It has been three years since my review of Tsunama and it is still our "go to" restaurant. NamaCrisps it is still what dreams are made of, so much so I have never not ordered it....... yes, EVERY time! But .....you must try the PHO made with bone broth! It is authentic and the best I've had in this country. I sometimes get it to go just to have a yummy lunch the following day. Rating: 4.3 Came to try this sushi restaurant as i was near the area. It's a local asian restaurant offering sushi, hibachi, and more. It's located in a plaza so parkings are readily available. When we got there it was early just when the restaurant opened so it was empty. Inside is small with some seatings and tables with bar area. Once we sat down we took a look at the menu and placed our order We got tsunama crisp and divers scallop appetizer to start. They were both good but tsunama crisp was our favorite. Scallops were good but pairings sauce and salad in the middle was ok. Garlic noodle was okay as well. Bit strong on the soy sauce but needed a bit more depth of flavor or sweetness. Sushi was good. I personally liked the eel roll. Service was good and waitress was attentive. Overall it's a solid asian restaurant offering decent sushi and asian food in the area. However it's not unique since they don't offer m anything that is significantly different from other asian restaurants. Since it's a bit far from where i'm located not sure if i'll return unless I'm already in the area. read more

Our usual Sushi and Pad Thai with beef was great as always. Only issue we had this time was the Pad Thai came with 5 cubes of steak rather than our usual small tiny shredded pieces. We didn't think anything of it just assumed it was a new or different way they were making it. Then the bill came with an additional $18 for the " steak " !?! We had asked the server and asked about this as we always get the same two dishes and were told by her " I guess I misunderstood and added a steak side. When we showed her the three choices on the menu and prices next to each. Which was $5 not 18. Her only response was I'm new and must have misunderstood. There's only side choices on the computer and when I put in steak that's what came up. She didn't offer to correct her mistake or charge us properly. This has never happened before and I understand she is new but to pay an additional $13 for something that was her mistake and not to offer to correct it was NOT a great choice on her part. Other than that and this never had happened in the years we've been going here, we won't be coming back any time soon or as we usually would. Sorry. That is definitely not how you take care of your long time guests and for a servers mistake. Regardless it was very clean inside as always and not too busy this night as it normally is in such a small place. My suggestion would have been to notify the manager and let them know of your mistake and to correct it. Not only for any guests but for your regular and long time guests especially ! I won't take away the quality and great taste of the food and lower the rating for just one servers mistake and not handling this correctly. But we won't be back. We've been coming here for a few years now, and it's our favorite go to for sushi in the state. The food and service is always on point. The sushi is fresh and high quality, the blackened tuna, if available, is a must order. As are the garlic noodles. The interior of the space is a bit dated but still very cute and comfortable definitely sit at the bar if there is space. During the height of the summer reservations are a good idea but you can easily walk in during the off season. read more

What a win for the area, honestly. I love their specials, their pad Thai is bomb, their crab rangoons and gyoza are both solid, and it's great that they have sushi! Amazing restaurant! I came here last year and it was a very memorable experience. The food is the highest quality. The portions are gigantic. It feels like a lot of options but they don't just specialize in one type of food. They do it all and they do it great. The sushi is top notch, the rice and pad Thai is some of my favorites. The hibachi is out of this world... Their vegetables are so fresh and delicious... the wonton soup and the miso soup are phenomenal. For dessert we had their delectable fried ice cream and mochi ice cream. The service is above and beyond. I would eat here every night if I could. They have indoor seating for many... It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside... And they have outdoor seating in the summer. This restaurant is super clean and the food has never gone wrong. read more

Truly phenomenal all around! The cutest little spot inside decorated for the holidays felt like we were transported to a cozy hallmark Christmas movie spot! Started with edamame and the fried shrimp appetizer which was incredible. I've never had fried shrimp that was so light, crispy, and flavorful! Specialty rolls we had were the Nami, Allie's, and Red Dragon (tuna). Size of rolls were perfect - 3 rolls fed us 2 adults just right. We've been here a few times now. Most definitely the best sushi in south county, and definitely in the top 3 for the state. The fish is fresh every single time. Same with the seaweed. Drinks are good. Interior is cute and cozy in the winter, haven't been yet in the warmer months. The servers are all super friendly and accommodating. So many sushi places in Rhode Island have a following the fish is fine at best. Not going to make you sick but definitely not as fresh as it should be. Not this place. The fish is amazingly fresh and literally on par with any sushi in Boston or NY. You definitely pay for it, as it isn't inexpensive, but I'd rather pay more and have good food than pay a little less and the sushi is meh. So so happy we have this place in south county!! read more

Excellent food, probably the best Japanese forward restaurant in South County. It felt very fresh and thoughtfully constructed. I appreciated the nigiri and classic rolls. I love the ambiance here! It's like a little Asian bistro - cozy inside- I love the vibe! We started w the shrimp dumplings and they were the best I've had- melt in your mouth delicious!!! The special sauce on the side was a great compliment to the appetizer! Next we split the creamy Pad Thai which I must say again was the best I have ever had! There was something about the exact temperature at which it was served that made it so delicious- and so smooth and creamy. It was served with a generous amount of chopped peanuts and two lime wedges. Finally we shared the Joes Happy Day sushi roll. The fish tasted so fresh and was served at the perfect temperature- the salmon and chives and other delicious flavors melded and melted in my mouth. Tsunama is the place to go for great sushi and more. We've tried almost every nigiri, and could not love it more. The Hibachi/Teriyaki dinners are fit for a king...or queen. The atmosphere is relaxing and pleasing. The service is outstanding. They also have a full bar. If you have not been to Tsunama, you must visit, even if sushi is not your preference. Food was fair, not great just very average, but the service was really terrible for my take out food tonight. It was my first time trying this place I had heard good things about. It was a Monday night and I called for takeout at 6:15pm and was told it would take 45 to 50 minutes. I gave Miley my credit card information over the phone which she repeated back to me that I asked if they might be able to do the food any sooner and she said we would try to have it done in 35 minutes. So I arrive 40 minutes later to pick it up and was told it would take another 15 minutes. Miley sorta apologized. Well it turned out the food wasn't ready until 7: 15pm. I complained that it ended up taking a whole hour. Miley sorta apologized. As I went to take the food from somebody handing it to me she asked me to pay first and I told her I had already paid with a credit card over the phone. She wouldn't let go of the bags until she checked with Miley who then said oops I didn't run the card. So then I had to wait there another 5 minutes while she ran the credit card. I told her how I felt about that additional 5 minutes. Miley sorta apologized. Finally arrived back home to eat the food that I had waited so long for to find that my spring rolls were ice cold.
