I finally get to review this place after having come here since it opened. It took me THIS long. I have been telling everyone I know about this little-known all-you-can-eat sushi (plus select Chinese food) for as long as I can remember. No embellishment: I have just about given up on finding really good-quality sushi in this state, let alone an all-you-can-eat spot. But I was impressed. Check out my pics, and you can clearly see how fresh the sushi is when they're presented. The food speaks for itself. I did not expect this place to last this long, given the price and the quality of the food, but here we are--which brings me to the point that you really must order only what you can consume if you go for the all-you-can-eat. You'll be charged if you overorder, because it's a shame to waste quality food. The restaurant is family-friendly and BYOB. The à la carte menu also contains some savory items. I have seen some guests opting for à la carte Chinese rather than sushi. Some of my favorite non-sushi items in the AYCE menu are the wonton soup (delicious and garlicky) and steamed siomai. I have shied away from the shrimp tempura, though, as I can taste the oil in the batter, even though I have been assured that the kitchen uses only fresh oil for their fried items. I recently visited another AYCE sushi place in Warwick, but this place remains my favorite. If you have not been, you are missing out. read more

Cayenne Sushi Restaurant - Asian Fusion Near Me - Johnston, Rhode Island

You can never go wrong with AYCE sushi, especially when Cayenne is one of a kind here in Rhode Island (at least from what I've discovered so far)! First, price. For $30 per person, you get endless options including soups, appetizers, salads, nigiri, sashimi, rolls, hand rolls and special rolls. I always make the pan-fried pork dumplings, sashimi (tuna and salmon), spicy salmon hand roll and special rainbow roll my go-tos. As tempting as it is to check everything off the sheet, do pace yourself because they charge for leftovers. However, you can do as many rounds as you want as long as your plates are clean before the next one. I love the variety, though quality can be hit or miss on certain days. That said, across the many times I've visited, it's been fairly consistent. If you're looking for a "max your fill" spot rather than traditional, higher-quality sushi, I have a feeling you'll love Cayenne. We've always had great service with a friendly waitress who's welcoming right at the door. She consistently checks in to make sure we're enjoying our time there and I love how warm her personality is. Though the kitchen can be on the slower side at times, it's always worth the wait to see everything we ordered compiled on a massive plate. Overall, I really enjoy coming to Cayenne! They may not be for everyone, but I love the AYCE concept that lets you splurge on sushi without the high ticket prices. Cayenne hits the most when you have that hankering, so definitely come hungry to get your money's worth. read more

All you can eat $30 per person. I love the sashimi, always fresh and delicious. The sushi is always good too and it is very filling when it is all you can eat. I always start with the hot and sour soup, very flavorful and full of mushrooms. Everything is good now matter what it is and Joyce is always attentive, making sure your water glass is filled and ready to take your next order. The fresh orange that is served with your bill is a refreshing treat. I always look forward to my next visit. read more

Just stopped in while driving by and tried the Vietnamese summer rolls with mango sauce and the sushi pizza. Both were excellent. I was actually craving some nime chow so the summer rolls were a very tasty alternative. The mango sauce paired perfect. And the sushi pizza.. on a scallion pancake with seaweed salad hit the spot. And I don't even like seaweed salad by itself. Portions were great too. Staff was also very friendly. Gonna have to come back for the all you can eat sushi. Just know they automatically add an 18% gratuity onto the check. read more

Amazing all you can eat sushi! The restaurant is small but allows the experience to feel more personal. The server was pleasant and insightful. You can pick up to 4 rolls at a time, appetizers, and single sashimi's. 4 rolls and some appetizers should be plenty speaking form experience. The price is fair for the quality and amount of the food. The spicy yellow fish roll, TNT roll, ell roll, and crab Rangoons were my favorite. read more

Their sushi is rolled in the absolute maximum amount of rice. After complaining they switched it out. When the bill came I had a $30 extra charge. So I mention it to the wait staff she said I'll go get the manager. Manager comes and tells me to pay what's on the bill or he calls the police.... Salmon tasted old and warm Fluke was chewy and had a funky smell. Last time I eat here. read more

Sushi is good, but I wouldn't say it is of top quality. Friendly service but when there were a lot of guests, the service was slow.

Come hungry! Their sushi special is the main reason we go here! It's an all you can eat sushi place, and please read the sheet well because a roll means 6 pieces, and a special has 8 pieces. The tuna is a bit mushy, and even the sashimi tuna isn't a piece of fish, it's the mushy version. For the price, this is worth the "all you can eat" sushi place! Service is always great, and they answer all questions you might have on your orders. Food arrives after some wait but keep in mind this sushi isn't pre-made. They need time to get everything you ordered on one plate. Place is clean, and a calm place. I found this place busy today, but usually there isn't a wait time. read more

The sushi is really rich in flavor not only that but it was a vast variety of different types to try. The waiter was really sweet and came out with the food pretty quick. I stopped at Cayenne Sushi in Rhode Island on New Years Day. I happened to be getting gas and saw it near by. I was surprised to see that it was an all you eat sushi restaurant. The service was very quick. The restaurant was jumping with customers. I placed my order and the food came out quickly. So I was super happy that it didn't take long. The food was delicious and they had a wide variety of choices on the all you can eat menu. The proportions were a good size, much better than I've seen at other places in New England. The other places in New England, their proportions were smaller than usual. So I was definitely pleased with Cayenne Sushi!! The bathrooms were very clean. The interior is the normal layout with bench seats along the wall with tables. The service was very on point and they continued to check the table often to ensure there are no needs of their patrons. I'll be back! read more

The food at this place was just awful. The sushi was discolored, smelled funny and tasted awful. The other entrees were not even edible and service was slow. Would not come back. read more

TLDR: A very fulfilling and diverse All-You-Can-Eat sushi dinner for $35 w/ tip. Relatively long wait before sushi gets on the table, but the quality is great. Service can be hit or miss depending on time and table size. Came with a handful of friends on a weekday night, so there wasn't a big crowd, but still several tables. Cayenne gave a slightly shady first impression, but it wasn't that bad once we sat down and started getting food. The AYCE comes in rounds - you check what you want for each round, and they will get it to the table, giving you and the restaurant a chance to pace yourself. However, each leftover piece is charged $1: sashimi, sushi, nigiri, or whatnot. The owners keep a close eye on that, so definitely avoid overordering off the bat. The wait between appetizers and the sushi can be overbearing (~45 min), but it makes sense: There are only a handful of sushi chefs, and they present everything you order per round at the same time on a single plate, regardless of how much or how little you order for yourself. I personally liked the nigiri/sashimi here better than the sushi rolls. I enjoyed their scallion pancakes as well. Most of what we ordered here was fantastic, so try as much as possible without leaving any leftovers! read more

Honestly, this wasn't close to the best sushi I've had, but definitely wasn't expecting it. For $27 each person, it was All You Can Eat, and while better quality fish would be nice, it was really just for volume. At some point, the fish tasted very bland and was just mushy with no distinct flavor. As a friend said when suggesting this to place - it's great for getting full, not a place to go as a first date or celebrating an important occasion. It's a little run down and was pretty empty through the evening, but because of that the food came out relatively quickly and we were able to eat plenty. read more

The apps were trash. Oil leaking out of crab Rangoon's. Gyoza was not fried it was pan steamed and didn't seem like that's even an applicable cooking process seeing as its pork. Left the texture gummy like uncooked dough. Got my sushi wrong on my plate and they swapped it with my friend's instead. The rolls were good tho and the quality was good too. I'd give it another try. Seaweed salad was good. Don't like that they put sushi orders on the same plate for both people because how do I know what's mine? This was my 1x visit review from over 2yrs ago. read more

Cayenne sushi is an awesome spot for all you can eat sushi! It's located in a strip mall off of a main road in Johnston in what used to be a D'Angelos. The interior is nothing to write home about but you don't come to an AYCE spot for the ambiance. The price is right here and the sushi is even better than expected. It always tastes fresh and the specialty rolls are bomb. Favorites include tuna extreme, special rainbow, Johnston roll, elegant roll, and TNT roll. The restaurant can get a bit busy on weekends so I recommend if you are with a bigger group to try and place your order in one complete round rather than doing multiple small rounds otherwise you may be waiting a while for your food to come out. The waitress is a total sweetheart here and knows the regulars. She works so hard and we always are happy to see her. I've taken off one star due to the sometimes slow service when busy and the sushi chef. He has always been pleasant to our groups but on a few occasions we have witnessed the behavior mentioned in other reviews such as coming out to speak with groups about how much they ordered or cutting them off from ordering. So just beware of that and the potential slower service but other than that you are in for a treat! read more

I'm 27 years old & I've never felt the need to write a review before until now... I was going out for dinner with my girlfriend because we saw they had all you can eat sushi. The location was very small not a giant restaurant by any means, basically just a room with a hallway, more of a Pizza/Coffee shop layout. When it comes to service let me tell you I waited just about 2 hours before even getting my food & I was so frustrated I wanted to leave. I went out for a smoke & they noticed me leaving so then they finally brought our food, my sushi roll was burnt & they gave my girlfriend the wrong roll. We were done as soon as we finished & go figure they brought the check faster than Lightning McQueen. Needless to say I will never be going back. read more

Looking for an all-you-can-eat sushi place in the Providence area? You've found it! Make sure to come hungry and bring a glass of wine, because it's also BYOB! Here's how it works: For $27, you can check off as many items from the all-you-can-eat menu as you want. And it's not just sushi! I got a bunch of salads, some spring rolls, and some scallion pancakes as well (see pictures of all-you-can-eat menu for full details). Be careful not to order too much, though, because they'll charge you $1 per leftover. Also, no sharing! Otherwise, it truly is all-you-can-eat. And I definitely ate all that I could! Some of my favorites: -The dressing on the Ginger Salad was delicious (same dressing was also used on the avocado dressing). It was sweet, tangy and gingery! -The sweet potato tempura rolls were amazing! The insides were warm, kind of crispy, and layered with a sweet glaze. -Scallion pancakes were also very warm and delicious Overall, I had a good experience. The only reason I'm rating it 4 stars is because there was nothing that really stood out to me about the place. It just kind of felt like a typical Asian-style restaurant. The ambiance was also a bit dark and cold. Otherwise, if you love sushi and want to stuff your face, Cayenne Sushi gives you the chance to do just that! read more

Nice fresh, inexpensive all you can eat sushi. As others have said its BYOB, no corking fee. I find that some of their special rolls are sauce heavy. The waitstaff are always kind. PLEASE READ THE ALL YOU CAN EAT MENU. It clearly states that there is a fee for each uneaten pieces. EVERY time I go someone argues with the staff that they didn't know. read more

Came in on a Monday evening, it was probably 2 other tables dining with us so wasn't too busy. The service was quick and the waitress was very sweet. We ordered fried apps which were standard - but good and a avocado salad For sushi we ordered: Tuna and Salmon sashimi - great quality Rainbow roll - good Sweet potato roll - good Eel and avocado roll - good Foxboro roll - good This was my 12 yr old son's first experience at an all you can eat sushi spot and he loved the foxboro roll, he says the place is "respectfully bussin" read more

This is about 15-20 minute drive from Bryant university. The place is small but clean, maybe about 3-4 tables during covid. The staff was nice but definitely understaffed when I went. The food itself was fine, but each time it came out took almost maybe 30 minutes each round. I also could be doing it wrong because at other places I have gone to, we ordered for the table to eat, but they gave us multiple slips so i think we each would have ordered our own. Either way it did take a long time to get our food. I would come back again if i was in the area and craving sushi, but i wouldn't go out of my way to get it. read more

So , been looking for a decent sushi place--may have found it. Pleasantly surprised. In a strip mall in Johnston! Service was excellent-very pleasant. Sushi was very fresh--beautifully presented. Salad was fresh-crisp-cold with a standard but delightful Asian dressing. Had the Maki combo and several pieces of nigiri. All excellent. We ordered off the menu but catch this--they have an ALL YOU CAN EAT menu for $23! We were not that hungry but will definitely be back to enjoy a feast! In addition--you may-- at your own choosing--bring your own beer, sake. Great find--let's pray for consistency!! read more

If you're looking for fresh sushi you need to go here! They offer All you can eat for $23, yes $23! That includes appetizers and sushi rolls. Only took an hr and a half to get our first round of sushi! Not bad! I've had enough time to rewrite this entire review 3x. So I have been coming here for a really long time and the food was always great. I have introduced many people to this gem. We are always polite and tip $10 a person on a 27 dollar bill. One day he came out and yelled at us for putting too many pieces on a paper. The owner proceeded to say can you read and cursed at us saying f help me buddy . Every time we go he finds a way to come and degrade us or belittle us trying to make us uncomfortable so we don't come back. For this we always stick to the paper and order 10 pc each paper . This is a all you can eat buffet so within reason you eat an leave . We do not make it a all day affair , in fact he will deliberately slow down making our food to keep us waiting long periods. Many times he would come out and say no more this that or the other fish just to stop us from eating. One time he brought out our last plate and it looked like stuff that should have been in the trash. Our last interaction he said on our way out hey buddy if you want to fast don't come back. In front of a full restaurant he shamed us and degraded . I was embarrassed once again but let it go and we went home. Granted over the years I have brought my family and many friends from all over to enjoy this restaurant. I have spoke very highly of the quality of food , too bad the owner enjoys fat shaming his customers. So today 4/24/2022 We entered the location and the Younger sushi chef called to the waitresses and she called to the owner. He comes out and says no service. I asked what why. He said you know why and I felt such utter garbage. I gave never been denied service before and it made me feel so low and hurt that they could do this without reason. So in conclusion if you love sushi and a good fat shaming angry owner please come to the location. We unfortunately have been banned for eating exactly all we can eat. read more

RUDEST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD. I visited this restaurant with my friends for a meal. While we were waiting for a table, a sushi chef came out and told us that we should go to another restaurant instead of dining at theirs. Later, we found out that this person was actually the manager of the restaurant. My friends and I were pretty shocked by the situation, so we asked for an explanation. The manager mentioned that they had prepared sushi for us with great care and effort, only to find out that we were planning to leave a negative review behind their back. We were so confused as we had never left any review about this restaurant before. After checking the reviews online, I realized that this restaurant just denied the entry of Asians for ridiculous excuses.
