    Vegetable lo mein.
    Paul G.

This was a to go pickup. My wife ordered vegetable lo mein. There were little to no vegetables and all noodles. The only vegetables we were able to see were some shaved carrots and a few onions, but there were no greens. Service was fine and we were not in the restaurant so we can't tell you about the ambience.

I woke up with a craving for wonton soup and, a few hours later, found myself driving by New Dragon. It had been about four years since my last visit, and WOW--what a fantastic remodel and the food was even more delicious than I remembered. The hostess gave us the option to sit upstairs, on the main floor, or outside. Each area had its own stylish vibe and comfort, a big change from the plain booths I remembered. The upstairs had a whimsical, stylish dim bar and lounge area. Since we had the kids with us, we chose a comfortable booth on the main floor. Service was great and attentive, with our drinks and food arriving quickly. Since we had already eaten lunch, we only ordered wonton soup and an appetizer of beef teriyaki sticks. Seriously, YUM! The wonton soup was delicious, featuring perfectly tight wonton dumplings, bok choy, and tender pork slices (not fatty at all!). The beef teriyaki sticks were the highlight--perfectly cooked and tender with a nice crispy edge and sweet flavor. Although this was a quick snack stop for us, we left feeling stuffed and satisfied. Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely come in for dinner and report back!

    6 Piece Fried Dumplings

We loved it. The spring rolls were larger than other local Chinese food restaurants in the area but the dough is thicker than we prefer for fried dumplings. The shrimp egg foo young and scallops with mixed Chinese vegetables was delicious. We ordered takeout and service was excellent. We'll definitely return soon.

    Singapore Mei Fun
    Rebecca B.

Ok so I ordered again! Boneless spare ribs, Singapore mei fun and fried dumplings. Last time I wasn't so impressed with the fried rice. This time, the fried rice was the best part of what I ordered. The egg roll tasted much better this time but it was barely even warm. The boneless spare ribs were thin and overcooked and dry. I will never order that again from here and that's if I even order again. The Singapore mei fun is lacking in flavor. It may need to be stirred more when cooking to mix the spices better, I'm not sure. I am sure that's not an order again item either. The dumplings were made well, good flavor, not extremely greasy. Those and the rice were the win for me today. I'm disappointed with the lack of consistency here. The difference in the rice and egg roll today is way off from last time. I'm not sure I'm willing to waste money trying to find what they can actually make vs what they're not so good at. Especially with the lack of consistency. I mean it's fried rice.... That should be a staple for any Chinese restaurant. Here's some pics of what I got. Tread carefully here. You never know what you're going to get.

L9. Chow Mein chicken and green beans

Got the lunch special with chow mein. I was really surprised to see celery in a thick sauce beside crunch noodles. I tried to mix the two and it wasn't very odd. Not chow mein with normal noodles. The chicken and green beans was very very good as well as the egg rolls. The spicy mustard also packs a hard punch which I loved! Just be aware of the chow mein situation

Weirdest miso soup I have ever eaten. Way too much tofu and the tofu is weird it's not soft and silky, and food in general isn't great.

Upon our 5:30 p.m. arrival, my wife and I were immediately seated in the far corner of the outdoor patio. From the beginning, the host's demeanor came across as cold and dismissive. When she told us to "enjoy," her tone made it clear she didn't mean what she said. When our waitress arrived, she wanted to explain what the daily specials were, but before she began, we politely asked if we could move to another section of the patio so we could sit in the sun. After speaking with the host, she returned with what I can only describe as a smart-ass attitude, saying, "Those tables are for people who actually have reservations." We completely understood if those tables were reserved, but there was absolutely no reason for the condescending attitude. Instead, we were moved to another corner table, and after the host decided to tell us "enjoy" with the same condescending tone. Once we sat down, I asked the waitress if she could explain the daily specials, but then she quickly replied, "now that we're at a different table, the other waitress/waiter will have to do that" since it wasn't her "zone". As we sat there, we couldn't help but notice what appeared to be a noticeable difference in how other guests were treated. The tables that gave off what I would describe as a more "upper class" appearance, well-dressed white guests who appeared more affluent, seemed to receive a warmer welcome and far more attentive service. Whether that was intentional or not, we couldn't shake the feeling that we were viewed differently. I'm white myself, but perhaps my tattoos or the fact that I was dining with my Brazilian wife caused us to be perceived differently. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that we left feeling like we didn't fit the restaurant's idea of its preferred clientele. For example, our waitress never offered us the option of tap or bottled water, while nearby "upper class" tables were given that choice. Around 6:10 p.m., we ordered appetizers, which took roughly 20 minutes to arrive, while tables seated after us were already receiving their food. We then placed our entrée orders and waited... and waited... and waited. In addition, we found a hair in the salad that we ordered, and when we brought it up to the waitress, her only answer was "that's impossible, everyone in the kitchen wears hairnets... At approximately 6:40 p.m., the hostess came to our table and explained there had been a "mix-up" because we had switched tables, causing our entrée order to be delayed. That explanation made very little sense. How does simply switching tables result in an order being delayed by that much? It pointed to a serious lack of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. By approximately 6:50 p.m., I believe a manager came to our table and asked if there was anything he could do. At that point, I bluntly asked for the check because waiting well over an hour for our food was simply unacceptable. Ironically, our entrées finally arrived around 7:00 p.m., but by then we had completely lost our appetite. I sent the food back and again requested the check. Even then, it still took another 10 minutes to receive it. To the hostess's credit, she apologized, and I told her I appreciated the apology. However, I also explained that this restaurant clearly has a major communication problem. More importantly, the dismissive attitude we experienced from the moment we walked in set the tone for the entire evening and left us feeling unwelcome. In a nutshell: We waited an hour and a half for our food we never received, we were mistreated, felt discriminated, and there were still PLENTY of open tables in the patio facing the sun. This was our first visit to Narragansett, and unfortunately it was not the welcome we expected. I didn't even bother asking if the restaurant offered a military discount because, by that point, I already felt like we didn't belong. We will NEVER return.

I'm not sure how much we paid per night, as it was a rewards stay. In addition, we have the IHG credit card so one of our nights was free (we stayed for five nights). Pros: -Fast and friendly check-in -Nicely sized room, with a mini fridge and a microwave -We had a king room and it also had a couch -Good AC, which was important because it was 90° for the first part of our stay -Good water pressure in shower -Super comfortable bed -There's a pool, we didn't use it though -We asked for fresh towels one day and they were able to bring some to the room for us. I'm not sure if housekeeping was supposed to be daily or not, but we only got housekeeping service one day out of our five there; to be fair, we had the Do Not Disturb sign up for a few hours in the AM while we were getting ready, though. Cons: -Hotel is definitely older. The elevator is a bit of a walk from the lobby, but there's a side entrance (which is near the elevator) so we would park near there. The hallways are kind of dingy and they were hot, but the rooms themselves have a good AC unit. -Bathroom is pretty small. It does have a bathtub/shower combo, vs just a shower, but the bathtub is also teeny; I needed my husband to help me out. -No free breakfast, which I knew going in. They do have an on-site Italian restaurant which looked pretty good, but it opens at 4pm daily, says Google. -The hotel is kind of hard to access from the road, if you're coming from the South; you either have to pass it, drive for a bit, and do a u-turn, or you can take a left (if heading north) and cut through the business plaza that's directly South of it. -One day none of our keycards would work ... Cole helped us fix the issue, which was, oddly enough, that if you keep the security lock on, it doesn't actually have a lock, BUT it will make it so no one's keycards work, except staff, it seemed. -Pro/con: wifi was fast and free but oddly enough, I couldn't stream anything on HBO Max on it; the app thought I was using a VPN. To get around that, I had to use my phone hotspot to download episodes of the shows I wanted to watch, then turn off wifi on my iPad. Very odd. I didn't have that issue with any other streaming app during our stay. Overall I would stay here again though, it was close to where we needed to be and the room was comfortable. We've also stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, which I liked, and the Holiday Inn Express in Warwick, which I did not like, and I would say this falls somewhere between those two.

I just came here a couple of days ago for a Yelp event (please check that review for my thoughts on…read morethe pork bun and Sapporo-style ramen on their menu). I liked it so much that I decided to come back and dragged my co-worker with me. The interior is sort of a long narrow-ish setup, with seating on one side, and the ordering counter on the other side. Edison-style bulbs lined the area, providing a warm, orange-ish light. Cozy. You walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number and bring your order to your table. I ordered the blackened tuna bun and O.G. Miso ramen (with an addition of pork and egg), with a Yuki Tora sake. The tuna bun was tasty. I believe the tuna was aburi torched, and it was topped with carrots, scallions, wakame, and sesame seeds. It also had eel sauce and wasabi, which created a great flavor combination between the piercing spice of wasabi and the sweetness of eel sauce. The O.G. Miso ramen used a miso broth, with carrots, cabbage, shiitake, topped with scallions, sesame seeds, and a piece of nori. And of course, I added pork and an egg to it. I love shiitake in my ramen broth, as it adds a bit of savoriness, and also provides a bit of meaty texture. The miso flavor in this broth is much more prominent compared to the Sapporo-style ramen, however, I found Sapporo-style broth much more complex and balanced. I think what I was missing in this would be a drizzle of sesame oil. I also got a Yuki Tora nigori sake with my meal, which I found I loved from the Yelp event a couple of days ago. One with the meal, and another one as just dessert after the meal. Also convinced my co-worker to try it, and he also liked it. This place is definitely worth the visit. In general, you won't find ramen this good unless you're willing to go into the city and pay as much for an hour's worth of parking as your meal costs.

The vibe was very laid back on a 2-3ish afternoon. Parking was street parking, but I believe there's public parking around the corner. The restaurant is pretty spacious. You order first and then sit with a number and the server comes with the food/drinks. The tablet does ask for a tip before you even get served. As my personal rule, I never tip before finishing my meal. I ordered the house ramen and a mapo mushroom omusubi. I like how the ramen uses local veggies. The pork was fine, but I didn't like its somewhat dry texture. The broth was a bit too strong and/or salty for my liking, but I don't hold that against it--it reminds me of ramen I've had in Japan, which is a positive if you're looking for something more authentic. (However, I am finding that a lot of ramen just isn't for me!) I got the mapo mushroom onigiri for takeout. I liked it! It's a little spicy and quite flavorful, pairing with the rice well. All-in-all it was a very laidback experience and I would want coming back here again if I'm in the area.
