    Peppery Chicken
    Anne M.

I recently stopped by for takeout & ordered the Salty crispy fish & Peppery Chicken. (It's definitely worth it to check out the Chef's Specialties- they are EXCELLENT! I had the beef with ginger scallions it was DELISH - tons of FLAVOR!) The Peppery Chicken is wok fried dried chilis mixed with diced chicken. It's a dry dish so no real sauce but the chicken is tossed with spicy chili flavor & it's is excellent & surprisingly not overly spicy - it's more a nice medium spice! The salted crispy fish is a fresh mild flavored pieces of white fish tossed in a very light breading wok fried with onions & jalapeños & scallions! Also DELISH! Neither are heavy dishes too which is nice!

We stopped in while we were away on vacation from CT . We came in late and literally cannot say enough about how kind and welcoming Lily was to us. Just a great attitude and went above and beyond and the food was great!

Sweet & Sour chicken was very dry. Didn't like the pork fried rice. Missed some items. Food was cool when I brought it home.

I would come back for these. Someone next to us also ordered them. Now I did still want to try their traditional dishes so we split Xaio Long Baos which were really good soup dumplings. They were fresh and tasty. I also got a general gau chicken which I know is more Americanized Chinese food but got it since it was offered as a plate with rice. It was tasty, a little spicy and a large portion--I had leftovers. I would like to come back to try more of their authentic dishes as the food was of high quality and it was busy inside so that's a good sign! First of all, the arrangement they had for queueing for tables was a bit confusing and unclear. We were given a slip of a paper with a number on it, which the hostess eventually called out after about 10 minutes. I wish they had a more seamless system for handling this (in an app or taking phone numbers instead). We ordered lots of dishes to share.. pineapple buns with roast pork, the viral crab rangoon scallion pancake, soup dumplings, rice rolls with ribs, etc. The standout for me was definitely the crab rangoon scallion pancakes. I 100% get the hype! It's ooey and gooey and perfect for any crab rangoon lover. I was however pretty disappointed in the pineapple buns (one of my favorite dishes) and soup dumplings, which honestly just tasted like they were frozen and reheated from the grocery store. The service was also very absent and it took awhile for us to wave someone down so we could pay our bill. Not sure if we visited on an off day or something, but I wasn't very impressed.

1 Star -- The Worst Chinese Food in Amherst (and That's Saying Something!)…read more I ordered the "All Day Combo" General Tso's Chicken with Vegetable Fried Rice for lunch -- and wow, I wish I hadn't. The portion was pathetic: maybe five tablespoons of pre-cooked fried rice and five tiny, shriveled pieces of chicken (smaller than nuggets!) that were clearly reheated leftovers. The chicken was tough, dry, and chewy -- like biting into old rubber. And the price? $12.70 for what? A sad excuse for a meal. Absolutely no value, no freshness, and no effort whatsoever. This was hands-down the worst Chinese food I've ever had in Amherst -- and possibly anywhere. Located on College Street, this place needs to do some serious soul-searching about what they're serving people. If you value your money (and your taste buds), stay far, far away. This wasn't lunch -- it was a culinary insult in a takeout box. Save yourself the disappointment. Just don't.

The mapo tofu and sweet and sour pork were lunch specials, under 12 dollars each! The calamari was much pricier in comparison, over 20 dollars by itself. The food was packed into each of the containers as well, which allowed us to eat until we were stuffed while still having so much food leftover.

What an amazing canto spot and what's even better is that it's 8 mins away from Mohegan sun. There was no host for a while when we entered, we were kind of lost without any guidance. We helped ourselves and just walked straight to the back and a waiter finally spotted us and sat us down. We came on a Monday so sadly because the sushi chef was not in, there was no sushi for the day. Everything we ordered was yum and the price was good too. For $100, a party of 6 and a baby, we got to try every thing and we were so satisfied. The best dish was the pineapple buns, I still yearn for those to this day. Their baked roast pork bun was good too. I definitely want to visit soon, hopefully will make my friend drive to Mohegan sun so I can enjoy this restaurant again. So much more worth it to eat here than eat at Mohegan. I need those pineapple buns...... addicted!!! CANT WAIT

Sidewalks were torn up but the place is hard to find with lack of signage. We were able to get seated right away, and looked through their digital menu. We got a smattering of dishes, wontons and dumplings, a sandwich and a ramen. Food came out in a reasonable wait time. We took pics and dug in. The 7 flavor dumpling was the star of the show. Light and thin dumpling wrapper, savory sweet sauce, plenty of filling. The pork dumplings were good, but the wrapper was thicker and denser. The twice cooked pork sandwich was pretty tasty, the pork needed to be more present compared to the veggies, but appreciated the crisp of the bread. The ramen had a good amount of braised beef and noodles. The broth needed a little doctoring to coax out some of the more savory notes. Broth needed more aggressive seasoning though. The price was not too bad for the area. It's kind of like dim sum, where you get a small plate for the price but it's all shareable and the flavors are good. It's not very well lit, gave the place a very dark air about it. But as a restaurant, it's pretty good. There's a lot of great places in that area, and this one's a good option if you're looking for small plates.

Inside is beautifully decorated, clean and staff was friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious, not everything was a home run - but not everything on a menu can be. The spicy beef ramen was really good, but the broth was oily and too thin for our liking. We added some soy and asked for some hoisin - which made a big difference. Overall, We will definitely be back and try more menu items.
