Pork Buns, dumplings, peanut butter noodles and yo po noddles
    Jessica S.

I was lucky enough to receive a Mother's Day bag from Jayd Bun and it was such a wonderful experience! They were incredibly generous with the portions and even included beautiful flowers as a Mother's Day gift, which was such a thoughtful touch. The noodles had the perfect level of spice, and the peanut butter noodles were absolutely delicious. My daughter's favorite were the dumplings, and we both loved the buns! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We'll definitely be back!

Jayd Bun was voted number 2 Chinese restaurant in the U.S. by Yelp, so I had to go check them out. I tried to go in the winter but the snow storm was bad and I had to cancel my order. I finally was able to go recently and the hype is real. It's best that you pre-order through email the day prior, the cut off time is 4pm. They are quick and responsive via email. It's a take-out only restaurant but they have a small patio with a few picnic tables. There are breweries nearby; The Whalers is right next door. I ordered a bunch of food to try with the family. 1. Spicy yo po noodles - tangy noodles with bok choy, love the flavor and the thick handmade noodles 2. Sweet chili chicken jin jin - spicy savory open ended dumplings, mouthwatering good 3. Pork buns - delicious, fresh, and love the sauce it came with. 4. Ja Jen Men noodles - love that savory sweet sauce 5. Spicy wontons - filled with pork and spicy sauce, huge fan All were so good, my husband and I agree, best Chinese food we've ever had. We drove 2 hours from CT, he said if we lived closer we would be there all the time lol; bad for our waist and wallets lmao. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Took the hour & a half trek down to JAYD BUN in South Kingstown, RI for some buns & noods Placed our order two days in advance & damn, it was worth every mile. We were greeted with smiling faces at pickup plus a visit from the one & only Chef Joe, who even tossed in a couple magic tricks for extra flavor We also bumped into the Fresh Prince of Rhode Island Amir Henley while we were there We loaded up on buns, beef jin jins, ja jen noodles, peanut noodles, & the spicy yo po. Every dish was made fresh to order. The noodles were cooked perfectly & coated in rich house made sauces, while the buns & jin jins were bursting with flavor in every bite. This place absolutely kills it every single time & it's easy to see why they've won so many awards. The hard work, passion, & love they put into the food shines through in every dish Thank you Chef Joe, Chef Annie, & crew #RhodeIslandEats #FoodieFinds #AsianFoodLover #SupportLocalRestaurants #Foodstagram

If worth the hype could be wrapped up in a meal...it would be this one. We emailed earlier in the week to make sure our order was in. We got a mix of buns, jin Jins, and noodles. Our friends picked it up for us and delivered it to CT and it was STILL WARM. THAT is how fresh we are talking here. There wasn't a bad bite to be had. The buns went soft with great filling. The dumplings had a lot of flavor and were so balanced. The noodles had a great texture. My husband was all about that sauce and I'm now so focused on going back for the spicy noodles. We can't wait to go back.

Here's the thing: Put aside the fact Chef Joe, Annie, JinJin, and the entire Jayd Bun team are very talented, genuine, and kind people. This isn't just great, quality food, this is a culinary EXPERIENCE. Never tasted anything like it and doubt I will again. If you have any second thoughts, don't. JUST GO!! Thank you to everyone at Jayd Bun for everything. Can't wait to get back. Love, Alex & Danielle

First time visiting, ordered a few days ahead and pickup was seamless. The food alone is deserving of all the hype it gets, and the owner was phenomenal. We will be back! Hands down best Chinese food I've ever had!

    October noodle. My absolute favorite

This food is worth waiting for and worth traveling for. We emailed our order 5 days out and added on two days later. There were no issues with our order and it was ready on time. The food is fresh and so delicious. Hands down one of my favorite restaurants. We ordered and October noodle, Jin jin dumplings, veggie buns, pork buns and a Jayd Noodle. The food easily fed six people. The staff are incredibly friendly. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and try it! You won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately underwhelming. We ordered two of the Jayd Fusion and were told upon pickup they had run out. We'd even placed our order five days beforehand just in case. We get they disclaim that the order isn't guaranteed, but I don't necessarily understand the point in ordering ahead then. Also beware there is 3% credit card up charge, which does add up with the prices. The food itself was good. Nothing mindblowing, we got the Yopo, pancakes, pork buns, veggies buns, and peanut butter noodles. The yopo was probably the most unique. The peanut butter noodles lacked something, perhaps salt. I will say, the noodles are made in house and texturally are great. The scallion pancakes were tasty and unique, though not at all crispy, and we only got the one order out of the two we had requested (five days prior). The lady up front said they compensated for it and then threw in an extra item. After doing the math, they charged us pretty much what it would've been anyways, and there was no extra item lol. There is some outdoor seating. Inside has a few chairs to sit in while waiting for your order. There's also a wall of AI generated signs inside. I wish them the best, though do think they need to either restructure their system to meet current demand, or be more upfront about how the food you order might not get to you. It simply isn't fair to people traveling from states away, especially when you don't tell them until they are paying for their order at the counter. I hate this word, but i fear it couldn't meet the hype. Maybe it was just an off day. Regardless, if you live within 30 minutes, it's probably worth going. But I wouldn't recommend going too far out of your way.

Great food and great people. No wonder why you get noticed. Congrats on your James Beard nomination. If you weren't so far from my home, i would eat here every week. See ya soon

Love the whole process of getting this take out. Signs are hilarious, especially the one star yelp review. My favorites were the Jin Jin chicken , scallion pancakes and pork buns.

    Mystery madness!!!

What is this mystery bag business all about?! Well if you have been following Jayd Bun on social media one knows that when someone is unable to make it for their order the fun begins! A quick post to Facebook and boom, call to score a great free treat!! Snow days seem to generate the most action and boy you have to be quick! If you think getting through for a regular order is tough, well step up and accept the mystery bag call in experience!! Was able to score this sweet treat on a snowy cold evening! After a flurry of calls I was able to score a bag on the second round posted for the night. While some may say it is careless to drive in icy road conditions, I felt this one was worth it for calming my tastebuds down from their lack of Jayd Bun (it has been a bit since I have been in)! As always, the welcome is gracious, fun and friendly upon arrival and always good to hear and see the family at work. I didn't get a chance to catch a picture, but there was a chopstick snowman in progress with the little one! Appreciate the experience along with the amazing food that has propelled Jayd Bun to one of the best in the nation! Truly appreciate all the great work and the amazing food!

Quality is in the process and ingredients and lovely food is made with love. That's all you'll find here. Great buns, the best, I've tried em all from SF to NYC. Great slices, dumplings are fire & handmade fresh. Worth the wait all day

So finally! After seeing this on social media and reading raving reviews regarding how this place is the #2 Chinese Restaurant in the US, I finally bit the bullet and drove 45 minutes to try this award winning restaurant. And........ it did NOT disappoint! They say you need to email your order or however other ways but, I called and picked up an hour after I ordered. So yes, you can order ahead and pick up same day. Best to order on lunch because after 3pm they advise it gets busy and might not be able to accommodate. I came a little later than my pick up time but, the food was still warm. The buns were soft, juicy, chewy and so full of flavors, specially when you add their house sauce (soy). Perfection! The dumplings were delicious and they are bigger than regular store bought ones. The noodles were very tasty and just the right amount of spice. It was chewy and not dry. I definitely say, it is a MUST TRY! Though the drive is long, the food quality and quantity is worth it. I will definitely be going back for more! We ordered the: 6pc Pork Buns - $18.88 Jin Jins Savory Pork Dumplings (8pcs descent size) $14.88 Spicy Yo Po Noodles $16.88 FYI, it is near Whalers Brewery.

Most items on the menu are in the $12-14 range, are they entree sized? Would say the october noodle and pan fried buns be enough for 2?

Most people can only eat 3-4 buns and they are stuffed! Some can eat more or less. So I would say it’s enough for 2 unless you want to have plenty of leftovers! I highly recommend the JAYD fusion of you haven’t had it and it’s a great appetizer as… Read more

Unfortunately everything has gluten. Our tomato soup however without the noodles is probably the best tomato soup you will ever have. So you can’t go wrong with that option.

We asked the server for the check since we need to leave soon after to make it on time for an event, and she gave us the check, and some to-go containers in case we needed it, which was very considerate! The appetizer were solid, good, but you MUST try the ramen. Spicy ramen was worth it if you need a good hangover soup or super chilly, or just want to sweat~ the egg and corn pieces were such soothing ingredients ~ Will be back for sure, even if the drive and parking is a hassle. I've seen the place before on yelp with good reviews and wanted to try for a while but since i don't go to newport often we decided to give it a try since we were in the area. It's a ramen shop in busy newport touristic area by the port. It's located inside the plaza and has parkings as well. Its was busy time of the week so the parking was full so we ended up finding a street parking a but far and walked over. Since its was nice out they had outside patio seatings as well but it was busy so we sat inside. Inside is decent size and has multiple seatings and tables that accommodates medium size groups. They seem to also have their own ramen noodle making area where the worker is hand making noodles and you can see them through the glass. We sat down and looked at the menu. They offer variety of drinks including bubble tea, alcoholic drinks and refresher as well with some interesting flavors. There are some appetizers and ramen noodle options. We tried the gochujang chicken bao bun, and spicy chili dumplings as appetizers.i tried their hong kong bubble tea and got the tonkotsu ramen. Gochujang chicken bao bun was tasty. Nice and fluffy bun and flavorful fried chicken paired well. I was expecting more or gochujang flavor but it actually tasted more like buffalo or hot chicken. Spicy chili dumplings were okay. Hong kong tea had good tea flavor and boba was chewy and sweet. The tonkotsu ramen was quite good. Flavorful pork broth paired well with garlic oil. Noodles were firm and thin as they seemed to be hand made. Chasu was fatty and flavorful. Egg was good but could use a bit more flavor if they were be marinated and should be a bit more yolky for ramen eggs. Overall a solid ramen. Service was good and the waitress was attentive. When i mentioned that i had to leave in a timely manner as we were going to be on a sunset cruise she brought the check right away with some bag and bowls to take the leftover home which was thoughtful. Overall we had a great experience at the restaurant and i was quite impressed by their ramen especially considering the options available in RI. Service was good and was not too busy despite being touristic area. This may be one of top spot for ramen in RI currently.

I just came here a couple of days ago for a Yelp event (please check that review for my thoughts on…read morethe pork bun and Sapporo-style ramen on their menu). I liked it so much that I decided to come back and dragged my co-worker with me. The interior is sort of a long narrow-ish setup, with seating on one side, and the ordering counter on the other side. Edison-style bulbs lined the area, providing a warm, orange-ish light. Cozy. You walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number and bring your order to your table. I ordered the blackened tuna bun and O.G. Miso ramen (with an addition of pork and egg), with a Yuki Tora sake. The tuna bun was tasty. I believe the tuna was aburi torched, and it was topped with carrots, scallions, wakame, and sesame seeds. It also had eel sauce and wasabi, which created a great flavor combination between the piercing spice of wasabi and the sweetness of eel sauce. The O.G. Miso ramen used a miso broth, with carrots, cabbage, shiitake, topped with scallions, sesame seeds, and a piece of nori. And of course, I added pork and an egg to it. I love shiitake in my ramen broth, as it adds a bit of savoriness, and also provides a bit of meaty texture. The miso flavor in this broth is much more prominent compared to the Sapporo-style ramen, however, I found Sapporo-style broth much more complex and balanced. I think what I was missing in this would be a drizzle of sesame oil. I also got a Yuki Tora nigori sake with my meal, which I found I loved from the Yelp event a couple of days ago. One with the meal, and another one as just dessert after the meal. Also convinced my co-worker to try it, and he also liked it. This place is definitely worth the visit. In general, you won't find ramen this good unless you're willing to go into the city and pay as much for an hour's worth of parking as your meal costs.

The vibe was very laid back on a 2-3ish afternoon. Parking was street parking, but I believe there's public parking around the corner. The restaurant is pretty spacious. You order first and then sit with a number and the server comes with the food/drinks. The tablet does ask for a tip before you even get served. As my personal rule, I never tip before finishing my meal. I ordered the house ramen and a mapo mushroom omusubi. I like how the ramen uses local veggies. The pork was fine, but I didn't like its somewhat dry texture. The broth was a bit too strong and/or salty for my liking, but I don't hold that against it--it reminds me of ramen I've had in Japan, which is a positive if you're looking for something more authentic. (However, I am finding that a lot of ramen just isn't for me!) I got the mapo mushroom onigiri for takeout. I liked it! It's a little spicy and quite flavorful, pairing with the rice well. All-in-all it was a very laidback experience and I would want coming back here again if I'm in the area.
