I don't have a picture of my food because I couldn't even wait to take a bite. I love Heng Thai so I knew I'd love their sister restaurant, Jarit Thai. I had the most delicious pumpkin curry. The food was outstanding and the drinks were too. My friend and I sat at the bar and the server was great and chatted with us for a while. I can't wait to go back.

A hidden gem for thai food in Providence The interior is very cool. They took time to decorate the place and make it feel like Thailand. Every detail, including the tiny models and street signs in Thai make you feel like you're not in Rhode Island. Staff is awesome. No doubt about that. Everyone is so nice. The food was spectacular. Crying tiger beef was tasted charcoaled and well seasoned. Definitely a highlight. The Thai beef noodle soup was amazing. It was one of the richest broths I've had in the region. The beef was so tender too. Papaya Salad was delicious and we had it come extra spicy. Certainly was able to breathe better after it. Lol. Thai tea is delicious and I highly recommend it. The entire experience was top notch. This should be on your list if you're in Providence at any point.

I came back to Jarit Thai with two of my friends. We were seated right away and the service was very hospitable. The server constantly poured water into our cups when he saw it was low. He checked in during our meal and also made conversation with us. I ordered the Lychee Martini and Pad Thai with shrimp. The Lychee Martini was very good. The rice noodle, egg, scallion, turnip, bean sprout and minced peanut was delicious and the flavors were spot on. My friends ordered the Lilet Spritz, Aperol Spritz, Pad Kee Mow with shrimp, and Pad Thai with chicken. We all enjoyed our meal very much and the ambiance. The food also didn't take very long to come out. Looking forward to returning to Jarit Thai.

I was so excited to see this spot open near my place of work. I love Thai food and having another lunch option nearby was very exciting. I was very impressed and surprised by the some of the restaurant. Looks are deceiving and it's quite big inside. The decor is fantastic. It really gives off Thai street food vibes and I love the green color tied into everything from the painted shutters to the chairs to the bowls. Service was friendly and quick. I tried the tom yum soup (less spicy than I usually like but good) and the chicken pad Thai. It was delicious, a bit sweeter than I'm used to but still good. I was surprised to see that lunch comes on a tray with spring rolls and salad. It was a good surprise! I enjoyed having some addition bites to try. I'm not sure if they do this at dinner too or if it's just lunchtime. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. I can see this becoming a go to lunch spot on days I work in the office.

Came in for a girls dinner with two girlfriends. We made a reservation just cause we weren't sure how busy they would be. When we got there at 630 it was a little empty but it filled up quickly! I got shrimp dumpling appetizer and it was very different looking from anyone I've ever got anywhere else but it was tasty! I also got the crab fried rice and it was AMAZING! My cocktail while photogenic was just so so. My friends also liked their food. The decor is cute, the staff was quirky but friendly. Overall I would go back and get the crab fried rice!!!

As soon as they hit my FYP, I had to add Jarit Thai Thai to my must-try list. My first visit did not disappoint, and my tastebuds were very satisfied. As a Lao foodie, I've been exposed to various Southeast Asian dishes and flavors, so my critiques tend to be more discerning, and I have a keen palette for authentic dishes versus fusion ones. I was left in absolute awe stepping foot into the dining area. Every nook and cranny of the restaurant felt intentionally designed, with fun decorations symbolic of Thailand and familiar to me. Jarit is a strong example of an establishment that brings you back in time, with every corner thoughtfully planned. We had pumpkin curry, pad kee mao and two cocktails: the Sodd Sai and Zabb Zaa. TLDR, everything was six stars if I could give them that high of a rating out of five. The curry was new to me but had such a creamy, slightly mild and earthy flavor that paired beautifully with jasmine rice. I can definitely see myself ordering this in the fall or whenever it starts to get cool. The pad kee mao had the right amount of kick, and the beef was oh-so tender. I love when wide noodles are chewy but not soggy - the texture was spot on and had enough spice to make me sniffle. The cocktails were phenomenal, from presentation to first sip. I had the Zabb Zaa, which reminded me a lot of a spicy margarita with the spiced rim. Made with tequila, lime, cointreau and mango juice, it was exactly what I needed to pair with the pad kee mao. Surprisingly, it wasn't spicy and was more fruity and refreshing. My partner had the Sodd Sai, and the Melon Calpico in that cocktail was very lovely. The service was phenomenal, and we were instantly greeted with such kindness and wonderful hospitality. I'm so excited for Heng Thai's sister restaurant to open up and make their mark in the Providence food scene. Everything about Jarit is cozy and reminds me of home. Give them a try - you won't regret the authenticity Jarit brings to Providence.

Heard there was a new Thai spot in Providence and Instagram kept whispering in my ear to go so I had to oblige! We came for Sat lunch and was able to park in the adjacent lot so always adds brownie points when you don't have to play the parking wars game. This is where JR's used to be but you wouldn't be able to tell! The interior is bright and the walls are adorned with vintage movie/concert posters featuring aspects of the motherland along with numerous knick knacks of cutesy articles that gives off street market vibes. Sister restaurant to Heng so the food and vibes made sense. We ordered the wings, papaya salad, larb hed for apps (with a side of sticky rice) and for entrees we ordered the Pad C-U and Pad Kee Mow, both with chicken. Our drinks (Thai iced tea and virgin passion fruit mojito) were refreshing for this hot summer day. We really enjoyed all of our options and found a new interesting thing to try - we've never had a vegetarian larb before and we both thought it was different and good but I still do prefer a larb (laap for us Southeast Asians) with protein. There was a pretty big and interesting drink menu but we opted to go non alcoholic for lunch today but tomorrow is another day! This is def a new Thai spot that we will return to and I have to comment on how amazing the service was! Super friendly with welcoming smiles and the food came out fast and piping hot for hot dishes! Thai food always tends to be pricier so be warned bout the hit to your wallet. All of food along with non alcoholic beverages + tax and tip came to around $125.

    Shrimp Appetizer special

My wife and I tried Jarit recently and it was very good. We ordered the shrimp special appetizer, which was like a fried croquette stuffed with minced shrimp and served with a tasty sweet sauce. The drinks were pricey ($14 for about 3 oz), but I guess drinks are ridiculously priced everywhere these days. It's funny that the price of alcohol in liquor stores hasn't gone up nearly as much as the price of drinks in restaurants. We bought three drinks, which were very good, but for the same amount of money I could've bought full bottles to make 30 of the same drinks at home. The service was fantastic and the decor was pleasant. I got the crispy pork belly entrée, which was very tasty. My wife got a rice dish with the crispy pork. Her pork wasn't as flavorful as the pork belly, but I guess few things are as tasty as pork belly.

Always a fan of trying new places, this one was on the list so we checked it out. The decor makes you feel like you're at a roadside eatery in Thailand. The service was good with the food coming at a good pace and they check on you enough to make sure you're taken care of but not to where you feel intruded. The food was really good. The Pad Kee Mow was good, I'd order it spicier next time. The larb was mushroom based. Typically it's a protein and organ meat, but this one sounded interesting and didn't disappoint. It was light and refreshing. Never had it like that but would order again. My pleasant surprise was the papaya salad. It was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Very flavorful and all the flavors balanced very well. The presentation on the chicken wings was nice, but they were what you'd expect. Crispy and well cooked but nothing special. Definitely looking forward to going back and trying other options.

When you walk in, you feel like you've teleported to a cute outdoor market. They really took their time with the interior designing and I love it - no inch went to waste. We were immediately welcomed in and seated. Their menu is the perfect size, with about 5 dishes per section. I was craving something with vegetables and complex flavor so I went with the green curry. My friend ordered the beef stew noodle. In about 15 minutes our food came out and it was still hot and looked very delicious. The menu said the green curry would be really spicy so I was nervous (even though I am good at tolerating heat) but it wasn't too bad. This dish had so many flavors going on. It started off creamy, then transitioned to being sweet, and ending with spicy. I loved the vegetables in the curry, especially the sliced ginger. I was unfamiliar with on vegetable but I still liked it. I ordered crisy pork as my protein but it was slightly cold so the fatty parts were inedible--I  should've gone with crispy chicken or vegetables. I have heard so many great things about their papaya salad and mango rice but unfortunately we did not have the space for it. Next time! They don't have a personal parking lot but there is a parking lot next door that I sometimes park in with caution if I cannot find street parking. This place is near the Providence Pedestrian bridge so it makes for a nice time out in the city.

Checked out this new Thai spot! Cool street food vibe inside. Tried the roti with curry dip and the drunken noodles. Roti was solid, curry was a little sweet, but the drunken noodles were fantabulous. Overall pretty good, though $20 for noodles feels kinda pricey.

Apsara is one of my favorite restaurants in the World. Yes, you read that right--I have been to…read moreevery continent (except for Antarctica) and still write this with great confidence. I have been going to Apsara since the late 1980s, back when it was called "Bayon." It became AMAZING when it was purchased by the Te family, who still own and run Apsara. At its core, Apsara is and always has been loved by the college students in RI, for its kind servers, wonderful and eclectic foods (Cambodian, but also with Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Lao dishes, as well), very affordable prices and BYOB. The family has attempted various new ideas over the years, such as having sushi, and Asian shaved ices, and sticky rice desserts, most of which have come and gone, but the core menu is generally unchanged. One can still also try to order "off menu," although it's not as common practice as it had been. Start with the Nime Chow, which is essentially a fresh spring roll but with their delicious fish sauce, with crushed peanuts for dipping. I highly recommend adding a dribble of Sriracha to the sauce. Addictive! The chefs are known for cooking their stocks everyday, from hours before dawn. I find all of their soups to be delicious, with a suggestion to try their Vietnamese Sweet and Sour soup or their Tom Yum when you're battling a Winter cold. The also make Mekong fish cakes as an appetizer (finally now sometimes found at Thai places), as well as Natang, which is a minced pork with coconut cream and curry, and sometimes dried shrimp. You spoon it onto their homemade rice cakes... trust me, you'll never be tempted by Quaker Oats rice cakes ever again! Crispy wings are also solid, and the beef teriyaki is an essential (think Phnom Penh street food). The restaurant is pretty small and bustling, but very warm and "family-like." People there learn your name, as you learn theirs. Entrees are wonderful. The whole fish fried with fresh pineapple, cucumbers and tomatoes is killer! The stir fried chicken with lemongrass is delicious (try the "dry sauce") although they no longer make it with ground chicken and Thai chilis and basil (a shame as it was REALLY awesome!). The bee bongs are essentially a noodle bowl with vegetables and a protein, with fish sauce, chopped nuts and a taro fried spring roll. Other favorites include beef loclac (tender grilled beef cubes with onions and a yummy lime and black pepper dipping sauce) or the stir fried ginger chicken, with aged ginger and fresh mushrooms and onions. On a hot Summer day, the shrimp nyom (a cold shrimp salad) is tough to beat. Or mix it up, such as with Phnom Penh twilight, with calamari, shrimp, scallops and sometimes green NZ mussels. And if anyone is wondering, their white rice and their house tea are very high quality. If you are concerned about the somewhat dicey neighborhood (South Providence) or the small size of Apsara, take comfort in the fact that famous actors, musicians and celebrities have joined their kids to go there when attending the kids' graduations from Brown or RISD or wherever!

I had done some research and knew it was a small space so I was praying there would be enough open tables. When we talked in, there were about 3 tables open. It took a bit to get seated since the host/ server was busy getting together online orders and bringing out food to other customers. But after a couple minutes, we were allowed to pick our own table. They have 3 two person tables to the left, on an elevated platform. To the far front of the space, there were two booths which could easily fit 4 people each. To the right there were 3 tables for 4-5 people each. We went with the bigger table, but moved after a couple minutes to another table for a more private setting. For an appetizer, we put in an order of crab rangoons. As my entrée, I ordered the Khao Soi with seafood and my friend ordered the beef salad which comes with sticky rice. The crab rangoons came out after about 10 minutes. They looked crispy, and were wrapped in a cute, round way. The filling wasn't as creamy as I wish it would be, but it did taste a bit healthier than regular Chinese take out. The entress came out after about another 10 minutes. My Khao Soi came out with a big bowl, with some lime and peanuts on the side. I asked for more lime and cilantro on the side. The broth was a very vibrant color, creamy, sweet, a little tangy from the lime, and because of the cilantro had a fresh and clean flavor. I loved the combination of all the flavors, and it reminded me of a curry. The noodles were soft, but not falling apart and there was a good amount of it. There was plenty of seafood including calamari, shrimp, and mussels. The calamari was a little tough but the other items were good. I loved the crispy shallots on top as they provided an additional sweet but savory element. I finished the entire thing. My friend's salad was good. It was simple in that it was salads and herbs with minced meat but it tasted good. The sticky rice came in a ball wrapped in aluminum foil, and then put into their authentic little basket so it was full to pull apart. They do have a dessert menu and we were offered some, but I had no space. It seemed like the server was handling a lot at once so kudos to him and the small but mighty team in the back cooking everything up. I would be interested in trying other items on their menu.

Not much flavor and they seemed to be a little dense/soggy with oil. The crab rangoons were made with imitation crab meat and had curry, not really any crab flavor. They seemed to use a thin premade wrapper. I also got pad thai which was okay. It was a bit on the mushy side. Flavor was okay but it just didn't seem to have the same fresh, clean quality as prior recipe. Tasted similar to a lot of other thai restaurants, which may not be a bad thing I guess. Finally I ordered drunken noodles for lunch the next day. These did not come spicy at all but instead came with a chili sauce on the side. The noodles themselves were really thick and gummy and bunched up (kind of a squareish size) rather than long ribbons. There was just almost no flavor to this dish and the flavor was just fish sauce or something similar. No complexity or layers of flavor. Very one dimensional.
