Today I visited Bombay Royale, and I was truly touched by the hospitality shown by Jeemol, Sojan, and George. We arrived very close to closing time, and usually that's when you don't expect the best food or service. However, the staff were incredibly prompt, courteous, and genuinely warm throughout our visit. We ordered the saag paneer, dal makhani, and garlic naan, and everything arrived hot with perfectly balanced flavors and spice levels -- exactly what we needed on a cold, rainy night. The food was exceptional, and we made sure to thank the chef personally. The prices were very reasonable, the restaurant had beautiful music playing, the tables and linens were spotless, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. To top it all off, they surprised us with dessert on the house. The entire experience was heartfelt and memorable. The restaurant is very inviting with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. The service here is amazing and our waters were refilled often. The chutney provided is so good and tasty. The garlic chili naan is really good and it's not that spicy. The paneer masala and butter chicken are very flavorful with a sweet taste and comes with basmati rice. I love when restaurants serve papadum with chutney on the house. It gives customer time to go over menu and settle down. Loved it. Specially the pickled onion. We ordered a very basic dinner ... all vegetarian with dal makhni, malai kofta tandoori roti . The food was delicious . Quiet ambience. We enjoyed our paneer masala. It was on the sweeter side which I didn't expect, but I did enjoy. The butter chicken was also tasty, although the chicken was a little dry and overcooked. The flavor was really good. We enjoyed the garlic chilly (spicy) naan. They also gave us a complementary rice container with our leftovers. We were disappointed with the amount of food in each portion. Besides that, we had a good experience. I would happily give this place 4.5 starts. Food - I love that at this place when they say zero chilies, it means zero chilies. I appreciate that! The samosa, masala dosa, chicken tikka masala, dal makhani, saag, and yellow tadka dal are all very, very good. Their naan and laccha paratha were good. It's also cool they give you plenty of papad to start. Ambience- it's very pleasant inside. They have done a nice job and the tables are not too close to each other. Service - all the staff here are so, so nice. There were 10 of us down a long table and we did have a funny thing where one of the servers had us pass things (like plates and drinks) down, but they are just so nice. Our friend brought cake for her daughter and they gave us a lighter for candles and a knife for the cake. They didn't even charge a cake cutting fee. We wanted to give a piece to our other friend to take home and the restaurant gave us a container for that. Excellent, amazing, incredible service!! My husband and I were visiting the area from Albany NY and have always wanted to try this place. Expectations were absolutely met! The food was AMAZING, the service was top tier and everyone really made sure we were taken care of, and the general vibe of the place was very relaxing even though there were a lot of people. It didn't feel chaotic at all. We have decided to make it a point to dine at this restaurant whenever we are in the area. Keep up the amazing work! I've had the lunch buffet here several times and that alone is a great way to sample a few things you might not normally want to have as a full meal. That alone is an incredible value - very fresh and the service as well as cleanliness of Bombay Royale is impeccable. I finally got in for dinner, as a scout for my family to see if they would like it as an alternative to where we usually go for Indian food. I only had one dish; Coondapur chicken, and I've never had that recipe, but was feeling somewhat adventurous...maybe I should have tried the more boring food my family will eat, to compare what they can expect, but I was selfish tonight. I was very happy with the dish and could tell that they could go a little deeper than the buffet food, which is great, but not as complex. Naan was very good, I had the onion chili and it was soft as well as crispy. Lighter and better than our current go-to. So, I'll be back and am happy that they are here locally. Oh, the interior is really nice (it's hard to tell from outside) and even on a Tuesday with a decent crowd, it wasn't loud. read more

The food was decent. I felt the buffet set up was a bit "cozy" or close for comfort if you will. But the service aside from the water being filled accordingly, was abysmal !! The lady in the red shirt was eyeballing my uncle the entire time. He enjoyed the food as did my cousin (his daughter) however, we weren't allowed to bring the food home with us according to the lady in the red shirt who was eyeballing the entire meal. Meanwhile there are two white ladies across from us who CLEARLY have their "doggie bag" . As did two other tables. Bombay Royale is honestly my FAVORITE Indian restaurant and they make the BEST Indian food. I've been to London recently and I frequent Boston - I've tried Indian food from all over and this is still the golden standard. I cannot recommend the Tamarind Eggplant (appetizer) enough. Their menu is very unique and the food they offer is often different from other Indian restaurants I've been to. The smell of the rice is intoxicating and it's cooked to perfection. I've tried many things on the menu and the Chicken Korma and Eggplant Masala are my staples. I go light on the spicy usually and they are always so kind and accommodating to this request. Their customer service is 10/10, staff is really nice and efficient, and the ambiance is also wonderful. This is a GEM of a location in Northampton. I drive 30-40 minutes out of my way to come here, as often as I can, because it's worth the drive for this caliber of a meal. Definitely a great bang for your buck and you're sure to have a full belly and plenty of leftovers to carry you into the next day. Run, don't walk to Bombay Royale!! read more

This stuff is bland as can be and hard to eat the goat curry isn't all that rich or balanced just kind of a harsh tomato sauce instead of a lush brown creamy sauce, just in general there's not enough love put in the food, not enough attention to layering the flavors for really good Indian food and wish that the chef could put a little more into his cooking read more

I love western MA! We have amazing people, music, art and nature. But I have to admit, it's not easy for me to find restaurants that I really like. Bombay Royale is a place that i look forward to visiting. The interior is clean and bright. I always feel relaxed and happy when I arrive. As a vegan who is also gluten free, my options in restaurants are often limited. Even though I manage to find things to eat in most places, it often feels like an afterthought. Bombay Royale is a rare exception. There's a whole section of their menu for vegan dishes. Everything is clearly labeled and the staff is always happy to answer any questions. It's a great feeling to know that the people making and serving my food understand and put care into making delicious things that are made vegan, rather than just leaving out an ingredient or two from a standard dish. They have the best Dosa's in New England, served with incredible chutneys and sambar. There's a fun lunch buffet that always has plenty of vegan options. They label everything clearly, even noting if there are nuts, GF, etc. I live about an hour away but it's still my go-to spot for special occasions or meeting a friend for lunch if I'm in the noho/amherst area. The vegetarian dishes here are always great. Service is consistently good and the dishes are all very affordable for being of such great quality. I've been here a few times now, and I find that they're very good about specifics such as "no cilantro." And they compensate well too. If I ask for no mint sauce on the side, they give me a different condiment instead. I recently got takeout from them and found they'd forgotten the rice, and when I went back to ask for some, they gave me two servings of rice. I appreciate that! read more
