We wanted some late night food and randomly found China Star III. I went without reading any reviews and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered a bunch of dishes and the employees/owners were very nice to let us stay and finish our food even after they had closed! Prices are very affordable and portions are big. Perfect for takeout. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again. read more

Good service, we came on Christmas Eve and the staff was so nice and accommodating. They were very helpful, despite closing soon, and the place was clean and cute. read more

BAD BAD BAD.....I could not stomach eating else. This was L19 General Tso's today. I could not find an actual chicken chunk, it was more like deep fried chicken skin in batter. Fried lice was ok BUT port egg roll was limp. My 1st and last time eating here. read more

Great lo mein, skewers, spring rolls and rangoons. Solid Chinese food at good prices and fast

The restaurant is conveniently located in the Bellevue Shopping Plaza. We were looking for Asian food and were happy that we found this place! read more

The family is so nice and the portions are huge. The dumplings whether made there or frozen, were great. The issue we had was the food was bland and needed some spice and stronger flavors. I realize they make food for tourists, and we are accustomed to more urban Chinese food. When we order again I would try the Szechuan dishes. read more

Always order take out from here - great portion, solid quality and the food generally comes out quick after you order! Built a bit more for takeout but you can dine in if you'd like (limited seating). read more

I mean there's no good Chinese here but don't order with high hopes. The crab wantons have nasty chunky seafood meat not crab and the chow mein is nothing that I would want again read more

China Star III - Egg noodle soup, vegetable fried rice and chicken with garlic sauxe - Chinese Near Me - Newport, Rhode Island

This place has solid Chinese food. It is my go to place in Newport. The food is hot and portions are a good size.

Family business very good and consistent great menu and service have been enjoying their food for years!!!

Fast service and yummy menu! Thank you China star! Love coming here when I'm in town.

My food was ok here. Better than average hot and sour soup. Flat roasted pork chow fun. It needed seasoning but soy sauce saved it. Staff of people bicker with each other. Ambience is crap. A working mans lunch spot essentially. Don't bring kids or old people here. It's a greasy joint and the kitchen should be closed off from the dining but it isn't. You hear every uttering. If I lived here I might order carry out. $17 for spring rolls, soup and pork chow fun. I really can't understand why this woman is such a bickering beeotch to her staff. She takes this joint down several notches that it didn't have to go. read more

Great service, quick turnaround time and delicious food. I will definitely be back :)

Great food! Very fast service, would definitely recommend and we will be back:) the staff is very nice and friendly as well! Super clean:)

Bought the lemon chicken for takeout. It could be the worst Chinese food I've ever had: little, pounded thin as a quarter, cutlets, heavily breaded and deep fried until dark brown, stiff, chewy, and dry. Served with a lemon syrup to drizzle over it. I've never seen ANY other dish prepared that way. I ate the first few I took out of the container, and switched to the egg roll, which was good. The Crab Rangoon was a pouch of cream cheese with crunchy, hard closures; no crab detected. I gave it 3 stars because my son liked the Lo Mein and my wife the combo meal of spare ribs and fried rice, and both liked the dumplings. I suggest asking for a detailed description of any dish you order, and don't expect what you've had elsewhere. Do NOT order the lemon chicken! read more

5 stars for great food AND great customer service!! We just moved to the area and tried China star III for the first time tonight. We had general tso chicken, pineapple sweet and sour chicken, ma po tofu, and pork lo mein. This was hands down the BEST ma po tofu I ever had. Lots of tofu and ground pork, excellent spice and flavor. Everything else tasted just as good! The only hiccup came when they forgot to include our lo mein (I get it, it happens!) but when I called, they were super apologetic and offered to deliver it to us! They came within 10 minutes AND they gave us complimentary drinks to make up for it. Super friendly service, everyone was so nice and accommodating. This is DEFINITELY our favorite new Chinese food spot. Thanks China Star III!!! read more

The food was amazing! They offered great customer service!!! Loved it, definitely coming back

Great food, service was awesome, we got our food in like 15 mins. Definitely would come back again!

This place is very neat, fast, and yummy. I love this place and the workers they are very friendly and always on the ball.

Food is ok. The hot and sour soup was mild spicy. Opt for hotter spice. The rice in the pork fried rice was a little gummy. I'm used to having this made to order so more crunchy. The wontons in the wonton soup had very thin wraps, very tasty. The pepper steak entree was good. read more

Great service! Food was out fast and fantastic! Orange chicken and fried rice were amazing

Putrid, horrid, stanky crab rangoons that contained only crab meat and had no cream cheese. The crab tasted terrible and was mealy. The owners are absolutely buggin' if they think I'm going to stomach this horse shit. I got Szechuan chicken and they gave me like four pieces of chicken and a load of vegetables that didn't even have spicy Szechuan sauce on them. As someone said in another review, I wish we could give zero stars because a scandalous place like this deserves nothing but hate. read more

Man, do you guys know how to do American Chinese food!!! Excellent! Best I've had in a long time.

I discovered this little hidden treasure recently (It's just off the main road, tourists, find it and avoid the inflated prices everywhere else), and I was not only pleasantly surprised, I was DELIGHTED. This is not a cheap walk-up with everything getting dry and sad in chafing dishes, this is genuine GOOD FOOD, cooked to order, plentiful, inexpensive AND delicious. There's plenty of seating and always a fair amount of amount of regulars there to enjoy the lunch SPECIALS (always a good sign). Do yourself a favor and find this place for yourself. It's not fancy and overpriced, it's genuine, simple and darn good, and if you arrive around noonish, there's a good chance you'll bump into me there. If you do, I'll buy you a Coke, feeling genuinely good that I helped you find them and they found you. read more

Great original Fall River Chow Mein, recipe from China Royal. Large portions and fast delivery!

Great food! Recommend the pad Thai and general Tso chicken. Also recommend the beef and green beans, forget the actual name but great flavor

This is a rebuttal to Viv P's bullshit story. First off, your family don't have a mansion. If you did, the last thing you would fucking do is advertise it or brag about it. How stupid are you? Secondly, your grammar and sentence structure sucks which suggests to me that, again, you're not rich at all. Your just an average lying asshole that could care less about what you put on the internet and how it really affects real people. Thirdly, I grew up in Newport. I've eaten at China Star III and had their delivery for well over 20 years. It's a take out restaurant that has a few seats in it. nothing more. The food isn't the best around but it's not bad either. Aside from the Styrofoam cups and the clear fact that you didn't like your food your review is straight up bullshit. They don't use MSG. I react badly to it and would never eat there if they did. You are straight up lying. Fourthly your entire family didn't get sick. That is such a stupid, stupid claim. That would mean that everything in China Star III is rotten or spoiled which couldn't be further from the truth. That place is so busy you couldn't keep something in there to the point of spoiling even if you tried to. You're just mad for whatever your reason and are doctoring up the shittiest review you can think up out of pure spite. You're an asshole. A complaint is just that and you have every right to complain as a patron if you have a valid reason to but what you're doing is straight up wrong. I'm not exactly good friends with Owen the owner (nor does he even know that I'm doing a rebuttal in his defense on Yelp) but I know him and his family enough to know that they are really great people and the nicest Chinese restaurant owners I've ever come across. If you had a problem with anything, their only concern is how to make it right with the customers. Had you bothered to talk to them you'd find that out in an instant. Instead you pull this bullshit and try to hurt a good person for no good reason at all. SMH. read more

This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in Newport. It's owned by a sweet family that cooks great food and provides excellent service. Once in a while their son will be in the restaurant after school. These guys really care about the customer and aways do everything they can. Go here if you want a good experience and great food. read more

5 stars!!! I ordered Fried wontons that we're filled with meat, crab Rangoon's pictured and they were full of crab meat, pork fried dumplings pictured here, and an egg roll, The egg roll was good as were the dumplings. It came with sweet and sour sauce and some type of sweet brown ginger sauce. I got it delivered and it came hot and the employees were so sweet and friendly! I ignored some of the other reviews because if you want a perfect setting to eat your meal then create it at home instead of going into someone else's home/establishment and then complaining about it. Thank you China Star III for a good experience! It isn't everyday that you get good food and good service. read more

If you're looking for standard American-style Chinese food that delivers, this place is for you. If you're looking for the Chinese food that you would find west of the International Date Line, you'll probably by sorely disappointed. When my wife and I decided to try this place, it was after reading all the reviews and when were hoping for standard American-style Chinese. We got exactly what we hoped. The menu has all of the standards: Beef and Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Crab Rangoon, and the like. The service on the phone was courteous, delivery was fast, the order was taken accurately, and the price was reasonable. We both ate to our hearts' content on a pupu platter and one entree and had leftovers that did us well for lunch the next day. It's a good value. Some night when we don't feel like cooking and when a little bit of grease doesn't turn us off, we'll be ordering from here again. read more

Typical of Chinese Food Restaurants in the area. Certainly nothing very special. One thing I did enjoy about my garlic chicken order, was that it came with lots of different vegetables. Otherwise, this is pretty typical American Chinese fast food with poor service. I have only been here twice, and the second time was one of those experiences where I left the restaurant full of rage! The boyfriend and I called in a small order for pick up on a Sunday evening. The guy on the phone said they are busy, but it should be ready in about 20 minutes. We gave it 30 minutes then headed over to pick up our order. At the restaurant, we ended up having to wait another 30 minutes for our food! I do not mind if you are busy and my food will take a long time to come up, but just tell me that. Don't say "20 minutes" and then make me waste a good hour of my Sunday evening waiting for sub par Chinese food. I will not be going here again. Bamboo Chinese in Newport or Ching Tao in Middletown are your better options. Or if you are like me - just stick to Siam Square for Thai food in Middletown. read more

I truly do love crappy Chinese food. If you do too, you will probably find this place right up your alley. Food is very standard Chinese food--lo mein, chow mein, fried rice, etc., with your choice of meat or vegetarian. The quality is pretty ok, and everything is greasy (as expected). We went right at lunch time, and didn't see many other patrons eating at the restaurant, though we heard a lot of call ins for takeouts and delivery. With that being said, their dining area is very large and hot coffee and tea is free when you dine in. I don't hate it, I don't love it. Overall, it's a pretty standard Chinese restaurant. read more
