I wanted to try a new sushi spot. When I looked at the pictures online, I liked that some of the rolls were fried, and they have a large selection of cooked sushi to pick from. I went in wanting to try the Kayla roll and the steak and cheese roll, and that's exactly what l ordered for my friend and I. Each roll was $11-$12 which wasn't bad for the size - 10 big pieces. The names of the rolls were creative, with one even named after the car wash right behind their building. There were people eating there, but they didn't have a sit-down option; I was a bit confused. One of the staff members clarified that they don't officially serve to dine in, but you could take your order and sit inside. I just took it to my car to keep things simple. I think they should offer a sit down since it seems like there is a demand for it. Anyways, our food came out after about 7-10 minutes, and it was warm and crispy. The pieces were very big, so l had to split it up into 2 bites. However, lots of flavor packed into each roll. The steak and cheese roll had steak, but you couldn't really taste it much since the cheese and sweet soy sauce dominated. I very rarely give 5 stars but this as ppl say little hole in the wall is my absolute go to for sushi. They already know me as Sol there. Everything is good but without fail I ALWAYS order the Kayla roll which is cooked. I have mastered the chopsticks which I'm proud of. They have gotten busy since the TikTok video went viral so or in advance. It's a family owed business. They take cash and card. The parking is a bit small and so is the inside. You can eat in but not dine in if this makes sense if not let me explain you can place your order grab it and sit at a table to eat it but no waitresses. Food was good, like the sauce with the gyoza. Really like the sweet potato roll as well (not pictured) Parking is tricky, small lot, but there is street parking on the side street. Also, although they have tables, and you can eat in there, they put the food into to go containers, so we just took it to go. Which is not a bad thing. Crab tempura was solid (good) made with real crab not the kani stuff, I always prefer the real thing so wherever it's offered, I'm going to order it. Not a huge fan of sauces but this went well with the fried crab. The Spicy Lobster didn't give spice in the sense I was thinking of, no hot peppers or sauces or anything. This place recovered nicely from the bad press it received about 10 years ago. This is my current go-to for sushi roll craving, those big sushi combos my husband savors and soft shell crab appetizer. I have tried a number of their appetizers but not a big fan of the hibachi cooked items. I have had their Pho on a few occasions. I enjoyed this place much more when I was able to dine in and do a BYOB. Having a liquor store across the street was very convenient for such an occasion. I have been only doing take out since the pandemic but I *hear* that the dine in has opened again. This place is always busy so that is a good sign. Personally, though, I think their cooked rolls all taste pretty much alike. This is why I stick to about 3 different kinds and that's it. In the spirit of helpfulness, I would say most items here are fine save for the shrimp tempura. It is not a tempura at all. It is a floured up shrimp that is fried, that is all. I tried Uncle Sushi for the first time early May 2024 and have already returned for more. The sushi is out of this world. The flavors are so fresh and there's so many different rolls to try. It gives me an excuse to treat myself to more sushi haha! The girl taking orders and helping with check out is so so so nice! Third-wheeling my sister's date? It always felt like home with the cozy atmosphere. Although it's closed for dining, I'm quite happy they're open for take-out at the moment. My three rolls were made in 20 minutes during lunchtime. Everything tastes fresh, clean, and of course, delicious! This was my second time ordering takeout and it was a terrible experience. The first time wasn't good but I thought I'd give them another shot. The food was made quickly and that was about the only positive. I ordered my food and the menu on their website did not match what they offered nor did the prices match. This was extremely disappointing as I placed orders expecting a certain outcome that was not matched. This Philly roll was not made properly. It had the right contents but the roll itself seemed weird and taste weird as well. The Kayla roll was just underwhelming and difficult to eat. The hibachi scallop was extremely salty, and the scallops was chopped up into tiny pieces. I had to throw away all the food and it made my stomach hurt. The fact that I have to give a one star review makes me sad because I used to love this place! Anyway, here goes: I hadn't ordered from them in a long time and I was craving a Kayla Roll, so last night I ordered about $60 worth of food...... Everything was gross. The rice was way too salty, the spicy Mayo was thick AF, the dumpling sauce was coagulated, the fried chicken was horrible, and the sushi made me feel sick after eating it. The food was so bad it was lowkey hilarious. I wish I took pictures of the chicken, Y'ALL........... I've never had fried chicken wings that were greasy, but dry on the inside and little stale on the outside. This place does not look like much as you drive by and parking can be problematic but a lot of people tend to park at the HoneyDew Donuts lot. The sushi here is rather one of the best and tastiest Ive tried so far. And the dishes are authentic to the Laos motherland that include Papaya salad, Chicken larp or Beef larp, Khao Piak-like a rice porridge but made with fresh rice flour noodles, and of course sticky rice. The menu includes other known dishes like fried rice and hibachi style stir fry. Hopefully you have a lot of patience if you end up going on a busy night. Came here by recommendation. My friend loves this place but more-so recommended the steak and cheese roll and Pho. So I picked this place for my going-away dinner with friends. It's EXTREMELY tiny. Well needless to say I ended up eating a LOT of sushi that night. A lot. And going home with even more. How could you not like sushi?!? It's my life. Anywho normally I don't go for Americanized sushi like a steak and cheese. But my friend ordered it and she couldn't get past the seaweed taste. So I ate it and I really enjoyed it. I of course got normal orders of sushi like the Rainbow Roll, a white tuna roll...and two others I don't quite remember. It was all really delicious. My friends got the crab ragoo roll, which was a hit. They also ordered an array of chicken, which was really good as well. If you don't like pickled fishy salad, do not get the papaya salad. It was recommended and I hated it. But at least I tried it! Overall we had a blast!! Very down to earth and the owners are super friendly.
