Wow! Our server was so friendly and helpful - he gave me a thorough rundown of everything on the menu that was vegetarian. We were sadly in a rush and had to be out by a certain time to catch a show, and our server understood the assignment and got us out on the tight schedule we needed. I'm just sad I had to slurp down my soup so quickly as it was absolutely DELICIOUS! I ordered the Snow Mountain Ramen - the creamy tofu broth is unlike anything I've had and was so so unique and delicious. I thought about it for at least a week straight after eating it and am still dying to go back to get more. I also got the Iced Rose Matcha drink - $10 felt too pricy for this but I wanted a fun drink and a little caffeine kick - and again the flavors were unique and tasty. Both my friend and I happened to see someone we knew here - it's definitely a popular spot! It was packed on a Saturday night but it was still pretty quick for us to get a table for 2. Being a downtown city restaurant, the tables feel a bit cramped and I was a little too close to the table next to me for comfort - claustrophobics beware (honestly the soup is worth it though!!) Parking is pretty easy in the lot, although Holy crap they need to fix the potholes / harsh drop-off where it meets the street, and it still was not fully plowed many weeks after the big snowstorm (it's a shared lot so not a Y Noodle specific issue, but just saying). The only thing that was unpleasant were the bathrooms - I get it was a busy weekend night, but they reeked of a litter box the second you stepped in, the floor was dirty and very wet with unknown substances, and the Dyson hand dryer is at such a weird, too high level on the wall that it sprayed water in my face. Far exceeded my expectations. I'd always heard good things and finally had a chance to try and I am sure glad I did. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. The interior was much larger than I initially expected and more of a full restaurant too which was a pleasant surprise. In truth, not entirely sure what I was expecting, but as I stated up front it was more than that for sure in all regards. The food came quickly and was presented beautifully, and the drinks were so good I had to have a second. We opted for small plates on this visit, which included an order of soup dumplings which definitely lived up to the hype. WOW. Such awesome food. You must try this place. The flavors were perfect all around. I can't even describe how yummy things were. Not pictured was the tonkatsu meal and my pork belly buns (appetizer for meal). I drank the beer+soju pairing which was good. I never had soju before today. It tasted like apple liquor. I wish that our server had communicated that food comes out as it is ready. My meal came out 10 minutes before everyone else's which is awkward. Although this isn't fine dining, I find a sporadic placement of food to be strange because I sat with my food in front of me waiting for everyone else's. Sat there with my wife and the waitress never acknowledged our table! We sat there for over 20 mins. The tables around us were being served by the same waitress. Couples that got to the restaurant after us got to order food and drink and got their order! Wow, absolute worst customer service ever. If you have a gluten allergy, gluten sensitivity or celiac disease DO NOT COME HERE. They claim they have gluten free rice noodles but their manager just told me THEY DO NOT. The boy who answered the phone told me he cannot deal with my concern because it is "above his pay rate." When calling back, a woman who answered tried to address my concerns but the manager was consistently yelling at me in the background. When she finally got on the phone, she tried to shut me up with a voided order. Wouldn't you want to address the situation and help the customer feel better so that they come back? After searching several options, we landed on this establishment (in large part because of its proximity to our Airbnb and their various noodle options). Overall, the most positive part of our experience was the service and ambiance (though the music was too loud). Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Now to the food: -Pork belly cotton candy- delicious and inventive. By far the best thing we had all evening (5/5) -Y Dan Dan noodles: very disappointing especially considering the numerous positive reviews online. Everything from the noodles to the shrimp tempura lacked flavor. The best part of this dish was the marinated egg. In fact, this dish was so bad that we politely asked if we could exchange this dish for something else on the menu and shockingly, the chef wouldn't allow it. This is not a request that I make lightly and it is the first time a business has declined to offer a substitute dish that I would be able to actually eat...(0/5) -sake trio: decent, note they won't actually give you unfiltered nigori as an option and one of the sakes tasted like sprite (2.5/5) - tuna tartar: please don't bother ordering this dish either! The masago on top has no place in this dish which was served on salad (not with chips...why??) and my partner described this as the worst tuna tartar she has EVER had...ever (1.5/5) Overall, I will never come back to this restaurant and this is the worst meal I've had in a long while that cost me $100. There are plenty of other (better) restaurants in the area to chose from, so don't bother wasting your time or money on this one. I want to preface this review by saying that 1) I'm writing it with love 2) I really hope that management reads reviews & 3) This was so important to me to write that I'm literally writing it right here in the restaurant. TLDR; I really like Y Noodle & Bar but some things need immediate attention, IMHO. - Music choice - Prices - Portion sizes I thought to myself earlier today that I'd love to treat myself to a bowl of Tokyo Shoyu from Y Noodle & Bar. I had this thought, immediately followed by another one: "But they play really horrible music..." I made the decision to come anyways. So there I was, just settled into my seat at a table by myself, when I heard "Peace up, A-Town down" & then "Yeah!" by Usher & Lil' Jon surrounded me. It was so loud, so jarring, & so comical. I looked up & locked eyes with a couple at another table who were also totally taken aback. We shared a laugh & agreed that the restaurant plays truly inappropriate music. Not cuss words inappropriate, necessarily, but inappropriate in the way that it totally doesn't fit the space. It's also not consistent. We ricocheted from club jams to bubblegum pop to Ice Spice. If the music, something easily changeable, is a well-known deterrent, that's a shame. Please, throw on a neo-soul playlist, or some Lo-Fi Hip Hop Beats to Study To, or literally anything that doesn't immediately raise folks' cortisol levels. So onto the price issue. I had originally intended to get a cocktail, but was taken aback at the prices on the menu. The not-complex cocktails were all priced around $16/$17. I really can't rationalize paying that much for whiskey, grapefruit, & yuzu. So I opted for soda instead. Finally, the portion sizes. I ordered Tokyo Shoyu & when it arrived, I just looked at it for a moment, because something seemed wrong. I realized that bowl was less than halfway full of soup, & thought "oh dear." A few minutes later, a DIFFERENT table next to me received their ramen orders, & they said out loud, "damn." I listened to them voice what I was thinking, that the portions have clearly gotten A LOT smaller. Shrinkflation. I finished my ramen quickly & I'm still hungry. I got my bill & my pepsi was $4. 8 oz of soda from the gun is $4 these days? DAMN. Your ramen is so good! Your place is so cool! Your staff is so nice! You got a good thing going. Please, don't let your music, portion sizes, & prices mess with a good thing. Also, to be clear, I'm not inventing an invisible army for dramatic effect. There were real people all around me that were having the same reactions that I was. I really hope this review is noticed & considered. Thank you! read more

We go to this restaurant often, but tonight was the first time we ever had any issues. Our food was brought out one at a time, then the crab soup dumplings were brought out, and when the young man took the steamer lid off, there sat six FROZEN dumplings. I had NO IDEA they didn't make this food fresh in-house. Our server told us the food is purchased in New York, shipped frozen, and reheated at the restaurant. I lost my appetite for the dumplings after that, and asked them to be taken off the bill, but the chef refused. Just so you know ahead of time, they do not make their food fresh in-house, it is purchased frozen, and then steamed to temperature. Unfortunately service is subpar for a restaurant that is barely at 1/4 capacity. 1st time we were the only ones there and service was slow. 2nd time service was even slower to the point of being super slow. Both times appetizers came out at different times. Not sure why that is. So my table ate their food while I waited and watched. Drinks seem to take forever. Food is good but they need to address service to bring it up to par. I'm trying to be supportive of local out of the way places but your 45 minutes from me and may not go back because of the above. read more

I ordered $60 of takeout lunch for my team at work and we had high hopes for the food! I picked up the food myself and got it back to our office within 15 minutes. We immediately dug in only to find the first bite into a soup dumpling was filled with congealed pink fat. We opened two more to realize they were also like that. We also ordered the stir fried udon noodles. They were FILLED in a "sauce" and thought they possibly gave us a ramen in error. NO, it was pure oil. I called the store and explained normally I would not complain, but with the price of the order I didn't feel comfortable paying $20 for noodles that were soaked in oil and $17 for soup dumplings that were covered in pink fat. I requested a refund for the two items out of the six that I bought. The owner explained to me I would have to bring the items back to get a refund for them. I was at work during my workday and feel like I shouldn't be inconvenienced by bringing the items back just because I was served a subpar product. I have pictures that we did not eat the items and offered to send them. The owner said that they would call me back which he did and spent the entire phone call explaining to me that soup dumplings from their establishment should be eaten right away and apologized the wait staff didn't explain this to me. He asked if I eat Asian cuisine often because "stir fry's are made with oil." This stir fry was sitting in so much oil we thought it was a soup, but I digress. He then told me that he would refund the two items that we had an issue with but needed to call me back because he wasn't sure on how to give a partial refund. He never called me back, and when I called the store, the woman who answered told me the owner is on vacation and doesn't know when he will be back and she cannot handle this. I said OK I understand. I will call back at another time. Within five minutes I got another phone call from the Y noodle bar and the woman on the phone said she spoke with the owner and he told her to let me know the only way a refund will be given is if I return the food that wasn't eaten. I ordered this food at 12:00pm from my office in Providence, obviously, I do not have the food anymore, but I do have the photos they had zero interest in. They made excuses and dodged the customer service aspect of their business instead of taking accountability for serving an overpriced oil bucket and fat filled dumpling. This is my first yelp review and I feel like it's completely necessary considering the garbage food I paid for. The owner not only stood behind the food he put out but spent all of his time explaining WHY it was like that. The restaurant was super cute and clean. The staff that I dealt with when I picked up my food were great. It's unfortunate that the owners running this business do not take accountability for the product they're putting out and expect there customers to be inconvenienced when they provide such a low standard at such a high price. I've had many soup dumplings in my life, and I have never dealt with congealed pink fat. I've had many stirfries and I've never dealt with oil let alone the amount of oil that was in this particular dish. I won't be returning, and I suggest anyone who considers this establishment to look elsewhere, not only is the food grotesque, but the customer service is even worse. As owners, they need to do better. Beware don't waste your hard earned money on owners who dodge accountability with food that makes you crap your pants. read more

I have also tried the Sichuan Tan Tan noodle which I thought was okay, felt like I could have made it at home. If I return then I would try something else. LOCATION: I've been to Y Noodle twice. I feel like this restaurant is only meant for small groups of 2 to 4 because of how small the space is. There is a bar area, two high-top tables, and the rest is a mix of booths and regular seating. In addition, outside there is a parking lot which makes the location itself convenient to access. OVERALL: Service was fast and friendly.
