Between the sentimental memories & the consistently awesome sushi, Haruki's in Cranston remains one of my favorite restaurants! On this visit, we ordered hot sake & a Sapporo to share. Then we went with our "regular" order: - Daisuke maki: inside - spicy tuna, cucumber, asparagus & tempura bits; outside - tuna, tobiko, spicy mayo, sweet sauce, chili sauce & cilantro with extra habanero tobiko on top (you are going to see a trend here!) - Spicy scallop maki with extra habanero tobiko - Negihama maki with minced yellowtail & green onion - Spicy tuna hand roll with habanero tobiko - which is our idea of the perfect dessert! Stopped in on Saturday evening, got lucky and were seated right away in the last open table. Even though they were crowded, service was quick. The miso soup cane out extra hot which I pleasantly liked since most places the soup comes out lukewarm. The Spider Shrimp roll was delicious. They had the dinner Bentos so we ordered those. One of my favorite sushi spots in RI. I love the bento box specials and their tar tar appetizer. Great location with a parking lot. Service is great whether you sit at the sushi bar or a table. Great selection of fish and unique rolls. read more

Been going to haruki for many years now and I always get the same thing. Chicken tempura which is perfectly fried golden brown and coated in delicious tempura batter 10/10. Crab Rangoon's used to be very good but seems as tho recently they have changed up the filling and Rangoon wrap which to me wasn't for the better but the orange sauce they give for dipping is so delicious! 5/10 they also give a tempura sauce for all the tempura dishes but I always ask for their excellent homemade teryaki sauce! One of my favorite teryaki sauces and it pairs so well with the chicken! 10/10 The interior of the restaurant has a full sushi bar along with a full service bar and small sit down dinning room to eat, as well. I'm not a sushi guy but I've heard great things about their sushi which if you take a look at their menu you'll see they have a very wide variety of boxes and rolls to choose from! Side note: I also really enjoy the chicken Katsu, not pictured below but deff something I get time to time along with their chicken teryaki app (I'm here for the chicken options haha!) Service is always on top of things as well when you din in which is always a huge plus in my book! read more

This was the worst service experience I can remember. We were told to seat ourselves at the sushi bar, then told to get up(the bar was empty). We went in the waiting room and other customers were sat at the sushi bar. They were also walk in customers without reservations. When we asked why we were not able to be seated but others were the hostess was confused. At this point she still did not allow us to sit and said we can wait on the couch for 5 minutes. We left completely confused and aggravated as to what happened. The front of the house needs to pull it together. read more

I like Haruki and am a fan of both locations. I typically use the Cranston one for take out due to sheer convenience, while I am just used to the Providence one for dining in. The food at this Cranston location. is always ready when they promise, almost always good quality and fresh, and staff is professional. I've tried a bunch of appetizers and found them pretty good. At least for takeout, potion sizes can be on the skimpy side (example: the seaweed salad is just a few bites worth). Sometimes the maki rolls appear to be too hastily made, coming out sloppy. But they taste good! In my recent order one of my maki rolls was a simple tuna roll and contained very little tuna and almost all rice and seaweed. So, minus a star for the inconsistency here but the freshness and deliciousness make up for it. At night it can be a pain getting in and out of this location as it sits next to an intersection on a busy 4 lane street. Even worse, Haruki doesn't have a lighted sign and there are not much streetlights. That said, it's not too difficult to navigate - just certainly not the easiest. For me, I feel more partial to the Providence location out of nostalgia. Have had so many great meals there. But the Cranston one is a great option too. read more

I'm only 5'5 but these tables are super short & I felt like I was hunched over all of dinner. Could've just been our table. Looking for a place to eat after the kids participated in the Armenian flag raising at Cranston City Hall. 6 women and 10 hungry kids and we ended up at Haruki. Service was fast and food was delicious! The kids sat in the back room and loved every minute of their private space. We enjoyed a few drinks including the lychee martini and a couple of bottles of saki. Salads, edamame, gyoza, noodles, rice, and rolls, we ordered so much food and enjoyed almost every last bite! I recently moved to Rhode Island and have been on the hunt for my new favorite sushi place. This is my new go-to and after trying several around the area, nothing compares for me! So far I've been three times and not one bad experience yet. The food is always fresh and service is fast. I love the homemade dressing, which I put on any of my veggie rolls instead of soy sauce because of how delicious it is. I also love how fast the service is. They make sure you're fed right away. Actually really surprised about the bad reviews. Haruki is a spacious restaurant with fresh food, nice/fast service, and good ambiance. Hubby and I were craving sushi and would have gone to Nami, but their rolls are like $25 each now!! Haruki's seemed more reasonable. We weren't disappointed. Got a few rolls and the veggie tempura. Tempura had a nice variety of veggies and was crisp and fresh. Only complaint here is that the broccoli tempura didn't turn out very well (batter got stuck in the florets and got soggy). We liked the rolls because they weren't drenched in sweet mayo-y sauce. One of them even had real crab in it. Fish was fresh and rice well-seasoned. Would definitely come back. read more

I've been coming here for years, so it's only right, I write a review. My family and friends have worked and ate here for years, so I think I'd know a thing or two about this place. And no I'm not bias. Ichiban and Haruki are top two for sushi in Cranston. A1! Haruki on Wayland is better but faaarr. Booo! For the perfect combo I'd recommend the superman and spicy scallop (if you like saucy rolls) . Another fav of mine is "sushi cook" a sushi dinner that's not on the menu, which has three pieces each of; unagi, sweet shrimp and kanikama (crab stick). If your a reeeaal sushi person uni, ikura, raw scallops & shogun toro nigiri.. their teriyaki patters/bento boxes are great. I really like their teriyaki sauce, probably my favorite of all time. If you want some green-ish or healthier, avocado seafood salad or sesame seared tuna. I could go on but we don't have all day! Happy eating yo! read more

HORRIFIC. Pictures speak for themselves. We were seated quickly, covid rules observed at the door. The wait was incredibly long, might be because we were sitting for 20mins before anyone acknowledged us. Another 15mins for edamame, what?! Y'all just boil it and sprinkle salt! Little did I know the edamame would be the best part of our meal. The chicken tatsuta was more like chicken overly-salty-a. I don't remember ordering hypertension as an appetizer. My heart is literally breaking, I hate giving bad reviews especially in these hard times. Whole Foods has better sushi. WHOLE FOODS. The sushi was just so so so so bad. Never mind they weren't actual pieces of sashimi, they pieces were more like trimmings. Which, now that I think of it, was probably for the best as the rolls themselves were barely edible (hard rice, not soft and fluffy vinegar rice, slivers of cold slimy fish). My gf and I have never, ever, not finished sushi before. Leave it to haruki to pop our cherry! And for those of you wondering if I actually know what I'm talking about, yes I do. Those in the area may take Haruki for granted. This was my go-to sushi restaurant for years when I lived in RI. I moved to southeastern MA in 2017 and have spent these years looking for my Haruki replacement to no avail. My solution, far less sushi in my life than I prefer, but I always try to hit Haruki when I come back to the area. Always fresh, rice is always warm and freshly made. I drove past Haruki one afternoon and decided to take a chance. I was actually in the way to another restaurant and was already 2 blocks down the road, but I made a U turn and had a late lunch there. And I was glad I had a change of heart. The interior reminded me of a Japanese restaurant my grandparents used to take us to. Back in the corner, there was a private room with tatami, which was really cool. Servers were polite and quick to their feet. Sashimi was fresh. I've been a loyal customer for decades.....Haruki himself stayed after closing one Christmas Eve to make a Sushi platter for me. My husband and I even took lessons from him on how to make Sushi. Bottom line is I got sick and wasn't able to have Sushi for 3 years I finally got the OK from doctors and this was the first place I went to. The Sushi was flavorless, stringy and just unappealing and unappetizing. The House Fried Rice was the worst I've ever had anywhere! Helloooo my fellow sushi lovers! My gf and I love trying new sushi places and she actually introduced me to Haruki on our first anniversary. :) two sushi lovin' love birds. Corny, but true. Three years later and we still love it. We've been a couple times since and this place is by far one of our favorites and will be sorely missed when we move to Milwaukee. Clean and the staff are always friendly! We always have such a great time. Sushi is always fresh. The rolls are also a decent size! I think this place was slightly higher in price, but that doesn't hinder anything. It's only because now that we are depleting our fisheries with the mass amount of sushi restaurants, prices of fish are constantly increasing. So sad....but it doesn't stop me from shoving my face with a boat load of sushi!!! No really...we got a boat... On this particular trip we ordered the Dragon roll, Dinosaur roll, the Rock n Roll, eel and avocado....and then one with cilantro on top. I can't remember what it was called. I am not a fan of cilantro by any means, but this roll was good. They were all damn good. I highly recommend a visit or five...ten.
