Overall, the food was ok. It was a bit overpriced for what you got, and I wasn't terribly impressed with the mackerel. It tasted a little old and over-cured. The texture was alright, but a little stiff. The waitstaff seemed attentive, but I wasn't overly impressed. I wasn't really surprised that I was one of the only people in the restaurant after eating there. The restaurant was clean, and since I was one of the only people in there, it was quiet. Unfortunately, due to all of this, I won't be back. I was also annoyed with a sign they had on the table stating you could get a free Thai soda if you left a 5-star review. Came here for a late dinner (9pm, restaurant closes at 10pm on a Saturday). I was seated pretty quickly as it was fairly empty and service was quick. I got the Hibachi Chicken, which came with house salad and miso soup, as well as a Philadelphia Roll. The house salad and soup were pretty good- the soup had a nice umami flavor to it and the salad was basic, but fresh and paired will with the sweet dressing. The Philadelphia roll tasted about as good as it looked- nothing special, didn't feel like it was fresh and would not get again. The Hibachi Chicken was ok- the noodles had some good chewiness to them, but the chicken and shrimp were slightly tough. The veggies were also cold... Overall, 3/5, ok food and ok service. read more

For a Friday early evening, it was a ghost town in here. Standard hibachi experience. I felt the serving size was not as big as I've had before at similar restaurants. 3.5 stars is the perfect rating for this place. Hibachi is standard and is delicious because it's hard to mess that up. Hot Chinese cuisine is the same, sushi is mediocre basic sushi that serves the purpose. Wouldn't come here if there were more options but without traveling into Newport, it's the only show in town. Service was solid tho they seem to run a skeleton staff. Will come back if in a pinch or am craving hibachi again but won't rush back for the grocery store level sushi. read more

The food was average. Nothing great but certainly not bad. They couldn't have been more short-staffed, however. It was uncomfortable. The resulting stress was evident in how they treat their customers. My girlfriend was accosted and verbally abused by the manager for questioning the price of our drink (I had run over to Marshall's). The price on the bill was $2 more than what was displayed on the menu. My girlfriend told the server and she told the manager. The manager came in (almost running) yelling and screaming about us being given the wrong menu. She then got in my girlfriend's face and included other customers in her crazed rant, yelling about what good customers they were while pointing at other tables, althewhile yelling about what a bad person and customer my girlfriend was. Service was terrible, our waitress was very short with us that it bordered disrespectful. The ginger dressing was watered down thousand island. We had ordered hibachi lunch specials and a dinner and received extremely small portions for the price. I as an asian adult have been to many hibachi restaurants and this subpar. I understand that a lot of places are understaffed right now; however, Mizu seemed to have more than the normal staffing issue. We had a reservation for hibachi and there was one chef (for three hibachi tables) and one waitress. We waited for 20 minutes for someone to come take our drink order, another 20 minutes for us to get our drinks and then an additional 25 minutes until our table saw a chef. By the time we were done, we were there a total of an hour and 35 minutes. I probably would have been more okay with it if they communicated that the wait would be longer, especially since we had a reservation. Communication can either make or break an experience! Ok the important part- the food! The salad and clear soup was good. Rice was good- a little salty. My husband and I split the Meal for two. I was a little disappointed on the portions for what we paid. The steak was delicious, I just expected there to be more of it. Same with the scallops. In their defense, the servers, were hustling, and doing their best. But they were just too few of them. Not only is this place a total ripoff, but the food alone was honestly gas station level. Some of the sloppiest rolls i've ever seen. Paid basically 11 dollars for a "King Crab roll," when it was filled with cucumber & the smallest crab i've seen. Avocado salad: lots of avocado with a small handful of lettuce- perfect portions as far as I'm concerned. Their ginger dressing is a bit creamier than other places that I've gone and it still has that classic taste but is a bit more mild in ginger taste. Hibachi: came with a clear soup with crispy onions- very flavorful! The hibachi cake with another salad with ginger dressing. I ordered noodles, veggies with no onion and shrimp. The shrimp came with lots of teriyaki sauce. I mixed those into the noodles because they came plain. Service: our hibachi chef was funny, friendly, and had mad spatula flipping skills!!!! Walked into this unassuming place based on a coworker review. First I'll start with The pros... Very clean well appointed restaurant. I was greeted immediately upon entry and seated. The sushi choices are varied and vast. The fish was fresh, pleasing to the eye and palette. Pricing was nominal and portion sizes on par. Now to the cons... the customer service fell completely flat. There are special rolls posted near the door but not near the sushi bar. Staff nor sushi chef made any mention of these specials. There was No offer to refill my drink, no waitress asking if I would like another order of anything. Sushi chef made no contact whatsoever and I'm sitting at the bar solo. Everyone was more into conversation with each other and their cell phones that the services lacked GREATLY. Shame. I used to come here when I lived in Rhode Island (2004-12). The food was always good; in a word, solid. After being away since mid-2012, I made a triumphant return. Somehow, Muzu has managed to kick it up a notch. I have eaten at supposedly the best Japanese places on both coasts plus I was in Honolulu just two weeks ago. The Steak Teriyaki bento box was definitely in the top 2 or 3 over the past 30 years. The food was hot, the steak and tempura were superbly prepared and the portion was generous. Made a reservation for a pretty larger party. We all arrived before reservation time to ensure we would be ready as soon as the restaurant was ready to seat us. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The service was surprisingly timely. We only waited 45 minutes to receive half of the party's drinks and 54 minutes for the remaining drinks. Still missing three drinks (hot sake) Apparently Restaurant ran out of hot Sake (surprising for a Japanese restaurant). Will be ready in 10 minutes after it is done microwaving. Apparently there is only 1 hibachi chef and they chose to serve a smaller party that arrived after our group ahead of our larger party which had the reservation. At 64 minutes after our seating, we received a tasty serving of Miso soup. 76 minutes after seating we received 2/3s of our sake ordered. Not bad if your standard is exceeding 50%. 88 minutes after being seated hibachi chef arrives to save the day! 91 minutes after seating, the final 1/3 sake arrived, I can drink and be happy now. Although hibachi is as much about the show as it is the food, it was nearly TWO AND A HALF HOURS before our food was all served. The bill was a mere $1,100 read more

Get a scorpion bowl for 2 and you are golden!!! Perfectly made. I want to try the hibachi next time... along with the boat came miso soup and salad which i didn't like.. it was very watery salad like they forgot to dry the lettuce and the soup was very sweet ..normally it's salty. Never had an experience like this! Took my brother out for his bday. Had reservations and 30 minutes in another large party walked in. We felt like we were being rushed. The bill was brought without offering dessert, so we asked and flustered the waitress gave us a dessert menu. As we were finishing dessert and drinks the waitress came over and told us she needed our table. We had only been there 45min and were still finishing drinks.
