I've heard some negative stuff by word of mouth about this place, but I think all restaurants have their hit or miss days. We cannot always expect perfection! I rarely ever write any review but this felt like a community service by warning people. First of all I am from SE Asia and grew up eating this food. Namaste is a shameful experience when it comes to living up to the true taste and flavors of Indian and Nepali dishes. I agree with one of the reviewer "leah" the dishes were tepid, and the flavors were flat and boring. There was no heat, no spice, no salt and overall no REAL flavor. The naan was the only thing decent rest of the food was complete travesty. The palak paneer was creamy but that is where the adjectives end. The gravy was creamy in terms of consistency but true aroma and taste not there. The palak flavor was not there, it felt like it was made beforehand and they just warmed it up and put it in a box. Daal Makhani was the worst! Felt like a mixed daal combination thrown together with salt and some random curry powder and then cooked until the daal became soft. Daal makahni is a dish that needs no others, it is a meal on its own when cooked properly. Truly sad. Chicken 65 felt like frozen nuggets being covered with sweet and sour curry sauce. Original chickens 65 is a dish where marinated chicken is deep fried and then the chicken is cooked again with a separate gravy but it still remains dry in nature and the fried curry leaves flavors are there. This is one of the signature dish and I always try to find places that would serve it!! THIS WAS NOT IT. I am a genuine foodie and have eaten cuisines from around the world. My roommates were from both India and Nepal, so I know the real taste. I also know how to cook curry dishes and I can tell when no effort was taken to prepare a meal and moreover the Oriental Label "Namaste" being used to deceive people who have never tried true Nepali and Indian dishes. If a restaurant truly is authentic and tries its best to serve what it promises then I praise it but this experience was so bad that I wanted to warn people before wasting their time and money. read more

It's important to note, as I do with any review of an Indian restaurant in Western Mass, that we do not make good Indian food around here. Most of the food served at other restaurants is pre-packaged fusion cuisine or just not like an auntie would make at all. This place is different. This is the turning tide of Indian food in Western Massachusetts. Let's start with the chai. Most places do a pretty okay rendition of chai - with all of the appropriate spices and flavors that one would expect. Namaste does you one better though. It's a real, cooked milk chai. You can taste that they heat the milk up with the chai and use fresh spices. The proof is in the delicate skin that forms on top if you wait too long for your drink to cool. Drink the skin- it's the best. The samosas are pretty standard samosas (that is to say, most places make good samosas anyway). The hara and imli chutney that comes with it is some of the best I've had, though. This makes the samosas fantastic. The Ragda Patti is something unique to Namaste (for now at least). It's kind of like a papdi chaat with some ingredient changes. FRESH chickpeas (not canned or dried) are served seasoned and cold with potato balls and a topping of imli chutney, raita, and sev (crunchy chickpea noodles). Throw on some tomatoes and onions and you have a hefty starter that isn't too overwhelming and won't ruin your meal. The chole bhatura was excellent. I typically don't finish my bhatura when I order this, but I did in this case. The chole was expertly seasoned without the random nuts, pomegranate seeds, or raisins of other restaurants around here. The chickpeas are fresh, just like the Ragda Patti. Rip off a piece of bhatura, put some chole on it, and if you're smart- you'll throw a bit of yogurt raita on there too. We also ordered shrimp Manchurian. There are not a lot of restaurants that offer Indo-Chinese food, so when you see it you have to snatch it up. The Manchurian sauce was spicy and perfect. We will probably try the chicken or veg next time. The gajar ki halwa (carrot halwa) was AMAZING. I've never seen a restaurant use fresh carrots like this without cooking them forever into a soggy puddle mixed with sugar. These fresh carrots were still firm and tasted like carrots. You could taste the cardamom pod, butter, and milk individually. Will definitely order this again. As for the service- there was a negative review recently. I don't think that it is accurate, and the writer should go back. Our waiter was attentive, and even offered us some samples so that we could determine what to order next time. He was talkative, but not overly so, and answered all of my oddly specific questions. Also the restaurant is CLEAN. Not to say other restaurants aren't...but after walking to the bathroom, I looked into the kitchen which had just gone through dinner service and everything was sparkling steel. read more

We love Namaste. We have been ordering takeout from here about once a week for months. The food is hot, flavorful and filling. My partner likes the chicken Tikka (his go to) and the chili chicken over rice. I tend to go veg here and really enjoy their take on saag paneer, as well as tofu Korma or madras. I also like the paneer jalfrezie. We also nearly always get the vegetable samosas plus a side of Naan or paratha. Honestly I've enjoyed everything I have gotten! When they served momos I liked those too. The delivery is speedy too. One piece of advice....if you say very spicy, be prepared for it to be almost too spicy. I often order medium spicy, but wish there was a 6/10 option. read more

We visited Namaste last night for dinner and could not have been happier with our meal or the service. We had heard good things, but had yet to try this spot since our move to Greenfield - we were not disappointed. Started with garlic and chive naan and veggie samosas which were both hot, delicious, and authentic. I had the veggie korma and my husband had the chicken masala. The veggie korma was as good as any I have had in the US or abroad. The chicken dish was very good, but we both liked the korma better. I will definitely try the goat next time as I found out that it and most of the menu items are locally sourced! Service was excellent and the owner even came by to talk to us about new menu items coming this summer. It was a great meal an experience! Very busy Saturday night; we were seated promptly and politely, and given a menu. Reservations are available and would recommend them if going on Saturday evening. Ordered veg pakora and bhindi masala, naan...and my dinner date went with chicken nuggets and fries. Seasoning was well done and balanced in the bhindi, similar to what I make at home. Basmati rice was well cooked and seasoned. The pakora was so good that even an American ten year old with a limited palate enjoyed them. She also enjoyed the naan a great deal. I hope to visit at least once more during my vacation. Pleased to see Indian flavors in Greenfield - it's a gap that had long needed to be filled! read more
