Has always been my go to, all 4 years of college and even now after! Fried dumplings are top notch! Great portion sizes and fast service!

A great place for Chinese take out in South County. The lady at the counter is not the friendliest, but the food is usually very good and consistent. I always ask for low salt, low oil and they do make the food lighter. This last time, we ordered the L25 lunch (pork with bean curd, but with the protein being substituted with chicken) was nicely prepared, not too salty with nice pieces of shredded chicken and white bean curd. Usually any phone order is ready within 15-20 minutes. read more

Campus restaurant. Awful. I have been twice now, and both dishes were bad. General Tso's chicken was small pieces of chicken in batter deep fried so hard, I could not chew them. The fried rice tasted of nothing. Very light in color, it didn't taste of anything. The wonton soup was 3 little soggy wonton in chicken stock. Very low quality, and salty like a bullion cube. I couldn't eat it. Second day, sushi lunch. Miss soup had almost nothing in it. Weak, not hot, and barely any tofu or Wakame. Sushi rolls were mushy and fell apart trying to eat them. Avocado was mushy and the rice was soft. Not a good experience. read more

Peking Tokyo - General Tso small, hard pieces of chicken. Inedible. - Chinese Near Me - Kingston, Rhode Island

"This is the definition of a hole in the wall " Is somehow an understatement. This is like a private portal into Tokyo. The staff feel like long lost friends that's you've just never actually met right until then. The food is exquisite. And I DO NOT use caps or that word lightly. Fresh beautiful sushi in a surprisingly timely fashion for the quality and art work of what they're giving you. The tuna is top notch. I've been there 2 times already this month since hearing about it. And I will make it a goal to treat myself at least! Twice a month. White tail tuna ceviche. Tuna wasabi appt. are absolute musts. I'll update this when I return. Thank you everyone !!! read more

Normally we have good food at a reasonable price. Its fresh and hot. But tonight we got the chicken broccoli and the chicken was so tough that it was not chewable. Im serious. We were so disappointed and could not chew the chicken. We tried but probably won't return for a long while. We know the cook could tell how tough the chicken was. He had to know. read more

Great food deserves a 5 star. The dumplings are the best I've ever had. Really worth getting

Delicious local Chinese food! Always fresh and hot. Perfectly cooked and always ready when we get there to pick it up!

Fast service and love the lunch specials. You get a lot of food for the price and it's very fast service. Recommend the sesame chicken!

As a South Kingstown resident, I was heartbroken when Chens Wakefield closed for good. It took me a while to find a replacement, and this is it!! I love this place. Lots of flavor, never have to wait. My favorite is the Beef and Broccoli. This should be everyone's go to place for Chinese food in South County. read more

Service was terrible that it made my whole day terrible. She never said a hello word or thanked me. She even took 30 minutes to make my food. Who came later than me got their food in like 5-10minutes. She is a woman who is only strong to the weak. Probably upbrought wrongly. By the way the food was also terrible. read more

Decent Chinese food nothing specIal neither good nor bad. I will say the people who work there are never happy. Just seem mad every time I'm there to pick up. I try to cheer them up with no effect. I'm Sad. read more

One of the best things about working in a new town is discovering places to eat during the ever-so-exciting Friday lunches out. With my new gig at the University of Rhode Island, I am in walking distance to the Emporium - which has all of the chain places like Subway, Quizno's etc. And then there is Peking Tokyo. It was difficult not to be lured into this Chinese place. Their vents are pointing right at the parking lot so I get a nice whiff of it all everyday. So let's get down to the meals. The interesting thing is that they actually sell sushi and it's decent. Nothing crazy or fancy but if you're in the mood for a basic type of roll, this place will satisfy your craving. The prices are decent and their lunch specials ($7) is the best value. You get to choose a main dish, rice and soup. My favorite part about this place is their brown rice. First, it's awesome that they even have this as an option. Secondly, the rice is made EXCEPTIONALLY well. Like, I've tried to make brown rice fluffy numerous times and Peking Tokyo definitely has be out-brown riced. It's a Chinese restaurant in the middle of a college campus so don't expect anything fancy, especially when it comes to the service. Try their General Tso's, it's stellar. read more

We live in Chinatown, Philadelphia, so we had few expectations when we walked into Peking-Tokyo restaurant in Kingston Rhode Island. I ordered the pork with mixed vegetables and my partner had the tofu and broccoli. We ordered steamed edamame to share. It was delicious! No frills, not even clean tables, but we ate every bite! My pork was tender, flavorful, and not over-salted. It had green peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, and steamed celery which had so much flavor. My partner's tofu was beautifully cooked and his steamed broccoli was crisp yet tender. What a surprise! read more

I really like the food here. We get take-out a couple of times a month from Peking Tokyo, always from the Chinese menu so I can't speak about the Japanese offerings. This is by far the best Chinese I've found in South County, and is good by any standard. The people that run it I think are a mom and pop and son situation. I like that the kitchen is open, right on the other side of the counter so you can everything that's going on. The kitchen looks clean and organized which is always a good thing. One of our favorite items is their fried dumplings. They are right up there with any of the better ones I've had, and that includes places in NYC Chinatown and Boston's. The dipping sauce for the dumplings is not just soy sauce, like most places - it's loaded with finely diced fresh ginger, some scallions, and tastes phenomenal. The vegetable fried rice is a winner too. Lots of fresh veggies, clean tasting, not greasy, just delicious. I also really like the crispy beef dish which is tender strips of beef in a crispy coating and sliced veggies, all in a tasty sauce. None of the sauces are too heavy or overwhelming, and everything has a distinct flavor so one dish doesn't taste just like something else. I'm a big fan and recommend it highly. read more

Definitely love this restaurant! For someplace that's in the Emporium, it's awesome. I've absolutely loved everything I've gotten from there, especially the sushi. I love their lunch sushi deal (three rolls and soup for $9.95). I'm also a fan of their pork dumpling appetizer. Make sure you get the guy with the "Git-R-Done" hat on to make your sushi. My boyfriend ordered sushi there when he wasn't working and apparently it was AWFUL. I think that most people just go here for the Chinese food, but do NOT discount their sushi. It looks like the sushi would be terrible, but I always have to get some every time I'm near URI. I probably ordered the lunch special at least 15 times last semester. read more

So when i first came in the lady gave me a nasty attitude and then i waited an hour and a half for chicken and broccoli that was hard and tasted gross. I had to ask multiple times when the food would be done and now my stomach hurts. hate it here read more

The wind chill factor made it close to 0 degrees and put my friend and me in dire need of some tasty soup. We went off to campus for a familiar destination that turned out to be closed. Cold and hungry - Peking Tokyo, right there and open - we'll try it. I ordered the beef noodle soup and sour spicy cucumber. My friend had the wonton noodle soup and an order of summer rolls. The sour spicy cucumber was delicious and refreshing with a slight kick. I would order that again in a second. The summer rolls were borderline okay, but I wouldn't consider ordering the a second time. They were small and dry and sloppily put together. The beef noodle soup had thick udon style noodles. The broth was passable but not fantastic but the beef was tender and flavorful. Our order exceeded $25 which got us a free order of fried rice. The rice was a sizable portion, tasty, and was more in line with what you'll find in bigger city's Chinatowns than the typical South County fried rice offerings. The menu is vast, and there were a couple of other dishes I'd like to try. I'd certainly go to Peking Tokyo again and will be trying other items when I do. read more

The more I eat here, the more I like the place. Just recently started ordering sushi. I'm a big fan of the sashimi/avocado salads. You can get them with tuna or salmon and chopped avocado and cucumber, mixed with spicy dressing (basically spicy sauce mixed with flying fish roe and lemon juice), served in an avocado peel on top of a bed of lettuce. Delicious and healthy. I'm also a big fan of the veggie mei fun, full of napa cabbage, broccoli, and other nice veggies. You can order it with scrambled egg or without. (I always get the egg). The menu isn't terribly exciting, and service is slow at lunchtimes, but the food is fresh and tasty. read more

Really good food for a decent price! The sushi and Chinese food is always fresh. The lunch special is an awesome deal. If not, the combo platters during dinner is also good. My personal favorite is their general tso 's chicken. They do take awhile to make my food, but at least I know it's fresh unlike the Chinese fast food places that serve food that's been out for hours. read more

So disgusting. Food came in 10 mins looking like it was sitting forever from a past order. Rudest woman on phone. Phone was broken badly and she was screaming in my ear. Gave me the wrong order and would not bring me the new dish. read more

I wish I had not wasted money and now I fear that my new year is off to a bad start :) I cannot believe what was delivered to my door, and I am not exactly a picky person. It seemed like because it was a delivery, they didn't care one bit what they packaged up. Food was paid for and customer was 4 miles away....I'm not exactly going to go out in 23° weather while quarantining to demand a refund. read more

Consistent. I like the sushi over many equally starred restaurants. The Shrimp Tempura is very good. Gives you what you would hope from considering its an on campus- no frills chinese shop. Would recommend. read more

I'm a URI college student so i love inexpensive yet delicious chinese food. I come here frequently and every single time i am greeted with so much negativity. Nobody smiles back to me or says "you're welcome", when i call to place a pick up or delivery I am rushed on the phone and have been hung up on before. I called them today and the person who i spoke to cursed at me and was so rude. I tried to stay very nice the whole time but was treated so poorly. I keep eating here cause it's really good food but they need to REALLY fix how they talk to their customers cause I am very unhappy. read more

Hi, I had ordered what should of been general tos chicken 7.95 charged 12.95, sweet and sour chicken 7.95 charged 9.95, combo plates with fried rice and egg roll all I got was white rice, eggplant with garlic sauce 6.95 charged 8.95. tip 5.00 I called to complain after opening the bag, all I got was a rude person. TERRIBLE service. The employees were not helpful and my food took OVER 2 hours to come. I was told it was going to take 45 minutes and I called an hour after I placed my order and they told me it would be delivered in 5 minutes. She lied. Serivice SUCKS. Tonight I got growled at by the lady that works there. I called to make a delivery order and when I asked them to break down how much each thing was I got attitude accompanied by a growl. She then handed the phone to the man and had him deal with it. When I explained that there was no need for her to get nasty with me his excuse was that it was a busy time. Chickens good though #rawr read more

Horrible service. I ordered delivery on campus and never even received it then was hung up on.

I've been eating at this joint for about 2 years and I thought it was pretty good. Well last night I had quite the experience. I placed a pick-up order for 1 Sweet Potato Roll and the lady said 10 minutes-didn't give me a order number or ask my name. When I went into pick it up I noticed they were really busy which didn't surprise me. I went up to the counter and said 'I placed a pick up order for the sweet potato roll'. Without even looking at me she just said '$4.36'. I gave her a 10 and she gave me change, I put some in the tip jar and walked away. I assumed my food wasn't ready so I went to stand with the others. After 20 minutes went by she finally looked at me and rudely said 'what are you waiting for'...I said 'the sweet potato roll'. She said "oh that's right here" (it was ready the whole time) and said "that will be $4.36." I said 'no I already paid you' and she started arguing with me that I didn't pay her! I told her over and over that I placed the order came in, paid, put money in the tip jar, waited 20 minutes and now i'm getting yelled at over $4.36! I EVEN PUT IN MONEY FOR A TIP! Did she really think I was trying to steal a sweet potato roll? I totally understand what happened which was she never made eye contact with me in the beginning so I didn't look familiar to her, but she handled it so poorly and rudely that I will never go back to this place. It was really embarrassing and I wish I just left the food on the counter and walked away. oh and p.s. since I had all that time to stand and wait I was watching them cook in the open style kitchen that they have an noticed a HUGE slab of meat sitting half on a cardboard box half on the floor the entire time I was there....um.... really glad I don't eat meat. Bye-a-later Peking Tokyo. read more

Very good Chinese. Haven't tried the sushi...although I always see college girls enjoying it when I go in to get my take-out. I'm loving the dumplings and the sizzling beef. There are also ALWAYS Chinese students eating here....tells you something. Inexpensive and delightful. The sushi chef could wear a smile once in a while...It's always nice to be greeted with friendliness, something they could perhaps figure out. But all in all, it's a good deal and good Chinese food....especially for this college town where quantity almost always trumped quality. I'd say, they give you both! read more

Their food is good but TERRIBLE service. Called because delivery took over an hour and got hung up on 3 times.

Greatest little Asian restaurant! Always quick service and quality food. The employees are some of the hardest working I've ever seen. They never stop! They're open late so it's always my go to on my way home from work. Don't be fooled by some of the negative reviews. It's on a college campus, so I'm sure it was just an ungrateful naive college kid. The employees are so friendly. Always eager to please. Many folks and friends of mine who don't use yelp are regulars and happy customers! 100% recommend. read more

Don't get me wrong, Peking Tokyo is one of the better Chinese Restaurants that I eat at. The food is always terrific, but I never understand why everything always seems to take so long here. It's not uncommon to have to wait 20 minutes after placing your order. read more

a little gem on the URI campus. I was pretty wary of this place because of its name, but I was surprised to find their sushi quite good, especially if you get their roll lunch special (two rolls for $8-ish), which makes for a satisfying meal. The fish is fresh, the sushi made to order, and they have all the standard rolls (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, etc) and then some. I have only tried one dish from their Chinese menu (roast duck noodle soup) and it was just ok--broth not as flavorful as I'd like, and not much meat on the duck bones...but I'd come back (and often do) for the sushi. read more
