Some dishes here are great, however, most lack flavor aside from heat. The chicken and beef are always dry/ chewy which taints what could be tasteful Thai dishes. However, my real issue is the order accuracy. Each time I order multiple dishes the meat and spice choices are mixed up: I ordered pad se ew with no spice and it burnt my mouth so badly I couldn't have another bite (and I like some spice) and then our spicy curry with beef comes with chicken (no beef) and no spice at all. When people can't even eat what they ordered it's a complete waste of $20. This place is convenient, but I would rather drive 15 min away and pay more if I can actually get what I am ordering. read more

I've been here several times and each time I come, the staffs are very sweet. They always check up on the customers to make sure they're enjoying their meals and ask if everything is okay. I usually come in after 7PM for dinner on the weekends so the vibe is calming. It isn't usually crowded. You can just walk to the front and order then choose your own table to sit at. The food is super flavorful and delicious, the portions are decent. There are plastic silverware, chopsticks, napkins, to-go boxes, and plastic bags accessible to all customers next to the order station for people to pack extra food themselves if needed. Simply Thai is a mainstay, and a frequent spot for me during my college days. Out of all the spots at the URI Emporium, Simply Thai is the best. The answer is in its name: they keep it simple, and they serve authentic Thai (or as they explain in the restaurant, "Thai Street Food"). There are quite a few dishes to recommend. The Pad Thai, the Pad See Ew, and the Pho Noodles Soup all come to mind. The Pad Thai is pleasantly sweet, and doesn't skimp on the veggies. The Pho Noodles Soup is both impressive in size and flavor, with a rich beef broth and plenty of noodles. I've tried many times to replicate the broth and it is simply impossible; they get it right. This is the type of soup you want when you have a cold, and it's glorious. With many perfect dishes, I still return to the same dish: Drunken Noodles, Extra Spicy, with tofu. I'm not a vegetarian, but their tofu is out of this world. Crispy outside & creamy inside, and porous enough to absorb some of that unbelievable Drunken Noodle sauce. The noodles are thick & pleasant; just beyond al dente, with enough integrity to absorb the sauce and still remain in tact. The veggies are cooked perfectly, so that they still have a bite to them and aren't mushy. What I love most about this place is how fresh the food is. It's plated straight out of a wok and served to the table piping hot. It's just the thing a college kid needs when they miss home & need a hot, comforting meal (or when you're returning to URI and miss school). read more

I usually get their drunken noodles in a level 8 spiciness because it fits my palette the best! But you can customize your spiciness level. this place is basically cafeteria style, however, it is a good place to go for a quick bite to eat. i usually just get the pad see ew, tofu or shrimp and it's delicious. the Thai tea is also really good as well. the service is super friendly and quick. they serve you your dishes, and you put your dishes away when you're finished. simple as that. read more

I am baffled by the reviews given by other yelpers. Clearly catering the college crowd as the interior looks like a run down cafeteria. I don't like giving bad reviews, but since my experience with take out was punctuated by getting a flat tire, I may be particularly ornery. I ordered drunken noodles with chicken. I think the chef...er...cook...er person trying to cook...was drunk. There were noodles with some kind of brown sauce on them with a deep fried breaded chicken cutlet sliced and thrown on top. The Massaman curry did not resemble any curry I've ever eaten. The scallion garlic pancake appeared to have been dunked in cold oil. I believe the Chicken wings were frozen and taken out of a bag and deep fried in the same oil as the scallion pancakes. The only palatable dish was the fried rice. I'm sorry to say that I will avoid this place like the plague...simply the worst Thai food I've had the displeasure of eating. No salud for this review. read more

Came here on vacation and was just looking for some Thai food when we stumbled upon this place. Didn't look like much from the outside, but the interior was pleasant. The worker was very helpful and friendly. We got our food Togo so we weren't expecting large portions but wow were we surprised! My mother and I shared the pad Thai and we had so much that we actually had enough leftovers for dinner the next day! We also ordered the crab Rangoon's which had a lot of crab meat stuffing and were fried perfectly. My dad got spicy beef with rice that he loved, and also had enough for the next day. You can also pick your spicy level. Very authentic Thai food as well, which is hard to come across. I wish I had this place in my city, I would eat it every week! read more

I don't know how anyone could say a bad word about this place. My husband and I take our kids here at least once a week. I've tried everything on the menu. Never have I had a single thing I did not like. Always fresh and delicious. Service is wonderful. Because we go so often, they've become extra friendly and helpful, feels nice to be welcomed with a smile every time and so much kindness towards our kids. Love the curries, drunken noodles, and I think it's called Kung Pao Kai? Can't remember but it's ground chicken and string beans. So good! It's a great on campus thai place to go! It's not a restaurant environment but they do have plenty of seating. Personally crispy chicken padthi is my favorite (with spice level 3). It gets really busy during lunch during week days. So expect to be in line. They always make your food really fast!! read more

Easily the best place to eat on the Kingston campus. It is located in the corner of the Emporium near CVS and can be easily missed if you're not familiar with the campus. The food is always fresh and tastes great. The staff is very nice and will help you if you're not sure what some dishes are. They also have a menu that has pictures of almost everything on the menu too. My personal favorite dish is their massaman curry. It is such a perfect blend of spicy and savory. Its a yellow style curry which generally are a bit more mild, but this one has just the right amount of kick to it. I was blown away the first time I tried it. I can easily say its the best curry I've tasted. Their panang curry and pineapple curry are also great. Their pad thai is also very good. Has the classic sweet and peanutty taste to it. Its big though so be prepared to take leftovers. The drunken noodles are good too, nice and spicy like they should be. But they tend to be a bit on the greasier side so if you're on a diet stay away from this dish. Whats nice about this place is that they also serve other types of food, not just thai. For example they have pho which is a Vietnamese dish. Usually I dont trust places that arent Vietnamese cuisine to make a good pho but it was actually quite good. However make sure to ask them for Hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce because they arent at the tables and a pho just isn't pho if it doesnt have hoisin or sriracha sauce in it. They have a good variety of appetizers and desserts too, but honestly a entree will more than fill you up. Just a few other things to note, to order you have to go to their cashier and order but they'll bring it to you. There isn't any set tableware, but there is a small table next to the cash register that has all the tableware you need and glasses of water. Then when you're done with your food, just take it over to where the trash is and put it in the bin (same system as a place like Panera essentially). This place is great and I'm really glad they came to the URI campus. Its a great place to get a well cooked meal that tastes awesome in between classes. I'll update my review once I've tried more of their meals, its just so hard when their curry is just so good! read more

I could smell the restaurant before I could find it... This small Thai restaurant is located right next to the college campus and the food was absolutely delicious. Their were 3 people in my party and we ordered a total of four dishes that were shared. Needless to say there were no leftovers to be taken with us. The flavors were what you'd come to expect from traditional Thai food. The Panang curry had just the right flavor on your tongue as to remind you of how much different it is from other Asian foods. I can see the restaurant is probably very busy at lunch time and during peak hours but if you're here other than at those times you're served quickly, like we were. Food like this is meant to be shared so don't be afraid to order outside your comfort zone and dish from the middle of the table. read more

I figure that since we eat here at least every 10 days or so (sometimes more), and have tried most everything on the menu, I should probably stop slacking off and write a review already. I love everything about this place. The staff is always friendly, the portions and prices are reasonable, and the food is always fresh. There are some menu favorites (actually, a lot of menu favorites): For noodle dishes, the Drunken Noodles and Singapore Noodles. For curry, the Panang curry. For stir fry, Ka Pow Kai (minced chicken and green beans) and the baby corn with ginger. For soup, the Malay Noodle soup. For appetizers, the Chicken Satay or the fresh mango rolls. Seriously though, I have yet to have a bad dish. They also can adjust how spicy your dish is...one to four peppers. Reasonably priced and delicious--I am a fan. Some might say I'm in a Thai food rut because I always get tofu Pad Thai, I would prefer to say that I just know what I like, and what I like is simply Thai. A friend of mine has been raving about this place since it opened, so I made her take me there when I was down south for a visit. I ordered Pad Thai and miso soup, and ate all of it. I wanted to stop, but I could not. We did takeout, which was speedy, and the person who rung us up was more than happy to split the order (I never carry cash, I know). The interior of the restaurant was spotless and really cute. They have lots of booths, but also a bunch of cafe tables. I picture students camped out here pretty regularly, but thankfully, they were not there when we picked up our takeout. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was excellent--what more does one need? After spending a few years in Thailand working, I've been trying to find a local Thai restaurant that has the food I fell in love with over there. The restaurant is cafeteria style, order and sit down. I had the Ka Pow Gai, which was just like you would find in Thailand, I loved it, nice and spicy with great flavor. Also tried the Pad Thai which again was just like you would find in Thailand. Simply Thai is simply alright. Granted, it's probably the best Thai food available to the students at URI, but it's pretty passable. When I went, I ordered take out for pork pad thai and pork pad kee mao aka drunken noodles. Both these dishes turned out pretty well, the had flavor and were nice portions. But they didn't really stand out to me among the various Thai I've had before. It's a cute little campus restaurant though. Obviously family owned and I really admire that. So if you're craving Thai, this is a fine place to go. If you're looking for more than craving though? You might have to look farther and somewhere else. read more

As a URI Student, Simply Thai is probably one of my most visited restaurant in the Emporium, 80% of the time, me and my friends will head here instead of the other restaurants. Food here is really delicious, and price is reasonable (as around $10-15 can get you full). It's not fast food, but usually it takes about 10 minutes for food to be served and with a 4 star quality services. HOWEVER, size does vary (and it cannot be assumed) as my favorite dish here is Beef Druken Noodle and PHO Noodle Soup. Variety of food are at two extremes, there's really oily and greasy Drunken Noodle, but there's also very healthy Spring Rolls (not the Chinese one). A great addition to the Kingston Emporium. I had been hesitant to try for quite some time, but was prompted by co-workers who love it. I decided to order the chicken pad thai, something a little on the simple end. Upon entering, i was a little nervous. The place was very chaotic and people were bumping into each other left and right. I do believe they need a little more space in there. however, with a crowd like that - you have to know the food is good! For the price, your portion is plentiful, I had lunch for the next day. The food was hot and fresh and quite delicious I must say. I was pleasantly surprised and everyone in our group was happy. Service here is great. Food is amazing, fresh and pretty cheap. You can always find a seat in the restaurant and the food comes out quickly. My favorite dish is the Pho, which is usually hard to find at most Asian restaurants. Crab Rangoon is also very delicious. The cream cheese isn't over powering, and it's not too thick or fried either. The (assumed) owner who always works now knows my boyfriend and I here as regulars.
