Had a hankering for some Thai and heard about this location and decided to give it a go. Street parking available, small dining area with 7-8 tables to accommodate couples or a small group. Service was quick, ordered chicken satay, Thai iced coffee and the spicy chicken pad thai. The satay was fresh, seasoned well and delicious. The pad thai had a great mix of veggies and chicken, but a little less spicy than I would have liked. Overall a great experience with good service and great food! Will be back to try the curry soon!

A nice tucked away fusion restaurant with amazing flavors. If there's one thing I recommend it is definitely the Brussels sprouts. The crispy texture with jam packed Asian soy flavor easily makes it THE best sprouts I've had. While the chicken wings were crispy, I didn't find anything unique about it. Typical wings with a sweet and sour sauce. I wished they made a dish that fused the flavors from the Brussels sprouts onto the wings. The pad see U with beef was another good dish. Sweet flavor that's nicely stirred fried. However the beef was a little bland and not tender. Overall, I would come back again because the flavors were on point. During busy times, the wait times are going to be 20+ minutes long. This is especially with the limited seating and only one server.

Above average asian food for RI standards. Trust other reviews- and get the brussel sprouts, we were happy we did. The glass noodle and duck noodle were good. The khao soi was good but not as authentic and no pickled mustard greens. Only complaint- we went and they were very busy and it seemed like just one guy working - food took forever.

this is a great location, kind of small inside the gentleman running the place was a little rude, but he seemed to be all by himself . once we got the table and got our menus and were able to order the food came quickly. The appetizers were great and the meals were quickly. Would recommend highly .

Hidden gem. The food was deliciously authentic. THAI FOOD LIKE IVE NEVER HAD BEFORE. The vibe was quiet but nice, it's a small location with probably 5 tables, but it feels cozy and welcoming. There is only one server, please be gentle. Our food came out fast and it was fresh. The menu was quite extensive for a small place. Def coming back as much as I can.

I was very excited to try Champa. Champa serves Lao cuisine or Laotian cuisine and is the national cuisine of Laos. It was my first time having Lao food. The menu has so many different choices for salads, soups, fried rice, noodles, stir-fry, curry, and specialities. There are Thai food and Laotian food. We started with Thai Iced tea. It wasn't too sweet and was really good. For appetizers, we had the Laotian Style Crispy Rolls (4) which was crispy rice paper filled with chicken and mixed vegetables, served with sweet & sour chili sauce. The rolls were very crispy and the roll filling was very full. For entree, I had the Lion City Noodles with beef. This is thin rice noodles stir-fried with Thai spicy sauce, seasoned with curry, carrots, peas, bean sprouts, and baby corn. This dish was delicious, but unfortunately, I did not get any baby corn. I really liked the thin rice noodles and the flavors. The beef was very tender. My husband had the Khao Soi. This is the famous Northern noodles in a delicious mix of light yellow curry, check, ground peanuts, scallions, and fried shallots. He really enjoyed the flavors of his dish and said it was probably the best curry he has ever had. The restaurant is small with a few tables, but it is homey. Service was wonderful and they were very friendly. We told Peter, the owner, that it was our first time having Lao food and he welcomed us. Dishes were very filling and large. We had leftovers for the next day. Price of our meal wasn't bad at all! There is a 3% fee for paying for credit card. Also, there are signs saying the restaurant is no longer BYOB.

if you love a small, cozy, casual family owned spot with amazing aromas and generous portions of thai and laotian comfort foods then come here and dine in!!! you can take out of course but you'll miss out on warmth and escapism that comes with its home style decor. been a few times now and the main server running the shop is so hospitable. i've been here when it's slammed and packed with a small operation and here when it's quiet, both instances the food is still amazing and i end up with leftovers even if i order minimally. i would love to go on a rainy day and take my time eating each noodle so i'll have to go again soon this wet winter.

Absolutely love this place! It's taken over what used to be Sawaddee on Hope Street and I gotta tell you, what a nice change. Unfortunately, they didn't update the interior which could use an upgrade but the food is what we are here for. Street parking and the place is small, maybe 6-8 tables so might not be good for larger group dinners. The place boasts as a Lao/Thai restaurant but the owners are Laotion. Truly, I feel you can taste the love they put in their food. They had only been open for a week when we ventured in, we spent a good amount of time speaking with Peter, the owner - he gave us the rundown of his old location in Westerly and how this location was a better commute and the reason for the change. He runs the front of the house while his wife concocts the deliciousness that comes out of the kitchen. You can tell how proud and humble they are and it shows in the product they put forth. We had a plethora of dishes but my favorite was the chicken laab (Laotion chicken salad). Super tasty with perfect balance of salty, sweet and sour and the toasted rice powder was crunchier than I was used to, BUT I loved it! Gave it different textures and consistencies that I wasn't used to but definitely enjoyed. We could've gotten it spicier but wanted to go mild to get a feel for the food first as we know Lao people LOVE spicy! Everything was delicious and you can tell how fresh the ingredients are. And it's silly, but I appreciate that a side of sticky rice comes with your papaya salad, a lot of places charge you extra for it. It's the little things. I've been back once since our initial visit for quick takeout which I ordered the Tom Yum soup - wow! Probably one of the best Tom Yums I've had! We haven't had one bad thing from this place yet! I do notice quite a bit of takeout - I hope the place is here to stay. Do yourself a favor and throw out those Chinese takeout menus for one night and try something new. You won't be disappointed.

It came to $60, to which we added a generous tip. We like the vibe here and resolved to return with a shorter absence.

At first glance, you don't see much from Elmwood Ave, but veer to the right and everything opens up on the left, with a parking lot in the back. Ornate statues lead you to the entrance, and once inside you are instantly greeted with bold colors and beautiful art everywhere. I wanted to take the opportunity to try some Cambodian food, so after some quick research, I opted for Beef Lok Lak, which happened to be one of the lunch combos. I chose fried rice and nime chow for my lunch options and settled back to wait for my feast. They bring you a complementary pot of hot tea, which I enjoyed. I believe it was a straightforward unsweetened black tea. Perfect for me. Before long the rangoons arrived. I literally said "wow" when the runner set my plate down. Beautiful golden brown, small bubbles visible all over the outside, promising crispy goodness. And it delivered. What I didn't expect what the slight chewiness to the wrapper that enhanced the experience. The filling was super creamy and delicious, but I prefer my rangoons with scallions as well. However, that didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. Then my lunch came. The beef was perfectly cooked, the dressing tangy and peppery. The nime chow was herby and super fresh as it should be. And the rice had this extra depth of flavor that made me think of tomato paste? A lovely addition the dish. I had a great meal here and the rangoons are definitely worth having! I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu!!

For the longest, I thought Apsara on Hope St and this Apsara were the same owners, different locations but I was fooled. They are different, so I came on a Saturday evening with my friend to give this one a try. They have a parking lot but it is small. However, there is lots of street parking around. When we walked in, every table was full and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes to be seated. Since we had time to look at the menu while we waited, we ordered right away: BBQ beef, stir fried thin egg noddle with seafood, and thai garlic chicken wings. While waiting for the food, I had ample time to take in my surroundings, including all the elegant décor around the restaurant including a lot of red and gold colors. Our food came out all together after about 20-30 minutes. The portion sizes were excellent, and all the food was still hot. The beef was cooked perfectly (for me) and cut into manageable strips. It was tender, a hint of sweet, and savory. It came with some sweet pickled shaved radish, cabbage, and carrots with cucumber. This with the meat created a contrast in texture and amplified the sweetness. There was also a clear sauce and that was also really.good. The fried noodles were delicious. They were thin so it seemed like the flavor penetrated inside the noodle. It had a good amount of seafood including big chunks of imitation crab meat, shrimp, and something else I was unfamiliar with. It also had mustard leaves; they weren't bitter, they just had a neutral green leaf flavor (maybe spinach but stronger). The chicken wing order came with about 8 wings, sitting on a bed of cabbage and topped with jalapeno and chili peppers. They were still very hot and crispy, and had a savory and a subtle umelike flavor. I wish the garlic flavor were stronger. I am excited to come back again and try something new on the menu.

I got my 'usual' order from when it was the prior ownership/management and have to say I was less than impressed. I ordered spring rolls which have a large portion size (6 large rolls) which are much larger than the prior owners but the taste is just mainly of cabbage and oil. Not much flavor and they seemed to be a little dense/soggy with oil. The crab rangoons were made with imitation crab meat and had curry, not really any crab flavor. They seemed to use a thin premade wrapper. I also got pad thai which was okay. It was a bit on the mushy side. Flavor was okay but it just didn't seem to have the same fresh, clean quality as prior recipe. Tasted similar to a lot of other thai restaurants, which may not be a bad thing I guess. Finally I ordered drunken noodles for lunch the next day. These did not come spicy at all but instead came with a chili sauce on the side. The noodles themselves were really thick and gummy and bunched up (kind of a squareish size) rather than long ribbons. There was just almost no flavor to this dish and the flavor was just fish sauce or something similar. No complexity or layers of flavor. Very one dimensional. Overall, for the higher price it was relatively disappointing.
