I forgot to check in when we arrived but anyway I came here to pick up food and what a disappointment. They close at 9:30pm and it was 8:50pm when we arrived. They had crabs that looked terrible. Their sushi needed to be tossed in the trash. They had any kind of chicken fixed and cooked you can think of. I don't eat chicken so I didn't get any of that. My family got fried rice, beef with broccoli, pepper steak, and some fruit. I didn't get any food. I was ok with that. Their shrimp at the buffet wasn't clean, the lo mein was super dry, the boneless ribs were dry, and the egg rolls were dry under the heat. It wasn't all good if you didn't order from the menu. People were coming in getting take out from the buffet and was disappointed as well. The restaurant didn't put any more food out and started cleaning the restaurant. I'm really getting disappointed with many restaurants. When you are used to a certain way of cooking and great food, you just get throwed off when you see lack of any restaurant establishment that advertise that they are the best and really isn't. If I had to do it all over again, I would've kept going and went to Denny's. At least I know that my family wouldn't be disappointed. Who can't cook eggs and toast? I end up eating at Burger King for myself.

This is a pretty good Chinese buffet located near the Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart Supercenter. When I'm traveling between Boston and Albany and I get really hungry, I'll hop off the Mass Pike at Exit 5 and make a stop at the Royal Buffet for lunch or dinner. As you enter the place, be sure to check out the nice fish pond in the corner. This buffet offers the popular Chinese dishes & items, American dishes, dim sum, stuffed shells, soups, seafood (shrimp cocktail, crab legs, soft shell crab, crawfish, steamers, salmon, squid, raw oysters, mussels), BBQ grill, sushi, roast duck, salads, & desserts (hard ice cream, cake slices from display cooler, jello, fruit, cookies, tarts). The food I've had here has been pretty good and tasty each time. I especially enjoy the good seafood selection during dinner, including the steamers, crabs and crawfish! The service is pretty good with refills on drinks and clearing of plates. BUFFET PRICES (as of 12/2008): Lunch (Mon-Fri 11:00AM-3:30PM): $7.99 (Adults), $4.99 (Kids 6-11), $3.99 (Kids 3-5) Dinner (Mon-Fri 3:30PM-9:30PM; All Day Sat, Sun & Holidays): $12.99 (Adults), $7.99 (Kids 6-11), $4.99 (Kids 3-5) Seniors over 65 get 10 percent off. Kids 2 & under FREE.

Excellent for a Buffet, food fresh and $12.00 per person for lunch. I go there usually once every 2 weeks. Worth the drive.

I cannot emphasize enough how disgusting this place is. Save your money and your stomach…read more First, it is wildly overpriced for what you get. You are paying a premium to eat in conditions that are absolutely filthy. The serving area was a disaster, food spilled everywhere, and a general feeling of grime. It felt like eating out of a pig trough. And the food? It is pure upchuck. where's the ketchup - Lukewarm, old, and unappetizing. Nothing looked fresh, and the quality was so bad it was genuinely nauseating. The whole experience, from the chaos of the busy crowd to the complete lack of cleanliness, made me regret walking in the door. Would you recommend it? Absolutely not. Do yourself a favor and eat anywhere else. Hope the health dept shows up.

The servers were attentive and super kind, always checking in on us and I even noticed how other servers were making conversation with customers, making them welcome. The food I got was good, however not everything was a bit as some items like my chicken and steak weren't fully cooked in spots, and did not have much in terms of flavor. However, considering a buffet constantly makes food in bulk for everyone, it would be foolish to expect everything to be perfect. For a big group or family, this is perfect but if I think with how small my family is, we would probably just go to another restaurant. Prices are fair so I would recommend you try it out if you are looking for buffet style in the area!

Nippon Grill and Seafood Buffet is one of the few buffets that still feels alive. The dining room…read morestays full, the trays move quickly, and the food comes out hot instead of drifting into that tired, lukewarm zone that ruins most buffets. The space itself is well kept and clean, which matters more than people admit. A buffet lives or dies on maintenance, and Nippon shows real discipline in how it's run. It is not perfect, but it gives you real value for the price, and that alone sets it apart in a landscape where many buffets have declined or disappeared. The strength of Nippon is its seafood. They offer baby clams, crayfish, mussels, fish dishes, and soups that are light enough to enjoy without burning out early. These dishes give the buffet a sense of generosity that many places have lost. The sushi is what you expect from a buffet, not a handcrafted experience, but it is fresh enough and replaced often. The hibachi station adds another layer of variety, and the constant movement of the crowd keeps the food cycling at a steady pace. The imperfections are predictable. Some dishes are filler. The room can get chaotic at peak times. A tray might sit empty for a moment before the next batch arrives. None of this is surprising, and none of it ruins the experience. It is simply the nature of a busy buffet that is trying to keep up with demand. There is one piece of advice that makes the difference between a short meal and a long, satisfying one. The worst way to approach a buffet is to load your first plate with dense, heavy foods. You fill up fast and the meal ends before it begins. Nippon rewards a smarter approach. Start with the low volume seafood. Begin with clams, fish, salads, soups, and crayfish. These dishes let you warm up without tapping out early. You can enjoy more of the spread and actually experience the variety that makes the place worth visiting. The truth is simple. Nippon is not trying to be refined. It is a big, lively, well maintained seafood buffet that gives you heat, turnover, and enough range to make the price feel fair. If you approach it with a little strategy, you can feast for a long time and walk out satisfied. I actually love this place.

The restaurant was fairly already busy for Saturday afternoon and the food was made fresh by the time I arrived. This is a great place for families and couples. I ended up buying two watches from them.

However, the quality has been exceptionally good, especially in the last couple years since there appears to have been a change in management. The portions are generous, the meat and especially the vegetables aren't overcooked (a problem I've encountered at some other places), and the staff are friendly and professional. Is it greasy? Yes, though not nearly as much as some other places around here. Is it healthy? Probably not, unless you get one of the steamed vegetable dinners in the "healthy section". Personally I don't get Chinese food for my health; my personal favorite order is the dinner combo plate with chicken and broccoli and fried rice. Comes with an egg roll and tastes perfect every time. The timeless General Tso's chicken is also a treat. I've been here enough that a year or two ago they even gave me a free tote bag, which is among my most cherished thing-holders today. If you live in Holyoke, forget the middling rating and give this place a try. It's a great place to have in the neighborhood.

He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.
