    Katsu spicy miso ramen
    TJ S.

I am downgrading my rating to 3. I remember giving a five or 4 at least. Not this time. I am very disappointed with this place. I have not been to this place in a while so I decided to stop by tonight. Literally, everything we ordered was "meh". Edamame - over cooked and dry, not enough salt. Pork Buns - chewy with not enough deep umami. Takoyaki - perhaps this was the best of all appetizers, creamy consistency but not enough octopus flavor, other than the sauce that comes with it. Then, what used to be our favorite - ramen was a real disappointment. Miso ramen - it came luke warm! A ramen should come hot! Not this one. The broth was neither miso or shoyu or anything else. Broth was cloudy or murky color soup with no real deep flavor. I did not want to finish the soup. I usually finish the entire bowl of ramen including the broth. The noodle was also "meh" this time. I am not sure if they changed the vendor but it was not great quality. It lacked certain "bounce" or koshi, when I bit into the noodle. The topping - chashu was thick and the portion was generous, but the pork did not have the combination of melt in your mouth and deep braised or roasted port flavor. It was too chewy. The bowl looked like hastily put together with not enough love and care. I have eaten enough ramen all my life since I was a little kid. I am now approaching retirement. Thats a lot of ramen. Three things that are critical in ramen broth, men (麺 noodle in Japanese), and the toppings. Combining all three creates an experience. This ramen was not a great experience. Something that looked like a good attempt, but will not win any prizes. When the place opened first a few years ago, I raved about it. The place has changed as if they fired the original chef and replaced him/her with someone who does not know how to make all of my favorite dishes or still learning how. Real disappointment. I probably will not come back again nor bring any of my Japanese friends or relatives. Maybe only good places left are Toritomo in Providence and Sakuratani in Bristol if you want better ramen.

Excellent Miso Ramen! Great lunch specials! Tried the Matcha latte and chicken hearts as well! Service was fast and friendly. Parking lot was super convenient. Will be back

Came in for a late lunch. Service is awesome. The waitstaff is very friendly and nice. However we are disappointed at the shrimp tempura. It came with three shrimps with a thick batter not the same as the veggies batter. The veggie batter was a bit more light and flaky. We ordered two spicy miso ramen with chashu. Firstly the ramen noodles are not authentic. They are like frozen sun noodles. Soft and not chewy. Miso broth tasted like miso soup without depths of flavors. Very diluted and not delicious. Chashu pieces were just ok. The best was the soft boiled eggs. They came with two halves and the runny egg yolk was cooked perfectly! Iced Thai tea was very small and with too much ice! Overall food experience was C. Everything took so long to come out esp the ramen. Very disappointing meal! Wouldn't come for ramen. Maybe something else on the menu is better?!

Cute spot with photos of Japan and decorations I loved the build your ramen-egg was soft boiled to perfection Server was attentive Might be the best ramen outside of Providence that I have tried so far! Will definitely be returning.

Ordered the Tan Tan Man Ramen dish. It was very delicious and flavorful. Generous portions and the waitress was fast and friendly. The sitting area was mostly booths and they had multiple restrooms. Everything look neat. Definitely will be back to try more foods .

Ebisu is a hidden little gem located in a very unassuming area. While visiting a relative, we went here for lunch. The inside is small and intimate. The service was friendly and efficient. Our food was really good. We ordered the Crab Croquette, Steamed Shumai, Yakisoba, Pistachio Crusted Salmon, and Seared Sesame Tuna. All the food was freshly prepared and tasty. None of us left a morsel behind. If I'm ever in the area again, I would not hesitate to make a pitstop at Ebisu.

The service here is amazing and the food was delicious. We ordered the gyozas and tuna tacos to start. The food is very fresh and tasty. For dinner we each had the ramen bowl. I love that they have the create your own option. Also I was able to ask them to remove sesame seeds since my partner has an issue with them. Would definitely come back here!

This was our first time visiting and we are so glad we made the trip! For our appetizer we got the pork belly buns & scallops wrapped in bacon!! They were prepared to perfection. We also created our own ramen bowls, which was a first for us. The menu was very easy to navigate and the service was fantastic. The broth is so delicious and the option to add extra noodles hit the spot. 10/10 would recommend and will be coming back!

The food was so delicious we loved every part! We also had the shumi and the gyoza for appetizers and they were so good they were gone so quickly. The service was great too, our server was helpful answering questions and checking in on us at an appropriate amount. The ambiance is okay low key home like vibe so dress casual and comfortable. We got full and still enjoying the food. Definitely recommend! Local favorite

    maggot found on my broccoli.

Horrible experience. This place used to be a staple for me and my friends, we would always stop here if we were out in the area. I haven't been in almost a year and I decided to take my girlfriend for a date here. Instead of the normal relaxed lighting and calm background music I was used to, it was bright LED lights, loud music, fans on, and just didn't feel like how it was. That however was not the issue. There was a MAGGOT in my broccoli that had been steamed to death. I tried explaining to the server that it was definitely a maggot but she insisted it was "just a part of the broccoli, and being an idiot, I just sucked it up and nodded because I didn't want to cause a scene. 0/10 Will not be back.

Came here for the first time on a Tuesday evening. I had made a reservation, but didn't really need it. It was quiet at the restaurant. We started with the Taiwanese Pork Belly Bun, Spicy Honey Chicken Bun, and Crab Croquette. The pork belly was juicy and tender and the bun had pickled mustard green, peanut with sugar, and cilantro. The katsu chicken with spicy honey sauce, romaine lettuce, and scallion was crunchy and flavorful. It was also the first time we saw buns branded with the name of the restaurant. The crab croquettes filled with crab, mushrooms, corn, and onion were fresh and hot. The spicy mayo sauce is also very good complement. We also ordered Thai Iced tea and matcha latte. The Thai iced tea was good, but the matcha latte was very sweet. The shoyu tonkatsu ramen was delicious and very filling. The broth was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the whole soft-boiled flavored egg, stiitake mushroom, bamboo shoots, spinach, and fish cake. My husband had the katsu chicken curry with kimchee fried rice with bacon and crispy brussels sprout. He had leftovers to take home and it was very good. My friend ordered the Nagasaki chanpon and it was a very good broth. Usually ramen has pork, so she enjoyed that this ramen had seafood (shrimp, scallop, and squid). It is a good choice for apps and ramen in Providence. There are two Ebisu locations. Service was very attentive and friendly.

The server said there was really only one option on the menu for vegetarians which is what I ordered. The food is served luke warm and for $15 I'm pretty sure I could have made this same dish at home for much cheaper and probably better. It has a spicy chili oil on the side that you mix in along with the pickled radish which was more salty than pickled tasting. One bunch of noodles wasn't properly cooked and clumped at a section. I consider myself pretty good eating with chopsticks and the slippery noodles proved to be quite difficult to eat. Not a good option if you're on a date and maybe concerned with how you will look eating this dish. Probably the saving grace of the dish was the mushrooms which allowed me to give this place 3 stars. I will not be back to this restaurant. I only ordered a hot water with a lemon for a drink. No lemon was given, only a chipped little cup (pictured), and the restaurant was freezing. I kept my coat on the entire time. The menu is really tiny. I suggest looking at the menu before going and really making sure there is something you want to try before going. Rookie mistake made on my end!

We were sadly in a rush and had to be out by a certain time to catch a show, and our server understood the assignment and got us out on the tight schedule we needed. I'm just sad I had to slurp down my soup so quickly as it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Snow Mountain Ramen - the creamy tofu broth is unlike anything I've had and was so so unique and delicious. I thought about it for at least a week straight after eating it and am still dying to go back to get more. I also got the Iced Rose Matcha drink - $10 felt too pricy for this but I wanted a fun drink and a little caffeine kick - and again the flavors were unique and tasty. Both my friend and I happened to see someone we knew here - it's definitely a popular spot! It was packed on a Saturday night but it was still pretty quick for us to get a table for 2. Being a downtown city restaurant, the tables feel a bit cramped and I was a little too close to the table next to me for comfort - claustrophobics beware (honestly the soup is worth it though!!) Parking is pretty easy in the lot, although Holy crap they need to fix the potholes / harsh drop-off where it meets the street, and it still was not fully plowed many weeks after the big snowstorm (it's a shared lot so not a Y Noodle specific issue, but just saying). The only thing that was unpleasant were the bathrooms - I get it was a busy weekend night, but they reeked of a litter box the second you stepped in, the floor was dirty and very wet with unknown substances, and the Dyson hand dryer is at such a weird, too high level on the wall that it sprayed water in my face. Everything else was a dream, can't wait to go back! Hopefully the bathrooms were just a fluke.

I wish that our server had communicated that food comes out as it is ready. My meal came out 10 minutes before everyone else's which is awkward. Although this isn't fine dining, I find a sporadic placement of food to be strange because I sat with my food in front of me waiting for everyone else's. Service is not necessarily friendly, but they are attentive.

We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

The creamy, rich broth was balanced, the noodles were bouncy (maybe homemade?), and the toppings were all good! I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.
