When this restaurant opened a year back it was pretty good..now it's awful. There is no flavor in sauces and very little is given. Broccoli is always very hard .... When you order take out check your bag, IT Rarely has everything, especially the tiny cups of sauces. I was there on Friday night at 6pm 2 booths were taken, and 6 people on bar. The service is usually not the best, the lady there seems to hate her job and has a little bit of an attitude; she might be the owner because she's always there. This past Sunday, I placed a takeout order with the Dragon Palace. The food was very disappointing: it did not taste fresh, and the egg rolls were actually chewy. We had to find something else to eat. So, I contacted the business and spoke with a manager named Sean. He did not sound very concerned, and in fact at no time during our conversation did he apologize for our poor experience, nor did he make any effort to keep me as a customer. What he did do was inform me that the restaurant would not do anything about my complaint because they require that complaints be lodged at the time of the problem. When I asked him if his business was interested in maintaining good customer relations, he pretty much said no. I then informed him that I would be taking my business elsewhere and I would be writing a review. He ended the conversation with an "I don't care" attitude. This business does not value its customers, and based on my conversation with Sean, their food is served with a large dollop of disrespect. This was our first time dining-in and we had a pleasant lunch. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered off their lunch menu which came with a choice of soup (guess what they were - yep, the holy trinity of wonton, hot & sour, or egg drop) and chicken fried rice. We opted for the wonton and - I am pleased and surprised to say - it was quite good! In fact, one of the best wonton soups I've had in a while. Fresh chicken broth, full of napa cabbage, and wontons that actually tasted like something more than soggy wrapper dough. So an extra star just for that! I had my benchmark shrimp with lobster sauce - it was serviceable and adequate but stunningly monochromatic (shades of brown ... could've used a few peas and diced carrots to brighten it a bit) ; my daughter had the chicken with garlic sauce and this quite tasty (and colorful). Have tried Dragon Palace in Coventry a few years back and wasn't too impressed. Decided to give the North Kingstown location a try. Large restaurant appearing to be a nice clean open space. There is plenty of parking in the back. The food is ok. I was disappointed by the $17 salmon teriyaki dish. The piece of salmon was very generous, but it was so overcooked that you needed a sip of water with each bite to swallow it. My husband loves the orange chicken and it has actual orange peel on it....so you know it's legit. Did you know you can get a scorpion bowl for 2 to go? You should add that too your order...you won't regret it. You wouldn't expect a Chinese restaurant to have sushi...or good sushi for that matter. I have ordered take out from here twice. Parking lot is big, nice is inside and I can't wait for it to open! The waitresses at check out were pleasant as well as when they answered the phone to take my order. I have gotten a mix of the Japanese and the Chinese. The sushi is always amazing and fresh. I am addicted to the mango lobster roll. Crab rangoons and steamed dumplings are another go to. The shrimp and eggplant tempura... delish. I have frequently visited Dragon Palace and unfortunately the last visit was just that, my last. I called in an order of pork fried rice for my child as a take out order. When I picked up they confirmed my name and the ordered item. Upon arriving home we quickly realized it was the wrong item. It was pork fried rice and had shrimp also, like a seafood fried rice. My child's allergic to shrimp so i immediately called the location to advise them of this and request a refund as we couldn't have this in our house due food allergy. Upon calling the store I was handed off to 3 to 4 different young staff members that were trying to problem solve. After some length of time I asked to speak to the manager and was told she's too busy to talk now. I then requested a callback realizing yes it could be a busy dinner rush. Two hours later I felt compelled to call back asking for the stand in manager Heidi as the manager I was told was on vacation. Keep in mind this was all over a $12.15 charge. Heidi finally came to the phone where she became abrupt and argumentative. She kept saying I would have to come in person for a refund. Let me get this straight, you charged me for something I didnt order and want me to physically come back to you and waste my gas money and time, which at this point I already invested hours...that didn't seem right. She told me to come back in person and she doesn't have time for this anymore as she has tables waiting and HUNG UP ON ME ! Wow, what a bad move! I then called the Coventry Dragon Palace where David so graciously called the NK restaurant and within 10 minutes I received my money back on my card I originally paid with. With the high cost of everything and so many great restaurants locally I will never be returning to this location and I urge Heidi to search for a new job opportunity. I went to pagoda something across the street Saturday, and here Sunday, because someone said it was better. It is a little more fancy, but I dont think it was as good. I got hon su gai both places, and I got sushi. The waitress put in my order wrong and it took a half hour to get the 2 smallest portions of sushi I have had outside of an all you can eat buffet. The rice was half the size of my pinkie, and the fish was as thin as a nickel. Very small, and the white tuna was wet and a little fishier than I'd like. The hon su gai is basically battered chicken over vegetables in brown sauce. Chicken was little pieces in batter, and the vegetables were raw, including asparagus stems, which could choke a horse. I just wanted to come back and update this, I still find every order from this place has the kind of quantity you'd expect from a good Chinese place and the quality is always above average but what I find extra impressive is how well they handle precautions for COVID, even on a normal day everything is efficient and well managed for take out but on New Year's Eve they clearly anticipated a rush and further improved their process. Tried the new Dragon Palace this weekend. The Chinese food was good- sweet & sour chicken had too much breading not much chicken, chicken lo mein & fried rice were very good. A member of my family had two Japanese dishes that they report were very good. Very long wait for the food- was unable to reach anyone on the phone so walked in to order at 5:30 PM, and returned when they said it would be ready- 6 PM- it wasn't. It was after another 15 minutes. They may very well improve as time goes on, and I hope they do. read more

This review is for take-out only. We've ordered here about 5-6 times. Each time I've wondered why. Crab Rangoon was sickly sweet, no crab flavor. A beef dish had hardly any beef and lacked spices. Large Vegetable chop suey was all sprouts and onions (cheap ingredients) and 3 pea pods. For 9.75. General Tsao's chicken was mostly breading with a speck of chicken inside and a sauce that tasted of cough syrup. Hot and sour soup lacked mushrooms, tiny corn, and tofu. Again, mostly sprouts. Singapore Mei Fun was bland (it's spicy, normally) and had scant amounts of protein ingredients (pork, egg, shrimp). They use cheap ingredients in bulk and charge NY prices for them. No more for us, regardless of how much we like Chinese food. read more
