We stopped at the Royal buffet for lunch on a Sunday. It was bustling with plenty of tables still available so no waiting. We were seated quickly, our drink order taken, and off to the buffet. There's quite a variety to choose from! I tried the general tso, boneless spare ribs, chicken wrapped in bacon, pork fried rice, chicken teriyaki, fried chicken wing, and a couple pieces of sushi roll. There was quite a bit of seafood that I didn't get to (didn't see that station). I'll agree with some of the other comments on yelp in that the food on the buffet was not that hot. That said, I thought that is seemed very fresh. I liked everything that I tried with the exception of the fried rice which I thought was very bland. There was lo mein as well, if i go back I'll give that a try. I don't eat enough to get the $18 worth out of a buffet, but I do like that I can have a bite of a number of different things without committing to a whole order of 1 thing. This is what we found in our desert plate after eating dinner there. We contact management and they wanted us to pay 50% of the check even though there was an animal in our food. Once we said we was going to report this to the health department. The manager said you delete the pic you don't need to pay. Shame on them . The dinner was free after all. I forgot to check in when we arrived but anyway I came here to pick up food and what a disappointment. They close at 9:30pm and it was 8:50pm when we arrived. They had crabs that looked terrible. Their sushi needed to be tossed in the trash. They had any kind of chicken fixed and cooked you can think of. I don't eat chicken so I didn't get any of that. My family got fried rice, beef with broccoli, pepper steak, and some fruit. I didn't get any food. I was ok with that. Their shrimp at the buffet wasn't clean, the lo mein was super dry, the boneless ribs were dry, and the egg rolls were dry under the heat. It wasn't all good if you didn't order from the menu. People were coming in getting take out from the buffet and was disappointed as well. The restaurant didn't put any more food out and started cleaning the restaurant. I'm really getting disappointed with many restaurants. When you are used to a certain way of cooking and great food, you just get throwed off when you see lack of any restaurant establishment that advertise that they are the best and really isn't. If I had to do it all over again, I would've kept going and went to Denny's. At least I know that my family wouldn't be disappointed. Who can't cook eggs and toast? The food was all lukewarm. Flatware was dirty. Soup cups are not available in the soup section. We had to hunt for them. We went in at 3 p.m. and were charged diner buffet prices when leaving at 3:45. Egg rolls had no real filling to speak of. The stone crab served had very little meat in them. First time here and my experience was nothing the best. Our utensil were dirty and I gave them to the waiter and told him they were dirty and I had to go to the front desk to ask them for forks and straws because the waiter didn't bother with it. By far the best buffet I've ever been to. The crab legs were freshly stocked every 10 mins I believe. (Drove an hour for the all you can eat crab legs actually) the staff was super friendly and they were pretty persistent on picking up the dirty plates. To start off the food it was kind of cold during lunchtime and I wasn't expecting a lot from a buffet but coming from someplace around Western Massachusetts it's decent for a buffet but the fact that the food quality is really not that good compared to other buffet foods around here. top it off the pudding sucks here and they need to restock on more crab legs because it is such a high demand. I believe we had a nice time so it had to be celebrated it was my birthday.So we had to go out to eat. I heard they served crab legs. So I started off only going for the crab legs. I thought that they would have had some type of sauce. But no, no sauce, no seasonings they were bland. My friend grabbed the butter and I grabbed the salt. We had terrible guest sitting next to who were loud and obnoxious. Not one waitress told them to calm down because of other guest. Totally awful you can barely here my friend talk. The Royal Buffet offers excellent Chinese and (some) American and Japanese food, with a catch - cockroaches. I had been here a few times and was greatly pleased with the variety, quality, service, and value of the food, but on my most recent visit (spring of '09) I was greeted at the sushi counter by a cockroach making his way across the ice. I called over the manager who scooped up the roach (not kill, but gingerly lift it off the ice and cradle it in his hand) and promise to call pest control immediately. Unfortunately for me, the damage had already been done so the manager waived our bill. Needless to say I have not been back since. If you can live with this fact, the food is of great quality and value and the refills are prompt - three things that are essential when dining out. read more

So..... 16 years ago we are at the other Royal Buffet down the road.... They had both for awhile. Anyway, we were the only ones in the resteraunt and there was all this buffet food and our infant daughter at the time needed her bottle. The attentive Chinese man brought us a hot container of water to warm the bottle which was nice and proceded to stand and smile at us the rest of the CREEPY time we spent there..... The next morning we read that the 2 brothers that owned the place stabbed each other to death with the same butcher knife in the back room.!! I go everytime to the one next to Walmart now. Me and my family have been here a few times but yesterday was the last time ever. We found hairs inside the fruit and our waitress was very rude and rushed us to leave. After a trying day we were looking forward to a nice, quiet meal. That wasn't going to happen here. The heat wave was continuing outside and there was no AC in the place. My first sip of soup contained a long hair - so that was put aside. The noise was immediate from a family with kids when we walked in. Kids constantly yelling and screaming with no reaction or discipline from the adults. I talked to the employee at the desk and asked if she could speak to them about their noise, but they did nothing. I was offered to be moved to a "quiet" room. We were 80% done with our meal and upset about the offer. I told her it shouldn't be us that has to move, but someone needs to quiet that table. All in all - the AC needed to be on, the food was dry, overcooked and tasteless and I believe the restaurant employees need to be trained in situations like this. As we were leaving, another customer told us he was happy we said something as he was unhappy with the restaurant's lack of response. Do not plan on ever going there again! read more

If your thinking of going READ!!!!!!! It could save you a trip to the ER and I'm being 100% serious. I stopped in for early dinner while shopping with my girlfriend and daughter food was okay a 5.5 or 6 out of 10 server we had sucked though.... but that's not why I'm writing this it's way worse then that. So any way we ate then continued our shopping about a hour or so later the cramps started. I person in triage asked me why I was there I told her after I went out to eat I started getting she asked me where I ate I said a The Royal Buffet in Chicopee she looked ate the other person working there and said that's funny your the second person in the last 2 hours from there. So I waited say the doctor who told me i was actually the 3rd person tonight from there. Then told me I had food poisoning and gave me antibiotics and some nausea pills told me if I'm not better Monday to call my primary.
