This place has been on my foodie bucket list for quite some time. Never thought that the service would go far beyond, paralleling the food! The food was fantastic, we had pork Jin Jin's, pork buns, October, and Ja Jen Men. All were delicious and well presented. The only way to get food is to email the owner several days in advance with your order and pickup time, then stop in and pick it up. They state that there will likely be a bit of a delay, but the restaurant was quite behind on the day I picked this up, with ten or so people crammed in the small indoor space. I waited about 30 minutes after my pickup time before I had food. The staff were kind about this, handing out coupons and drinks to beat the heat, so I wouldn't write the place off completely, but it's definitely something to be aware of. However!! If you have time to wait, the food itself is good. The pork buns are soft, with a nice crisp edge, and flavorful filling. The spicy yo-po noodles were tender but not chewy, again with an excellent flavor. They were too spicy for me, but the flavor was compelling enough that I kept eating them anyway. I have little to no spice tolerance, so I'm sure anyone else would be able to handle them. I've tried the Ja Jen Men and October noodles before, as well, and found the spicy yo-po to be significantly better than those. It's also not far from the beach, making it a great place to grab a bite before or after a beach day. They have an outdoor patio where you can enjoy the weather while you eat. If you're just picking up your order, you can head inside, but there isn't indoor seating. I am lucky to have this gem of a place right in my neighborhood. The food is amazing. There is a parking lot connected but if filled there is another free lot across the street not far. So parking plentiful. You do need to order a few days in advance since everything is made from scratch. I emailed order and when coming. It was very easy process. There is no inside seating but they have a great outside patio that we have eaten at several times. You can also take your food to eat at Whalers Brewing, Sons of Liberty or Tower Hill Brewing. So lots of options all close. We have been to them all and all great. I love their buns. I also love the spicy yopa noodles with fried egg. It is so good. My husband loves their spicy wontons which I agree. He loves the sauce it is made with. He also got the jayd noodle which is a cold noodle which was good. They have excellent wonton soup too. The food is unlike anything I ever have that I love exploring the menu. We have never had a bad meal here. Inside is decorated with all their awards which are well deserved. The staff is so nice. A friend randomly found an ad for this place online. When we read that you MUST order in advance, we figured it must be good. Our assumption couldn't be more correct. It's a small takeout spot with no indoor dining, but there's plenty of funny posters on the wall to look at while you wait. Staff is friendly. Food is beyond amazing. I started off with the scallion pancakes. Not greasy, perfectly crispy and absolutely savory. They're covered in a special homemade sauce. I recommend you dip them in some of their vinegar dipping sauce, but they taste phenomenal by themselves The pork dumplings were sensational as well. I've never tasted Chinese dumplings so flavorful before. They're served open for some reason but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment at all. Again, they're great by themselves, but they're also good with the included dumpling sauce and also the vinegar sauce. Finally we come to the chicken buns. Not too much dough and plenty of tender delicious chicken inside. I liked these best with the normal dumpling sauce personally. Once again, top tier. This restaurant deserves more than five stars. A quick post to Facebook and boom, call to score a great free treat!! Snow days seem to generate the most action and boy you have to be quick! If you think getting through for a regular order is tough, well step up and accept the mystery bag call in experience!! Was able to score this sweet treat on a snowy cold evening! After a flurry of calls I was able to score a bag on the second round posted for the night. While some may say it is careless to drive in icy road conditions, I felt this one was worth it for calming my tastebuds down from their lack of Jayd Bun (it has been a bit since I have been in)! BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) - the food is incredible (of the three dishes I enjoyed), the portions generous, the atmosphere is both simple and unique, and the quick conversations with the staff while waiting amid all the hustle and bustle are both entertaining and informative. As for the wait time, pay attention to the rules and your meal with be presented to you within minutes of your scheduled pick-up time. Email made it work for me without much fuss. Unfortunately underwhelming. We ordered two of the Jayd Fusion and were told upon pickup they had run out. We'd even placed our order five days beforehand just in case. We get they disclaim that the order isn't guaranteed, but I don't necessarily understand the point in ordering ahead then. Also beware there is 3% credit card up charge, which does add up with the prices. The food itself was good. Nothing mindblowing, we got the Yopo, pancakes, pork buns, veggies buns, and peanut butter noodles. The yopo was probably the most unique. The peanut butter noodles lacked something, perhaps salt. I will say, the noodles are made in house and texturally are great. The scallion pancakes were tasty and unique, though not at all crispy, and we only got the one order out of the two we had requested (five days prior). The lady up front said they compensated for it and then threw in an extra item. After doing the math, they charged us pretty much what it would've been anyways, and there was no extra item lol. There is some outdoor seating. Inside has a few chairs to sit in while waiting for your order. There's also a wall of AI generated signs inside. I wish them the best, though do think they need to either restructure their system to meet current demand, or be more upfront about how the food you order might not get to you. It simply isn't fair to people traveling from states away, especially when you don't tell them until they are paying for their order at the counter. When I arrived at 1:40pm, there were a lot of people in the small space waiting for their orders and people were dining outside. What a busy day for Jayd Bun!!! The staff member called my name stating that my order was ready and I paid for it. There is a surcharge for using credit cards. We brought our food over to Whalers Brewing Company and enjoyed it there with some drinks. We weren't the only ones that did that, I saw a few tables with Jayd Bun bags. I was lucky enough to receive a Mother's Day bag from Jayd Bun and it was such a wonderful experience! They were incredibly generous with the portions and even included beautiful flowers as a Mother's Day gift, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our first visit, and we planned ahead by ordering a few days out. We parked at Whalers, grabbed beers there, and then took the short walk over--something we noticed many other diners doing as well, which added to the communal vibe. This is truly handmade Chinese food, and you can tell immediately--from the textures to the flavors. The team was clearly working hard and running a tight operation. Our party of three shared everything: savory beef jin jins, chicken buns, ja jiang mian, and the hand-pulled noodles. Everything was well prepared, deeply flavorful, and very satisfying. Be aware that some dishes may lean a bit spicy for certain palates, but nothing felt unbalanced. Portions are generous. Highly recommended--we'll absolutely be back. read more
