    A little bit of everything!

As usual when I check out a new place I stopped into Mesa right at 11am on a Saturday just after they opened up for the day. You pay up front, which is nice. I declined the tip when asked by the machine because I always tip at the table. Tipping BEFORE your service seems ridiculous to me. Nice place, clean, bright and rather open seating. Tons of delicious food options. Pork, chicken, seafood, stews, different rices, veggies and a nice dessert bar too! I was recommended this place from a coworker and I'm glad he did. They refilled my soda when needed and took away my stack of plates when I was done, to me their service was great and good enough. There's a debate whether the food at Mesa is Dominican or Puerto Rican or a mixture of both. I'm not Hispanic so I couldn't really tell you.....but what I can tell you is that it was all delicious and I definitely will be back and can personally recommend stopping by there.

Had not been here in years. Was looking for a place while on the areas that had carribean food. This restaurant meet the requirements. Conveniently located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking located in front of restaurant. The restaurant is a lot larger than it appears on the outside. Our server was very nice even though there were a few times I needed to use my very elementary spanish or google translate to ask for things. The meal was reasonably prices for a lunch buffet. Tons of food and dessert options to choose from. We had a good fining experience snd would ho again if in the area.

Mmmmm so yummy food assortment. Lol

When I'm craving something yummy where I may choose a wide variety of flavorful Dominican food, i come here. I always get sleepy after eating here because I'm very satisfied with the choices of flavorful food and the friendly staff.

An interesting spot in the heart of Springfield. Been here a couple times now. The service is decent, although sometimes hard to communicate with the staff. The food is pretty good, they have a large variety of authentic dishes. Pretty typical buffet style spot, could use some updates to the decor and seating. Overall not bad.

Stopped by on a Sunday early evening and this place was BUSY! We waited over 20 minutes to pay and be seated. There were so many families having a great time. The food is buffet style. You have to sanitize your hands and wear gloves to serve yourself food. You pay and you're seated. The food was very delicious. There was a wide assortment of food and definitely something for everyone. The servers were on the slow side to bring beverages and clear tables but we know there is a current shortage of employees. Be patient and be nice!

Took myself here from Connecticut on a little self date I like Spanish food as I am not Latino at all. I think a Spanish buffet is a dope idea. Food was 7.5/10 Their lemonade in plastic jar was good!

This is another spot that in the cut (strip mall) there use to be a chinese but there, but they closed down and was replaced by the latin (mexican) buffet. the food is great, the staff is friendly and the cost ( $23) is great for the amount of latin food that is offered and I would highly recommend this place.

If you are going to do a buffet in the Springfield area, this is the place. I actually haven't been for a while but Mesa came up the other day when I was chatting with family about where to get fried cheese. We LOVE this place. Keep in mind it caters to families so maybe not a fancy date place, but definitely a meet your friends, eat well, and blow your calorie budget place.

I'm going to say 3 1/2 stars. Exciting to see the only buffet of it's kind in the area featuring Hispanic food. The location was formerly an outdated Chinese restaurant and the new owners have renovated it into a tastefully decorated and comfortable buffet in a clean and inviting atmosphere. There were some good points and points that I felt needed improvement. Good Points: A very good price point for the value of all you can eat. A big variety of Spanish food including empanadas, rellenos (potato balls), roasted pork, soups, all kinds of rice, beans, malanga, yucca and a variety of meats and sides, including some American style sides like wings and mac n cheese. The sorullos de maiz were my favorite, yummy. The fresh fruit looks beautiful and there is a wide variety of desserts served in small portions so that you can try many things. Friendly staff. Points for improvement: Dirty plates sat on the table for an extended time before picked up. That seemed to be the trend looking around at other tables. Meats that are normally served crunchy like the fried pork (chicharrones) were soft/soggy and not crunchy. It also would be great if foods were labeled. For someone who would like to try Spanish food this buffet gives them the opportunity to try many different items. I think with a few adjustments I can raise my review stars. I'll visit again in the future. Best of all, I'm happy to see the foods of our culture being enjoyed in a restaurant that you can be proud to sit in. I wish this family tons and tons of success.

This restaurant is a very hidden gem! My girl-friend and I strolled in today on our lunch break and we're from NY so it was today or never. We came as soon as doors opened, literally. As soon as she opened the doors we were greeted so warmly by our hostess. The decorations and ambiance of the place was incredible! . It was very clean and even the women's bathroom was decorated so beautifully (see image below). We didn't smell any of the food when we walked in, their ventilation must be up to par (I would not be surprised) The lady who helped us out with some of the food was so nice and caring, even considering our language barrier! It was awesome. Now onto the food. Guys I'm not even bluffing when I say all my girl-friend and I could say was "this is really good" or "omg". I kid you not that's all the came out of our mouths while eating their food. Holy, their food is scrumptious and cooked to perfection. The chef/s really did put both feet in all of the food! (It's an expression) There is not one thing we did not like. Their tres leches is to die for! Their beef stew tasted exactly like my late grandmothers, it was very delicious and uncanny. They also had very great music choices, playing hits from Juanes and more, which reminded me of my childhood. It was really great. HOWEVER back to my original comment, this restaurant does not belong here at all. Not only is everything else in this plaza run down and sloppy looking, but we witnessed not one but TWO grand theft autos!! In a span of 2 hours. There was also the same folks scoping out the ride we came in!! Strange town, will not be back to stay but we will one thousand percent be back to Mesa Buffet. 11/10 recommend. Also pricing wasn't bad, it was 50$ for two of us.

It's been…read moreprobably over 15 years I don't go to a GC but we had dropped off my dad's car to get an oil change, and it was going to be a while, so we walked over to the only place in the area that had breakfast which was GC. Having read the other reviews I have to agree that the place has a grimey feeling to it. A feeling like the entire restaurant needs to be pressure washed and the carpets ripped off and replaced. The workers were super friendly, but there was some definite disorganization amongst them. I was waiting a good 15 minutes before they could decide who was going to be at the omelette station. I laughed cause one of them picked up a broom and was like: "I did it yesterday, it's so and so's turn today." Then there's the quality of food which is basically bare minimum - the cheapest possible available and it shows in taste and appearance. At least... at least the coffee was decent which was a pleasant surprise, and the omelette was actually pretty good and that's pretty much all I would have from there. I wish there would be more fresh fruit. The cinnamon rolls - very obviously from a can. The gravy for biscuits obviously from a pouch that had water added, heated and served. You see what I mean? like its all quantity not quality. Which I guess you can't expect much more when its 13.99 per person. Maybe it's because it was morning, but we found the bathrooms to be clean which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I view golden corral as a place you go to when there's no other option as it was in our case within walking distance. It's cheap in both price and quality. This is the epitome of the saying: "You get what you pay for."

Worst experience so far with my service dog…read more I was finally able to enjoy what I thought would be a nice dinner out with my family after a long time. My children had been asking to go to Golden Corral, so we decided to make it a family night. I made every effort to be respectful and responsible with my service dog. I kept my body between him and the food line at all times, and he remained approximately four feet away from the food. My wife held my plate, and I simply told her what I wanted while she went through the line. Then, unexpectedly, I was approached by not one, but two individuals who never identified themselves as employees. They were dressed in street clothes with nothing indicating that they worked there. One of them began speaking to me in a raised and confrontational manner, telling me to keep my dog away from the food. The other told me that I had to keep my service dog underneath the table. At the time, I had no idea that the first person was actually the manager. I only found that out afterward when my wife went back to speak with management about what had happened. When we first arrived, we had intentionally chosen a large table away from other customers so that we could be respectful of everyone around us. My dog was not wandering around, approaching people, or interfering with the food. I also made sure to keep myself between him and the food line. The way I was approached and spoken to was completely unnecessary and, quite honestly, very upsetting. Regardless of the person's position, I believe there was a much more professional and respectful way to address any concerns. Shortly afterward, another customer approached me. This person had witnessed the entire situation and told me that, in their opinion, I had done nothing wrong. They specifically pointed out that my service dog had not been attracting attention, had not approached the food, and had not interfered with anyone. They also suggested that I contact corporate because they felt the way I was treated was unprofessional. My wife then went back and spoke with the manager, explaining what had happened and pointing out that another customer had witnessed the entire interaction. That's when we learned that the person who had initially confronted me was, in fact, the manager. At that point, we were simply looking for a family dinner. Instead, what should have been an enjoyable evening became an incredibly stressful and embarrassing experience. I understand that restaurants have rules regarding animals and food-service areas. I also understand the importance of keeping a service dog under control and being respectful of other customers. That is exactly what I was doing. What I don't understand is why the situation was handled the way it was. If management had a concern about my service dog, I would have been happy to have a respectful conversation about it. Instead, I felt publicly confronted and humiliated despite making every effort to be responsible and considerate. I hope management and corporate take the time to look into what happened, because people who rely on service dogs should be able to enjoy a meal with their families without being made to feel unwelcome or embarrassed when they are doing their best to follow the rules.

He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.
