This restaurant is EXCELLENT! There isn't anything I can really say negative about it. The location is in a shopping plaza so there is much to checkout around the restaurant itself. The restaurant itself is clean and the decor is comfortable. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The food is absolutely delicious, coming into a buffet atmosphere you can usually expect the food to be hastily made so the quality isn't always there. But that wasn't the case here, everything I tried was delicious and tasted so authentic. So much flavor in every bite. Whomever finally decided to make a Puerto Rican buffet is a GENIUS. I highly recommend this place and I will most certainly be frequenting it as much as my wallet will allow. read more

Wow! This place is incredible. Drive 45 minutes and I would do it again. They have an excellent assortment of Puerto Rican cuisine. 4 different types of rice and everything is very flavorful. We didn't try something that we didn't like. The desserts were excellent and the servers were very attentive even while it was busy dinner time. Very clean buffet area and they're very attentive on cleaning up any spills. They don't serve alcohol, but it does look like they might have a bar area later on. First time eating here, everything was bursting with flavor, some items tasted as if they've sat out a bit too long, seated quickly and had not much of a wait time for a Saturday night. They didn't inform us of being short staffed and we purchased five drinks at the front desk. After we got our meals from the buffet we were approached by our waiter who informed us the front desk lady didn't speak English well and charged us for our drinks but didn't actually know what we wanted.... We informed our waiter and then was told we'd be receiving our drinks soon. The table that came after us was served drinks almost immediately. Our table was maybe forgotten about? By the time we finished our 3rd or 4th plate we still hadn't received our drinks so we asked for our money back. We were then told they were short staffed and gave us our money back. Took a ride and found the Mesa. Spanish that is very good. Not very expensive either. If you're hungry, I mean REAL hungry and you're in the Springfield area, check this place out. This place was okay... I feel like they weren't prepared for the amount of people they were servicing. The food selections were kind of all over the place. It kind of seemed like they were running out of things, so to keep up with the people they just started bringing out anything. Most disappointing thing was NO plátanos... the taste of the food was okay. I will give this place a second try maybe I'll go a little earlier in the day and hopefully there's more food to choose from. I went here once with my two year old and husband and let me tell you that I've never had such bad service before. The food isn't bad, but the servers have attitude and roll their eyes at you. Found out about this place on facebook. Puerto rican food is my favorite and I was excited to go here but was less than impressed. The food was so so. The pernil was moist and flavorful and the rice and beans were both on point. The tostones were hard as a rock and inedible, the empanadas were hard and dried out like they were sitting under the heat lamps all day. I was not thrilled paying $15 for my plate when it wasnt that great. I probably wont go back there because I would rather order from the puerto rican restaurant I know and love read more

A few hits but mostly misses in the place. I was excited to see a spanish buffet, however most of the food unfortunately was sub par at best. The pork shoulder was super dry, and the roasted chicken legs looked amazing however past the crunch skin i thought i was eating a handful of sand. Plus side was the goat stew. I came back with my sisters and nieces. I noticed the same great taste, the never cold dishes and the friendly staff. While my first visit left the waitstaff not as attentative as I had hoped, I noticed them more than eager to keep the dirty dishes off my table. In addition to the prompt service, every staff member I came across gave me the home-type friendly feel, which left me thinking more family and less restaurant. I'll start by saying how I heard about Mesa; in the 'suggested' area on my instagram feed i had seen a buffet style restaurant with most of my favorite Spanish-style ingredients. Some of which i knew pretty well. Here's what i can remember off the dome (i apologize for any incorrect spelling): Carne Asada, Carnitas, Chicharron, Black Beans, Pinto Beans, Kidney Beans, Spanish Rice, White Rice, Brown Rice, and that's just the tip of the iceberg for what they have in variety. When I had gone to fill my plate each time, it seemed as if they were always putting new batches of food in their respective spots to keep up with the volume of customers, which is great because the meats/seafood had never ran dry and the rices/soups kept shedding steam. Another thing to note is that they have a variety of soups and fruits both in a separate area although I hadn't tried any at the time. In a conclusive statement, if you really love spanish food, and can't get enough of it, this is definitely the spot to slide to. They serve alcohol as well for those who are curious. Drove 35 minutes from Hartford Connecticut & let me just say it was totally worth it. This food was very flavorful & delicious coming from a Puerto Rican herself. They also had Mangu which taste amazing. I think the deserts can do better but I never usually get to desert when I'm out eating so it really didn't bother. If this is the Puerto Rican Restaurant and Bakery located on the corner of Liberty Street and I don't know the name of the adjacent but if it's the location of the restaurant is at a point where the business is at a point where the location takes the whole corner the main entrance is on Liberty Street and the excite is on the other side of the location then this is the Puerto Rican Restaurant and Bakery located and this is the best restaurant there is with the best quality of food. My husband and I Happen to be at the RMW when I noticed this place. I have been to the previous buffet here but was happy to see a new one. (Looked up the info online came across an article that says information about new owners being successful owners of a previous restaurant that I use to go for growing up.) It's very clean and staff are super super niece and welcoming. They have a variety of Dominican & Puerto Rican food. There tembleque is amazing. The flan was not good at all. Was expecting a bit more veriety of Puerto Rican dishes such as mofongo more Dominican or Puerto Rican deserts that the ones they had. (Cocunut balls are good) cookies we're rock hard Guac taste good . Theyre fruit bar was excellent with great choices but the fruit tasted room temperature I didn't notice any ice under the fruit. No go for fruits for me. The price was decent for 2. The pork and Rib tips as well as they're Mac and cheese are good choices and are cooked as expected. My husband had a chicken and he liked it. But he was not a fan of they're seafood salad or mangu. ( did look a bit bland). He also had rice with black beans and he liked it. They also have ice creams from the scoop containers we didn't get any because apparently they only had cones and no dish. read more

Went around almost 130 with my daughter to try this place that everyone talks about the rice and gandules was good and there beans I did not like there potatoe salad witch is sad because I love home made potatoe salad there macaroni salad was terrible as well had a strong taste like viniger it had a very strong taste that I did not like there mangu was ok had better I wanted tostones but I asked one of the ladies if there making some she said she was going to look and see but she ignored me and I went around a few times to check and did not see any there yuca was not soft a little hard to bite on witch is not good yuca should be nice and soft there bacalou was a little bland there sea food salad was ok they have a lot of sweets to choose from I had the tres leche I had better they also have a lot of fruits and ice cream the waiter took forever to pick up our plates from the table so we can go get more food as you can see I did not enjoy much of the food here will not be going back read more

To star I was a frequent guest of this Spanish buffet. The wait is awful on weekends due to not having bussboy to help clear the tables. I spent $70.16 on Saturday and came in with 3 other guests only to eat once. Upon trying the white rice it had a chemical smell and taste horrible. When my mother who also frequent the place with me mentioned it to Morena who was waiting on us.... Mirena supposedly told someone in the kitchen. No one came to acknowledge the complaint or even offer to give the money back for the awful experience. That rice killed our appetite. POOR customer service skills.
